I don't understand the desperation to make the show's version of Annabeth blonde when it wouldn't make sense. Like, the "dumb blonde" trope only applies to white people with naturally blonde hair. In my opinion, her being black fits the point Riordan was trying to make about Annabeth being underestimated due to her appearance just as well, and more fitting for the time period we're in. Like, I have never heard someone bring up the dumb blonde trope in 2022, but black girls are still seen as less intelligent than their white counterparts.
Also, the gray eyes are unnecessary because it never really made sense for Athena to affect her appearance when Rick straight up said the gods have no DNA.

Tumblr cultural knowledge
The phrase 'cultural knowledge' is basically an insult and a criticism in my industry. If something isn't written down and shared in a way that's identifiable, accessible, and clear to the applicable individuals, it doesn't exist. Meaning that the correct usage will be lost as time and people change.
Here are a few things I've gleaned in my relatively short time of being an active tumblr user. (NOTE: 95% of my time here is via the mobile app). Please correct me if I've got anything wrong. I'd adore to see any that you've picked up as well.
Continue Reading Button: it's the last one in the tool bar. Looks like a zigzag line between two straight lines. I've added one to this post after this point. Even if you've selected the 'shorten long posts' option on your profile, that won't apply to reblogs. Save everyone's feeds and add it yourself to posts longer than three standard paragraphs.
Gifs: the search utility for gifs legit sucks. There is a logic applied but I can't say I've fully cracked it. What you CAN do if you want to add a specific gif to a post is paste the url of the gif's post into the gif search. Grab this via the three dots menu of any post, there'll be a copy link option. This will only grab the first image of that post though. BUT it will include the proper credit below the gif. Here's an example:
Gif credit: tapping the username below gif will open the source post.
Reblogs: the reason reblogs are so important for tumblr specifically is because the feed doesn't present posts to you outside of your parameters. Those parameters are mainly: 1) blogs you've followed and 2) tags you've followed. You reblogging a post gives it a chance to be seen again within the parameters you influence. So if you don't have any followers, you've got to add tags that ppl may have followed. If you don't use tags on posts, it can only be seen by those who follow you (theoretically, I've chatted with a few moots about the fact that we don't see each other's posts in the feed).
Post Edits: Reblogs don't sync with the original posts. If you edit a post, all of the reblogs will not update with the edits and will exist exactly as the post was when it was reblogged.
Was this helpful? I've got a few more oddities I've encountered but they seem more like workarounds to defects and I've tried to list the pain points I've personally noticed that seem to result from the intended design of tumblr.

My light and shadows on skin study with @blackkatdraws 's Narrator bc apparently he just lives in my head rent free now (also get well soon, Kat! Please eat moderate amount of vitamins-)

the Nate Shelley s3 arc reminds me of the s5 Murphy arc in terms of how much I actually loved it despite it not being widely liked by the fandom and was actually disappointed because it wasn't ugly enough lol
and it's basically the same arc. character with deep-seated wounds and a lack of true self-love has realistic, damaging coping methods and crashes and burns spectacularly by hurting other people around them and isolating themselves because it doesn't matter how good things get for you, deep-seated wounds that don't get addressed will eventually come out one way or another. and it will be ugly when they do.
the Murphy arc was disappointing because it got wrapped up way too easily with Memori getting back together which didn't actually address ANY of Murphy's issues and Nate's was disappointing because it just didn't commit fully to being ugly and didn't let him be enough of an asshole
#with murphy it's like. do the writers even reallly REALIZE what they had written on a character level and how much it made sense and added#to murphy's character or did they just develop a reason for Memori to break up for drama and then didn't care to actually go through the#work of character growth and just got them together at the end of the season no issues#and with nate it's like. yes I DO think the majority of audiences and the fandom would have absolutely villianized nate if he had been even#meaner in s3 and probably wouldn't have celebrated him getting back with the team. I just KNOW people would have been talking about how he#didn't deserve it or hadn't made up for it enough if he had been worse in s3#which is so unfair when a) this show tries to show how hurt can make people ugly and b) other characters get the benefit of the doubt wa#more than nate. (jamie's a little different bc it's easier to accept asshole > redeemed arcs a little more than likeable > downfall to#asshole > redeemed again bc we see the transition to being an asshole#BUT also. still. jamie did some nasty stuff that people just forget or completely forgive. and he ends up fandom favorite#and it's not that nate needed to become the fan fave or anything#I just wish people would give characters who are realistically ugly and human and complicated more grace#especially when they're not the conventionally attractive fan fave pretty boy you know#or like with murphy it's like all his actual harsh edges got sanded down by fandom. same as with Jamie#so even when he had an arc where he was acting terribly in a self destructive unhealthy kind of way that hurt others#people made it ALL about his hurt uwu other people hurt him!! it was Emori's fault!! he did nothing wrong bc he has trauma!! instead of lik#accepting that hurt people hurt people is more than a simple phrase it is true and human and UGLY when it happens#anyways#why do i always ramble more in the tags and write like a full epilogue in here

The number of times I've watched bte 348 is ridiculous, but i can't stop watching it...

Is it another Wednesday already? Fuckin-a. The passage of time will never fail to disturb me in some ways. What do you mean I am turning 24 this year?

I am writing at a rapid speed for my dog baker!Blaine and dog party planner!Kurt fic Barking Up The Wrong Bakery and another Smash Mouth joke? Yeah. Look, I considered taking out the Smash Mouth joke in Ebb and Flow so that I could put it in this more comedic fic, but it looks like both are going to have one.
The event is a hit. As Smash Mouth would say, the celebrities keep coming and they don’t stop coming. Well, they sort of are. Smash Mouth is the opening act and they’re welcoming everyone and their dogs inside.
Kurt’s friends have all flown to LA to be here, since they’re all famous. Mercedes is a pop star, Artie is a filmmaker, Tina is a movie actress, Rachel is a Broadway actress, Brittany, Santana and Mike are well-known dancers, Quinn is an influential CEO, Puck has a high rank in the military, and Sam is a model.
Unlike Kurt, they did find success in their desired career paths, but as Kurt looks around and he sees what he’s planned, he cannot complain. And again, it pays well. Better than Broadway ever could.
Since I am writing like mad, I didn’t add to much to Time After Time/“damn Baz, you live like this?”, my Visitor!Simon fic, but it is getting somewhere! For the ones who are new, Baz is immortal and he only sees Simon every 20 years when the Veil is lifted. Of course, they don’t know that right away.
The ghost of Simon Snow is once again in my living room. I know that the Veil has lifted again, but I didn’t expect to be Visited. Simon has had his chance to tell me what he wanted to say. We said our goodbyes, knowing that it was the end.
Now, he’s here.
“What- Snow- What?” I stammer. I never stumble over my words, since I like to boast my eloquence, but even now, Simon makes me look like an idiot. I get up and I walk towards him. This time, I’m not flinging myself at him. This time, I’m too confused.
He’s not supposed to be here. He should’ve moved on twenty years ago.
Simon is looking at me with a frown. “You, uh, haven’t aged a day.”
That pulls me out of my confusion.
“Oh. Yeah. That.”
