ace's canon characterization actually works out in a weird way and there are many times in fanfiction that he's so OOC i cant even continue reading it. (ive read fanfiction where they make ace's backstory like shuns or miras like wtf we doing here).
sgskahskd yeah making ace be from a noble background or giving him a sibling is, in my opinion, counterproductive to making ace an interesting character because all you're doing is giving him mira's backstory. there is an appeal to mira, being from the privileged upper class, fighting back against the royal government and ace fighting back from the place of the common man who has very little to his name.
i just think instead of changing ace or any character for that matter, people should think long and hard abt whether any changes are necessary in the first place and make them in line with that person's canon characterization. contrary to popular belief, canon is actually good sometimes and it's really a shame to see changes to what already works well.
