OKAY so I was just re-reading LAN and thought what if your other AU/Multiverses met the tiny scared babies? Like NM being obviously protective of Dream, since he was obviously so weak from there being absolutely NO positivity. And NM is basically kinda high on negativity without realizing it? If he's got a bad crack in his skull and the injury from the hunter then he's also in bad shape. The au's would obviously want to help the twins and the twins being super suspicious. Mostly NM

(Honestly I can't decide if they would be considered "tiny" if they met everyone else, since in LAN, the world grew around them rather than them shrinking... but that's also no fun, so bitty sized bois they be--)

Winged verse: Dream is immediately all over them. He can sense the negativity just radiating off of them, both from their own souls and from the atmosphere they'd been a part of. LAN!Dream is definitely weakened, his brother horribly wounded, and W!Dream knows it. He's got them wrapped up in his wings as soon as he knows what's going on. His feathers are the best source of positivity, afterall! And honestly, the LAN twins probably don't... freak out too much about him? He's clearly a big version of Dream, and he's clearly positivity reincarnated. Even if a bit hesitantly, they trust him.

Not so easy with W!Nightmare though. Not only does he reek of negativity, but he also is covered in the same weird goop they were finding leaking from TV screens and glitchy dead children… (which most definitely makes LAN!Dream start acting. A little off around his own brother). W!NM doesn't really press this too much. He's interested in their world, sure, but there's just something far too unsettling about seeing a passive version of himself with such injuries (the same injury) so he wants nothing to do with the two of them. Clearly W!Dream and the others can handle this one.

... Everyone else is probably in the same boat as either of them: protective/concerned, or just dismissive. Lotta them probably just think they're from a bitty fighting rink honestly.

Dragon Balance (TTS): LAN bois are immediately on the defensive. It's kinda the same as the winged world, where Dragon!Dream (and everyone else, honestly) is super concerned over their condition, but unlike before, LAN!Night isn't so sure about dragons approaching him and his twin. Dragon!Dream has to shift to normal just to somewhat get their trust, and even then it's not immediate, what if it's a trick?? They cling to Dragon!Dream pretty quickly after that though, he is a good source for healing and such.

Dragon!Nightmare and his crew are definitely more involved here, too. The gang want to help this other version of their boss and Dream as much as possible, and Dragon!NM just doesn't like seeing a tiny version of Dream so hurt and confused. It takes a LOT longer for the twins to get used to them all, especially to Dragon!NM for the same goopy reasons as above (but more intense, cuz his dragon form is freaky af to their tiny asses), but they'll warm up eventually.

Wyrms on Strings (FED): Once again, Noodle!Dream immediately wants to help, it just now comes with the whiny begging towards his father for FED!Error's assistance as well. And quite honestly, he's adorable, the LAN twins can't say no to that face, dragon or not. LAN!NM is totally enamored with this young version of his brother, it's giving him massive flashbacks.

Which, speaking of flashbacks, the moment Error or Ink pull the bag off LAN!Night's head to help heal his skull a bit, Noodle!Nightmare suddenly wants nothing to do with them. He's terrified because omg that could have been him. He got out with just a thin crack over his eye socket after Error was there to heal him, but what if the villagers had been harsher? Would he have a giant hole in his head too?? You bet your ass he's avoiding the LAN twins for a long damn time, and who's he retreating to?? Probably Horror.

... But y'know, once the dust settled, when everyone was ok and everything was a little better, at least the noodle twins are small enough to give the LAN twins rides.

I had meant to say this before, but I know you'll do amazing if you do decide to go into radio! Your stream was super chill the other night and you're just pleasant to listen to, if that makes sense?

Roswell NM 2x06

I finally watched the episode (and the Legends episode, which I watched just after --a gr10 decision because it was awesome). I don’t have as many Thoughts(TM) as usual. Unsurprisingly, since Rosa isn’t in the episode and she takes three out of my four feelings. The fourth goes back and forth between Maria and Kyle, and sometimes Liz and, unfortunately, Michael xD. Anyway. I look forward to seeing her deal with her powers. And apparently her mother! I’ve wanted her to appear since episode one, so I’m excited about it (also my dumb ass only recently noticed Rosa’s middle name is Helena, like her mother, and I have Feelings about it).

