The magic of Mylar!  I created a stencil of Degas’ Little Dancer Aged 14 out of Mylar and then used different combinations of paints to put together a small collection of paintings.  

I’m going to put this stencil away for a bit to focus on some other pieces but I’m sure I’ll come back to her again in the future.

Heading back to my roots a bit.  As I’ve aged my paintings have become less political, less activism based and probably a bit more commercially viable.  But, then a rainy day happens, I get bored, find myself in the studio and just paint what I feel.

Sometimes I think that’s the message we’re going to refugees, outsiders, immigrants and people that just don’t look and pray like we do.  Spend some time canvasing Canton, Ohio and maybe you’ll discover this piece nailed to a wall.

Yep.  A ripoff (although I did paint it so the protester is left handed and not right handed).  Although, what’cha goin’ do when someone offers you a commission to paint a copy?

For the record - I donated 100% of the proceeds to a local art organization focusing on art scholarships for urban artists.
