My Trans Day of Remembrance set up. After the rite was complete I found 2 pieces of glitter on my bare chest that I have no idea where they came from, especially because I completely changed shirts before starting.

Been meditating and connecting to my spiritual path and the teachers that guide me, and it's been nice. The seventh day of a nine nights of prayer. Feeling today the beauty of my transgender manhood, and feeling that love that comes with. The softness and the vulnerability and the strength that the gift of my trans manhood has given me. As well as my sexuality and love of other men. Just my own unique identity, and allowing myself the simple joy of loving myself as the man I am. I've got some nice tea and rice for the trancestors later as well, and I'm hoping my money will come through at least next month, I would like to give a treat to Them as well. Maybe some roses too, if I can afford it.

Messages from Your Trancestors
Tumblr media
Almost every day for the past two weeks, I’ve been waking up with messages. At first I thought that this was anxiety, because all the messages I’ve been waking up with were about trans people - supporting trans people, loving trans people, surviving this current crisis, etc. I figured it was because this is what I do for a living. I figured that this was waking me up early because this is the water I swim in all day, every day.
But the more I sat with it, the more I realized that the emotional core of these early mornings is not anxiety, and the messages are not ones of fear. What was coming through was trancestral knowledge, messages from trancestors who have faced all that we are facing now, who have wisdom, strength, and support for us. So I started taking notes, listening to the messages, and sharing them with you.
This morning I woke up with just….a deluge of these messages. Insistent with love, urgent with care. There’s more than I can fit on a cute Instagram slide show, so while I do intend to release these messages through that medium, I want to write them in their entirety here. For you, dear reader. Consider bookmarking this page. Consider printing this off, or writing it down somewhere. Consider returning to it again and again.
Also, these messages are for you. When I say “trans” I mean that in the broadest sense. This is not about a label or fitting into a category. It’s not about being “out” or visible or taking social steps or medical ones. Its for you if it resonates with you. Its for you if you’ve questioned your gender, if you’ve explored your gender, if you’ve transitioned, if you’re out, if you’re stealth, if you are mother to hundreds of trans kids or if you’ve never met another trans person in your life. These messages are for you.
Transcestor Message 1
You have thousands and thousands of trancestors and they are all available to you. You have trancestors who were adored, revered, considered to be sacred by their communities. These ancestors hold divinity medicine. You have trancestors who have been through incredible hardship. These ancestors hold survival medicine. You have trancestors who were never able to change their bodies in the way they wanted, who were never able to fully express their truth. These ancestors hold persistence medicine. You have trancestors who hold the sweet medicine of community, and others who hold the deep introspection of isolation. They are all here for you, they can hold you through this time. They can offer you strength, support, and love, as well as their unique and vital medicines. Reach out to them, because they are already with you.
Transcestor Message 2
Your trancestors want you to know that you are not alone. You are not the first to feel the way you feel, you won’t be the last. Your transcestors want you to know that there are no setbacks that we can not come back from, as a group, and that no attempt at eradicating us will succeed. We have always been, we will always be. We can be born at any time, in any place, to any family. No one can change that.
Transcestor Message 3
Your trancestors invite you to sit with weeds, like dandelion, and know that we, too, will always spring up through the cracks, regardless of how others perceive us. We, too, hold deep medicine in our bodies, if one takes the time to look. We, too, can survive nearly anything, because we have the advantage of deep roots, persistence, and unpredictability.
Transcestor Message 4
Your transcestors want you to know that when we work together, we are stronger. They want you to know that they know it’s scary, and they want you to know that they are still here and so are you. Community is as terrifying as it is beautiful, because it holds deep potential for pain as well as profound joy. This is a truth of human relationship. Turn toward one another with love. Allow yourself and your trans siblings to be human. Soak in compassion. Make space for messiness. Support accountability. There are so many people trying to eradicate us right now. Let us not make their job easy. Let us learn to link our arms together and fight as a group. Let us refuse to devour our own. Let us recognize our oneness, and commit to it.
Transcestor Message 5
Your trancestors want you to know that the hate you’ve internalized for yourselves and one another is understandable, because it is the air you’ve breathed for all the years you’ve been alive. And also, it’s gotta go. You must tend to the parts of you that hold all that hatred, all that oppression, you must pull them into the light of your love and see them for what they are - the misguided protectors of a little one who was forced to conform to a transphobic world, to a world that couldn’t hold the fullness of their brilliance. You don’t have to live in that paradigm anymore. Those protectors can become the fierce advocates of that little one, and of your present self. So you must open yourself to the idea that your transness and all the things that this world have told you were too much, too big, too frightening….that these are your magic. That these parts of you must be loved, too. That when you learn to love them, and to love your community, you are unstoppable.
Transcestor Message 6
Your transcestors want to remind you that you do not have to fix everything for everyone today, and that you are not alone. Many transcestors have burned bright for a short time while they took on the whole world at once, where they were unsupported and left to fight alone. Their sacrifices changed the world, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Alone we will struggle deeply. The fights will be more than any one of us can handle. But together we are unstoppable.
Transcestor Message 7
Your transcestors want you to feel the truth of liberation in your bones. It is available to you now. Learn to feel it, to sense it, and then learn to feel it in community
Transcestor Message 8
For every few names and faces of transcestors that we know, there are thousands upon thousands that we don’t. You have the support of millennia.

