I'm gonna lore dump about it real quick bc I have ideas and if I do not say them I will forget them.

Martin is 9 years older than Chris. Their parents died when Martin was 17 and Chris was 8. Martin got emancipated and was able to take custody of Chris but like all government branches... it's a really long process that basically drags out for Chris' entire childhood. Martin graduates high school early, gets a full-ride scholarship at Duke University while maintaining various jobs and internships. Sounds like a lot? yEAH bro is TIRED. But he's willing to put in the work if it means a better future for his bro.

Of course eventually he becomes apart of the Tortuga crew and things get a lot easier for them both. CPS is still riding his ass about taking Chris with him on these cross-country expeditions but he's been dealing with them for so long at that point it's not as scary.

"Im stuck.." || Chris Kratt x GN! Reader ||

Summary: When Y/n finds themself in a sticky situation, Chris seems to be the only person they can think of to call for help.

Notes: This is my first time writing for Wild Kratts so... Yea, sorry if Chris is too OOC. I think this is also the longest fic I have up at the moment..? Word count is 875 exactly, nice. Anyways, enjoy~

Y/n, the usually more introverted person on the Tortuga, finally decided to get out and go on a mission with the Kratt Bros. It was simple, just find a squirrel to observe its daily activities and see what they do when nobody is around. But, since they weren't used to this stuff (being out in nature with the brothers), they got distracted and decided to climb a tree to look for a squirrel.

Not a bad idea at face value so they went for it. They climbed a big oak tree with a small hole, perfect for a squirrel to exist in! They went branch by branch, small handhold by small handhold, anything to get to that hole they thought would have a squirrel.

Sitting on top of a nearby branch, they watched the hole for a good half an hour at minimum. They stood as still as possible, waiting for a squirrel to appear. After another half an hour with nothing, they realize a squirrel probably wasn't going to show up so they decided to get down.

Looking down to map out a path between everything the tree had to offer, they realized they couldn't find one that would work. Their first thought was to wing it and just go but then they remembered all the times Martin did that and it didn't work out in his favor - ever. They couldn't think of what to do besides call for help but they could only think of one person, Chris, who was currently busy with his brother on the squirrel thing. This mission really made Y/n dislike squirrels...

After a minute of not thinking of anyone else who could possibly help them, they sighed, "Welp, sorry Chris but Im stuck so.." and rang him on their creature-pod. He picked it up almost immediately.

"Hey! Where'd you get off to? You saw something then disappeared! Got m- us worried!" As Chris spoke, Y/n saw behind him, he was back at the Tortuga so they assumed the squirrel mission was a success.

"Oh, um, I am stuck... In a tree." They nod a tiny bit after their sentence. Chris looked at them with concern and slight shock. "How did you get stuck in a tree, Y/n?"

"Well, I saw this oak tree had a hole in it that looked good for squirrels so I climbed it, not really paying attention to where I was putting my hands and stuff. Im up the tree and can't find a path down..." They explained, now having started hugging the tree while on the call still. Koki spoke in the background, "I've got their coordinates, sent them to your creature-pod, Chris!"

"Okay, thanks Koki!" He turned back to his creature pod, "I'll be right there, Y/n, don't worry, and don't move!" The call ended before Chris could hear their remark, "Wouldn't if I could."

After a few minutes, Chris comes into Y/n's vision. He looked around for a while before they yelled out to him to get his attention. He looked up at them, shock filled his face, "How in the world did you get up there?!"

"I thought a squirrel would be in here!" They let go of the branch they were hugging with one of their hands to wave it around while talking to make a point. After they stopped talking and started to slip, they embraced the branch even harder than before. Chris sighed and quickly climbed to meet them near the hole in the tree, remembering his path so he could guide Y/n down after calming them down.

"Look, I just climbed up, it's not that hard to go back down the same way! Just follow me, and I'll show you! And I promise to catch you if you fall." He gave a reassuring smile and waited for them to sit up on the branch rather than laying on it whilst hugging it. He slowly made his way down the tree and they started after he reached the bottom, following every single thing he told them and trying to remember where he put his foot or hand and when.

Even with being this careful, Y/n managed to slip about three-quarters of the way down. Chris lunged forward to catch them, just like he promised. They smiled at him in a silent thanks for catching them but after he set them down they mumbled a verbal thanks. "What was that?"

"I said, thanks for coming all the way out here just to rescue me from that tree and catching me.. Thanks." A small amount of color dusted their cheeks as they made eye contact with him. He was smirking. He did hear them the first time. Upon realizing this, they lightly punched his arm and he chuckled. "Let's get back to the Tortuga, yea?"

As the two made their way to the flying Wild Kratts HQ, a comfortable silence filled the air. Just before entering, Y/n gave Chris a kiss on the cheek and then walked in as if nothing ever happened. Chris stood there blinking for a solid minute, Martin had to come out and drag him inside but not before he mumbled something. "Im never washing this cheek again..."

The three horsemen of animal rescue children’s shows (also beloved by older people <3). Most of the Octonauts and WK descriptions came from that one post comparing the crews.

I grew up with all of these, though two of these are far more well-known than the other. Idk if all of the statements are accurate, but at least that’s how I describe the shows.

Bird Squad is so wack (committing grand theft blimp for frick’s sake), it deserves more acknowledgement and a second season. Yeah, it predated the other two shows (tho not the OG Octonauts books). Let me know if you recognize the show, because I’d like the fandom to grow. (We’re a little lonely)

Octonauts do be getting it’s 8th season (please I need the rest of Season 5, too) and Wild Kratts with 7th and they’re all fun.

