Cafe 'lif
I have some kind of obsession with coffee shops (literal coffee shops, not the ones in Netherlands, haha). I love coffee, even if I can drink decaf only, and good coffee houses can make this experience even better.
So... One day Insta (again, lol) showed me a fabulous place called Cafe 'lista. A-frame-ish coffeehouse placed in (I guess) rice fields immediately got my heart, and it was the only build I could think of for several months. First try was... let's say, severely unlucky: game and graphic card were going nuts from all the grass placement, and I had to put this project aside for some time until I could figure out how to even place everything. In January I was finally able to finish this place, and I'm really proud of myself with it :3
Warning: since there's still a lot of grass, this place might not be suitable for weaker computers, so use it with caution.
50x50 lot, preferably one in Mt.Komorebi, lighting is gorgeous there, hehe
Was saved as residential just in case but it's fully suitable for cafe type of lot
Key points are playtested with bb.moveobjects on (keep in mind that if something is wrong, sims won't go anywhere even with this code being turned on... trust me *side eyes at all espresso bars*)
CC is partly included, partly were just mentioned in CC-list
Decosims were not saved with the lot.
Required DLC:
Tumblr media
You will also need Get Together EP for this to work as cafe, but! If you don't have this pack, then just replace espresso bar with counters and place coffee maschine and coffee grinder (I used awesome objects from Macaron set by Syboulette) on required places.
Decosims are by @starrysimsie @lazysimmies @xldkx-cc and others. Thank syou so much for your frozen sims :3

ough ive not spoken for some time but . 1. im curious ur takes on finnegan and all of the stuff that comes w him:0
2 ive decided to snap n ask abt . any advice to do w doing crystal nucleus,,
ive not been playing as much sb lately bc . busy . but aa id like to say . im near 500 commisions finally hehe and im a bit pffput as i decided to not collect from my minions until a mayor w skill exp multiplier appeared but apparenly theyre gonna nerf minion skill xp ? augh i couldnt get info abt it besides jus someone saying it but . if so thats kinda tragic </3 -crenshaw121
finnegan is fun!! i'm a freak that actually enjoys collecting pelts so i liked having him as a mayor lol. ALSO THE 10% INCREASE ON JACOB'S CONTESTS IS HUGE that's gonna be VERY helpful in trying to raise the cap for farming 60. the cultivating/math bonus is surprisingly helpful too! i didn't think that one would make a huge difference but getting gold in a few more contests was pretty easy bc of that
about the skill exp, this is a FUTURE plan. possibly wayyyy in the future, but we can't be sure when they'll decide to test it. it was mentioned in the 1.0 design thread, which is currently unfinished. it's not a 100% guarantee it'll even be happening, the thread is open to community feedback and everything will likely be playtested on alpha too
Tumblr media
i'm gonna assume your question about the nucleus meant completing a nucleus run and not just general advice on what to do in the hollows itself, so that's how i'm gonna answer. if you have any other questions feel free to send another ask... also this got long so i'm putting it under a read more 😅
biggest advice i can give is just ask for coordinates! most of the time people are willing to give them out. if they don't have any, use a wishing compass to try and find the structure. you can get them pretty easily from chests. if you're having trouble finding the chests, try to familiarize yourself with some of the rooms! set chests always spawn in the same places in rooms, but you can also dig up chests randomly from the hardstone (less reliable if you don't dig REALLY FAST). and if you need any compasses and i'm online i'll gladly give you a ton. i uh... i have a lot of spares i keep for friends
Tumblr media
every once in a while a lobby might spawn without a structure or with one of them glitched (i've had so many chunk errors in the mines of divan...) so if that happens just hop lobbies. if you find one with all 6 structures relatively easy to reach, consider sticking around! having the tunnels already dug out and all the coordinates listed down is very helpful in getting runs done faster
okay so actually DOING the nucleus stuff. for amethyst... i have no advice. just learn the parkour as best as you can. keys are pretty cheap, but if you're on ironman or something you'll need to find a key guardian or odawa to get keys for runs. topaz is an easier one, bal loses health based on the amount of hits done NOT on the amount of damage done. hit it 100 times with any bow and get out before you burn 👍 if it's been defeated recently, you don't even need to fight. you can just click the crystal and get it. no advice for jade, it's free but annoying, and the time it takes to complete is up to RNG. amber can be easy if you know where the king is. after you've found the king (there's two chests in his room btw if you need goblin eggs, one above him and one below him), the queen should be VERY close by. using a compass should get you to her, so once you've found the king it's pretty much a given. i recommend doing this one last bc the king's scent lasts 20 minutes (unless you touch water), so if you're fast you can just run back to the queen and take the crystal again immediately
and sapphire is the harder one just bc getting robot parts is annoying. if you buy all of them, it'll cost you around 1m coins. this is Fine, you'll probably make it back from the loot in the run anyways, BUT if you wanna farm robot parts ahead of time that can cut down costs. you can farm automatons with high magic find bc they always spawn in the same places in the lost city, OR if you're insane like me and have a lot of powder and hotm6, you can upgrade mole and great explorer and get parts out of chests while mining hardstone in the precursor. i currently have mole 71 (definitely overkill) and great explorer 15. this is all of my spare robot parts AFTER giving ark half of mine
Tumblr media
farming parts like this also gives a lot of powder btw! but it's very boring and VERY time consuming so i understand if it's not your thing
since you said you're close to 500 commissions, keep in mind that the nucleus warp is at 750! that is a major game changer for getting runs done. but until you get that, just remember that the nucleus is always around 500x 500y :]

My current projects (July 2022)
Here's a post to sum up everything I am working on at the moment. I may make more of these posts in the future to help me keep track of things.
Starting new medication in february really changed everything for me. Not only was I able to finish old projects, but I had a ton of ideas and ambition, and here I am, a few months later, drowning in creative projects! A bit overwhelming, but a good thing!
Music
I am arranging YMO's Rydeen for an art challenge. The theme was orchestra, and all the other artist drew themselves or their OC playing an instrument. I decided to join to practice orchestral... well, orchestrations, and use the decent VSTs I finally bought lol. I want to finish quick, the deadline was the end of June (though outher people are late too, so I guess that's not too bad) and I am late alreadyyyy
Writing
I currently have two projects in this category: a lolita fanzine and a TTRPG.
The lolita fanzine is a french fanzine created by a parisian lolita group. I joined this edition to write a few articles and ended up writing a few more, and I am now helping the staff keep in touch with everyone, keep track of progress, I try to do the remaining things that need to be done, etc
The TTRPG is a pretty big project! My s/o and I are homebrewing it together from scratch. S/o is working on the "game" part, I am working on the "roleplay" part, basically. I am currently writing the lore of the country the campaigns take place. I am pretty slow, but I love working on it. In the far future I hope we can have a "deluxe" edition with illustrations by one of our friends, minis by another one of our friends, a gameboard, a CD with music cmoposed by me, and a lot of other cool things!!! But first we have to finish the bare bones and playtest haha ! Sadly, I won't reallly be able to talk about the contents. I'd really love to overshare with friends, acquitances and random strangers, but s/o and me are super scared of plagiarism, so no content sharing before we copywrite it!