While we're on the subject of Paris Is Burning...
Y'all should look into the Dorian Corey Project right here on Tumblr.
The Dorian Corey Project is a small online collective dedicated to preserving Black queer history. I found out about them a few years ago and I greatly appreciate the work they put in to honor Dorian Corey's history while so much of the dialogue surrounding her as a person tends to sensationalize her situation. They currently have a campaign running now until June called Gender In Real Life meant to "Highlight the efforts of (hyper) visible Trancestors and Ancestors whose life work inspires Black LGBTQIA people today." (The website will be up soon, too <3) Go over and show them some love and appreciation for the work they do!

The last full week in February is the perfect time to launch!!!!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥🙌🏾❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥🙌🏾🙌🏾
The Gender In Real Life campaign is the inaugural #DorianCoreyProject 2024 social media crusade to highlight Black Trans, Gay and Queer elders whether they be local, national or across the African Diaspora. This campaign will continue throughout February and conclude in June 2024 ahead of Pride Month and Black Music Month. The concept of Gender In Real Life is to highlight the efforts of (hyper) visible Trancestors and Ancestors whose life work inspires Black LGBTQIA people today. We honor and thank them for their insights, sacrifices and introspective gifts. At a time where rights for Black people across Gender and Sexuality lines are increasingly being curtailed; in addition to multiple genocides and the ongoing global pandemic(s) that disproportionately affects Black/Trans people, the necessity of Ancestral Veneration in such a time is essential to our singular and collective wellbeing. Help us honor our Trancestors and Ancestors today! #DorianCoreyProject #GenderInRealLife #GIRL #buffalomusicians #electronicmusic #buffalomusic #blacktranswomen #blackwomen #blackmen #blackmusic #buffalo #blackmusicians #bandcamp #beatmaker #performanceart #musicproducer #niagarafalls #beatmaker #musicinthemaking #hieronymusbosch #producerlife #buffalony #beatmakers #soundcloud #musicians #logicprox #blackhistorymonth #doriancoreyproject #trauma #theblackfamily #universityatbuffalo

Just girlie™️ things
(a message from your local angry queer podcast production team)
The Stormfire Productions team stands in solidarity with both the WGA strike and Pride Month, and honors those storytellers past, present, and future who write not to sustain the status quo, but to inspire a better future.
Remember y'all: Pride is first and foremost a protest incited by your Black, Latine, Indigenous, butch and unapologetically queer and kinky trancestors.

