Proud of this one. I've been loving all of the spider-verse everything the last few years. Gwen and Miles are some of the best marvel has ever done. I hope I've done them justice. On another note, I'll be at #FanX starting tomorrow through Saturday. Please come say hi. It's been a special event for me ever since I started going in 2016. But I think this is going to be my last go at it. For a while at least. Going to conventions no longer aligns with my art goals. And I need to figure out how I'm going to achieve my goals. Someone mentioned they thought my peter was a butch which honestly I'm always down for a lesbian au, but in an actual fem peter au do we think that peter would be butch and would go out as masc spider-man or would go out as a fem spider-woman ala cybersix?

#my thought is as spider-man because its sort of just peter to the max under that mask and i do think #a female peter would still present more androgynously or masculine at least once she got to college and started to faze out of that #very much dressed by aunt may phase that peter clearly had as a teen #but at the same time i feel like every gender swap fanfic goes the same route of doing the masculine presenting spider-man when peters fem #at the same time i feel like it takes away some of the comparisons that you can get between the civilian and the hero #because there would be no reason to compare fem peter to spiderman #where as early on peter is compared negatively to spiderman by the kids in school who find him too bookish and cowardly #vs adults in his life who viewed him as responsible as opposed to the webswinging menace

As much as I like the insomniac Spidey games, the more I see people talking about them in the lead up to the new game, the more I think....

Why do people unironically say that it's peak Spider-Man? Story-wise the first is mid tier at best imo, with the performances carrying almost the entire plot on its back. The Miles game has better character writing overall imo, but severely suffers in the villain department because... the tinkerer is basically just doc Ock again, but worse (spider-man's close friend who via sad happenings turns to the dark side).

The combat definitely carries both games, with MM being a noticable improvement from the first game on that front.

The web swinging. Uh. Exists. (Thankfully insomniac let us know the traversal would be mid tier by giving us fast travel in an open world SPIDER-MAN game, never a good sign)

The side stuff in the first game was mid at best and kinda shit at worst, though that also was definitely improved in MM (and hopefully will be improved further in 2)

Sam Carpenter x Spider Man!Reader

Halloween time had come at last. And yet all was not calm for the Carpenter sisters and you, their friendly neighborhood Wolf Spider. The city was filled with masks and people in costumes. You knew all too well that anyone could wear a Ghostface mask, slash, and blend back into the crowd.

Trouble arrived the night before All Hallow's Eve. A murder of a film school student and his roommate. You snuck into the crime scene, Detective Bailey greeting you politely.

"Normally I wouldn't work with vigilantes" He intones.

"Well we're not under normal circumstances." you answer back. "knife?"

"Matches the slashes we found on that film studies teacher" Bailey answers back. His face goes ghostly pale.

"Ghostface"

"We don't know that yet!"

"Need more proof?" you head to the nearby ledge and swing out into the open air. You knew what it meant for your beloved girlfriend Sam and her sister Tara.

Your ear bud rings with the sound of your cell phone. A glance down to your phone reveals the caller id of Sam herself. Speak of the succubus herself.

"Hey honey" you answer the call. "How was your day?"

"My therapist was a total dick" she huffs.

You keep up the conversation while webswinging through the New York skyline, "Sweetheart, if i know a thing or two about blood, it's that you define you."

"But what about that incident with Richie?"

"I know several heroes who kill bad guys, it's only if you went after some innocent person that I'd get worried"

"Are you swinging?"

"M-Maybe"

"What have I told you about texting while swinging?"

"Well I'm not texting-" WHOOSH! A semi zooms right past you as you course correct your swing. "and that's why I love you so much, Sammie"

"Can you check on Tara for me?"

"Send me the party coordinates" you sigh as you swing toward NYU.

You found Tara drunk and being flirted with an obvious predator.

"Hey the lady and I were heading upstairs" the drunk college student continued pulling on Tara's arm. "Nice costume by the way"

"Sorry pal, you're heading downstairs" you sock the drunk predator straight in the jaw, knocking him clean out.

"I can handle myself, Y/N!" Tara intones before storming out of the party. "You're as bad as Sam sometimes!"

You quickly give chase. And so does Chad and Ethan. You charge after Tara and scoop her up before swinging off into the night.

"Where'd they go, dude?" Ethan asks your confused friend Chad.

"Put me down!" Tara drunkenly orders you.

"Well if you insist" you drop her from the height of your swing. Tara screams on the way down before you swing and scoop her up again.

"Are you crazy?!"

"Drinking's bad for your health and your grades, Carpenter" you offer a smirking smile under your mask. You come and set her down on top of the apartment's roof.

"Why can't you or Sam just allow me to make my own decisions?" Tara huffs.

"When you can start making the right ones." you huff back. "I don't mean to scare you but I can't let you wander the streets alone anymore."

"Why not?"

"Three murders recently." you remove your mask, "I think it might be-"

"Ghostface." Tara immediately sobers up before hugging you tight. "Thank you"

"You're like a sis to me, kid, I won't let anyone hurt you"

"What are we gonna tell Sam?"

"I don't know" you sigh, "could you tell her? I'm still on the hook for the whole texting and swinging incident"

Ghostface was loose in the Big Apple. You already knew who the targets were. Luckily, they had a Wolf Spider to back them up.

