Guys I don’t know what else to say. She is a queen. She is my queen. Team Tyler, it’s time to rejoice and to crown Emma, Queen of Team Tyler’s apologists and non-apologists because he didn’t do anything wrong.

ok sorry but I can’t stop thinking about tyler galpin. like yes I get it thornhill and her abuse and grooming and manipulation of him is all valid reasoning for why he has become the Bad Guy but also like. even ignoring that whole aspect he is a boy who is all alone with a dead mother and a dad who hates and fears what he might become and asshole friends and THEN. he wakes up alone and bloody and doesn’t even know what’s happening but knows he’s the Villain. of course he leans into it of course he says ok fine this is what I am this is what I will become. it’s self preservation it’s repressing the trauma of it all it’s the only way to deal with the guilt of what he’s done what he will do. he is Alone and Unloved and probably thinking maybe this is what I really am right? if I try to be good and am unlovable maybe I should just be evil and unlovable instead right? at least that way it’s by choice. you can feel it in his scream underwater you can feel it in how he says he wants to leave this hellhole town you can feel it in how he smiles like he’s afraid to be happy. he breaks my heart he is every unloved child who said fuck it if this is what they think I am maybe this is what I should be

I AM SO THRILLED that Jenna Ortega and Hunter Doohan are both down for the Wednesday becomes Tyler's master theory whhdhahdhshd please it was my favorite theory since the very beginning when I joined this fandom. PLEASE I NEED IT TO HAPPEN.
HUNTER DOOHAN ADDING, "I feel like Wednesday would come up with something horrible for me to do." THO. Like I LOVE all the fics I've been reading where Wednesday becomes his master but I can't be the only one who thinks Wednesday WOULDN'T be as nice and respectful about it as she usually is in the fics I read. Like my girl IS MAD at him and I need to see her take her revenge on him. I'M NOT SAYING I HATE TYLER I LOVE TYLER LOOK AT MY OTHER POSTS AND YOU'LL SEE. But I am unfortunately that writer that has that favorite character/blorbo that they ADORE SO MUCH and unfortunately USUALLY THAT COMES WITH PICTURING THEM SUFFERING. I'M SORRY TYLER BABY YOU ARE STILL AND FOREVER WILL BE MY LITTLE HYDE MY LITTLE MURDER PUPPY 😭
But like the OPPORTUNITIES for all the JUICY moments??? Like IF Wednesday was gonna be respectful about it, then she'd HAVE to falter eventually. She'd HAVE to take advantage of it at some point. But I think more realistically Wednesday would be HORRIBLE to Tyler and yes, come up with a lot of horrible things for him to do for her. Like her having a monster as a "pet" (as Jenna said) would provide so much opportunity for her and how can she NOT take advantage of that. I can believe that she'd be kinder to him later on tho, maybe he'd prove he really did care for her and that she CAN trust him. But it can't be right away. Tyler would have to suffer first 😭
And I really hope they tell us if Hyde is actually evil (like in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, where Hyde is literally everything evil inside Jekyll), or does it depend on the master??? Personally I'm hoping for the former, because I NEED to see Tyler fighting against Hyde. Like, in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Hyde starts to bleed into Dr Jekyll, right? The lines between Tyler and Hyde might be blurring. I need to see this battle between the two of them inside, the real Tyler against the monster inside him.
So YEAH if they REALLY DO THIS IN SEASON 2 (I NEED IT TO HAPPEN IN SEASON 2) there's gonna be SO much opportunity to explore how the Hyde/master bond works, see just how much control over him she'd have, and just learn more about the HYDE in general which I NEED to see because THE CONCEPT IS SO FASCINATING. PLEASE. AND TYLER DESERVES THAT EXPLORATION (plus I need to see Hunter's incredible acting skills here like HE'D KILL IT). And hopefully a redemption arc and most especially acknowledgement that he was the victim, too.
Anyway yeah that's what I've been thinking about all this morning. How are you. 😭

Like: How do people say Tyler is a boring character?
Do you even know what a boring character is like? I think you don't, if you call TYLER GALPIN "boring". He literally was a "normal teenager" who turned out to be a murderous monster who was controlled by a crazy woman (Who groomed, abused and tortured him) and who has an almost completely untold story behind. I mean, what do you want more?

