I've started headcanoning Xion as a trans girl recently, so I made a cute little comic about her figuring out gender stuff.

Btw, if you're trans/NB/intersex, starting tomorrow (2/21/24). Please don't hesitate to DM or @ me anything you make. Stream promos, selfies, drawings, games, poetry, gunplas, minis, whatever. I won't say that I'll be sure to share all of it (esp in a timely manner), but I want to spread a little more trans joy and unity and celebrate the things we make.
The tag will be #transcendent works.

It's so weird that in angel s5e2 they do a little flashback to Spike's blaze of glory moment in the last episode of Buffy... but they leave out Buffy saying "I love you". It's such a blatant omission, the ONLY omission from that scene, that it feels totally deliberate and kind of dishonest. Considering a lot of the Spike and Angel moments in S5 revolve around their jealousy and rivalry towards each other, and a LOT of that is to do with Buffy like... Why would you leave it out? It's a pretty big moment for Spike's character in general.
As far as I recall they don't even mention it, they just mention the fact that Spike and Buffy have had a lot of sex compared to bangel's ONE disastrous time (that they remember) but it does kind of cheapen it for Spike. A big motivation for him not leaving LA could have been him not wanting to hold Buffy to her words, since he clearly doesn't believe that she loves him (even though she does, as per Whedon). He presumably thinks she only said that to make him feel better in his final moments, because she wouldn't have to actually follow through on her words. Which is sad. But it makes much more sense as a motivation than the weird 'it cheapens my moment of glory' excuse like since when does spike give a shit about that

I should get an award for my restraint in not automatically blocking people who say things like "I hate paladins, they suck so much, they're the worst class bc their vibes are so bad" on my posts that even just mention paladins.
RIP that you and most people do not understand paladins as a class and do not understand that their narrative is not just "stick in the mud who loves being a cop", but I'm different and I think they're incredible and they're one of the classes with the best inherent narrative

Actually. Not even gonna be quiet about Aegon’s characterisation in HOTD because I feel like, as vile as he is, he almost breaks the fourth wall in that he alone seems to realise that the throne is something to be fucking dreaded. All other characters in ASOIAF/F&B if they’re not obsessed with the thing, are basically either disinterested or dispassionate, or simply regard it with a vague sense of duty at most, but Aegon’s reaction is a new one amongst all the contenders we’ve seen, because it’s not that he wants it or doesn’t want it, it’s simply that it terrifies him
And like his fear for the crown is visceral in this episode, because the second he claims it he knows that he transcends from some petty background villain with no true stakes in this narrative to someone with everything to lose, and he has to be dragged into the role. It’s like a character who knows he’s in a story and desperately doesn’t want to be
And then of course once he sees how the view looks from beneath a crown and sees what everyone else wants so badly but he’s been given… he gives into the role and the wall rises again and he’s claimed his place in the narrative after all. Like needless to say he’s a horrid person and this could’ve happened to better people lmao but this episode honestly gave me the vibes of an animal knowing it’s to be slaughtered whilst everyone else, including its own mother, call it ‘crowned’. It paints the way they drag him there with an inherent violence and it’s pitiful

in-laws! in-laws! in-laws! in-laws! in-laws!
Big fan of when people don't get along
Used these color palettes by @ultrainfinitepit, probably could have picked ones with better contrast but ngl also picked them based on names. All are based on scenes from Reincarnation Blues and Something Borrowed, Something Blues
Specific color palettes and textless versions under the cut

May I share a fic rec? I finally found an Emet fic that scratched my brain in all the right places, never I would've expected that from an Ardbert ship @_@ (disclaimer: I'm not responsible for the brainrot it might awaken in you)

Got to thinking about Paz a whole lot, so I drew her and Lyca from when they were dating. I also drew Dipper’s kids, an idea I had for a dress Pacifica would wear to a fancy interview (fox themed) and Dipper visiting her on set as a cat.

