NGL I have STRONG opinions about digital releases omitting the letters to the editor section of older comics. I feel like the letters are a part of comic history and should be aggressively preserved.
#look i was a weirdo and loved the letters so much#so much#so fucking damn much#i still to this day mourn that we don't have them#sometimes the editors would publish blatant aggressive criticism and promise to do better on some things#it was rare but it did happen in a handful of things involving stereotypes#also there is queer history in them such as in superboy and the ravers where people wrote in about hero#asking WHY he was not interested in women and this editor had to so professionally explain that he was GAY and where they stood on it#you also got to read queer readers writing in about these queer characters and the JOY in their words is priceless#also sorry but geoff's letters are fun and stupid at the same time and are a huge insight to what his hcs were#he LOVED tiny krypto so much it likely inspired him making dex starr bc he loved the idea of a small overly powered animal#not saying that was the main reason why ofc but it is interesting that he created dex after praising that mean little mutt#i say with the most love#my venting#my rambles

AND. i wanted to draw it myself#plus all the changes i needed to make#needless to say this took a lot of back and forth comparing photos in my drawing program and then adjusting and then comparing again#you can see how many phases the hand holding the lantern went through#this was a TON of fun tho!!!!!#super SUPER proud of how this came out i think it looks so awesome#so many small details tho...... why did i do that to myself#also wasnt expecting the brown paper to be as fantastic as it is!!!!!#it's my favorite between the white and brown papers

So yeah avoiding my phone didn't work and also meant I sat on the kitchen floor staring into space for about 3 hours before Alfie woke up but hey at least I didn't break anything
Them being around is helping a little but they're also struggling and it fuckin sucks bc I know we're both just. Rotating money stress in our minds
#like. i went out earlier to get bread#just bread bc we cant afford anything else#got just enough in the bank to cover the work thing but since management stjll hasnt gotten back to me on HOW to pay it its like#our electricity is already in debt lol it has a thing where you can go £10 into debt before it switches off#and it usually wont switch off over weekends#presumably bc all but 1 places nearby thst we can top it up at are shut on weekends but anyway#so we're like. okay. it MIGHT last today and if it does thst SHOULD mean itll last till monday.#but then itll be at least a tenner in debt#then we only have to last till thursday but its. do we keep this money thats for The Thing that is once again unclear on how urgent it is#or do we spend it on the Soon To Be Immdiately Urgent thing#and thats not even CONSIDERING food lmao we. i got 2 loaves of bread so we can at least survive on toast for a few days#we got 3 maybe 4 meals worth of stuff still in the kitchen#like...at this point i dont even care if i have to go a few days without eating at all to make it to thursday but its.#its so fucked up those are the terms im thinking in#and this isnt asking for more donations i really cannot take that today im at the fuckin bottom of my barrel#and already feel hopeless and useless and an active drain to everything around me#but its. like. how. why. why is it still like this. why is it looking extremely unlikely its ever gonna change.#whats the point if its all for a few scattered handful hours of actual peace and comfort never mind happiness#tldr yes i am once again suicidal but small s#like in the sense of i would feel immense relief if a truck came at me on my way to work tomorrow and would not step out of the way but#dont have it in me to actually consciously act upon

poking my head in to say sorry about the radio silence! i'm not dead, just moved house & started a new job this month so there's been a lot going on. regularly scheduled posting to resume soon, in the meantime here's a blue eyes white dragon model kit i spent my long weekend building to put next to Money Kaiba in my display case
#if you're wondering why he has a 20:#at one point (like 8 years ago lol) he had yugioh cards#but they were such a small prop i lost them at some point during a move#anyway i built the new display case recently (yay for ikea furniture) and decided his hands looked a little empty#and i had this twenty dollar bill lying around#so...#(cannot stress enough how much i do not live in a country that uses dollars)#(where did it come from?? I don't know. money kaiba)#anyway I'm finally starting to have time for art again amongst all the moving stuff#working on some more aquato mermaids that i can hopefully squeeze in before the end of mermay#and then loads of people have been asking about A Certain Something In FSAU Canon#so my next project is gonna be something about that. wink wink

why do so many ereaders advertise their bright screens. i thought the whole appeal of an ereader as opposed to using a phone or tablet was that it was gentler on the eyes than other screens in your life
#my old nook was a lot like just looking at a page#idk why i'd want anything else. like#i just want a device thats small. maybe very minor backlight for night reading#i like the idea of physical buttons for page turning so i can lay in one spot and lot move a lot to advance the book#anyway. i dont know if i can justify even asking for it for christmas#since i truly am not an ebook reader i like having a physical book in my hands#but i do like the idea of it also being a fic repository#and i do have seanan macguire ebooks i got in a humble bundle that i'd like ot read#oh and i think stuff by neil gaiman#so. idk.

