So I was scrolling through your page and I saw a post where you recast TVD with 90s actors. And I wanted to ask; which iconic 90s character (tv or movie) do you think is most alike to the TVD mains?
well that's sort of what that list was because a lot of the actors played the type of characters that the mains would be. so for instance, neve campbell, julia, party of five whose parents died in a car crash six months before the show begins who has to deal with teenage stuff and the grief, i could see her being an elena equivalent
damon should be luke perry i.e. dylan in 90210 or he should be spike, that's his mould
Caroline would absolutely be Cher
Bonnie would be Buffy in terms of her actions and her sacrifices
but the antiblack writing makes her the token Black girl.
Stefan is the most difficult one. The easy parallel is Angel

who would you pick if you could recast tvd (including the mikaelsons)
Okay, so I thought about this, and I honestly wouldn't recast anyone? I think the cast was actually well cast, everyone had chemistry with who they were meant to, I believed their characters (talking about the main group), and it WORKED for me, it was the story that completely misused the cast. For the Mikaelsons I'd say more of the same, except I'd recast Joseph with someone with more gravitas. I don't have a specific actor in mind for that, but I think the gravitas is important lol.

oh great just the little recap is making me upset. lest i forget how awful dad is canonically.
okay who are these humans in this that are supposedly 14 year old sam and 18 year dean haha. a smaller 12 year old? and a 24 year old? i went on a slightly unhinged rant about this casting and the ... unfeasibility of this kid being remotely the size of sam at 14. there are many cdc growth charts and percentiles thrown around.
tl;dr they had the 12 year old who portrayed young sam as EIGHT YEARS OLD in s3e8 come back to be 14 years old just 13 months later. the math was not mathing. good for the kid he got a handful of appearances but he should have been recast in my opinion. 😔

i guess i gotta retract my internal bitching about them having a cell phone in the late 90s in fic, since they apparently have one here. i will concede it might be sort of reasonable despite the cost at the time, what with the absent father business, i guess. i do often wonder about what things they have to pay legit vs scam.
while i'm complaining, suicide (and cancer hey ho) as a plot device ugh.
finding more scenic overlooks to park and drink and talk.

When you have rewatched Merlin six or seven times but want to go through all that emotional rollercoaster to introduce it to your friend, are nervous about her reactions...and these are her comments during episode two:
“It seems like the show is developing the thing between Morgana and Arthur, but I would much rather want to see Morgana with Gwen and Merlin with Arthur. There is so much chemistry there already.”
“Gwen and Morgana have such bi-energy!”
[I made a mistake of accidentally telling her that Morgana is going to turn “evil” at some point, and now she has wild speculations of what would lead such a just cinnamon roll into that...and I’m sitting there like I’m constipated to avoid spoiling anything.]
[when Merlin and Arthur are fighting] “Oh, come on, just kiss and make up already!”
Also, she is such a ray of sunshine every time Kilgharrah appears and she has already so many crossover-ideas.
And let me tell you, the big mix of relief, nostalgic pain and amusement that I felt was like no other.

My #1 post of 2022
My opinions about “Fate the Winx Saga” season 2 (MANY SPOILERS!)
If you haven’t seen it yet and want to experience it fully by yourselves, don’t read any further!
- Without any doubt, this season is even better than the first one. Such an emotional rollercoaster with many surprises and great villains. I loved all of the old and new characters and how these episodes deepened their bonds. It took some time for me to get used to the new actors of Rosalind and Ben - the original ones will always have a special place in my heart, but they did a good job with recasting, I think.
- I have loved Abigail as Bloom since the first episode, but I’m glad she got so many opportunities to shine here.
- I didn’t especially like Skloom in the original animation, but they have stolen my heart in Fate, specifically during this season (episodes two and seven, my beloved).
- I was both anxious and excited about seeing Flora, but I was pleasantly surprised. She is a badass, fits into group so well, and I like how her and Terra got closer and kind of sorted out their disagreements.
- Everyone’s storylines and struggles were good and relatable (especially Bloom’s, Sky’s and Musa’s), but Terra’s took the first place for me for multiple reasons.
- Stella’s and Riven’s character-developments are definitely also worth mentioning.
- My emotions about Dane have been conflicted this season, but I’m happy where we left with him, that the situation with Riven and him seems to be somewhat okay now and he has a chance to real happiness.
- I love Sam as a character, feel really bad for him and want him to find happiness, but Samusa never really was “it” for me (and it’s not just because I have had a soft spot for Rivusa since my childhood).
- When it comes to Rivusa, I really enjoyed their scenes together and can’t wait to see more of them.
- Musa is still my favorite Winx altogether, even though I adore all of them.
- Aisha deserves everything beautiful and good in this world, dammit!
- I’m thrilled how much Silva-content we got this season.
- Transformations and magic in general were done great.
- A good nod to Trix, I must say.
- That ending scene got me so emotional it was almost ridiculous.
Aaand the downsides...
- Farah will always be the headmistress of Alfea to me and many, many others. The scenes we got with her, and her one last valuable lesson, were touching and I’m thankful for them, but she deserved so much more. There was an amazing build up of Golden Trio in season 1, and it was all thrown to waste. My Silrah-heart had so much hope and now it’s broken. And yes... I cried my eyes out. But when it’s all said and done... I just wanna thank Eve Best for portraying Farah so marvelously (and read loads of Silrah/Golden Trio-fanfics).
- Even though Andreas was very... questionable, I’m sad that there were so few scenes between him, Sky and Silva.
- Stellatrix belongs to my “had so much hope”-department and well ... </3
Such a great season, and a heartbreaking cliffhanger. We gotta get season 3, as soon as possible.

