BOLD OF YOU TO ASSUME I’D TAG PEOPLE
Hi there! Real quick, thank you for spreading love in the zutara community! I see you out there sending asks and hyping people up. I see it, and I appreciate it. You’re awesome ❤️
For 33, what song makes you think of zutara... And I have suddenly forgot every song I know lol! I think “Weathered” by Jack Garratt is kind of my guilty pleasure when imagining a growing old together au.
For 34, fave zutara au, @rllyjohnrlly’s Lifeguard AU (bc I kinda.. sent the ask 😅 so very much biased here) I love modern gaang getting into wacky hijinks at their summer jobs!
For 35, fave zutara fic quote, I cried laughing at “Katara: Blocked” in and expectations she won’t meet by gxldentrio on ao3. It crosses my mind at least twice a day and I want fanart of Katara saying “blocked” SO BAD
Ahh you thought I forgot about this. No, I just took my time. ^^
I was tagged by @daysdreams to make a playlist based on the word ‘daydream’ (I see what you did there) I love music and sharing music so this was really fun for me.
I did 12 songs since that’s an average number of songs on an album, and tried to choose a variety of artists/genres. I also provided descriptions. Most of these are songs that give me a daydream-y feeling, the feeling of being lost in pleasant thought, or something similar.
This took longer than expected, I put a lot of thought into it.
1. To My Dear-I’ll, this is one my favorite Korean songs. the vocals are beautiful and it has such a hopeful and calm feeling. i can imagine laying in the grass looking at clouds or taking a nature walk while listening to this.
2. everythinggoes-RM, I think this song has a very dreamy feel to it, and mono is one of my favorite albums to listen to on walks or rainy days and just think about stuff.
3. God Only Knows-RAIGN, a beautiful dramatic and ethereal cover of The Beach Boys song that always makes me think I’m doing something amazing, like running through a forest to save my true love “I may not always love you/But long as there are stars above you”
4. Weathered-Jack Garratt, go watch the music video, it’s very dreamy and mystical “When I grow old, my weathered soul/And memories recluse, elusive/Help me take them out”
5. Sweet Night-V, A perfect dreamy tune for wandering the streets at night “Now my forever's falling down/Wondering if you'd want me now”
6. Clouds-Before You Exit, ever since Jungkook posted this video and I weeped a thousand tears I’ve loved this song. Perfect for early mornings, evenings, or late nights. “And you jumped on a flight in the darkest of blues/took a trip to paradise/Through the stars and back over moon”
7. Above The Time-IU, maybe it’s because of the gorgeous music video that goes with this song, but it just makes me fantasize about cute things and love and happy moments
8. The Light Upon Us-Talos, gotta thank JK for introducing me to this artist too. I definitely think this song has an ethereal feeling to it, like something magical is happening. “The light was upon us/Covering parts of you”
9. Welcome Back To You-Aron Wright, that song that plays at the end of a film after everything looks grim but then *everything worked out better than expected* and you have hope for the future “Gone is the faith and the chains that's history/Free like a song, like a fire, like water”
10. You liked me in my dreams-Isaac Hong, ok first of all I need more love for Isaac who is a very talented (attractive) artist. This song has a smooth sound and delightful little drum tempo that makes me imagining wandering around in the rain with a cute person. “
11. High Hopes-Kodaline, I see this as a hopeful song for looking toward the future and imagining all the good things that will happen “But I've got high hopes, it takes me back to when we started “
12. Start Of Time-Gabrielle Aplin, I love this song, it’s beautiful and just feels like a brand new beginning. “When you walked into the room just then, it’s like the sun came out”
I don’t know who would like to do this, so no pressure if I tag you lol. I’m tagging @morgaroooo, @big-plans-for-that-fish, @jungshiii, @carswinky, @sculliest, @tataehyungs, @suggamiin, and @slipped-away. Your word is “time”.
‘Love, Death & Dancing’: a look inside Jack Garratt’s multi-instrumental mind
by Raphael Cheong • June 12, 2020
Jack Garratt’s second studio album, split into four volumes, sees the multi-instrumentalist tackle hard-hitting issues of mental health and self-doubt.
To be selected as the critics’ choice for the Brit Awards, win the coveted BBC “Sound of” poll, release a debut album, then fade into relative obscurity might be the end of the road for some artists. But not Jack Garratt.
The 28-year-old, known for his electrifying live performances as a one-man band, released his debut Phase in 2016 to positive reviews. But upon wrapping up his tour for the album, Garratt found himself not quite knowing where to go next.
“It screwed me over completely,” he told BBC in February about comparisons with previous winners like Adele, revealing that he had to scrap an entire album that he had made, opting instead to take four years away to heal himself.
And Love, Death & Dancing is the culmination of that time away. Opener Time, first released in February, addresses Garratt’s reason for taking a break. “You're overthinking, in a rut and terrified / Of giving in to who you are and losing your mind,” he tells himself. The song retains the layered, synth-filled production of his debut, together with his rousing tenor.

Mara, the second track on the “Volume 1″ collection released alongside Time, is an introspective conversation with his inner voices. The song’s namesake is a spirit of temptation in the Buddhist belief.
But the album is not all doom and gloom. Better, the most upbeat track on the record, puts the “dancing” in its title. Containing a bizarrely effective sample of the “Hey, I think you’re really cool” vine, the song is Garratt’s forray into the genre of dance pop. “I’ll sit back helplessly and watch the world descend / Into chaos curated by suited men,” he laments about the state of the world with a lyric that holds even more weight given the events of the past month.
Garratt’s brand of synth-folk is apparent in most of the album. Doctor Please is a synth-fueled cry for help in one’s lowest moments, with an almost Sheeran-ian delivery, both lyrically and vocally. Old Enough is reminiscent of Phase standouts Weathered and Surprise Yourself. “We should be old enough to get things started,” he sings while backed by a choir of synths, electric guitars and pianos.
Where the album falters is with tracks like Mend A Heart and Anyone that see Garratt break away from his formula. The former comes across as bland, Top 40 fodder. The latter, though with a chorus that hits like a sucker punch, finds itself to be uneven in contrast to the rest of the album.
The end result: a somewhat fluctuant effort that loses steam in its second half, but still retains Garratt’s signature sound and confessional songwriting, tackling important topics of mental health that many male singers stray away from. He might still be in the process of solidifying his sound, but Love, Death & Dancing shows that Garratt is still very much on track. Garratt’s performances have always helped sell his songs, and we can hardly wait to be able to watch him at work as a one-man band again.
