One is the loneliest number. Originally known as the Canyon Padre Trading Post the Twin Arrows Trading Post has been around since the late 1940s. Over the years the tourist trap has been home to a gas station, diner and gift shop… and it’s iconic twin wooden arrows parallel to each other in the ground. The interstate bypass took its toll on the roadside attraction and the place closed down in the late 90s. These days graffiti, the Arizona sun and the winds of time has beaten down on Twin Arrows which is down to a lone standing arrow. A Piazza Navona több okból is egyik kedvencem lett. Egyrészről itt jóval kevesebb volt a turista, mint a Trevi-kútnál, vagy a Forum Romanum körül, másrészről legalább annyira beleszerettem a teret középen uraló Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, azaz a Négy folyó kútjába, mint az előbb említett testvérébe.. Bernini alkotása a négy világrész legnagyobb folyóit jelképezi: 💧Gangesz - Ázsia 💧Nílus - Afrika 💧Duna - Európa 💧Rio de la Pata - Amerika Mindegyiknél a növény- és állatmotívumok is az adott térségről árulkodnak, nekem mégis kedvenceim az istenalakok, egészen pontosan a hozzá költött mesék. Ugyanis közvetlen a szökőkút szomszédságában áll a Sant’Agnese in Agone templom, melynek homlokzatát Bernini vetélytársa, Borromini tervezett.
