Grillby was struck by how vibrantly red it all was.
Happy slightly belated 8th anniversary to Casting Rain by @silverskye13 ! Thanks for writing a great story that got me through some stuff in 2020 and was one of the big reasons I got into longform writing (and actually stuck with it for once).
heavily referenced from a stock by @null-entity, who posted the pose with absolutely amazing timing. wouldn't have had the guts to try foreshortening otherwise. thanks!
also shoutout to @casting-horsepiss as always for reminding me the anniversary week even is a thing
Casting Rain rewrote my brain chemistry like genuinely I'm being serious, my favorite UT character has been Sans (and Papyrus) for years and years n yrs and then I read CR and suddenly all I can think abt is the silly fire guy. What.
"We thought for sure she would have us killed or imprisoned. After all, we hadn't just been attacking humans, had we? We'd been tearing up monster settlements as well.
But she didn't. She looked at us, all holy fire and tired wrath, and she spared us."
hes from undertale!!! hes a fire elemental bartender npc in the snowdin area
he has like....... one line of canon dialogue and doesnt really do much of anything in the games story but hes the guy of all time. unironically and 100% truthfully: hes my favorite character from anything ever forever
grillby hutcherson (THANK YOU @yakshua FOR EDITING THIS MASTERPIECE)
and an enemies to lovers grillster au @yakshua (yes them again) made,,,… b!grillster my beloved. more info about b!grillster below because i actually love them with all of my heart
BASICALLY. b!grillster started as just casting rain with a bunch of tropes shoved into it, until we decided to make it its own separate au., grillby is a knight who is assigned to protect gaster because he’s an important magic guy. that sounds a lot like a page full of fate but whateva
Grillby reached forward, the entire movement sluggish and shaking, and wrapped whatever was left of himself around Gaster in a hug. It was going to be gross and messy. He was going to get dust everywhere and Gaster was going to end up living through the nightmare that Grillby had when he’d had to wash Amathea’s dust off his clothes. But he didn’t care. He’d wanted this for so long. This was all he wanted now. This was all he had left. This was the last thing Gaster would remember of him.

*clutches heart* casting rain.....
bit sharper lines, in case I ever decide to take this for a spin digitally or. something.:
week three of [grillstertember] and with the AU prompt, of course I had to go with my OG boys from [casting rain by @silverskye13], the fic that made me fall so deeply in love with these two as characters [please open in full view!]
Grillby held the bucket of seeds aloft. “You need to stop playing knucklebones,” he sighed as he stepped over a chicken. The creature squawked and fluttered away, a gust of feathers hitting him in the face.
“Correction,” Gaster said, not very enthusiastically, as he carefully nudged a chicken with his foot, “I shouldn’t cheat at knucklebones.”