Sewing
Shop opening is coming!!! Here are the things I need to do:
Alter a dress for a friend
Finish the pencil cases and take pictures
Make some ribbon hairclips and wristcuffs
OPEN SHOP!!!
And then I'll take a few commissions and maybe also make some ready to ship stock for a few items.
I hope to release preorders for cute plushies pencil cases at the end of the month, but that will be for another post hehe

Sims in Bloom Legacy Challenge for TS3 (◕ᴗ◕✿)
Tumblr media
Hello! I really liked playing this legacy challenge in TS4 but found it wasn’t converted to TS3, so I decided to do it myself hehe. Granted I didn’t look that thoroughly (...hehe...) so I do apologise if this has already been converted before! It’s not an exact copy, of course - there are things TS3 doesn’t have that TS4 has and vice versa, but I tried my best to stay true to the original TS4 rules, with a little bit of my own flair sprinkled in hehe. I am play testing this right now, so if there are any problems with this please let me know!
NOTE: As I’m still playtesting this, the rules are subject to change. Obviously if it’s too late to max a skill/complete a rule I added afterwards, you’re not obligated to do it! Sometimes the ideas don’t come to you until way later, and unfortunately I only have one brain cell :’)
Original TS4 rules can be found here. All credits go to @a-sims-garden for the original, I just converted it! ✿
GENERAL RULES
Complete the assigned aspiration and skills for each generation - career is optional if you have completed the aspiration and vice versa, You can complete both if you’re up to it!
There are two colours associated with every generation. These may be used for genetics (berry/banilla), or just clothes and house decor if that isn’t your kinda thing!
This was part of the rules of the original challenge but honestly I’m gonna ignore it, but if you want the extra challenge, here you go: Start each generation with a small house/apartment and 1000 simoleons. If you want to make the challenge harder, you can start each generation on an empty lot with 0 simoleons (rags to riches style!)
Play on any lifespan you wish, but short is not recommended. (I personally play on normal, long if I’m feeling edgy)
For some gens, there are only three to four traits assigned; the rest will be up to you!
I would love to see gameplay of this in TS3! If you want, @ me or use #s3ib or #Sims3InBloom (hehehehe) (◕ ɔ ◕✿)
Gen 1: Daisy (white, yellow)
Gardening has always been your passion. Owning a large, healthy garden is all you’ve ever wanted in life, even if your nails constantly have soil under them and you have so many broken pots you’ve lost count. However, as with many things, gardening also requires a pretty good grasp on the technical, science-y side of things! You find both to be rewarding - best of both worlds, right? You sit and wonder what your family will grow to do, and hope that they will flourish just as beautifully as your garden has. This is the start of your family legacy!
Aspiration: The Perfect Garden
Traits: Eco-Friendly, Clumsy, Loves the Outdoors, Green Thumb, Loner
Career: Gardening
Skills: Gardening, Science (for a PlantSim)
Try not to buy ingredients from the fridge/grocery store often - grow your own produce, go fishing, etc.
Grow a PlantSim baby
Grow 5 perfect plants
Marry a Sim who shares the ‘Loves the Outdoors’ Trait
Gen 2: Buttercup (yellow, green)
From a young age you’ve always loved animals of all kinds, but you’ve always had a special connection with cats. You spent your childhood playing in your parents’ garden, bonding with stray cats that would wander onto the lot. As a teen you were gifted a laptop for your birthday and you spent most of your time attached to it, always playing video games. As an adult, your love for both video games and cats persisted. While you want to raise a child with love and care like you were, ‘romance’ and ‘marriage’ aren’t things you’re really interested in.
Aspiration: The Cat Herder
Traits: Cat Person, Unflirty, Computer Whiz, Genius
Career: Medicine (pretend you’re a vet)
Skills: Logic, Handiness
Be part of the Nerd social group. Reach the highest level if you can.
Always own at least 3-4 cats - adopting strays is highly recommended!
Never get into a relationship or marry (you can attempt to date for fun but they never work out)
Adopt at least 1 child
Gen 3: Lavender (lilac, dark purple)
You were adopted by your loving parent into a small family, and so you’ve never been much of a people person. Keeping to yourself in your room you discovered your love of inventing, and of course playing your beloved violin. You spend a lot of time on your inventions because every single one has to be perfect!
Aspiration: Monster Maker
Traits: Loner, Perfectionist, Eccentric, Virtuoso
Career: Inventor
Skills: Inventing, Violin (or any instrument you have)
Be part of the Ballet Club as a child and Music Club as a teen, where you pick up violin
Be BFFs with a pet as a child and/or teen
Only have one best friend as a child/teen, and eventually fall in love and marry them
Have a very cluttered house filled with your little inventions - and when you have kids, make all their toys!
Have very high relationships with your entire family and maintain them
 Gen 4: Rose (red, black)
Growing up surrounded by clutter made you crave a brand new scenery, so when you aged up you moved to the big city of Bridgeport to get away from your old home. You crave connection with others, unlike your fairly introverted parent, and so seek to forge many relationships through the wonderful medium of social media!
Aspiration: Super Popular
Traits: Schmoozer, Artistic, Athletic
Career: Blogger (+ any of your choosing bc my dumb ass only just realised this isn’t an actual ts3 career)
Skills: Charisma, Social Networking
Move to Bridgeport (or any city with apartments) and live in an apartment or penthouse for the entirety of your adulthood
Master the social networking skill
Meet your future spouse using the SimFinder app
Have at least 5 best friends (preferably met through online dating/SimFinder)
Gen 5: Forget-me-not (light blue, yellow)
There’s just something satisfying about knowing all eyes are on you. You were born to be in the spotlight; from a young age, you showed great talent in the performing arts! You dream of becoming famous, attending celebrity parties, and owning a large spotless house! But, of course, fame comes at a great cost - if it means you’ll be famous, you’ll even sacrifice the relationship you have with your children...
Aspiration: Superstar Actor
Traits: Commitment Issues, Natural Born Performer, Neat, Perfectionist
Career: Film (Actor Branch)
Skills: Charisma, any music skill
Be part of the Music Club as a teen
Marry a Shy Sim
When you become a 3-star celebrity, throw a party at least once a week
When you become a 4-star celebrity, divorce your current partner and marry a co-worker
Become a 5-star celebrity
Have a poor relationship with your child/children
Gen 6: Sakura/cherry blossom (pink, brown)
Witnessing your parents’ troubled marriage, knowing your world could be turned upside down any day…you vowed to never let your children suffer through the same childhood you did, and marry someone you genuinely loved. You spent a lot of time with your pet dog as a child, a distraction from the troubles at home and the constant hovering presence of the paparazzi. You dreamed of a quiet life without fame and fortune, growing old with the one you love.