I think about Miles babysitting Billie so often. Like forget the comics the Miles i know would never bring a baby webswinging or even try to get her involved in any spider-man business. Rhino attacking? Okay, he’s busy watching over his sister and trying to teach her to say his name, you expect him to care? Doc Ock stealing from someplace? Whatever, it’s Billie’s feeding time, and then he has to put her down for a nap, so he kinda has a full schedule. Huge party down the block and all his friends are there? Have fun without him, because he and Billie are literally playing “mega fairy princess robot battle” right now. He’s so protective over her. The only reason his hero & vigilante friends even know about her is from a 0.3 second slipup he made.

Out of the dark, something grabbed at Miguel's latest target. Or rather someone, who had been watching. Waiting, for the time to strike. "This one... must answer for what they've done here."

On the verge of removing one more crook from the city's streets, a reaching hand grasps at air rather than strained neck, his cowering prize plucked from his lethal clutches by what seemed to be a new face on the scene. Continuing to stare at where the crook had previously sat, crying a river and pledging to change his ways at the slightest threat to his pathetic life, head tilts with a subtle motion, drawn by the detection of movement to the interloper in his midst.

"Quite the claim you've made. Except... why bother?" He'd reached his own tolerance with the captured crook, no more harmful than a moth fluttering against a windowpane. But, whereas it was easy to discount danger springing from that direction, Miguel was... less sure about the one threatening to dispense his own brand of justice.

Nothing about their appearance seemed to scream Public Eye, though their chosen style of dress did feel.... dated. Unsure what exactly that was a sign of, the futuristic webswinger flexed the pointed digits of his empty hand, rolling the shoulder of the same limb in anticipation.

"Mind if I ask what he's done to deserve such wrath? Maybe we could compare notes."

Fellas, I have a confession to make.

I genuiely and unironically believe that Fortnite’s premise to offer me a character for every ocassion I wish to engage in, whether gameplay-related (kinda going meta and stuff), roleplay related (like using only lightsabers with star wars characters, or webswingers with spiderman character) or social related (kratos, master chief, leon kennedy and doomguy playing barbie girl at the festival) really fills their promise of “every character from everything”.

The artstyle, while it has its shortcoming on certain crossovers (Ahsoka looks like shit and you can't change my mind) and certain OC designs (Lennox IRL set), most of the time it stands out on its own with charming visuals and creative colour palettes, like Oscar the glow in the dark tiger, while, in case of crossovers, respecting enough of the original design to still make it recognizeable as that character; and you can totally tell when a character came out of Fortnite just by how they look, the shooter gameplay is fun and compliments the art style, and is so customizable that in case you don't think that, you can make it more appealing to you.

Playing this game reminds me of being a kid and playing with Clone Troopers mixed with Max Steel figures fighting against The Covenant and WW2 Germans just because those were the first toys I grabbed from the top of my box and sure, let's roll with that, I can make up a story to make this work, it makes sense to me and that's all it matters. It’s like one big toy box game that doesn’t take itself seriously, Goku doing the "party party" emote on the hoverboard is actually funny, Omniman dancing to Titi me pregunto after getting a kill always makes me chuckle, Spidergwen holding an RPG and blasting someone into the shadow realm with it looks so disproportionate as the gun is like twice as wide as she is that you can't stop thinking "what did I just saw?".

I enjoy playing the no-build mode and I actually have a great deal of fun with friends, getting into some actually engaging gunfights. The festival mode is actually very engaging and fun, and with the new animations of the Billie Ellish season it looks much more alive, like watching a cutscene, like this mishmash of characters from so many different franchises on your screen performing XO Tour Life by Lil Uzi Vert looks like it belongs together and that you're watching something that was meant to look like that. That hearing Wasted (the Juice WRLD song) vocals with Gamnam Style lead and the basline of Party Rock all backed by the instrumental of Roses is a remix that was meant to happy and this totally wasn't the result of 4 strangers randomly pressing buttons.

Fortnite is not a bad game, y'all are just mean.

This is Redacted, also known as Surfspider.

She’s one part forever hospital patient, one part waterwalking goober. These powers have allowed her to experience the freedom of outside life but also the inherent dangers of superhero life are straining and a lot to handle. This New York is five years after the initial flood, turning the island back into sprawling sea. The streets have been abandoned below as new infrastructure has taken hold to accommodate. A lot of bridges in the sky stuff like that. But everything is still there.

Redacted is sometimes visited by aunt may but she still has a life outside and r encourages her to live it. Redacted still requires help just not to the same extent . Her powers are based off of dolomedes spiders, they are pretty cool ngl. It’s mostly about managing disability not curing it. Recovery all that. She enjoys drawing, talking to people online and lying because it’s fun. (If you’ve ever played wavetale, it’s a similar sort of idea for the walking abilities) she’s unsure of spidersociety but it’s a new place with better food than the hospital she’s held. She’s gay and middle eastern, her taste in women is 50/50 really but that’s neither here nor there

She uses a fishing rod as her webswinging abilities as she’s not equipped with webshooters. She’s got retractable fangs and claws, she’s got venom but it’s akin to a bee sting, not very effective. Can stick on walls the whole shabang
