Y’ALL! We got another round of casting news! Anyone have character theories?? 👀 

Just got some new "Rings of Power" spoilers today this time from the Daily Rings of Power Twitter account and detailing more on the main Númenor storyline for season 2!!! :D Also confirmed a few of the new cast members' roles.

I'm linking to the Twitter thread in the comments but they confirmed that the main Númenor storyline is setting up the Faithful versus the King's Men which starts everything that leads to the downfall. This storyline has been filming a lot too starting in last fall and now filming again, which also lines up with what Calam Lynch said about when he was filming which also goes along with how a lot of us have been speculating that he's actually playing Elendil's son Anárion instead of Celeborn so this seems to hint more that's who he's playing or someone connected to them. Plus there had already been speculation with him and showing him being part of the Faithful while Isildur is still in Middle Earth. Lloyd Owen also posted about how they've been doing nightshoots for the past couple weeks, though Morfydd also talked about it too and both the Númenor and Eregion sets are on the same massive connected set. Elendil's group too will also be there and shown at how they're torn between the two growing factions.

So of the new cast Will Keen and William Chub are playing two opposing members of each side, with the latter being a High Priest of the Faithful. I'm really looking forward to this as it's setting up what's to come in a later season when Sauron eventually makes his way back and the downfall/sinking comes.

All the characters that one has played sort of talk to each other, at some level, but I would compare Putin to Macbeth, of course. They’re obvious autocrats, but for Macbeth the great motivator is fear, whereas, here, I’d say it’s perceived injustice. The result in both cases is a sort of very performed manliness.

Peter Morgan’s Patriots Honoured with Three Olivier Award Nominations

It could be third time lucky for the creator of The Crown, as Peter Morgan's latest production follows Frost/Nixon and The Audience in being nominated as Best New Play at the Oliviers – the highest honour in British Theatre.

Leading Actor Tom Hollander (seen in SAG Award winning drama The White Lotus: Sicily) and Supporting Actor Will Keen (His Dark Materials) were also nominated for their outstanding performances.

Set during the fall of the Soviet Union, Patriots follows billionaire businessman Boris Berezovsky (Tom Hollander) from President Putin's (Will Keen) inner circle to public enemy number one.

The oligarch drama is set to transfer to London's West End from 26th May 2023 – tickets and more info available here.

The 2023 Oliviers will be hosted by Ted Lasso/Sex Education star Hannah Waddingham on 2nd April and broadcast on ITV. Congratulations to Peter Morgan and all nominees!