Bones
I was not born
with a mean bone in my body.
They are all grafts,
Armor I was given
to defend me from the cruelty
of my life
I only hope
I’m not seen as a monster
for my anger,
but the wounded animal
I am
I don't write as much as I'd like anymore, but I've had this poem knocking around in my head for a few days and... Well let's just say the timing felt too perfect.

submission for @tgirlanthony's transcendent transgender zine
i call this one he's just like me but a girl (neither party is a girl... allegedly)
i wanted to make somewhat of a pseudo collage, so i painted a self portrait (inspired by those very genderful "rock guy doing makeup in mirror" pics that i really really love) and then added drawings of gerard way and brian molko and their respective quotes that may or may not have altered my brain chemistry forever....
as seen in the meme in the corner of the mirror they are very much to blame for the state of my gender so it made sense to make something with the two of them <3

What is cue the sun? 👀
I need you to know I am kissing you on the mouth rn (platonically) -- I've been rotating this plot in the microwave since like. mid-august.
It's transcendence au (obvi) but here's the basic hook:
The year is 7098. The last Mizar (Fang Wu -- and shoutout to aba_daba_do for making a kickass OC) has been dead for four years now, and Alcor has been MIA for about the same amount of time. In their absence, the North American continent has broken out into a full-on, cross-continental war, with the main players being the Greater Austinian Monopoly (formerly known as Texas) and the Alaskadian Collective (Alaska, plus some parts of Canada and north-eastern Russia).
In a last-ditch effort to find some long-forgotten piece of magical information that could win the war, Alaskadian scientist Fatima Tursynbekova (an r!Ford) is sent to the abandoned site of what used to be Gravity Falls, accompanied by her troubled teenage daughter Olya (an r!Gideon). They're expecting to find little more than scant remnants of a town that was razed to the ground over thirty years before -- not much better than an archaeological expedition if anything.
However, what they find instead is a thriving small town -- the inhabitants of which are all completely and utterly convinced that it's the year 2016 (feat. the OG Mystery Twins and an extremely sus Stan Pines).
Anyways blah blah blah romance, secrecy, interpersonal drama but COME LOOK AT THE MAP I MADE I spent entirely too much time on it and I've been dying to share:

do you think tamsyn is intentionally drawing a connection between the Buddhist eightfold path and the eightfold word?
the eightfold path is supposed to lead to liberation from the cycle of rebirth (I’m drawing a parallel to lyctoral immortality) and the last element is right samadhi which is often described as “meditative absorption or union” (a parallel to the consumption of the cavalier and absorption of the soul)
idk just food for thought i’ve been mulling over
I've been pondering this for a while myself. I've never heard the word "eightfold" used in any other context. Like, it could very much be a coincidence because #-fold is a Portentous Word Form, and eight Houses contributed to the theorum, but let's assume for now there is a connection.
I would say it's less of a parallel and more of a reflection. This framing of the Eightfold Word would make it kind of a warped mirror of the Eightfold Path.
Following the Eightfold Path delivers you from samsara, right? The ultimate purpose is to break the cycle of reincarnation that binds a person to the worlds of mundane suffering. That last element, right samadhi, it's about the illusion of existence being transcended in meditation to see the true nature of being. The Path leads to understanding of the self as transient—an illusion created by a much larger whole. Or something like that. I'm not a priest or bodhisattva, or even a scholar dedicated to understanding these things.
Speaking the Eightfold Word is entirely the opposite. The lyctors have subsumed the other into the self, making the self the center of their being. They haven't been freed from the cycle so much as they've jammed the wheel, leaving themselves trapped in the suffering of their existence for, theoretically, eternity.
I don't know if it's an intentional reference or not, but I do enjoy considering the implications of lyctorhood from that perspective. John and the lyctors have become so consumed by their obsession with the self and ensuring its continuance, it's broken all the bonds that would make them part of a larger whole in this life and left them each alone together in their own private hells. Speaking the Eightfold Word means that they'll never reach the other shore.