It's the start of transgender awareness week
As someone who honors & venerates my ancestors in queerness/transness ("trancestors", if you will) this is a very very important week for me spiritually as well as a trans person. My ancestor altar is ready for my most honored dead; I am planning on praying to them as often as I remember to. Maybe I'll share some of my prayers here, if it seems appropriate.
The Transgender day of Rememberance, where we honor our siblings who were murdured by anti-trans violence, I will be away from home with a friend of mine who's nonbinary. I might ask if they want to have a small vigil, but if they don't want to, that's perfectly fine. I have this week and the rest of my life to dedicate to their memory.

Yesterday, I listened to, and recited my own, beautiful and powerful poems and talks by members of my community for trans day of remembrance, and listened to the reading of the names. At the end of the official presentation, one of the members in charge of the event gave one last name, for a member of our community who had passed only about a month ago. I heard the name and my mind was blank for a minute. But eventually it registered.
My first day in the homeless shelter, they were my roommate. I'd talk to them some when we were each back from our respective daily responsibilities. They were always kind. I remember they taught me how to properly lock the bathroom door here, bc let's be real, it's a men's homeless shelter. And in their words "you gotta be careful". I am pretty good at not crying for the most part. I was feeling deeply ofc up until that point, but I didn't think I would cry last night. Or again making this post, apparently???
And man, does grief ever need community. There's something so important about facing these things with the survivors and supporters who you can both metaphorically and literally hold onto. And remember with.
Rest in power, Chappelle. And all the others whose names I has to learn from tragedy. I didn't know you well. But I did know you. And I will remember.

#PrideMonth is not over #StonewallWasARiot that lasted 3 days. We’re still in the midst of the 50th anniversary of the #StoneWallUprising. 50 years ago Trans & Queer people had few places to gather. During an era where social segregation in nyc was the norm, our elders tell us #Stonewall was an imperfectly mixed space. While one of the most diverse spaces, people were also denied entry, so it would not tip to have too many Trans folks, Drag Queens, Sex Workers, Street Folks, or Lesbians. Afterall the mafia needed to keep enuf rich white men in the space to extort them. Stonewall like all spaces #LGBTQI people gathered was often raided and people were brutalized and humiliated by a racist, homophobic and transphobic police force. The mafia & police knew how to manipulate the differences & privileges. But the elders say that night of the #StonewallRiots in 1969 some other energy took over & people unified. The police were targeting #TransWomen & #CrossDressers demanding to check their genitalia. Our #Trancestors & #DragQueens refused. At the same time officers were also sexually assaulting cis #Lesbians feeling their chests & genitalia while frisking them. A crowd gathered outside the Stonewall. People being assaulted by the police fought back. When the police escalated a riot of swinging fists, purses, wigs, fabric, beer bottles, garbage cans, pennies, bricks, and song ensued. Our elders say the police were scrambling and humiliated getting whooped by the “fairies & sissies.” A #ButchLesbian in handcuffs escaped & fought four officers. Police pistols were met with fire. A parking meter was pulled from the ground & used as a battering ram. The riot lasted three days and the resisters tripled in number. Straight allies who had experienced police brutality also joined. And the news spread throughout the world of the revolt. When the #TacticalPatrolForce was brought in Trans Women and Drag Queens fought furiously and brilliantly. They kept escaping arrest. A singing chorus kickline was formed in front of brutalizing police. #Stonewall50 #WorldPride2019 #AbolitionNow #DecolonialQueer https://www.instagram.com/p/BzYer7_gL6e/?igshid=1p812br33rgn2

Happy Women’s History Month! Every day I am reminded of the amazing trans women who came before us, paving the way for women everywhere to celebrate our histories.
Sandy Stone and Wendy Carlos helped break hundreds of women into music producing. Sylvia Rivera, Marsha P Johnson, and Lee Brewster brought countless women into the queer and trans movements. Chelsea Manning inspired a new generation of feminist anti-war protesters. Lynn Conway and Sophie Wilson launched the careers of numerous notable women in STEM, after making the internet possible through the contributions to computer science. S
aying trans women are women is just the most basic step. Celebrating our trancestors and their contributions to women's history is an ongoing process we can take part in every day.