GOOD NEWS the expensive pair of jeans i impulse-bought last week (bc my current jeans make me actually angry to wear) don't fit me, so i can return them and get a refund 😊
#on the one hand YES it would be great to have a pair of jeans that fit me#on the other hand i regretted that purchase financially as soon as i made it and i will be v glad to get the money back#WHY DOES NOWHERE MAKE JEANS THAT FIT ME#they're always just too baggy in places and too tight other places like they're usually too big and too small at the same time#and in that situation u can't just get it in a different size bc then it would still fit weird#these ones fit really well around my hips but were just weirdly baggy in the crotch? WHY#also they're always ALWAYS way too long on me but that's ok i can alter the hem length really easily#i guess the real answer would be to learn how to tailor the tops of jeans to fit me properly#i have been seeing some vids recently on pinterest on how to do that and i'll definitely look into it more#because it PISSES ME OFF TO NO END#the current pair i have are just. SO baggy and not in a cute way like they are definitely too big for me#and i guess i have lost a little weight since i bought them but i think probably they never fit right#and i was just so desperate that i settled#also i kind of made a loose resolution that i would only buy second hand or sustainable clothes from now on#and the vast majority of sustainable jeans do not come in sizes big enough for me#it fucking sucks but fast fashion brands really are the only places you can buy decent plus sized jeans#no 'good quality' denim brands eg levi or wrangler make plus sized jeans and you for sure can't find any second-hand#that's why this pair was expensive (bc the brand is sustainable)#i've ordered from them before and i remember having the same problem and having to return everything so i really should have known better#sustainably making clothes that don't fucking fit me lmao#🧃

I have real news to bring you tho, now that it’s somewhat solidified: I am drawing stuff for a TTRPG! which means art’ll probs be sparse on here until the end of the year at least. so yeah if I go kinda quiet after this it’s not bc I sold my beloved for two dollars by misremembering what a click does to a crab on tumblr I’m just having fun + doing work + losing myself to the horror

There's something really special when you don't have to worry about your stims bothering others because you're with people who don't mind your stims or bother you about it! 🥹
Shout out to people who let others stim freely and don't make a big deal about it. You have no idea how much that means!
#granted my stims/fidgeting usually aren't too crazy but sometimes they can be a lot and so it's nice I can stim freely and not worry! :D#If I suddenly get bursting with energy and need to stim or bounce around I usually try and do it outside or somewhere else but it's nice#when you can do it whenever and wherever because you're with kind people who love you no matter what :D#I get twitchy when trying to be still. why sometimes my typing gets wild because being still to go on computer while excited is hard#I have ADHD but I also had the “Quiet Hands” done to me by a certain teacher back in elementary school and that SUCKED. Made me cry#I bounce my legs and kick my feet and play with hair and clothign and do happy dances and sometimes make sounds but I've STILL#had people get mad about those small things!#literally over holidays had people mad I was fidgeting with MY OWN jewelry! >:( “it makes you look childish” shut up!#idk just scuttled around a bunch as I'm happy and it's really nice stimming freely :D#neurodivergent#adhd#<-I happen to have adhd but this is just ANYONE who stims :D#...I really loved the bell! :D#Mad rambles

"Denise is definitely going to sea me now!"
I love the episode Sea Me Now as a Teddy episode, and because I've only drawn Teddy once before angrily defending Cats, I wanted to draw him again. Hopefully, I was able to capture a fun, nautical look well enough! I really went crazy with the lighting and filters with this one. I sort of tried a new technique to see how it would go.
It's also very, very grainy, more so than I intended, but you know what? I'm okay with that look. It kind of adds something, honestly.