Aspiration: Surrounded by Family
Traits: Dog Person, Hopeless Romantic, Neurotic, Nurturing
Career: Culinary
Skills: Cooking, Painting
Marry your first love
Always own a dog - have high relationships with all dogs you own
Go on a date at least once a week
Paint a painting for every room of your house
Have a mix of biological and adopted children (your decision to consider adopted children as heir or not!)
Gen 7: Tulip (orange, red)
You’re a wine connoisseur - you love all things nectar, and can tell good wine from bad with just a look. How, at your young age? Uhh… next question! Good nectar begins with good grapes. So you move out into the countryside to live in the middle of nowhere, determined to start a nectar collection all nectar enthusiasts would die for.
Aspiration: Bottomless Nectar Cellar
Traits: Vegetarian, Good, Snob
Career: None
Skills: Nectar Making, Handiness
Join the Scouts as a child
Move to a “rural” town - up to you which one, not really sure if any TS3 EPs comes with a rural town like Henford-on-Bagley lol (I believe Riverview is kind of a rural-ish town?)
Do not get a job
Earn money by selling nectar, and maybe some of your produce!
 Gen 8: Lily (white, green)
As a child you had an overactive imagination and were obsessed with the supernatural. However, even as an adult, this fascination with the arcane hasn’t waned. Determined to prove that your efforts to investigate supernaturals won’t be fruitless, you move to notoriously spooky Moonlight Falls in search of concrete answers.
Aspiration: Mystic Healer
Traits: Bookworm, Insane, Genius, Supernatural Fan
Career: None - sell your elixirs!
Skills: Logic, Alchemy
Be turned into a witch as soon as you move to Moonlight Falls
Earn money by selling your elixirs at the consignment store - you can have part time jobs but they never really work out
Live in Moonlight Falls your whole adult life
Have at least 1 friend of each supernatural species
Marry a werewolf, who helps you find ingredients for alchemy ;)
 Gen 9: Pansy (purple, yellow)
You were surrounded by trees for your entire childhood, and so you’ve always craved a change of scenery. You’ve never seen the ocean, until you spontaneously decide to move to the far off land of Isla Paradiso! Relaxing on the sand, immersed in island culture, partying till the sun comes up - what could be better?
Aspiration: Grand Explorer
Traits: Lazy, Loves to Swim, Virtuoso, Party Animal
Career: Self-Employed Diver - but don’t work that often!
Skills: Guitar, Diving
Live on a houseboat
Fall in love with a merperson, but wait until you’re an elder to marry them
Host a party (pool party in summer, juice kegger...whatever floats your boat! pun intended) at least once a week
Earn some extra cash by playing for tips
Gen 10: Hydrangea (dark blue, pink)
While your parent was content with spending all day relaxing on the beach, you’ve always had larger ambitions. The quaint island life is not for you, so as soon as you can you apply for university to build a reputable career for yourself. However, you’ve always found joy in things other people may think are childish, which may distract you from your career from time to time. You dream of living in a large house filled with love and family.
Aspiration: Mansion Baron
Traits: Ambitious, Family Oriented, Childish, Workaholic
Career: Any
Skills: Writing, Charisma
Graduate University and earn the necessary degree for your career
Marry a sim who also has the Childish trait
Have at least 4 children
Help your children with homework as much as possible (or all the time!)
[OPTIONAL] Gen 11: Death flower (dark red, white)
You’ve always known you were different from everyone else. Your siblings were always nice to you and had ambitions to do good in the world, but you were born with no such morals. You hear legends of powerful vampires, with inhuman strength and living for multiple lifetimes. You want that power, and will stop at nothing to get it.
Aspiration: Emperor of Evil
Traits: Evil, Kleptomaniac, Snob, Brooding
Career: Criminal
Skills: Mixology
Narrowly escape death twice. Have a loved one (the only one you love and who understands you #emo) revive you using a magic lamp!
After you die the first time, search high and low for a death flower. This can be obtained through various means...
Get turned into a vampire after your second time dying - fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!
Always drink from sims, never plasma
Turn at least 5 sims into vampires
That’s all folks! Let me know how you go~ ✿

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update+ 05/Feb/2021
Was a long week this week, but I got a lot of accomplished so it makes it worth it!
Finished off the final test playthroughs for Chapter 5, which I did during the evenings this week so it didn't eat into writing time. Though on one of them, I accidently clicked the wrong Detective for the LI, and it was really weird playing through with the wrong LI for him :D I usually use Kingsley to test out a stoic MC x Ava, but I ended up with Farah, and it was strange playing this A-romancer with bubbly Farah, hehe! It brought up some different paths though, which is what playtesting is all about!
But it's finally gone! Chapter 5 is finally out of my hands and has been sent to SpunkyCat for editing.
I then focused on N's scene for Chapter 6 after finishing the opening section, which has been a blast (as some of you may have already seen from my gif post earlier this week :D).
It's a very different scene for N and the romance, and I've been waiting a very long time to get some angst into this romance, hehe!
Not that it has to be angst, it all depends on how your MC reacts, or even if your MC reacts one way and then changes their mind in the choice set that comes after.
But guys, I was loving it, I was actually vibrating I was SO into it!
There's actually more I have to write to it, but there's a big choice set to do first (each of the romances have their own scene and big choice set on how to deal with what's happening, but those differ obviously as each LI will deal with stuff differently, leading to different choices for the MC to pick from), after that though is the fall out of what your MC did and how N feels about what they did!
So...that was pretty vague :D I seriously don't want to spoil anything (even though I've spoiled the fact that the angsty moment is coming up...), but I can't wait to see how all you N-mancers react when it's released in the final demo!
I also wrote the Valentine's scenarios for Patreon and scheduled those up. And 'cause I totally forgot to list them with the dates like I normally do, and people were asking if I could, here's the list of the upcoming Valentine's Patreon Scenario Specials!
