Fist of the Phoenix
What has been Lohi's unofficial title was made an FC yesterday (Thanks to @paintedscales, @lilvulpix-alex, @bnuuywol & some other friends on the Initiative discord making alts. <3) and I made a silly little flavortext for it that I've been constantly rotating since then.
So, because I have Ideas, I must share.
The Fist of the Phoenix was meant to be a Free Company and minor offshoot of the Fist of Rhalgr so that U'lohi might help out his brother in bringing more Monks back into the fold.
This practice, modeled after U'lohi's own flavor of Monk, marries martial arts with the Hannish style of dance, and a bit of fire-aspected magic. It is fluid in its movements between stances, much like a dance, and more mobile in its fighting style. The addition of long-distance flame attacks allow the Monk to be able to attack even out of melee (Copium. I grabbed DNC for a reason. xD)
Those who join the ranks of the Free Company need not only be Monks, however. Those from all disciplines and jobs are welcome, as we can all stand to learn a lot from one another.
If anyone's on Halicarnassus and wants to join us, feel free!
This was meant to be a silly little FC for Lohi so I could have the actions for him, but if it's able to become a home for others I would be more than happy to share it with you all.

Map Night: Holiday Finery
Another Monday, another treasure map night with the Free Company! Today's theme was 'Wintry/Holiday Finery.' So, sort of like last week, but less 'Ho ho ho's'. The first few shots here were taken around the Empyreum where Z'itlalli calls home.
I honestly love this little one with the snowball. She looks so happy! <3
The next few were taken at our wifey Astraex's alt's FC apartment that was inspired by ugly Christmas sweaters. She did such a great job with this place. It gave plenty of places for great holiday-related poses. (Apartment can be found at: Primal: Exodus, Empyreum, Ward 5, Plot 60, Room 13.)

To address your concerns - this RP is run by and full of humans, who will, of course, make human errors! While there are some very obviously problematic fcs, we might not keep up with all of them, even if we happen to be using one! Our group has proven on more than one occasion that if there is a problematic fc on someone's roster, that writer is more than happy to find an alt or drop that muse altogether, which makes my job - and my fellow admins jobs - far easier.
I want to emphasize that we as admins always have open IMs as well as our ask box so that if we accidentally let a fc slip by, members or anyone else can let us know - I just ask that you treat us with kindness as I assure you, it is never our intention to let someone with a problematic past slip by!

Happy 10th Anniversary to what has become my favorite MMO I've ever played.
I went into why and when I started playing here, but I figured I'd go more in-depth on my characters (and why Ki'to is my main) in this post since it's finally Rising time again.
Warning, long ass rambling post ahead
As I had mentioned, I started playing in late 2020 when a couple friends I played D&D with introduced me to it.
At that time, I created my first character Suna Amantius (Whom I still have for nostalgia, but don't play). Since au ra were free to play at that time, I made her a pink raen Arcanist. Yes, back when carbies gave every arcanist heart palpitations because they used aoe without asking. Thus why it took me a long time to pick it back up again.

We only played together a few times, but since I was so deep into Genshin, I ended up uninstalling since XIV's a massive space-hog.
When I picked it back up for the free 30 days after my other friend bought me the game & expacks, I ended up making a viera named Bunilla Chai over on Faerie since my little brother was playing over there at the time. She was a WHM, and another I have kept for nostalgia's sake. (I sadly don't have a screen for her, but she's cute. uwu)
I kinda main-hopped for a while after I got back into the game and actually subbed in September of '21. I played with Bunilla for a little while, but when the option to make male viera came out with EW, I ended up making one by the name of Kieran Vashanti (The surname being an homage to my old TERA character of the same name; Kieran actually went on to become Seire, and now Vikesh). I co-mained him alongside Orias, my longest-standing OC, who actually started out as an Elezen.

I rotated through this menagerie of mains for a while until I fanta'd and renamed Sprout. Her new name? Nox Vitae.
Yup. My horrible son was initially a sweet lalafell lady. xD
Though he did go through one hell of a transition, from fem lala, to fem viera, to fem miqo, to masc viera (this was about when I had come out to my friends, so I embraced it in my main at the time as well. As such, he started out looking like a self-insert, but took on his own traits after a while. This is also why he is canonically trans ftm, as I see both viera transformations as canon for him. His fem form being what was canon in appearance for Vitae when he and U'nhea were sprouts)
(I did miss Sprout after a while though, so I remade her on Zalera later.)
Alongside Nox, who was my main for a while, I also had an alt on Siren I used to play with other friends, A'razi Tia. He was my first introduction to Monk, as well as catboys. To say I took maybe too many pictures admiring him is an understatement. Before Ki'to, he was my most gposed character. xD
We ended up moving data centers a little while after last rising, and then is when I created Y'rhala and Ki'to, whom I played as alts while I switched back to A'razi for most things.
Once I hit the CT ARs with Razi, my social anxiety got the best of me, and I decided to run an alt for a while and redo ARR. So I picked back up with Ki'to, whom I had made as a pretty ashen moon keeper simply to grab the moonfire outfit last year.
He wasn't meant to be more than an alt. Honestly, he looked like a fuckboy and it made me laugh when I logged him.
Look at this fuckin' nerd.
I do miss his ashen kitty days, truth be told, but I can't fanta him now. He wouldn't look right any other way.
He looked like this until I reached post-ARR. I ended up using his ARR fanta to make him a self-insert, thus his baby-faced face 3 catboy era.
Thankfully, with the FC he joined, I ended up getting help powering through CT and finishing ARR fully. It was post-ARR that I got another fanta and gave him more defined features with face 4, and gave him the face he's known for today.
As I put it on my personal discord:
It wasn't too long after this that I made this blog and captured his adventures through HW and beyond. It was then that I committed to making him my main, as the story had sucked me in and he was my protagonist. I couldn't imagine any other in his place.
Though, the story isn't the only reason he's become my most robust OC ever, that came through story and interactions over here. I'm constantly thankful that I decided to make this blog when I did, because using it as an outlet for headcanons and getting asks from the friends I've made during his journey has made him such a well-rounded character with a clear personality and character arc.
I am very grateful for those of you I've met here, not only have you been some of the best people I've met through this game, but you've all helped to shape Ki'to in some small way. The man fights for love because he was made from love. <3

