In Community season 2 episode 6 "Epidemiology", there is a scene where Troy tells Abed that he loves him, fearing that this might be the last and only time he could say it due to the zombie virus. Later in the episode, everyone, including Troy and Abed, recover from the infection spread at the Halloween party. All of their memories of the party are then wiped by the military. There is never a specified amount of time given between Greendale students recovering from the virus and the military arriving. During said time, Troy remembers telling Abed he loves him and Abed remembers the same. Community is also known as a show where anything can happen, as the episodes change formats and have new ideas constantly. This means it's entirely in the possibility of canon that Troy and Abed could've kissed in the time frame between recovering from the virus and getting their memories wiped. In this essay, I will-

I know people hate season 4 of Community and I might be losing it but do you ever think about the Inspecticon episode and go just a little bit feral? Like, the ENTIRE EPISODE A PLOT revolves around Troy and Abed's relationship with multiple references to them being boyfriends. Troy's girlfriend casually refers to Abed as his boyfriend. Troy is jealous about Abed ending up with someone else who he is afraid might be better suited to Abed but no one could be, because two Inspectors wouldn't work out because you need a logical Inspector and an emotional constable and Toby can't handle that fact because he doesn't have someone to balance him out so he's too emotional and he locks Abed in that phone box like his bullies once did but "for once in my long history of getting locked inside of things, I knew someone would come get me" and Troy and Abed doing their high-five and getting their gluon photo is the most romantic thing this show ever did (well, tied with like five other Trobed moments) and it's basically canon poly and I know I'm unhinged about it but who wouldn't be-

Oh, you have work in the morning? Whoops. Anyway I also think it's hilarious that Matt Lucas plays the evil parody Doctor Who fan who is too obsessed with the Inspector when like three years later he'd become Nardole, an official companion (aka the Constable Reggie stand-in)-

The sheer amount of pain this puts me through.

Troy, who learnt how to help Abed through his meltdowns. Troy, who was so deeply connected to Abed that they became each other's half, Troy, who cares more about Abed being comfortable about his relationship with Britta than himself.

And yet he never once assumes he understands Abed.

He's never patronizing, he cares for him so wholy without thinking Abed is a puzzle to solve and set straight, a mystery to unveil. To Troy, Abed doesn't owe him anything, not even a look at his soul.

And I think that's beautiful.

what is it about?: this essay serves to prove that troy and abed, even if the viewer does not see them as anything more than friends, are undoubtedly queer characters.

sure! So I started this for femslash week last year since Soulmate was one of the themes, but in the mix of it all, this one went unfinished. I managed just under 300 words and the concept is that everyone has soulmarks, but it's actually something something shady government something and not actual soulmates. anyway Nancy was gonna have Steve as her soulmark but fall for Robin and this was all far too ambitious considering everything else I had on deck for femslash week

since it's so short i'm gonna post everything I had under the readmore-- bear in mind that i write out of order and often in short snippets when i'm starting, so this is several disconnected parts

Nancy’s seen her mother’s soulmark, seen the words Ted Wheeler printed on her like a brand. She watches her parents at dinner in the evenings, the minor rise and fall of her mother’s face. It’s supposed to be the best thing in the world, some sort of almost magic, like it’s your birthday every single day. But her mother, most nights, looks little more than resigned to her fate.

In the shower, Nancy scrubs at her wrist until it’s raw, but the words don’t fade even the smallest bit.

She thinks, accidents, she thinks, things that look like accidents. There’s a running list that she keeps beneath her pillow, tallying all the household items sharp enough to tear off skin: the kitchen knives, her dad’s razor blades, the sewing shears if she can just find the right angle to hold them at.

Steve Harrington is a nice guy. She sees him in the halls sometimes, next to a girl with sandy hair and button-down vests. It’s the girl who she’s spent the most time looking at. The way her gaze can go from sharp in seconds, how interesting she looks both ways. Her hair is fluffy some mornings, like she’s slept on it without brushing it later. Nancy imagines running her hands through it. She thinks it’d be soft, and maybe it’s okay that Steve’s her soulmate if it means she’ll get to meet this girl.