February 4th (Already released) - 'Awash in Rose...' (Mason/Morgan)
February 11th - 'Not the one they want...' (Adam/Ava)
February 18th - 'Hand drawn Heart...' (Felix/Farah)
February 25th - 'A Little Pick Me Up...' (Nate/Nat)
As I warned already on Patreon, I try to avoid deep romance stuff when writing Patreon scenarios as I don't want to spoil it, but I totally went deep, deep romance for M's and F's this time! So just be warned to steer clear of those if you don't want to be spoiled on how things will feel for the deeper romances :D
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend, and I'll talk to you soon! <3

Assignment 3 - Kurogawa's Plight Development
Initial Conceptualisation - Week 10 (Part A)
Assignment 3a proved to be relevant to my learnings during my racing game development process, in that it focussed on conteptualisation and creating an outline for development and design content. Unfortunately both of my group mates preferred that we did not create a mind map and instead tracked a brainstorming session via a dot pointed list which also contained certain visual/control requirements for each feature. Reflecting on my readings of Fullertons textbook, and since I believe an engaged and enthusiastic group is a good group, I employed Chapter 6 concepts such as "No criticism", "Shout it out", and "Put it on the wall" (Fullerton, 2018) to break the ice with my group and initiate a productive discussion. This worked quite well and we came up with a lot of interesting extensions and formal elements to enhance the current prototype, which was based off the platformer game I developed at the beginning of the semester, Kurogawa's Plight. From this point we employed the concepts of "Technical Feasibility" and "Aristic Considerations" (Fullerton, 2018), as well as realistic development timelines (learnt during IGB181 and our prior GDevelop experience) to refine the scope into a realistic development plan and feature list. Below it the final result of our brainstorming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kurogawa's Plight V1 - Week 11
For Version 1 we focussed on polishing the existing mechanics from my personal platformer development time into a more playable state (my initial concept was very buggy as throwing a Spear with a platform behaviour does weird things sometime), as well basic Attack mechanic for both the Player and the Samurai enemy. We additionally swapped the existing Frog enemy out for a more artistically relevant Ninja, and a basic level to convey these concepts to a naive tester to identify some of the core gameplay issues, and determine whether they were rooted in design or simply execution. My contributions are listed below since poor coordination and scheduling resulted in a disregard for the Gantt chart despite my efforts (RIP Mr Gantt):
Player sword attack (animation included)
Samurai sword attack animation polish
Level design (simply to showcase mechanics and provide an insight into the visual aesthetic developed by Brysen)
Refer to the Kurogawa's Plight Playtesting post (section V1) for playtesting discussion and insights.
Tumblr media
Kurogawa's Plight V2 - Week 12
Week 12 saw quite a lot of changes and improvements to Kurogawa's Plight. A revised level was developed with the aim of it functioning as a soft-tutorial, which forces players to understand a each mechanic one by one before being able to proceed. A particular touch I liked was that players must stand on a spear as a platform to access a locked area, and then must create a spear platform to exit it (we replaced the double jump mechanic with a restrictive wall jump to prevent players from simply leaping over challenges).
Tumblr media
Additionally I aimed to improve the game feel through wind-up and wind-down timers on the Samurai and Player melee attacks sespectively, to telegraph the danger of the Samurai attack, and add a weighted feel to the players (I also prevented either object from moving whilst attacking to encourage intentional inputs and entice players into thinking before acting). I utilised hit boxes to achieve the effect of the animation only applying damage whilst the sword was actually slashing in the animation as the importance of developing attacks this way was illustrated during the IGB220 lecture content.
(please excuse the gross yellow filtering on the demonstrative gif's, I used a bad mkv to gif converter but I dont know how else to do it hehe)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The final segment I worked on was inspired by my analysis of system relationships throughout the semester. This was the Ninja's grapple hook mechanic which allowed them to grab a thrown player spear out of mid and and return it to them, dropping any grabbed spears upon death.
Tumblr media
Kurogawa's Plight V3 - Week 13
Ah the final week of development, at this point the game was feature complete and we focussed level design polish, game feel polish, as well as and intro screen, second level, and ending screen to make the experience much more cohesive.
I spent a lot of my energy this week on general polish by tweaking animation timings, input feedback and the like so there unfortunately isn't much to talk about on that front, I just strived for a balanced experience and tried to ensure that each mechanic (which was developed individually) merged well together and ran as smoothly as I could at my current skill level. Additionally I added an aiming reticle for the spear and grapple hook as two of the playtesters were observed to not intuitively understand that the projectiles were mouse aimed.
I did manage to fix that pesky bug where players could get a spear stuck in a wall behind them when throwing it away from the wall, it was achieved by just using a timer that prevented the spear from being stopped for a certain time after throwing (a simple fix but it works well)
Tumblr media
I also added sound effects to almost every action/interaction in the game to drastically improve the perceived response of the game, as discussed in the Asteroids post-mortem this really ties a game together. As a quick sidenote I actually directed a friend of mine who made all the sounds himself. While what we were making is of course very basic it was a really enjoyable insight into creative direction and working with someone of a different discipline (which is the exact style of work I would like to do in the future, DXB205 also revealed how much I enjoy this process as I worked with artists and producers to develop a TTRPG book while I focussed on gameplay and the game world). I unfortunately can't seem to attach the sound files in a tumblr post but please feel free to view the gameplay preview in Assignment 3 if you wish.
Speaking of improved game feel. I also added much better feedback for when the player character takes damage. Similar to other games they now are pushed backwards in a brief stun period which clearly communicates the instance of damage to the player (combine this with sound effects and its hard to miss). Similarly Brysen implemented checkpoints along the level to reduce frustration amongst newer or more inexperienced players (who also fall under our target audience and who will likely playtest the final product).
A second level was also added which contains the win condition of cutting down the opposing armies flag to signal you have successfully cleansed the tower of enemies (Part A divulges much more of the story detail I didn't think it was necessary here). This cut to the second level is quite jarring as it only really exists for performance sake (the idea was a single tall tower as a level), as the laptop we are conducting playtesting on cannot run the game at its full size at an acceptable framerate (~15 fps as a whole level).

Hmmm...how about 1-30? :-P ["I don't know" is a perfectly valid answer to ones you may not have an answer for yet, and so is guessing.]
Hi @prionailurus!! :D
1. What’s the first game system ( __ Edition D&D, Rifts, GURPS, Shadowrun, etc.) you ever played?
5th edition D&D! I sat in on a Pathfinder campaign once but didn’t actually get to play.
2. What’s the most recent one you’ve played?
Also 5e!
3. What’s your favorite system?
5eeeeeee
4. Is there a system you’d like to play but haven’t?
I’d like to play Pathfinder so I can try the Oracle class out. I’m also interested in another RPG called In Nomine.
5. Are there any systems you’ve tried and did NOT like?
Haven’t had the chance to try any unsuccessfully!
6. Do you have any house rules for the system(s) you play?
Not really? Mostly we have house-handwaves of certain aspects we’re too nooby to enforce, like spell components and rations, and spell prep. That Pathfinder session I watched left me with a house rule I’d love to implement though, that Barbarians can redo a bad roll by punching the table to “pop” the dice.
7. Do you DM/GM for your group?
Occasionally! In my group, I and two others take turns being the DM. Comparing notes without spoilers is a real thorn in the side.
8. Do you say DM or GM?
DM for D&D. I imagine that GM is more fitting for other systems.
9. Do you have a go-to setting?
If I understand the question right, my group’s running campaign is in an ever-expanding homebrewed world of no name, which canonically has an Austria and a New Orleans. There’s a LOT of misty coastal towns, because that’s in the aesthetic of all three DMs.
10. Have you ever run a game, or do you prefer to just play?
I’ve run three campaigns, and there’s a special magic to running, but I do really like playing and being able to get into character. DMing carries a lot of pressure, too.
11. Do you play with game mats and/or minis?
We have a wet-erase mat we keep forgetting to erase and a small set of minis for the party. NPCs and small monsters are played by Monopoly pieces, big bads are amiibos and other kitsch owned by the DM who hosts at his house.
