Starting off our new project Let there be light we were inducted in groups on how to use a DSLR camera and different lights for photo shoots.

The first session we took group photos of objects that interacted with light on a white backdrop and these are the photos that I find the most aesthetically pleasing and well shot out of the many photos we took. The reason being that they consist of interesting interaction with the light such as highlighting the shine on the metallic objects which looks aesthetically attractive due to the texture.

In addition we experimented with the refracted lights on crystal like objects creating interesting rainbow light. This playful way of using light created a unique visual outcome.  Furthermore we used coloured acetate over the lights to create coloured lighting which vary the mood of the photos.

The use of acetate as a filter on the lights was very interesting an I want to further develop this process on my own photos to see the potential experimental outcomes. I have the idea f using the acetate as a cone on the camera lens to create a kaleidoscope effect which could produce some interesting visual outcomes.