Explaining Tyler Galpin
Ok, just thought I might post this because I need to say this. I don’t care who you ship in the show, whether you’re Wenclair, Wyler, Wavier, or no ship for Wednesday at all (since Jenna favours that). But lack of understanding for someone like Tyler completely annoys and angers me greatly.
His whole life from the day he was born has been a curse. His mother Francoise had her Hyde unlocked just afterwards via severe Postpartum Depression which led her to be institutionalised in a psychiatric facility for the rest of her life. As Tyler would have been weeks to months old when this more than likely happened. He probably spent his childhood seeing his mother in hospital under limited and supervised visits, leading Tyler to develop confusion about this and later leading him to frequently press his father about her to which Donovan would ignore or try to change the subject as he was to engulfed in his own grief and depression to answer his son.
Everytime he looked at Tyler, Donovan would have instantly been reminded of the woman he loved and what became of her. And as Wednesday deduced in the last episode, he spent the past years living in fear of the possibility that Tyler would suffer the same fate as his mother. So rather than face that possibility and further heartbreak again, Donovan chose to bury himself in his work and alcohol and keep his distance from Tyler. From Tyler’s POV, seeing his father rarely would have led him to feel unloved or unwanted. And it would have led him to grow up on his own without any help and lead him to be easily influenced by certain figures within his life such as Lucas, Jonah, and Carter, and develop feelings of resentment and perhaps self-hatred to which he took out on others such as when he assaulted Xavier Thorpe a year prior to the first season. Now instead of helping Tyler deal with his problems, Donovan once again decided to let someone else handle this by sending his son off to a boot camp, and while this might of helped in terms of his behavioural and mental health problems. It did nothing to help him when the inevitable came.
When Thornhill began grooming Tyler a year before Wednesday’s arrival. She did so by taking advantage of his neglected life, and emotional insecurities that craved for affection and care. Caressing his hand in the Weathervane and slowly but surely luring him into a false sense of security (probably acting flirty and sexual towards him as well). So when Laurel finally shows Tyler his mother’s psych file about her being Hyde, it leads him to realise he could potentially be one as well. And when he likely finds out about Nevermore’s rejection of Hydes this would have led him to develop even more resentment towards outcasts as not even they of all people would accept his type. Tyler could have had a life of belonging in Nevermore instead of the life of neglect and abandonment he got from his distant and grieving father.
When Laurel tries to get Tyler to allow her to unlock his Hyde, he becomes against it, as he was fearful of where that would lead. Which is why Laurel kidnapped and chained him up in a cave where she subjugated him to chemical experiments that would lead to his Hyde being awakened. Whilst the Hyde would automatically become loyal to her, Laurel would have needed Tyler’s cooperation as well. Which is why she tortured him until he fully submitted. The use of physical abuse as well as the plant derive chemicals would have brainwashed him completely. May I remind everyone who reads this that he is still a minor in the series when this happens.
Now we get to his actions. People who are so against him (haters) like to point out what happened to Thing and Eugene to justify their arguments. But here’s where I discredit that. 1. Thing was stabbed by Laurel, not Tyler. Yes, Tyler was assigned to distract Wednesday, but I sincerely doubt he knew that his master was going to stab Wednesday’s closest companion since childhood and probably thought that she was going to go in, get the Faulkner diary, and get out. 2. Tyler could have killed Eugene yes. In fact, as a Hyde, he should have been able to easily kill him, but he didn’t, Eugene lived and managed to recover well enough from his coma to the point where he easily assisted Wednesday in subduing Thornhill with his bees. The fact that Eugene survived is proof that Tyler chose to let his humane side take control for once. With Thornhill’s orders being “take care of it”, it wasn’t an explicit instruction to kill him, therefore Tyler was able to interpret that as a way where he didn’t have to let Eugene die.
Haters also liked to point out that he manipulated Wednesday and used her. Yes this is true. But people who read this, I implore you to remember that Tyler was manipulated himself though in a much more cruel manner. Tyler is a tragic character and a tragic villain. His actions came from being brainwashed by Laurel, and had she not been in the picture, none of this would have happened. In fact, had Donovan told his son the truth about what he potentially was a lot earlier, it would have helped Tyler be on his guard on who to trust as he would have been made aware of the creature living inside him. Tyler is someone who has had his life fucked over completely by the following:
His father (for neglecting him)
Laurel (for abusing and manipulating him)
Nevermore (for rejecting him)
The thing I worry about most is that Jenna (now that she’s an EP) is going to make the show runners and writers overlook Tyler’s past in order to suit some feminist agenda that she’s got going on. And that they’re going to disregard him or make him suffer some cruel fate when has already been through enough already. They should not do this. Tyler needs HELP and a chance to heal. I can’t stress that enough everyone.