I cannot imagine anyone but jomo playing Klaus he bodied that role so much it'll always be intertwined with him. but this seems like a fun game, if you could recast tvd who would you cast? (all hypothetically speaking no age restrictions for how old the actors all are currently)
Yeah JoMo is Klaus for me, and without a doubt his performance is what made Klaus such an interesting character, at least partially. And to be honest I wouldn't really recast anyone just because they have become their characters to me so distinctly, like even the supporting actors have become so "them" to me that I can't imagine anyone else in the role. I guess maybe I'd replace Nate Buzz with Daniel Sharman to begin with just because Nate is bananas? Same for Alice Evans, no clue who I'd replace her with though.

i feel like i talked about it before but i can't find it so i'm just gonna talk about it again. this is how i (tessa) would have done the gods + other adjacent creatures in tvd's third spin off aka welcome to: monsters and muses.
sirens. they were in tvd and they had a link to the saltzman twins. it would have been easy to link them to greek mythology too. and if i remember correctly, they had a link to arcadius, and it would have been easy to link them to the dark dimension (and to have malivore be part of that, if it needed to exist at all).
gods & demigods. okay so in s1, h cut off pothos' wings. pothos is an erote and an attendant and/or child of the goddess of love. l&h finding each other and losing each other again ad infinitum could have been punishment from the goddess of love because h dared to hurt her kid/attendant but i wouldn't have shown her, i think. at least, not until the final season where the gods make their actual appearances. also, i would have given them better names.
monsters & other creatures. they were already well on their way with using a dryad. i maintain that they should have used lampads and the lamiai too. and other creatures that weren't well known like the arae (see 'landon' for more) and they could have brought in achlys to really hammer the point of hope's sorrow home.
landon. landon either should have been a huma instead of a phoenix or he should have been the son of an arae (female spirits of curses, particularly of the curses placed by the dead upon those guilty of their death).
rafael. as awesome as i find the fact that he's the one true king, i also think it would have been cool had he been tied to lycaeon (who was the king of arcadia, which could have been a nod to arcadius and the sirens) or another mythological wolf. also, his first love cassie should have been an eidolon - which could have been discussed while she was briefly resurrected and they could have tied it to the whole doppleganger thing of previous installments too.
penelope. it would have been cool if they brought in odysseus (and maybe recast penelope and brought her back from belgium) and have them riff off each other.
who (and/or what) else? the amazons. also, their counterparts - the gargareans. the astomi would have been funny to see as well. they could have been antagonists in a more light hearted episode. had they not completely killed off that dragon girl in season one, they could have used the spartoi because they come from dragon's teeth. also, vrykolakas.

I’ve seen some people say that they should recast Caroline so that she can be in Legacies?! And I’m honestly really surprised to see that some people feel that way. I don’t mean any offense at all to those who do, I just have to disagree. I’ve been wanting Caroline to be on the show since it started, but if they ever recasted her, that would ruin it for me, I wouldn’t be able to watch. There’s no one on the planet who could replace Candice as Caroline and I’d never want to see anyone try. The show has already gotten unrealistic enough for the TVD universe. The last thing we need is some other person trying to play Caroline. Also, Candice is good friends with Julie, so I can’t see that ever happening anyway. And I don’t think Candice would let it, considering how much the character has meant to her, she played her for nearly a decade.
Personally, I think Candice will come on the show at some point. During TVD, she’d get asked if she’d ever want to go on The Originals, and she would more or less say no, yet she still ended up doing multiple episodes in season 5. And she hasn’t said no to Legacies so I’m hoping she will do it someday.
And I do know that it’s extremely out of character for Caroline to not be there and that it doesn’t make sense. The writers have been doing a lot of that lately. This whole season has been a mess imo with lots of things not making sense. The writers made a dumb move having Dark Josie and the merge happen so soon before Candice was ready to come back. But I don’t think recasting is the way to fix any of that. Hopefully in the future, the writers will get back on track and maybe by then Candice will want to be on the show.
Just my thoughts. Sorry. Rant over.
