She looked at her partner with a blank expression on her face. She had always ignored Alex’s ways until this moment. Alex had a look that conveyed that they knew she wouldn’t do anything about the situation in front of them. Because at the end of the day, what could she do? She loved him with every fiber of her being. She couldn’t just give them up over this. And what even was this? Maybe it wasn’t as bad as she thought. After all, Alex said she had a tendency to overthink. Maybe this was an example of that. She took a stop towards them but continued to look at the floor. She was sure that her eyes and the floor had become best friends at this point. That or the floor believed them to be stalkers. Alex walked towards her and tilted her head up. They looked into each others eyes and she could see something odd in them. Something she wasn’t used to seeing. They leaned in for a kiss and she took a step back. For some reason, she couldn’t kiss them. It would be like kissing a stranger. That’s when that little spark she saw in Alex’s eyes grew into a flame. They chuckled softly but it wasn’t a cute chuckle. It was a chuckle of malice. A bad chuckle. The kind of chuckle you’d send to the time out corner. A smirk grew on his face as he said seven simple words. “You don’t know what you’re dealing with.”
