A needle in a haystack - ‘Black creatives and the challenge of being seen and heard’
This is one near and dear to my heart, something that you can’t ignore even if you don’t associate or experience the above challenges, something that even with the progression we have recently seen of many black creatives there is still a long way to go.
Let’s talk about the brand of the hour, Corteiz, we wouldn’t be reporting on UK culture if we didn’t speak on this. The recently announced collaboration Nike x Corteiz has sent the internet wild and rightly so, a true glimpse into an independently owned black business gaining their flowers.
My hope is that this doesn’t ONLY show others it can be done but makes big brands rethink the gatekeeping that is known and impacted so many other black creatives. An ode to Adidas, impossible is nothing.
Clint wasn’t lying in the brands inception he taglined Corteiz with rulestheworld.
May this success continue.
