gansey was just a guy with a lot of stuff and a hole inside him that chewed away more of his heart every year. they were always walking away from him. but he never seemed able to walk away from them.
forgot to post him in his glasses!

when gansey said “they were always walking away from him but he never seemed able to walk away from them” idk why he felt the need to crack my head open and spill the contents onto the pages of his book, kinda rude tbh

"She just wanted to keep being best friends with him forever, and maybe one day have carnal knowledge of him"
I need to be her friend so bad because she GETS it.

imagine this: YEARS in the future gansey finds himself gravitating towards the name noah in an unexplainable way. he sees the name noah written on an underpass wall and can’t help staring at it for so long he’s fixated in place, his mother mentions her friends grandchild noah and he can’t figure out why he can’t get it out of his mind. he reads the name noah in a book and can’t seem to turn the page. and he never figures it out. he never figures out WHO noah is, but he names his child noah anyway.
sorry

“Ronan, a sinner himself, wasn’t as struck by the transgression as he was by Gansey’s insistence that they continue to pretend Adam was a saint.”

This is from three years ago when Maggie answered a question of mine regarding Kavinsky and if the Cabeswater and Greywaren events didn’t happen, could he have been possibly redeemed. Thought it would be fun to share since it goes into the depth of Kavinsky and Ronan’s lore together!
Maggie Stiefvater said, “I think the rules of fiction means that anyone can be redeemed if the story is written that way, right? But Kavinsky was written specifically to not be redeemed, because Ronan was going to be redeemed - it was to show you what could have happened to Ronan if he hadn't made the choice to turn towards self worth, acceptance, love, real friendship, if instead he had thrown himself into destruction, selfishness, revenge, surrounding oneself with cronies and yes men instead of people you had to respect and navigate. So storywise, Kavinsky could have been redeemed, but in context of the Dream Thieves, I think that would've been possible only if I were writing that book as a tragedy - because it would've made sense, then, to for Ronan to give up instead: they were funhouse mirrors. That's what gives DT its poignant power. The heaviness on the bitter wis why Ronan's triumph feels real.”
