I am asking this to take my mind off of the update because the anticipation is killing me
where do you get your art inspo from? As in the art style :3
yk this is kind of a question i've been dreading! because a lot of people can answer definitively - they'll give names, urls, blogs.
but uh.. I really don't know? I mean there were some deviantart blogs in elementary/middle school that inspired me then, but since? I couldn't say! My style has evolved from me doing my own thing, I suppose. I'd take little bits from other people's tutorials/advice and then stitch it into my own Frankenstein's Style.
#i also in a way took insp from myself?#bc for a while i had two styles - realistic and simplistic#and then at some point i wondered if i could combine them. and i did!#and That has become what you all see today!#rambles from the bog#i might be able to give an answer in a few years! who's to say!#i'm trying to Improve more constructively and that means studying other people's art#recently i've followed some artists who's art i greatly enjoy so that i can maybe Understand how to draw in such a way#- not as in draw like their style!#but to be able to choose colors & lay out composition and such#the technical aspects!#so that i can then apply that to my own style and like. Improve lmao#because admittedly my style is rather... bland. i look at my art and#sure there are Some that are genuinely creative and interesting but most of it is just.... meh?#it's not something i would stop and gawk at!#and i want to be able to great something that makes people stop and go 'Whoah' under their breath! you understand!#i want to create elaborate backgrounds! combine interesting colors! The first Splatoon game turned 8 yesterday!
#the last (and first) time i drew anniversary art for the first game was when it turned 1 year#imna use the tags to be all sappy real quick:#ive been a huge fan of the splatoon series since the first game & have played it since day one#splatoon is the first time ive grown up with a game series from the beginning#like i knew it was gonna be a successful game that'd eventually grow and become a series w/ a cool fanbase#for first/third person shooter games (esp multiplayer)- i could never call myself a fan of those#but the moment splatoon debuted in an e3 trailer??? it took a concept i'd normally go meh to- but made it into smthn colorful/unique#like??? weeks after the announcement i was already gushing over what the lore would be in their universe#it got really tiring seeing all the hate it received- id watch ppl stream it out of interest and their chat'd be like uggh this ass title?#or id watch gamers do one single lets play of it and be like oh ok i can see how this game is fun (me assuming they'd doubt it's potential)#but to see how much splatoon as a series has grown has me kinda emotional ngl#like yeah sure theres still ppl outside the fandom who has (or still has since the 1st game) sour opinions about it#but ever since the fandom grew over those 8 years- it feels like the love for this series outshines that#but man.... i said this already on twt but i remember going to my first color run event locally w/ my family#(this happened weeks before the game came out btw) -but id have my phone out with the inklings on my screen#and id look at my phone & feel this happiness (that i havent felt in a while tbh) at being in an event that had a lot of colors in it#and at the time seeing all the powdered colors flying everywhere at the end of the race reminded me of splatoon sm i was like raaaaah#WOW SORRY FOR THE LONG TAGS LOL#BUT YEAH- I LOVE THIS SERIES (thats all i wanted to say)#splatoon#splatoon anniversary#splatoon 8th anniversary#fanart#loafbud

the older i get the more i realize that the way my mother talked to me as a child was just so wonderful in the sense that she’d just fully explain the science behind everything in my day to day life whenever she could

state of Maine is really asking me to fill out freelance forms when I make less than $10 a month & therefore according to them do not actually even qualify as a freelance worker, let alone somebody who should be filing taxes, in order to make sure my food stamps are renewed
#this is sooo stupid. the lady helping me was very understanding & basically like 'sorry i'm asking you to do this stupid thing.'#but wow! okay!#she also helped me correct my health insurance forms & took notes of all the assistance programs i'm already on to cover living expenses#& basically was like 'this is to make sure you don't have a gap in your food stamps when you go to do groceries in a couple weeks'#so i REALLY appreciate her help. this is just such a ridiculous & confusing system#ugh. i am so tired & hungry i need to eat a snack while i make dinner#dial p for post#at LEAST my health insurance coverage is all set & won't be interrupted! even with the mistake i made that went seamlessly. good job to me!

ok lrb i feel like the biggest idiot ever and i probably am 💀it has been established multiple times but ive been really feeling it now these past few days

