Consistent hits while playing (especially recording) are so vital. When I’m tracking drums I try to make sure all my hit velocity is as consistent as I can get it every time. This method of recording will now only save your engineer tons of time on post but it will get you the most HUMAN sound out of your drums in the studio without anyone have to replace your hits.