How does the first confrontation with newly-turned-villain Chris and the rest of the crew go ? How’s Chris’ relationship with the rest of the villains ? Does he change his looks to better fit the villain persona ?

IM SO SO SORRY IT TOOK ME THIS LONG TO ANSWER YOUR ASK 😭

Well, for the first confrontation, I'll have to explain his appearance first: Chris's invention of a miniature hologram projector on the side of his face causes his entire face minus his eyes to be covered in a sheet of black. The hologram can also change his eye color; most of the time his eyes are a deep shade of red. His adventuring clothes were swapped with a khaki suit and vest; paired with a long olive green cape for dramatic effect. Also his hair has been slicked down.

(TW for mentions of verbal ab*se in this paragraph)

In the first confrontation, the crew doesn't even know it's him, but most of them could care less. Martin is very verbally ab*sive towards Chris in Practically Unpractical, and the crew did nothing to stop it. So Chris despises the crew for not helping him, and he hates his brother with a burning passion mixed with fear and trauma.

Now for his relationships with the other villains:

Zach: Chris honestly enjoys Zach's company and Zach was the first person to actually help Chris out after he left the Tortuga. So they're chill with each other and are basically a villain duo

Donita: She and Chris don't interact much but when they do she usually is fairly nice to him. So Chris doesn't really mind her

Paisley: They haven't interacted at all yet other than Zach mentioning Chris to her

Rex/Dabio: Chris doesn't mind them, he just thinks they're very naive

Gourmand: He and Chris hate each other and will purposely avoid each other

hot take maybe but i feel like the erminator had a lot of potential but didn’t execute it as well as it could have

like i’m not expecting anything near oscar-worthy plot in a kids show obviously but this episode in comparison to other wks episodes felt messy? as if they had several different leftover episode ideas and decided to mash them together into one. there was a lot going on at once and it didn’t flow very well at all.

most of my problem with it is how there was all this buildup (both in this episode and from previous ones) with “making creature power discs is incredibly difficult and if done even slightly wrong there could be major consequences” as well as the foreshadowing with “you can’t forget to eliminate the past activation codes or the suit will randomly cycle through them”. all this ended up only leading to issues played out at the very end of the episode as a gag, and as a result felt very anticlimactic. i feel like the whole Martin Making His Own Creature Power Disc subplot just didn’t fit well into the episode at all and would’ve done much better in an episode of its own.

i really want to love this episode because it features several of my favorite creatures (chickadee, pileated woodpecker, ermine) but it’s not very high on my personal ranking list. maybe i just had high hopes for it idk. probably

Something I have been working on the past 3 days..it uh..well..is for the AU comic..

Chris and Martin had gotten attacked by Indigo, and Chris seems to be doing okay for the most part but is losing sleep over protecting his brother..that being said Martin had almost died from being slashed in the stomach by one of Indigos henchwoman.

The rest of the gang had been looking for more information on Indigo. Unfortunately they found some stuff they wish they didn’t see. Aviva feels like she’s the one to blame after sending the Kratt brothers to find out what Indigo was doing. Chris is a bit pissed at Aviva, but forgives her later on.

Onto the villains..

Before she started her “company” , she joined the villain team. Although Paisley and Rex wasn’t there at the time..she left because one of Zach’s bots “malfunctioned” and attacked her.

…

That’s what Zach told them. Only a single person knows the truth as they were there..

Paisley and Rex had heard of Indigo when they joined, but didn’t care much..except for Rex..he was definitely nervous when they told them he knows something?

I feel embarrassed posting these and I don’t know why. 😭 But I need a bit of time to start working on the comic! 😊

Summary: Lazy day with Martin, taking the break you desevre

Warnings: None

Notes: This isn't the Martin fic I was talking about, this is different. That one is coming but yall need to be fed so. I was listening to Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez and Em Beihold while writing this and its really short. (I was also pretty sad when I wrote this and in need of comfort so um, sorry)

Today was just one of those days where you just didn't want to move. The only issue with that was you were currently using your boyfriend, Martin, as a pillow and he would most definitely need to do at least something today. You sighed, taking in the peaceful moments you had before he woke up. You moved your arm toward the ceiling, something you found yourself doing sometimes whilst laying down.

"Oh, you're awake! Good!" You tilted your head back to meet eyes with him, seeing him wide awake. You were suddenly overcome with guilt, thinking you woke him up - even though you barely moved a muscle. "Oh, I didn't mean to wake you up, Im sorry Martin. Go back to sleep, please. I'll get out of the hammock-" He effectively cuts you off by tapping your nose.

"Oh let me hold you, please. I think we both need a break for at least a bit." He practically begs whilst holding you tighter, his body seeming more comfortable than before. You let out a content sigh before closing your eyes and nodding a bit. "That sounds great."

After a while of not seeing his brother or you, Chris decided he should at least look for you two, knowing all the mischief you two can cause. He walked into the main space in the Tortuga before looking around, seeing Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy Z but not you or Martin. "Where are the lovebirds?" All three of the Wild Kratts crew turned to shush him. Aviva pointed to the blue hammock the couple often shared. Chris looked at it and then smiled at what he saw.

Just you and Martin snuggling close, having the day off you both earned.
