If Walker Scobell can manifest his way into the role of Percy Jackson by carrying around a picture of a Poseidon statue, I can surely manifest my way into 4 more seasons by posting on my silly little website

Annabeth lectures monsters is a headcanon I’ll die supporting

The way this episode shows how Echidna "a monster" has way more love for her children and more concern about their safety than Athena who is literally a "goddess" that basically signed a death warrant for her daughter because she was "embarrassed" by something that Annabeth didn't even do .

Listen listen listen. If they keep up with the adding flashbacks. They’ve gotta be doing Annabeth flashbacks (because that’s what fits sea of monsters best) which not only means babybeth but also that we would get meet Thalia sooner so then they can cast Thalia and have her in it for more than a hot two seconds at the end. Since she’s supposed to be around the same age between her “death” and return.

The thing that I haven't seen anyone talk about re: Leah as Annabeth that we really need to is that yeah she's not blonde, so she's not giving any anti-"dumb blonde" representation. But "dumb blonde" is not the same stereotype it was in the early/mid-2000s. I grew up blonde, and I was smart, and I was treated that way, minus a handful of "blonde" jokes on like the school playground. There was no societal expectation that I would be treated dumb because of my hair color, not from my teachers or other adults I encountered. We no longer need the blonde Annabeth Chase to help show kids that they can be smart even if they have light hair. Book Annabeth did it, Elle Woods changed the world already, etc etc.
BUT there is just as much stereotype around "Black women are dumb" as there was around "dumb blondes" in the early/mid-2000s (if not more). It's a lot more racially motivated, and it has a lot more knock-on effects than being blonde has for decades. In addition to historic inequality that has led to Black people (esp girls) being denied access to education and able to like afford to pursue things on their own, people treat Black women as dumb. They just do. Just as stereotypical as the "angry Black woman" is that they are not smart, from stigmatism against AAVE to just general racism, internalized or otherwise. Portraying a Black girl as smart is not unheard of, but it's something society needs to see more of. It's something We need to internalize and accept and take into our everyday lives. Annabeth being smart and Black is representation we need, for all the BIPOC little girls and the rest of the world.
Annabeth no longer needs to be blonde. She is just as strong of a character as a Black girl, and still breaking stereotypes and working to improve the social view of girls. Perhaps even more.
Representation has power. Media has power. I think it's really powerful that Rick (et al) can see that power they're wielding, and use it to continue to make a difference that is positive and keeping with the spirit and message of the series as a whole.

No guys, casting Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes is brilliant, trust me, just picture this:
Hermes, being the messenger of the gods, knows something’s up with Ares. Because he already caught the vibes Luke is giving off, he decides to try and help out this new kids as an act of goodwill to prove to his son that he gives a shit about demigods.
Zeus, unfortunately, very much prohibited any sort of interference or help because he still thinks Percy stole his shit. The thing is, he said gods can't say anything to help them. So Hermes dresses up in his most Certified Mortal disguise and drops down in front of the crew.
They're all like "Lin-Manuel Miranda??" but without any prompting he starts to rap about not trusting bikers or any gift a son of hermes ever gives you, before vanishing as quickly as he appeared. The trio marks that encounter down as a hallucination from lack of sleep.

It’s so funny to see how much older Walker looks as the series continues, despite it not actually being all that long.
I think we all forget what boys ages 12-17 are like, in terms of physical growth. My younger brother went away for a month and came back 5 inches taller and with a fully adult-sounding voice that he did not have when he left. Walker looking like he’s clearly grown is not completely implausible 😂

I love that Walker protrays Percy’s fighting as sloppy. Because it’s clearly a conscious decision because Charlie bushnell’s and Adam Copeland’s sword fighting is more swift and purposeful. same with Leah’s and Dior’s even if we don’t see their fighting skills as much. But it’s clear that Percy has less experience. Also I cannot wait to see that fighting skill develop into Percy becoming a renowned swordfighter and recognized as one of the best there is.