Transportation Across Hydaelyn
We start off the game in a carriage but, even if you spent 36USD to have your own, and are obnoxious enough to use it everywhere, (it's a 4 person mount. it's not small) all we got is our own two feet. At this point if you want to get anywhere in a hurry you gotta make liberal use of the sprint button and just deal with the cool down
Fun Fact: The game used to have TP which was max 1000 and was used like MP but for all physical damage classes. And Sprint. which, upon use, completely deplete your TP. If you did physical damage and accidentally hit sprint you were useless for the next, like, 30s.
The first true method of transportation you have access to is Teleportation
Aetherytes & Teleportation
Now, you're given a basic run down in your starter city when you first attune and these are pretty straight forward: Attune to the big crystal and then when you are Somewhere Else you can pay gil to now instead be There. Easy peezy lemon squeezy and all that.
What I'm going to tell you about are these options:

You can only visit other servers from major cities so I'll cover that last. In order:
Set Home Point: This is your One Free Teleport with a 900 second (15 minute) cool down between uses and also the place you return to upon death in the field. The game will automatically set this as your starter city when you attune to it. It can be helpful to some to change it as you move through story while helpful to others to Leave It to one spot. Whatever works best for you just don't forget Return exists!
Register Favored Destination: Everyone gets 3 of these without needing to do or pay anything extra. Registering a destination makes the teleport half price. This gets very handy as story goes on and the world gets bigger and TPs much more expensive. (whines in 1200 gil.) If you find yourself returning to a destination a lot, it's probably a good idea to mark it a favorite. All favorites will have a star next to this option once chosen and they will also have a star next to them in the teleport list with the reduced price listed.
Register Free Destination: You get this for having the One Time Password. A neat little reward to encourage extra safety but it does mean that if you're too lazy (or in too much pain, or too tired or-) to grab your phone when logging in it won't be free while you're in game for that session. (I do believe. Correct me if i'm wrong, anyone who knows.)
Now everyone's favorite: visiting other servers. This is still a pretty new feature! It does what it says on the tin. Say you have friends who also play the game but they're on another server you can use the aetheryte in any major city to hop on over to visit them, so long as you're on the same data center. You can visit other data centers, however that's different.
With world visit you can buy things off the market, run partied or solo content, and trade between players. You can not access retainers, send or receive mail, access FCs, non-cross world Linkshells, Housing, Eternal Bonding or any Gold Saucer Tournaments. It's meant for just saying hi and running things with friends or RP, (or for you and your gf to trade things for alts on other worlds), not for you to move in. If you want to do that you're looking for world transfers, not visits.
After teleporting, at level 10 you unlock chocobo porters!
Chocobo Porters

All of the chocobo keeps in A Real Reborn are dressed like this regardless of race. In order to port somewhere you have to have talked to the porter there to register your name in their books. You can generally get at least one settlement over and/or to the center major city with these- like most if not all porters in the Shroud go to Gridania, for example. They are actually quite cheap and they're a much quicker way to transport yourself before you unlock mounts yourself. Once you confirm the game will auto run you all the way to your destination. When you choose it from the list it tells you how long the trip will take as well so feel free to scroll tumblr or grab some water or a snack. You'll be dropped somewhere safe to idle.
The Chocobokeeps in the major cities also allow you to rent chocobos! So if you need to go somewhere you haven't gotten the porter yet or there isn't a porter and you don't have mounts yet this is a wonderful way to get there faster than your little legs can carry you. You have a flat rate of 10 minutes for 80gil. You can dismount at any time but you will lose whatever time you have remaining on that trip (it is rare to need 10m to get somewhere unless you afk.)
And then, we get airships, but there's not really anything to say there.
And then, at level 20 msq, we get mounts.
Company Chocobo & other mounts
This bad boy is your military given right to nyoom. Even if you've purchased mounts online or received them by some other means, you cannot access them until you get this bird. Once you have him (as the game insists they're a he) and name him you can use any mount in the game you have the ability to obtain. Here is where you can use that 36USD chocobo carriage.
Most mounts in the online store are account wide so you pay for them once and have them on every character you have now or will ever have in the future. Whether or not that makes them worth the real money investment to you is entirely up to each and every person for each and every mount.
There are, of course, also plenty of other mounts you can earn in the game through achievements and side content and tribe quests and the like. So even if nothing in the shop calls to you, or you can't justify spending more of your cold hard cash on the game (fair and valid) you can still have plenty of fun and pretty (or ugly!) mounts.
Or, you can, of course, stick with your ever loyal chocobo. this bad boy can fit so much customization in him. if you have access to a stable (an FC house or personal house or apartment) you can dye him! You can get him more and different barding, stable not required! you can mix and match barding pieces! Truly, he's the only one by the WoL's side through their whole journey and he gets the fun custom things for it. That, and because they're one of Final Fantasy's Trademark Animals and we all love them. (but really, my main's bird is sky blue and tiny because he's a Lalafell and I love him so so much.)