12. How old were you when you first started gaming?
25 c: I’m new
13. How often does your current gaming group meet up?
Weekly, usually, but sometimes we skip a week or two because of scheduling conflicts.
14. How often would you LIKE to meet up for gaming?
Ideally weekly as a minimum. Twice a week would be rad. A week can be a long time to wait!
15. How long do your gaming sessions tend to be?
4 hours min to 6 max. Anything past 5 and people start to disengage and get sleepy because we start in the evening, because scheduling.
16. How long would you LIKE your gaming sessions to be?
I would love to have all-day games, at least for Big Plot Occurrence sessions. With snacks.
17. Have you tried/had any luck with Roll20?
I’ve been trying to connect with a group on there with no luck thus far. I want to use it to playtest some other characters I’ve brewed up.
18. What’s your preferred gaming beverage?
Whatever beer the host is willing to part with, hehe.
19. What are your preferred gaming snacks?
I don’t really snack, we get dinner during our game sessions. Usually sandwiches or pizza.
20. What are your superstitions or rituals regarding dice?
I named a few of my d20s (Rocky, Misfit, Elf One), and I switch between d20s depending on the task at hand. (Rocky is for strength, Elf one is for charisma, Misfit is for attack rolls, etc) I also have a REALLY SHARP d4 from a high-quality set I bought on sale, which I’ve dubbed the 𝕯4 𝖔𝖋 𝕯𝖊𝖆𝖙𝖍 and keep it out for poking people when they have bad gaming etiquette.
Other than that, I mostly just put misbehaving d20s away and switch to my first d20, which rarely lets me down.
21. Do you know anyone with really good/bad/weird dice luck?
Yes! My good friend has NEVER rolled well on initiative in all the times we’ve played. He always rolls 8 or lower.
22. What would you say is your alignment?
Chaotic good, I’d like to think.
23. What is the class you’d like to be?
I’d love to be a bard. Magic and music and charm out the wazoo.
24. What class do you think you’d actually be?
Probably a fighter. I’m good at music, but charming I’m not. Brute strength is where I excel irl. (I do play rugby, after all.)
25. What weapons would you wield? [@thewhiteboardofkanjisan] (It me!)
Sword! I would love to wield any kind of sword.
26. If you could cast one spell, what would it be? [@thewhiteboardofkanjisan]
Probably Fly, or maybe Polymorph.
27. What school of magic would you specialize in?
Either Divination or Evocation!
28. If you could have any creature - real or fictional - as a familiar, what would it be? [@thewhiteboardofkanjisan]
Gonna agree with you, pseudodragon is the WAY TO GO! For a real animal, though, I’d pick a klipspringer antelope or a Honduran white fruit bat.
29. What was your favorite character to play? [@thewhiteboardofkanjisan]
My currently-only character, Mariya, a CG half-elf ex-acolyte bard loosely based on Maria from The Sound of Music. Over time she’s grown away from the source material in a lot of ways. Depending on what the DM does with Mariya’s backstory, I might give her an alignment shift to LN and heavily multiclass in warlock for the second half of the levels.
30. Do you tend/prefer to play characters of your own gender/orientation?
I’ll shake it up with gender, but my group’s world tends to operate under the rule that Everyone Is Bi Always. One time a plot-hook NPC swapped genders mid-session with no in-world explanation just to make it a little gayer (Landon the lighthouse widower. Poor fellow. That’s a story for another day.)
31(Which I’m adding because I think you sent me the ask before this one got added).   What do you, primarily, get out of roleplaying? That is, is it for fun with your friends, to experiment with being people who you are not, or something else? [@aetherspoon]
For me, D&D is both freeing and gives me validation I can sometimes miss in real life. I can be things the real world doesn’t allow, but I can also remind myself that Real World Daisy is talented, a good team member, has ideas worth sharing. D&D helped me make it through my final semester of grad school when a really bad semester-long group project was giving me hella anxiety. (I actually wrote an article for the student newspaper about why business students should play D&D. I’ll share it if anyone wants, though my name’s attached to it, but I’ve totes shared that info on here before so it’s nbd!)

Gamma World 8 Playtest (Part 3)
((Re-upload for tumblr censorship))
DM: So last thing that happened was Loni had sex with the badger babe. I’m not sure what Serana was doing during that though.
Serana: She was just sort of.. waiting really, thinking to herself.
DM: Okay so after all of that the badger gives Loni a kiss and says “Thank you for saving my daughter by the way,” then allows you to wait there in her shack until nightfall when it will be easier to get around.
Loni relaxes next to Serana and smiles contentedly.
Serana: “You’re welcome… I simply did what was right.”
DM: Alright so you are waiting in the shack until after dark unless your plans have changed. While you wait the badger informs you her name is Britannia and Sticks came home and told her what happened after the guards ushered her into the homestead, so she rushed out to find you and hopefully keep you from getting killed. It’s night now so you can go ahead with whatever you want.
Loni: Okay, well hopefully with her help we can make it to the cave?
Serana peers out the door watching to make sure things are clear.
DM: Britannia tells you that the entrance into the metal cave is in the ground floor of the tower down in the center and lowest level of the pit. But she warns you they have a “guard dog” in there to keep the children from wandering down into the cave. It’s probably not going to like non-badgers coming in either.
Serana: “How do you suggest we deal with it?”
Loni: “I think I can handle a dog.”
Britannia: “Be sneaky and don’t wake it?” she suggests.
Serana: “Yeah but we don’t need the entire place waking up to some mongrel barking.”
Britannia: “Oh it doesn’t bark.” Britannia smirks.
Loni: “I have a way with animals.” Loni cocks a sly smirk.
Serana: “Doesn’t bark.. when you say dog… what do you mean, EXACTLY?”
Britannia: “It’s a yexil~ Very sweet. Great with the kids.”
Loni: Nature roll. Roll(1d20)+2: 19,+2 Total:21
Serana: 22
DM: Okay you both know what a yexil is.
Tumblr media
Loni: “Still an animal. I can handle it. And if not, I have a backup plan~”
Serana: “Alright…”
DM: I’m typing a description of what you know.
DM: They are flying predators. Sharp teeth. Laser eye beams. Known to eat people. They prize cloth, fabric, and other garments, which they also find delicious.
Loni: Great. A killer dragon moth. Okay, off we go, sneaking toward the tower?
DM: Okay. Give me stealth checks then.
Loni: Roll(1d20)+3: 13,+3 Total:16
Serana: 25
DM: Loni knocks an empty can of Bush’s Baked Beans with her foot on the way down, sending it clanking over the edge of the next ledge.
Loni finds a nice shadowy place to hide and listen for anyone coming to investigate.
Serana pushes herself against the side of the spiraling path downwards, blending in with the wall.
DM: Give me new stealth checks for that. Or if you actually put Remain Unseen on your sheet instead of adding it to stealth you can roll that instead if you want.
Serana: Okay. 20
Loni: Roll(1d20)+3: 20,+3 Total:23
DM: Okay well I rolled an 11… So a badger comes out of his shack and looks around then grumbles something about dumb kids and goes back inside.
