The silence dragged on for longer than Villain liked. "So..."

Hero looked up, Villain's voice pulling them out of their thoughts.

"What do you think?"

Hero frowned a little. It wasn't that they didn't like the idea. "You'd really want to be my partner?"

"Yes."

"Without dating."

"Yes."

"But..." Hero seemed to be struggling with this. "Why?"

Villain huffed. "Because I like you? Because I want to spend time with you, regardless of if we hold hands or kiss or whatever else it is 'conventional' couples do?"

Villain stepped closer, taking Hero's gloved hands in their own. "You don't have to be in love to have a partner, Hero. You just need to have love."
