vengeful Ghost
In mythology and folklore, a vengeful ghost or vengeful spirit is said to be the spirit of a dead person who returns from the afterlife to seek revenge for a cruel, unnatural or unjust death. In certain cultures where funeral and burial or cremation ceremonies are important, such vengeful spirits may also be considered as unhappy ghosts of individuals who have not been given a proper funeral.
Tumblr media
The concept of a vengeful ghost seeking retribution for harm that it endured as a living person goes back to ancient times and is part of many cultures. According to such legends and beliefs, they roam the world of the living as restless spirits, seeking to have their grievances redressed, and may not be satisfied until they have succeeded in punishing either their murderers or their tormentors.
In certain cultures vengeful ghosts are mostly female, said to be women that were unjustly treated during their lifetime. Such women or girls may have died in despair or the suffering they endured may have ended up in early death caused by the ill-treatment or torture they were subject to.
Exorcisms and appeasement are among the religious and social customs practiced by various cultures in relation to the vengeful ghost. The northern Aché people group in Paraguay cremated old people thought to harbor dangerous vengeful spirits instead of giving them a customary burial. In cases where the person has been killed and the body disposed of unceremoniously, the cadaver may be exhumed and reburied according to the proper funerary rituals in order to appease the spirit. Another option is to salt and burn their remains (bones).

Teke Teke (テケテケ;てけ てけ)
Is an urban legend in Japan, about a girl who got cut in half by a train. She is an onryō, a vengeful spirit, who walks on her hands, carrying a scythe, and seeking victims to dismember. She is named after the sound she makes as she "walks"

Be Not Afraid
Danny's forms were pretty stable in the Infinite Realms, and well, his own dimension. The problem was when he had to run certain errands elsewhere (Clockwork's fault) and the universes didn't know where to put him.
Despite having two defined forms in his original dimension. The other dimensions seemed to decide that Danny didn't need that, and his humanity had to go, or something. The halfa couldn't understand it.
So of course, he ended up looking very amorphous and strange when he traveled to other dimensions. Sometimes with multiple eyes, at other times his body was made of pieces of ice, there were times when he was just a toxic green eye that glowed and blinded whoever saw it. The only thing that remained constant was that he didn't look human. Which made most of his tasks difficult. People feared the unknown after all.
When he arrived in the DC universe he didn't expect a welcoming committee. He even told them "Be not afraid" the moment he landed on a crowded street, but apparently that was counterproductive, since they classified him as some kind of avenging angel.
With a sigh, Danny kept exploring and the strangest things happened to him: Two glowing rings chased him everywhere (One was black and the other was white, but he had a feeling that taking them wouldn't be the smartest move, the ring and the crown were very jealous since he was crowned after all)
And a British magician... flirted with him? Danny was pretty sure the hellbazer was seeing him as eyes and ice floating but that didn't seem to stop him from trying. The halfa didn't know if he was flattered or worried.
Anyway, he couldn't find Dr. Fate, nor "Justice League Dark", whatever it was. But the wizard, Constantine, was willing to take him on a date. The rings continued to follow him while some people with green rings looked in the background (they looked strangely scared) and a new religion had been created for "The Great One" which reminded him of Frostbite.
Traveling was hard.

It’s just the two of us, or that’s what we swore
Wanted to make a lil comic for @lizardtheartist ‘s lovely Ghost Max Au! Just really gets to me the idea of your partner moving on while you’re left stagnant and stuck, a shell of who you used to be.

Crack AU where Grace’s attempt to frame the chemists actually works. There’s either a more pressing case Detective Shapiro has to deal with or she just never comes to Hatchetfield, leaving #1 Clivesdale hater Officer Bailey and the much more corrupt Officer Sweetly in charge of investigating Max and Richie’s murders. Maybe the nerds even manipulate ghost!Max into thinking it was the chemists too - they 100% had no ill intentions and just wanted to throw a fun lighthearted prank for him but those damn chemists must have found out somehow and sabotaged the floorboards so Max would fall. Also for all you Ruth enjoyers out there they do this before she dies too so she survives to the end <3

What the fuck is going on with Ateez right now? Did they just all wake up, fly to California and decide to collectively have their Hot Boy Summer Era at the same time. Does Song Mingi know how much his life is going to change in 48 hours. Why is Seonghwa channelling JayB. I'm concerned one of Wooyoung's arm or neck veins is going to bust, bleed and drown me. Shut up Choi San.

When I was growing up, everyone around me talked about ghosts as though they were frightening and terrifying things to come across or that they were strictly evil in nature, but I just always found them sad. A forlorn spirit fading through the dark is such a mournful and melancholy thing….it makes me want to cry.
(plus ghosts are cute sorry)

I feel like Fromsoftware games really understand this sensation, because whether it’s the ghosts in New Londo or the widows in Cainhurst, the spirits of the dead still lurking is always a sign of tragedy. It’s a signifier of some greater sin that led to the deaths of thousands of innocent people.
The widows of Cainhurst cry out and the mothers of New Londo clutch their lost children, and this is not frightening. It’s gut-wrenching.

Think you are being haunted, talking to the ghost of your ex-bestie turned nemesis, and then you discover that in fact the guy you were talking to is much well alive, not a ghost! You were talking to a hallucination you made up to deal with the loneliness in prison while being tortured!! This happened to my buddy Eli

Meg is definitely more forgiving than me because if I found out my fiancé and his boyfriend killed my dad, brought him back to life, and was indirectly responsible for having him locked up and lobotomized I think I’d actually just kill them

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!
See, ghosts got bored, a lot, Danny did too. When Amity became a neutral and cooperative zone they decided to go exploring. Which was mostly fine, since most of them didn't really mean any harm. And the GIW had been dismantled, Danny preferred to let people speculate why rather than answer.
The problem arose when the ghosts of the Realms encountered other types of ghosts. Apparently there were spirits that did not reach the Realms and became weak or simply vengeful (spiteful?)
The ghosts Danny knew were very upset because apparently "weak" ghosts were extremely rude. So he started talking to them (when they didn't want to talk, or refused, the thermos was a good solution)
Very quickly people started calling him "Ghostbuster", he found it ironic since he wasn't actually repelling ghosts, he was attracting them and sometimes collecting them. A ghost named Deadman yelled at him for not "respecting the rights of the dead", to which the halfa raised an eyebrow. The ghost vanished before he could explain that all ghosts were in the Realms or Amity (where people didn't really mind sharing a house with a spirit).
He shrugged and continued visiting all the ghosts that his friends pointed out to him. He argued with a certain "Zatanna Zatara" and "John Constantine" for disturbing the rest of the dead. Danny rolled his eyes as he chose to ignore them.
It wasn't long before Justice League Dark branded him a "ghost threat" and people in general called him out asking for help with their haunted houses (Danny hadn't really considered turning his travels into a job but at least he was getting paid). The halfa wondered how wizards would react if they knew he was ghost hybrid and his "Ghostbuster Team" was full of ghosts.