Loni: Okay. Resuming the trek to the tower.
Serana continues down with Loni.
DM: As you make it to the bottom level of the pit where the tower is. You notice that the foot path leads right up to the door. But you also notice that just to the right of the path before you get to the tower door there is a large crater in the ground. In the dark you may not have noticed it if not for the fact that there is a green glow coming from inside it.
Loni: Animal Control.
DM: On what?
Loni: Well I’m assuming the whatsit dragon moth is hiding in the shadowy hole?
DM: You try animal control but nothing happens. You are attempting to control a hole in the ground.
Loni: Okay, well fuck me then. Moving on. Let’s check the hole in the ground then.
DM: You are approaching the crater? Both of you or just Loni?
Loni: Hm… You know what? It’s time to play my hole card.
Serana hangs back, watching.
Loni wants to find a nice, quiet, sheltered spot in the deep shadows.
DM: Okay. Done. What now?
Loni starts inflating her “friend”.
DM: Hehe~ You find a small ripcord on the Inflatable Friend and pull it. As you do it inflates in a matter of moments.
Loni: Well that’s handy.
Serana watches the hole closely.
((Enter Player 3.))
Fluttershy: The inflatable friend comes online and looks around, speaking softly. “My name is Fluttershy and I am your inflatable friend. Please register users.”
-Picture removed-
((Yes, this is what they settled on for the Inflatable Friend. I should also point out is was given to a third player to be her character. And no… No I’m not even sorry.))
Loni smiles. “Two users. Lonicera and Serana.” She gestures to Serana.
Fluttershy nods. “Ownership has been registered. How may I serve you, Mistress?”
Loni: “Go take a look into that hole over there and tell me what you see.”
Fluttershy makes her way to the glowing hole and peers in.
DM: Inside you see it is just a big hole in the ground. Looks like it may have been caused by a meteorite hitting or something like that. There is nothing in it now. The glow is coming from the ground itself. And I also need you to tell me what your Reflex is, Fluttershy.
Fluttershy: Oh um… 16.
DM: The ground around the edge starts to crumble as you get near enough to look inside but you manage to jump back before you fall in.
Fluttershy: So it’s not like a tunnel? Just a glowing dent?
DM: Yes.
Fluttershy: I go back to my mistress and report that it is a glowing crater.
Loni: Well that’s splendid but not what we’re here for. We are at the base of the tower, right?
DM: Yeah. The crater is to the right of the path just before you go in.
Serana: I send the airhead to head into the tower to see what happens.
Fluttershy: I’m happy to obey~
DM: As Fluttershy inters the tower she finds that it’s 40 foot round room with a 25 foot high ceiling. There are stairs on the far end of the room wrapping round the wall in a spiral. They lead up to the next floor of the tower and down into what you assume is the metal cave. Hanging from the ceiling you see the yexil, hanging upside down, asleep with it’s wings wrapped around itself.
Fluttershy: I motion for my mistresses to follow and be very silent.
Loni: Roll(1d20)+3: 8,+3 Total:11 stealth
DM: Okay and are the rest of you going in as well?
Serana: 26 stealth.
Loni: So that’s a yes.
DM: Loni seems to be having an off night. She steps on a loose flagstone and it makes a stone clink. The Yexil twitches and opens it’s eye, looking around the room.
Fluttershy: Quietly eeps.
Serana stays close the ground, using her claws to move quickly low to the ground, to maintain stealth.
DM: As it spots you all it lets out a roar like a big cat and spreads it’s wings, giving them a warning flap.
Fluttershy: Okay, Mister Yexil. Just calm down. We’re not here to hurt you. Be a good boy and go back to sleep.
DM: Serana is still making her way across the floor? It blasts a laser beam in front of her to stop her from moving forward.
Serana growls. “Fucker,” she says under her breath.
Loni would like to attempt hypnosis. Roll(1d20)+6: 12,+6 Total:18
DM: Okay that’s a high enough roll.
Loni: I want to convince it that it saw no intruders and it should just go back to sleep until dawn.
DM: Well… not at all how I expected that to go… but you did beat it’s Will save so okay. I guess that worked. It wraps it’s wings around itself and goes back to sleep.
Loni: “Good work, rent-a-slut. Let’s get moving.”
Fluttershy: I beam happily and follow my mistress.
Serana gets up and follows, bipedal again. “Certainly is an interesting piece of technology you have here.” She sticks her hand into the back hole of the slut. “Expanding, interesting.” She gives it a slap on the ass.
Fluttershy: Yelps and goes stiff, letting out a languid moan of pleasure.
Loni: Sure makes a handy distraction, that’s for sure.
DM: So I guess you are heading down the stairs?
Serana: Yes.
Loni: Yep.
DM: Okay give me one sec. Serana has a question about her gear and I have to look it up real quick. Should just take a moment.
Loni: No rush.
((Gear question answered.))
Serana: The crystalline spear on Serana’s back pulses with red light, flashing the corridor softly.
DM: As you go down the stairs into the first chamber of the metal cave you find yourself in some kind of facility with steel walls and floors. It’s lit by dim emergency lights. There are 3 badders in the room, sitting at a table on the left side of the room. One is slumped over the table asleep. The other two are looking at some old magazines, snickering and occasionally holding one up to show the other a picture in it. In the center of the room there is a large machine. It’s a large, round cylinder slowly spinning in two struts that hold it up. It glows slightly and gives off a humming sound. One of the struts has a control box on it. Hanging from the ceiling near the machine are several rusted bar cages that hold vacant-eyed humans.
Loni: Is Fluttershy immediately identifiable as a sex doll?
DM: Uhh… Not if you have never seen one before I guess.
Serana: So, uh.. rolling insight to see if I can identify anything else telling about the caged humans?
Loni: Is there any reason to suspect that these guys wouldn’t know what she was?
Serana: 18
DM: Well she is a pretty rare item. So chances are good they haven’t come across one before. Serana, you can see from looking at them they seem like they are in some kind of a trance or other such altered state of mind. They look totally unaware of what is going on around them.
Loni: Okay. I whisper to Fluttershy.
Serana: Science to see what the spinny doodad is.
Fluttershy: Oh um… Okay, I pull myself up to an alluring posture and walk out with my hips swaying and my cock and tits bouncing. I put a distressed look on my face. “Excuse me, gentlemen. Could you please help me? I’m a sex doll and I seem to have lost track of my owner. Oh he’ll be ever so cross with me if I’m not there to take his throbbing member.” And then um… Roll(1d20)+1: 13,+1 Total:14 interaction check to try and be as sexually alluring as possible.
Serana: 17
DM: Okay. Fluttershy, as you do this the two who are still awake drop their magazines and jump up in alarm, but once they see who is talking to them and have a moment to process what you just said, they start grinning and walking towards you calmly. “How did you get in here sweet thing?~” One asks. “Never had a thing for cock before but on something like that it doesn’t look so bad,” the other comments.