I long lost the post by now but yesterday I was having trouble going to bed and I remembered that sleeping trick...
Don't count sheep, play the game "Category" with yourself.
Anyway, after like an hour of tossing and turning I thought "huh, what a good time to try out that trick" so I started by listing off the classes in Phylum Cnidaria. (This goes on for a while)
Then I went through the orders in Class Scyphozoa. Then I went through the the families in Order Semasteoastae. Then I went through the genuses in Family Ulmaridae, the ones I remember being Tibernoa, Aurelia, Stygiomedusa, and Deepstaria (+ that brown deep sea one). Next came the genuses in Family Drycomedusae (or something like I don't remember how to spell it). The only one I remembered was the pink meanie, no scientific name. Then I went through the Family Phacellophoridae, only containing the Phacephallora camschatica (or maybe other species, we're still figuring that out). Then the Cyanidae Family, containing the Cyanea capilata, Cyanea lamarckii, and other lions manes ig. Then the family Pelagiidae, which I totally forgot. I remembered genus Noctiluca (with the Noctiluca pelagia) a long with the genus Chrysaora (beloved sea nettles Chrysaora pacifica, Chrysaora hysocella, Chrysaora achylos, Chrysaora colorata, Chrysaora chesapeaki, Atlantic and Pacific sea nettles, among an extensive list)
I was still awake then, but I had a lot more to go. So onto Order Rhizostomeae. I couldn't remember the subfamilies, so I just went down species I remembered. Mastigias papua.... a bunch of subspecies.... Phylorhiza tuberculata ..... Cassiopea, which includes the Cassiopea andromeda and Cassiopea xamachata (?), And .. and..... Zzzzz

I've always had chronic fatigue. I remember being twelve, and an adult mentioned how I couldn't possibly know how tired they felt because adulthood brought levels of exhaustion I couldn't imagine. I thought about that for days in fear, because I couldn't remember the last time I didn't feel tired.
Eventually I came to terms with the fact that I was just tired, and I couldn't do as many things as everyone else. People called me lazy, and I knew that wasn't true, but there's only so many times you can say "I'm tired" before people think it's an excuse. I don't blame them. When a teenager does 20 hours of extracurriculars every week and only says "I'm too tired" when you ask them to do the dishes, it's natural to think it's an excuse. At some point, I started to think the same thing.
It didn't matter that I could barely sit up. It was probably all in my head, and if I really wanted to, I could do it.
When I learned the name for it, chronic fatigue, I thought wow, people that have that must be miserable, because I am always tired and I cannot imagine what it would feel like if it were worse.
Spoiler alert, if you've been tired for a decade, it's probably chronic fatigue.
Once I figured that out though, I thought of my energy as the same as everyone else's, just smaller in quantity. And that might be true for some people, but I've figured out recently that it absolutely isn't true for me.
I used to be like wow I have so much energy today I can do this whole list for sure! And then I'd do the dishes and have to lay down for 2 hours. Then I'd think I must gave misjudged that, I didn't have as much energy as I thought.
But the thing is - I did have enough energy for more tasks, I just didn't go about them properly.
With chronic fatigue, your maximum energy is obviously much smaller than the average person's. Doing the dishes for you might use up the same percentage of energy that it takes to do all the daily chores for someone else.
If someone without chronic fatigue was to do all the daily chores, they would take breaks. Because otherwise, they're sprinting a marathon for no reason and it would take way more energy than necessary. We have to do the same.
Put the cups in the dishwasher, take a break. Put the bowls in, take a break. So on and so forth. This may mean taking breaks every 2-5 minutes but afterwards, you get to not feel like you've run a marathon while carrying 4 people on your back.
Today, I had a moderate amount of energy. Under my old system of go till you drop, I probably could have done most of the dishes and wiped off the counter and then been dead to the world for the rest of the day.
Under the new system, I scooped litter boxes, cleaned out the fridge, took the trash out, cleaned the stove, and wiped off the counter and did all the dishes. And after all that, I still had it in me to make a simple dinner, unload the dishwasher, and tidy the kitchen.
It was complete and utter insanity. Just because I sat down whenever I felt myself getting more tired than I already was.
All this to say, take fucking breaks. It's time to unlearn the ceaseless productivity bullshit that capitalism has shoved down our throats. Its actively counterproductive. Just sit down. Drink some water. Rest your body when it needs to rest.
There will still be days where there is nothing to do but rest, and days where half a load of dishes is absolutely the most I can do. But this method has really helped me minimize those, which is so incredibly relieving.