Back when I was in the Fallout RPC, it was more or less the norm for people to have different FCs for their muses. For ‘authenticity’ a lot of roleplayers (myself included) used 40s and 50s face claims since they corresponded with the game’s retro aesthetic. For modern-day stuff, we tended to use modern actors and actresses. While some people didn’t use an alternate face claim for verses like this, some (myself included) did. For me, it just really didn’t feel right to have a verse for say, GTA V, and to use icons of Dorothy Dandridge.
Now, I’m on the verge of giving Sal & Eve alternate, older FCs for modern-day stuff because I personally don’t like the concept of using icons from 90s films for present-day interactions. I’ll be thinking to myself of how the fashion isn’t matching, how the color and quality of the media my FCs is in isn’t aligning with that of modern-day films and shows, and in the back of my head I’m going to be thinking: ‘in this icon, Sal is 50 something, but in real life, he’s 70-something. this is some fake shit.’
But beyond that, when I think back to my Fallout days, I remember how much fun I had with alt FCs. Since 2016 I’ve changed the way I’ve roleplayed in the sense that I became more strict about things. Like, Oh! I should only use 3 alternate FCs maximum 😩 These alternate FCs need to look REALLY identical with their eye shape/lips/eyebrows!
And while there should definitely be consistency with appearance, I’ve come to the point where I feel like if an alternate FC doesn’t wholly look like the main FC yet somehow possesses a similar essence, I should just go ahead and assign them to that muse. That’s exactly what I was doing back in my Fallout days. The fandom wasn’t perfect, but I do feel like I was waaay more carefree in the ways I portrayed my character(s).
And anyway, picking alternate FCs is just fun! Because it’s like it unlocks new potential for them.

It’s been about 5 months since I updated our little adventure archive here and we’ve been as busy as ever! Just after the last time I posted the 2nd of the Nier 24man raids was released and as is tradition, for the first couple weeks we ran it as an FC Event with the FC Uniform and it was a blast. It’s unashamedly hilarious to get 18-20 FC Members in uniform with just a handful of pugs who have no idea what’s going on. This tier was the best FC turnout we’ve ever had with nearly a full FC Alliance 3 weeks in a row.
A small group of us that had been working on getting 4x HoH clears for more people have succeeded again with the FC’s 4th Jeudi mount (now at 8 and 9 clears for Drodo and myself respectively). This also came around the time of the conclusion to our 2nd HoH contest which was a score challenge and the winning team got my giant furry beavers as rewards. And because the content lull lasted so long, we did a POTD clear too.
Also on one last semi-personal/non-FC-wide note, Drodo and I finished our Amaro mounts! yay
Now, back to the usual FC stuff. Our FC learning and farm events have been continuing on 2-3x/week like clockwork. Thanks to a handful of new members, and being new players to the game, who immediately got involved in everything we do, we’ve had a lot of options for our events. Of course we continue with gwibber farming adding a bunch of Titania, Innocence, Hades, and Ruby gwibbers to the cavalry. Even with about 50 WoL Ex clears we’ve only seen 1 Light Gwibber (Grats Bishop!), but we’ve been lucky enough to get 3 Emerald Gwibbers in about 30 Ex Clears during the course of our events. Over 75 Gwibbers in the FC now.
Since we don’t always have 8, some nights people just have life stuff to do, we’ve gone back to finish a couple older mounts including another Firebird (27th) and several more Kyubis (15th and 16th) finished with a handful more in progress.
With the content lull lasting so long, just after the last raid tier weekly limit was lifted, we put together a group to farm some of them Daddy Ramuh mounts all the cool kids were talking about. Took a couple weeks but we managed to farm a full team of those sexy mounts. For a change of pace from Ex Primal events, and to relieve the poor drop rates, we also went back to older raids some Kefka, Alexander, and last tier’s Titan mounts. A bunch of new Alte Roite mounts coming soon too.
Our FC turns 4 years old in just about 1 month so we’ll be having a fun little party with a customary group photo shoot and some giveaways.