DM: Serana you are not sure what this machine is. You have never seen anything like it before. Your best guess is that it is something that merged over into that location from an alternate reality during the Big Mistake. It is totally alien to you.
Serana has to make a conscious effort not to start talking aloud about the thing, her desire to study it, very strong…
Fluttershy: I’m not sure. I got separated from my master and went looking for him. I wound up here.
Badder1: “You don’t need a master who lets a sweet thing like you get lost. Why don’t you come keep us company. Guard duty gets boring in the middle of the night.”
Badder2: “But I’m sure we can find ways to pass the time together~”
DM: The two badgers are right in front of Fluttershy now.
Fluttershy: I bite my lip and push my hips forward. “You boys will keep me company until I can go find Master in the morning?”
Badder1: “Yeah, we’ll make sure you have lots of fun~”
DM: One is giving her boobs a testing squeeze while the other is running his hand along the length of her cock.
Fluttershy shudders and gives a plaintive whine. “You’re so nice~ Thank you.”
DM: They take her by the hand and start trying to lead her away towards a small office on the side of the room. There is a door leading into it and a large wire mesh safety glass window in it. (You know… those windows made to resist being broken.)
Fluttershy: Goes along without resistance
Serana has grabbed the spear on her back, just the handle end. She’s whispering to Loni. “There’s no way we can just sneak past them, even if they’re busy. And I need to get my hands on that thing in the middle.”
Loni whispers “One is sleeping, the other two are in another room. Cakewalk.”
Serana rubs her temples. “I need time.”
DM: As they lead Fluttershy into the office they close the door so they won’t wake up their “friend” and have to share. You can see through the window they are wasting no time getting their clothes off and getting Fluttershy up on top of a desk.
Loni: “They aren’t coming out in a hurry.”
Serana: “Fine,” she says, moving towards the device.
Fluttershy: Gleefully complies with the Badders, having been told to do whatever was necessary to distract them for as long as possible.
DM: Okay Serana, this thing is huge. Think something like an alien turbine the size of a car.
Serana starts circling around, getting a better look.
DM: As you get near to the machine I need a Will save.
Serana: 31
DM: You feel it trying to effect your mind but you manage to resist it.
Serana: “Careful around this thing.. its got some sort of mental effect.”
Loni uses her um… Identify Mental Power. Roll(1d20)+3: 16,+3 Total:19
DM: Okay you draw near enough to feel just a tinge of what the machine is trying to do and realize right away that it is trying to erase your mind.
Loni: “It’s a mind eraser. Be careful.”
Serana: “Fascinating…” she says, looking for a control panel.
DM: I did say there was a control box on one of the two struts that holds it up.
Serana: How high up is it would you say? Like the struts go up how far?
DM: The struts are about 7 feet tall. I wouldn’t suggest trying to get under the spinning part, even laying on your back, unless you want to risk your clothing getting snagged by it. The control box is just below eye level.
Serana sighs. “I can’t get to the control box.”
DM: Yes you can. It’s on the side. Sorry.
Serana: Oh, okay. I thought you said it was on the struts. She moves over to the control box and looks over it to see if there’s a simple way to shut it off or anything like that.
DM: On the outside. The spinning part is held between them. Think… a rotisserie spit.
Serana: Ahh, okay.
DM: Do you want to make a check?
Serana: Sure. 21 sci
DM: You are able to figure out how to turn the machine off.
Serana: I turn it off!
Loni: Wait! Is the machine making noise?
DM: A slight humming sound.
Loni: Oh okay. Then they shouldn’t notice it shutting down through the door. Carry on.
Serana: Well, she shut it off.
DM: As the cylinder stops spilling it also stops glowing and you notice that feeling you were getting of it trying to effect your mind goes away.
Loni goes over to the sleeping guard and checks for weapons.
DM: Mace and crossbow.
Loni takes the mace and smacks him over the back of the head to make sure he doesn’t wake up and spot us.
DM: Heh~ Okay.
Loni: What are the room’s exits?
DM: Well there is the stairway you came in from. The door to the office, and on the far side of the room there is another door. And through the window you can see the other two guards are busy fucking Fluttershy and haven’t noticed you. One taking her from behind and the other with his cock shoved in her mouth. The humans in the cages still haven’t moved.
Loni: I take it their minds have been erased. “They must have been effected by that machine. They won’t make any noise. Let’s go.”
Serana: “I Shudder to think what would have happened had i not resisted it…“ She follows Loni.
Loni ignores the caged humans, gives a thumbs up to the balloon bimbo, and heads through the other door.
DM: Okay hold on one sec. I’m trying to find the XP chart to figure out how much XP you level at. Because I need to give you XP for what you’ve been doing and I’m not sure if you level up yet or not.
Loni: LOL. Okay.
DM: Have I given any XP yet? In any of the sessions?
Loni: No.
DM: Okay then.
((After a quick level up…))
Serana: "Hey, just because their seemingly brain dead now doesn’t mean we should just leave them,” she says angerly to Loni. “Promise me we see if we can help them before we leave.”
Loni rolls her eyes. “Fine. If you wanna take your pet mammals to therapy after we get the job done, be my guest.”
Serana angerly slaps Loni. “Maybe all you’re concerned about is your goddamned glorified weeds but I’m trying to make this hellhole of a wasteland a decent place for everyone, which means doing the right thing!”
Loni: “And for me the right thing is putting this dirt farm back in the control of the plants who actually know how to run the place without turning it into a radioactive sandbox.”
Serana: “You only achieved sentience after mutation. The only reason you didn’t screw things up before is because you couldn’t. You didn’t even have a brain to try,” she says, heated and full of venom.
Loni: “Maybe plants are smarter than you think, hm? Did you know there were more plants than any other type of living thing before the calamity? Or that sunflowers absorb and nullify radiation?”
Serana: “I’ve read plenty of the ancients notes on herbalism. The key isn’t to have a ruling race, its to live together. The ancients might not have been able to do it, but it doesn’t mean we can’t. And look at me! I’m a mantis. My species wasn’t any smarter before all this either. Maybe a higher majority will be plants, but we can’t just.. live in a state of cold peace if things go right.” She turns to hide her face, and the heated, sorrowful look on it.
Loni relents. “Okay, we’ll help them. But I hope it doesn’t end up getting us caught.”
Serana hugs Loni. “Thank you..” she says quietly.
Loni blinks in surprise, not used to being hugged. Fucked, sure. But not usually hugged. “We should get going. We have a mission to accomplish.”
DM: Heading through the other door?
Loni: Yes.
Serana: “Yeah, sounds like a plan.”
DM: As you head through the other door you find that the other side is a real cave made of stone, not a metal building. The whole sight must have been too conflicting from one reality to the next so they merged together in some kind of hodge podge. Before you is a deep cavernous drop with a rocky outcropping that spirals downward leading below like a natural spiral staircase. You also notice there is glowing blue moss growing here and there all over the place.
Loni: Science check on the moss.
