If the Darkling didn't care about others, he could have had such an amazing life that I feel baffled everytime anyone says he was purely selfish. He wasn't very good at being selfish then I suppose.

So. Whoever says (or believes) the Darkling was selfish is either unaware of the meaning of the word or hasn't read the books at all.

The definition of selfishness is:

So in other words if someone is selfish they don't give a fuck about others. They only think about themselves and their own pleasure.

And yet Aleksander Morozova:

1) Stood up in defense to a Grisha and her little sister, an otkazat'sya, against three bullies at the age of thirteen. And by doing so he jeopardized his own position (and his mother's) in the camp.

2) He meddled with merzost in order to stop the Ravkan wars and the slaughter of Grisha. In S&B we thought he did it for his own power-hungry ambitions but RoW taught us otherwise.

3) He built the Little Palace. He refused the gold King Yevgeni offered him (if he was "selfish" he would have taken it and vanish. And it was a gift that he probably never had in his life) and only asked for a home for his people. Somewhere to belong and rest.

4) Never flaunted his status when around his soldiers (ate the same amount of meal all others did and slept on the dirt with them).

4) Used his nichevo'ya to limit the losses of his army. And that took its toll for his own well-being.

5) When he became King, he forged a very tentative alliance with the Fjerdans to allow him to pass supplies for his army. He could say "Starve. There's no way I'm making an alliance with the enemy" but he did. To offer food both for the Second Army AND the First.

6) He literally came back from the dead and continued where he left. Trying to find a way to save his country from going down the drain. He could go somewhere sunny, put sun lotion and relax on a beach but nope.

7) He thought about summoning his nichevo'ya again to protect his cult even though they annoyed him greatly.

So.

For anyone who says that he was a selfish asshole. Come here. I just want to talk 🔫😄

Baghra not letting Aleksander know his father's name and making him believe that they both are the only special, immortal and powerful ones during his childhood, when we know in RoW that there were others like them just shows how deep the manipulation runs. In tgt she also tells Alina that Ilya wouldn't have died but she made Aleksander believe that there's no one like him and her, even told him to forget his own name. I wonder if Leigh realizes how foul Baghra's actions are or she like her dumb stans also believe her to be a hero.

I wouldn't put my money on it, since LB's characters are glorifying Ol' Bags more and more, and there's not a single one to challenge those views.

Aleksander knew other "Saints" even as a child, but none of them were "like them". There are exactly two known Shadow Summoners, and only one Sun Summoner. While the Saints might have the longevity, their powers still more or less fit in the category of Grisha powers taken to extreme.

“They [the Elders of the camp] are set in their ways, and you are not only a woman, but”—he cleared his throat —“they fear you are not entirely natural.” Eryk wasn’t surprised. When other Grisha saw the power that he and his mother possessed, they had only one of two responses: fear or greed. Either they ran from it or they wanted it for themselves.

Demon in the Wood

While I agree Baghra made sure to isolate Aleksander, especially by keeping anything about his father from him, she wasn't wrong about their uniqueness. Their experiences couldn't be the same as other Grisha's, no matter how much those went through.

Unfortunately, Aleksander extrapolated this idea too far. Not even immortality seemed to be enough to find common ground with Saints we know of, and to be fair, it's easier to let yourself believe your differences are caused by... well, your different natures, and one day you're destined to meet The One™, than admitting the good people always die too soon, and those, who remain are selfish assholes.

something so personal about the parallel that is travis saying "quit acting like such a saint" to natalie (someone who is constantly being thought guilty of sin- though they never had sex) and shauna loving the saints because 'they were all so tragic' and then eulogizing jackie as a saint (someone who travis had sex with before her death)

working retail is making me remember how much i hate stupid customers btw

#so i work in a tiny nonprofit thrift store. right.#its one room w concrete floors and very compact shelving because there is just No Room for anything.#and our office/employee backroom/breakroom is a little corner with wood+canvas dividers separating it from the rest of the store #with LOTS of signs saying employees only nothing is for sale here etc etc etc #and there was a customer today who went through the divider to ''shop'' in the ''other section of the store''#and we didnt even KNOW someone was back there until she brought up one of my coworker's purses to ask how much it was </3 #im so baffled. there are so many signs saying its employees only.#not to mention that the office is full of notes and paperwork and my boss's computer and filing cabinets and the fridge and microwave #its CLEARLY an office/break room. even if you ignore all the signs. and YET.#there's also people who will literally just steal. anything and everything #which like. i will always support shoplifting from walmart or another big retail company. in fact i encourage it.#but a tiny locally owned NONPROFIT thrift store that supports local arts ???? HELLO ????????????????#gah. i should be allowed to throttle one customer per day. i should get paid to do so #most of them are so so sweet. we have regulars who are in almost every day and they are the NICEST people ever #but its just those few who are absolutely the worst most selfish stupid people to ever live #woes from work #winter speaks #all complaining aside i do enjoy my job quite a bit more than i thought i would #i like my coworkers and i feel like im actually connecting with most of them #and i love my supervisor. i have so much respect for her she's an amazing person #you win some you lose some i guess. cool job i actually like but with stupid fucking customers who make me want to MURDER

mal's inside the walls of my skull whispering constantly so imma just jot it down in hopes I can rest but

I am overwhelmed by her sense of loneliness. about not having a place where she belongs. no family. no people. yet no matter where she goes, the shadow still looms over her. of those ghosts from the depths. the red-eyed, spider-worshipping monsters. to some, she's just the same. to others, she's a possibility, a threat, a risk.

her people. the very same that found her mother. took days torturing her in turns. and if fate had led her a different way that day, mal could've met the same fate.

she sets out on the road, never stopping, for she can never return home. and yet, years into their travels, she yearns for it. feeling like she belongs somewhere. a sense of home.

maleane chases that thread by going back to what she knows. the calm of the forest. the challenge of surviving on your own. and when astarion's at her side, it almost feels right. almost home. until he leaves. and all of it crumbles like sandcastles washed away by the sea.

the bone-gnawing loneliness settles deep within her core, aching like aging joints. she starts to understand why she was trapped in that forest cabin as a child. why her mother never allowed her to leave. why a'sherra clung to her with such vigor, throwing every excuse that would stick to prevent mal from straying too far.

maybe she's just like her mother. maybe that's the answer to all those questions haunting her. maybe that's her home.

Thanks for asking!!!! I listen to various songs from a number of bands but here are the more significant ones that I listen to most

My all-time favourite band is My Chemical Romance (can you tell) but I also like Pierce The Veil, Leathermouth and some Radiohead songs, though I don't listen to them as much as other bands. Sometimes I even listen to icp for funsies and I used to (in like, middle and later 2022 and super early 2023 I think) listen to Lemon Demon a lot, not really anymore though. Also in mid 2023 I enjoyed Will Wood but my favourite bands are mcr and ptv

My top 3 favourite favourite albums (in general) are probably good old Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, Bullets, and Selfish Machines (these may change in the future but oh well lol)
