SNEAK PEEK The Sims 4

The world's lifestyle simulator is soon back

Quick fixes and emotions are the focus of The Sims 4

COLOGNE (Gamer.no): It's been thirteen years since the launch of the very first The Sims game. The first installation in lifestyle series quickly went to the top of the charts around the world and since then has really been mostly bliss and peace for EA and Maxis.

Sequels, side games and expansion packs have sold off as Hakka muck, and now is the fourth adventure in simulation land on the stairs. Behind closed doors at EA at Gamescom we got to see The Sims 4 in action and play us some of the game's toy and upgraded features.

Love is in the air.

Control of emotions

New this year is emotions, real as such, and in The Sims 4 is promise of an expanded and more complex of emotions. Previously, Sims left the advise of basic needs like food and sleep, as well as the occasional urge to jump in the hay with newcomers neighbors, but now much more stand and fall on how they feel.

In one demonstration of the sequences shown off in Cologne, we also look how two men's competition over a woman's favor leads to depression, anger, jealousy and anxiety. The road there is the same old rules, with clicking on the person, "dialogue choice" and wild gestures, but the motivations and the result is different.

Now, you want to splice Sim's with this chick because he feels lonely and not motivated to go to work.When he loses the game a charming charlatan springing an unimaginable anger within him, an anger that may do much of the same benefit. Among other things, demonstrated how aggression can be used to get more out of a workout, and it's not inconceivable that similar manipulation can be used to do better in the job market.

The system seems promising, and with all the emotions a human being can imagine feeling one would also believe that the opportunities were many. There we were served by EA was admittedly a very staged section of the game, but my hope is that Sims will react based on logic and credibility so as to avoid complete chaos. Sims who refuse to obey player is unlikely to be well received.

The Sims 4 takes a giant leap away from meaningless numerical values and switches that have previously adjusted accordingly meaningless values.

Interest visual features focus on emotions also much variation. Each mood is different interaction possibilities associated with it. When, for example, in a flirtatious mood can be found to play a little with the muscles or kiss counterpart on hand, which would otherwise not be done. It will also be clear how your Sim feeling, even if one disregards the usual status box that says "depressed" dark blue on light blue. Are you a little depressed is bent his back and smile away, while a guy who sparkles of self pops up straight down the street.

The foundation for all this is an upgraded and neat figure maker tools where with simple clicks and drags can resolve enable dream figure. I myself was placed in front of a computer where you got free access to an early version of the creator tool. Despite a modest clothing range for special effects, the result was two impeccable and very unique Sims that I quickly became fond of the one I had in addition a little fun with. It was surprisingly easy as grabbing a cent, going as far as it went and see how the shape symmetrical fell into place. The stomach was pulled slightly back and forth until I put myself to bed with a compelling message, and the crowning glory was a huge potato nose and beret.

The game's charming cartoon graphics got the figure automatically to glow of personality, and all in all it took me five scarce minutes to arrive at a result I was really happy with. The figure was a young woman with legs and thighs as a Nordic spring and a gaze that weighed several tons. Here I went to the set to work, went to a few body parts that should not be mentioned by name, and went in detail by zooming in on detailed areas. The tool is surprisingly robust, and although not necessarily operate with a lump of clay that can be shaped��exactly the way you want it jaggu not much to do.

There is no place better home

Last on the wallpaper of your visit at EA was just the loss. Living room, bathroom and the rest of your Sims' household will in fact be set up and decorated like never before, and here the developers have put a focus on a more user friendly experience.

- We have long recognized that the creation of a separate house in the previous Sims games was a somewhat daunting experience, especially considering all the factors you have to deal with and so many things that could go wrong during construction work. Now we have removed some unnecessary elements and made more flexible solutions for most players, told one of the attending representatives of The Sims Studio at the hopeful boligmakerne in Cologne.

Here we see how to enable a fully habitable house on just over two minutes. Some of the main points of the extended residential construction is the ability to insert pre-furnished rooms, taken straight from the IKEA catalog and play with forms and shapes on the roof, windows and terraces. It looked horrible single out which walls clicked comfortably in place, the bedrooms were manifest before the eyes of one and foundations sprang up from the ground like mushrooms.

The variations are also far more than previously, and some of the coolest thing we saw at EA was the opportunity to shape the housing of their choice. The roof could for example wavy and stretched all the way down to the ground, the windows could be pulled in different directions to let in the most light, and the walls to reach new heights. More than anything else it is tempted to make something like the tower of Moomin Valley, but those attending were unfortunately not allowed to test construction in action.

Sims will be better at expressing themselves, through nonsense language, gestures and animations.

Conclusion

The Sims 4 seems to carry all that has been good with Sims past and fill in with massive doses usability, feelings and cartoonish charm. We are promised Sims who actually live their lives based on their inner feelings, and if this works as well in practice as we saw in Cologne promises well for the show's fourth installation. The opportunities to do different things depending on whether one was full of anger and full of love seems exciting, and maybe this will ascribe a tactical element to the otherwise simplified simulator game.

To create character has certainly not been any strategic orders, on the other hand. Now it's easier than ever to put their Sims to life, and the scarce minutes are left with something with personality, whether you like it or not.

The same applies to buildings that can create, they can take on different forms and shapes as appropriate. Would you mind not build houses? Copy a living from Sim's response to the IKEA catalog and you are ready to simulate.

The way I see it is the intelligent systems and personal touches that are in focus when EA and The Sims Studio extends towards the big four's. This bodes well for the Sims universe in the coming years.

The building in the middle can be converted to an apartment, but I made it the community laundry facility. The units are sparsely decorated and ready for your sims to move in and trap, kick it and turn up. Be careful cause the block is hot.