Serana inspects the moss. 24
DM: And your roll Loni?
Loni: Roll(1d20)+6: 14,+6 Total:20 plus any “I happen to be a plant” bonuses.
DM: You both know this stuff. It’s Beta Moss. A mostly harmless, radioactive moss. It also happens to be the favored food of Gamma Moths when hunting is scarce.
Loni: Is the drop dark?
DM: Yeah. The only light is coming from the moss.
Loni takes some of the moss and drops it down the hole, watching it fall to gauge the depth.
Serana: Roll… nature… to see what a gamma moth is.
DM: It appears to be a 50 foot drop. Also you take one point of low level radiation.
Loni: Do I record that somewhere?
DM: That’s not a point of damage. Just your accumulated rads or whatever they are called. And I don’t think there is a place on your sheet for that but you can make a note of it in Notes or something.
Loni: Okay.
Serana: 14 plus “I am also a bug” bonus? Giggles
DM: LOL! They are giant carnivorous moths that give off radiation.
Serana: ((Oh boy.)) “I can fly down there without danger of falling.”
Loni: “Do we have any lights? It’s very dark.”
Serana pulls her heavy flashlight out.
Loni: “Okay. Fly down and light the way for me.”
Serana flies down slowly, holding the light and shining it.
Loni: “Oh wait. I have to check something. Be right back.” Loni heads back into the other room and peeks to see if the Badders have passed out from sexing up her love doll yet.
DM: It hasn’t been that long. They are still going at it. I mean, it’s probably only been like 10 or 15 minutes in world.
Loni: Ah okay. Then Loni returns and starts hopping down the rock protrusions.
DM: Serana now that you have turned that flashlight on you hear a flutter of wings, and a moment later you spot a large moth flying right at your light.
Tumblr media
DM: It’s easily as big as you are.
Serana makes sure that Loni has stopped before turning the flashlight off and hovering over a bit.
Loni crouches on the outcrop she stopped on.
DM: With the light turned off the moth passes by and lands somewhere on the wall.
Loni: I want to use a skill.
DM: Okay.
Loni: Roll(1d20)+4: 13,+4 Total:17 Photographic Memory. Loni wants to jump down the rocks from memory of their positions.
DM: Okay you can do that.
Loni: Okay. So Loni makes it to the bottom.
DM: Not quite yet. About half way down you come to a spot where the rocks you need to walk across are all covered in that moss. You will have to walk on it to keep going unless you can think of something else.
Loni: I can. I use Animal Control on the moth.
DM: Do you need to be able to see it to use that?
Loni: No.
DM: Tell me how you use the moth to get down.
Loni: Well it says for animal control I roll MP 4d6 L and I don’t know what that means.
DM: Mental Power. That’s what MP is.
Loni: Which translates to…
DM: Int vs Will.
Loni: So my int bonus, plus my level I guess? Plus the 4d6?
DM: Yes.
Loni: Roll(4d6)+7: 3,1,6,6,+7 Total:23
DM: You have it.
Loni: So Loni passes out and the moth flies over to the outcrop and starts eating the moss off.
DM: Alright then. So you make the moth eat the moss then continue down?
Loni: Right. After flying the moth back to where it was. Oh wait… Can the moth see in the dark?
DM: Yes.
Loni: Before I let it go, I want to use it to scout out the bottom of the pit and any tunnels leading off of it.
Serana: I just realized I could have used infervision to navigate easily.
DM: That’s just for seeing body heat Serana. You would have been able to see where the moths were at, but that’s it.
Serana: Yes and no. I mean.. technically the walls would also have radiated slightly.
DM: Okay yes. You are right.
Serana: Granted… mostly darker blue.
DM: Loni at the bottom you see a metal door in the side of the cave wall.
Loni: Can’t get the moth through that I guess. Okay, I put the moth back. And we’ll pick up again another night.

#96. Cyberpunk Quarter
Part of #SimmersForTomorrowCollab.
Ok, let's say that this one is more of a concept-art kind of build. Made for fun and to finally accomplish my goal to do something in cyberpunk style, hehe. I don't know if I really caught it but I tried my best for it to look like something that can be considered cyberpunk-ish. It totally works, I made it as nightclub but it can also work as karaoke bar.
30x20 lot
Nightclub
No CC
Playtested
You will have to turn bb.moveobjects on before placing. You have to have your game fully updated to use this build. You will need these DLC for this to work:

Asteroids Post-mortem
Design Process
For the design process of my asteroids game I mostly focussed on design theories such as system dynamics emergent gameplay, discussed in Chapter 5 of Game Design Workshop: A Playcentric Approach to Creating Innovative Games (Fullerton, 2018), to inform my design process and better assist myself in a critical thinking approach to development. I selected these core principles in response to my platformer project which, upon reflection, lacked depth or compelling design as I was too focussed on player agency a very rigid structure developing a prototype through whitebox testing and iteration (disussed in Chapter 1 and 7 (Fullerton, 2018)). While these teachings are of course valuable I believe I did not execute the design process of my platformer as well as I could have as I did not fully consider the techniques and thought processes required during iterative playtesting/development.
I believe my application of these new thought processes and concepts worked quite well, particularly in the later stages of development. A lot of the positive feedback I gained during playtesting were on aspects such as polish and gamefeel. I attribute this to my consideration of the aforementioned concepts from Chapter 5, but also Fullertons Chapter 10: Functionaliy, Completeness, and Balance which emphasised the importance of refinement, rulesets, and reward structures to improve the moment to moment gameplay (Fullerton, 2018). Additionally this stage of development coincided with the subjects week 6 lecture which discussed very helpful and applicable concepts such as tactical immersion, micro choices, tension and release, and feedback.
Design Process Improvement
To further improve my design process (or to iterate upon my process, hehe game design terminology) I believe I should concentrate my efforts towards early conceptualisation. In both my platformer and asteroids project my early mechanics and systems creation was very spuratic and nebulous (i.e. poorly defined ideas floating around my head). My platformer development process was based around this as I simply played around with my mechanic and developed whatever else came to me, while as discussed above the asteroids concept was a little better. Regardless, the core constructive feedback for this prototype may be linked to design aspects from very early on in development. I believe I simply accepted aspects, such as the semi-high skill floor of the movement and unintuative rules, as a core component of the design. As a result of my system dynamic/relationship design methodology (Fullerton, 2018), subsequent mechanics and systems inhereted these flaws as they lay within the foundation of the concept.
Too alleviate this, I will endeavour to focus more on Chapter 6 as in this segment Fullerton discusses the conceptualisation process as well as various technique suggestions. While I have already been using the list creation method for mechanics whilst creating my elevator pitch, focussing on the brainstorming methods of idea cards and mindmapping will likely prove more beneficial. (Fullerton, 2018) I ancitipate idea cards will allow me to better track mechanics/systems as unique aspects, while implementing these cards into a mindmap will facilitate a more profound visualisation of the design prototype as a whole, potentially revealing any flaws and improvements one could make.