Impressing Wednesday Addams by kiranightshade @therulerofallpotatos
I was in love with this fanfic even before it was written. Beautifully done Kira! The dialogues between Tyler and Wednesday are really exciting and sound so real since you kept the characters' speech patterns or speaking styles (whatever you call them) from the series -I love this characteristic among my circle of favourite fanfic writers which includes you. Sex on Laurel's dissection table in her basement is exactly what our fandom needed. I will continue to actively promote "wyler on the table" every time I can. I enjoyed the last piece, after the sex, it's deep enough but not too heavy. Good balance. Divine final plot-twist - the one we all want to see. Thank you for this!

I'm always frustrated when people think Tyler Galpin is a bad guy.
There is one case that frustrates me as much as it makes me laugh because there are people saying that it feels like Hanz in Frozen. A stupid twist that makes no sense with the guy's primary personality.
And I say to myself... But is this normal ? The whole principle of Tyler's character is that he seems to have two personalities ! How can people miss this ? Just the name Hyde is a sufficient answer, and to further support the reference, the psychologist herself says that Tyler seems to have two different personalities in his recordings...
So, how can you miss that ?
Also, how can you miss... I don't know, the whole scene explaining Laurel's manipulation of Tyler ?
I mean it's not subtext, we saw with our eyes this woman psychologically manipulate him through the promise of finding information on his mother and physically torture him !
Then, of course it's subtext... But the implication of Laurel's sexual abuse of Tyler is very strong and is one of the least subtle subtexts that I have seen in my life.
Have you seen how this woman touches Tyler ? Who caresses a teenager's hands / arms / face like that ?! Even the principal was fucking uncomfortable when Laurel mistook her for Tyler ! And this crazy thing is called mom ? No, really, no one understood the implication ? Not forgetting that when she tortured him, it was when he was chained completely naked. Naked. Nothing shocks you with all these elements put together ?
There's very nothing subtle about it...
Holy shit, when you rewatch the series with the truth about Tyler in mind, one of the dialogues in Laurel's carnivorous plants classes takes on a whole new meaning. When she explain this :
Tumblr media
Personally, the first time I saw the series, I definitely felt the symbolic grooming vibes, but this dialogue was completely reinforcing and it makes me fucking want to cry every time I think about it because my god this woman is awful. The real monster of this story.

Okay, hear me out y’all
How about instead of simply capturing Tyler and sending him away? He has an On the Run arc for season two. With this, I think it can show more of Tyler’s character. To show the real Tyler is without a master for him to obey, to get a better understanding of his character. (And to show the psychology of Hydes, getting more depth in their history and even coming across some Hydes.)
Tyler has always struck me as a person who wants absolute freedom, he longs for an escape. One of his famous lines is “Because I wish I was going with you. At least one of us will get out of this hellhole town.” So him getting an On the Run arc will make sense.
Him getting into hijinks would be great and we can even have one-off characters who serve as guidance to Tyler while trying to help him by asking questions such as “What are you looking for?” Or “Where are you going?” Questions that the audience and Tyler are wondering ourselves.
A On the Run arc could be literal and figuratively. Him running away from everything that happened, not wanting to face the legal consequences in Jerchio, and figuratively running away from his feelings, not ready to face them or scared to face them.
If someone asks about his complicated relationship with his father and Tyler admitting that he kinda misses him.
Then about Wednesday, who he knows he hurt very badly and thinks she is better off not seeing him again. Not wanting to hurt her again.
And coming to terms with that Marilyn Thornhill | Laurel Gates never cared for him and was only using him.
Basically, Tyler realizing that he needs help and wants people to help him.

For chapter 5 of Woeful Melody I'm trying to write, for the first time ever, well this:
Tyler's eyes were dark as he took her in, and Wednesday stepped closer. One hand reached up to his jaw as she pulled his head to her.
She ran her hands up his back and felt him shudder as she smoothly removed the suit jacket. His fingers slid over the curve of her waist and dug into her hip. She arched back into him, gasping when his mouth found the sensitive spot under her ear.
"Shirt," Wednesday managed to mutter, sliding her hands up under the hem. Her fingers bumped across his abdominal muscles. He gave a gasp of his own when she scratched lightly with her nails, then leaned back obediently so she could peel it off over his head.
She looked at him for a moment, chest heaving, before pushing him over to her favorite armchair and straddled him.
That was all Tyler needed and he crashed his mouth onto hers. He kissed her intimately, with so much passion that it took her breath away. Her hands went up behind his neck and into the base of his hair, cradling the back of his head.
Wednesday couldn't help it, she shuddered against him. She could feel Tyler smile as he kissed her down neck and sucked. Every nerve in her body felt like it was on fire and Wednesday didn't want to stop.
---
Good? Not good? I'm still editing but any advice is certainly welcome.