I have a lot of mixed feelings wrt The Foretold Threesome (lol), thought they’re probably... different than those of most fans (I’m just still side-eying about how Maria’s racebending influenced the writers okay). I did love the conclusion, both the Alex/Michael conversation (which is my favourite scene from then in the show so far just... it pulled the right strings, yup), and the Miluca one, with her starting out insecure and the reassurances. Wrt The Drama, I’ll just say... look. I can totally see why it’d make someone feel uncomfortable, for a variety of reasons, even if I’d likely disagree with their interpretation. BUT I have NO sympathy for those that argue it was a dub/non con scene, and then only really put the blame on Maria, clearly wanting to leave a space to continue shipping Michael/Alex. Like... I just can’t believe you’d do that if you were speaking from an honest place, sorry.

I cannot belive Forrest, the WWII enthusiast is the best new romantic interest the season (yeah, I know he’s not One Of Those, it’s obvious. And he named his dog Buffy, that scored him points. But of ALL time periods you could pick for a history nerd to obsess over... WWII? Really? *Sighs*. I know it makes sense with the town’s history but STILL). Between “no public healthcare” girl and the “breeder” lesbian (who I really hope we don’t see again. Look, I do not care about whatever reasoning fellow queer people use. I fucking hate that word. The fact that she said it to a guy who was also in a gay bar makes it worse). Anyway. Yeah. The Alex/Forrest scenes were cute, too. Though I’ll say werewolf guy >>>>>>>> any stand up poetry IN THE WORLD LMAO. Pls make him a genuine character, I love him xDD.

The pseudo-horror movie plot with Alex and Maria was fun, however (“the gay guy always dies first” *Maria’s EXCUSE ME expression* “or second. that’s fair. that look is fair” xDDD). The TVD daylight ring reference KILLED me lmao. And their conversations in the car got to me. Also LMAO at Michael, the one with super powers, getting knocked down in less than ten seconds and being completely useless xDD.

Anyway. I totally got a kick out of Kyle rejecting Isobel’s ass, even if it was for Steph of all people. THANK GOD. I was worried when I heard they flirted lol. I’m also grateful Isobel’s ONS was a white girl, because her track record with WoC is terrible. Now I just want the show to never bring up Rosa/Isobel again with this as an excuse, thanks. BTW, I hate the word “queerbaiting” and disagree with most of its uses, to be frank, but this thing with Kyle gets... headed in that direction, js, given how it’s obvious the writers are aware about fandom and its headcanons etc. And I have no dog in this fight because I have issues with all of Kyle’s ships LMFAO (except, ironically, Kyle/Michael, lmao. It’d be straightforward at the very least).

“Maybe I’m pregnant, you’re not my gynecologist” is going to be Max’s shining moment forever and ever. Paired with Liz’s worse when she says what happened with Rosa no longer matters (to her) smh. It fucking does. Resurrecting Rosa doesn’t undo the damage because Rosa’s death wasn’t the only harm done, okay? They ruined and shat all over her memory, they made Arturo and Liz a target, they contributed to a racist af climate that endangered people beyond the Ortechos. The LEAST Rosa deserves is an apology; and a real one, not Isobel’s “I do this to feel better and get something out of you, but I’ll violently hit you and invade your mind tomorrow” one. Michael clearly doesn’t give enough of a damn to even THINK that he might need to apologize. I have some hopes for Max (who would’ve thunk he’d been the pod sibling I’d feel most lenient towards a year ago. I mean, he still has moments where I cannot stand him, but still xD. I’m actually enjoying his dynamic with Rosa this last few episodes), though I hope it won’t translate on Rosa becoming all buddy-buddy with him, because nope. Not so much for the ~morals of it all, tbh, but because I think it’s better for her, narrative-wise, if Rosa remains A Skeptic.

And like I say, that’s the least they should do, after what they caused. The least. And now ROSA has brought Max back to life --their debt to her is STAGGERINGLY HIGH, AFAIC. So yeah, Liz. It still fucking matters. And I sincerely hope Rosa never lets any of them conveniently forget.

BTW, with this new mention of Liz’s ex-fiancé, and now that the show is pulling Kyle away from the triangle (at least temporarily), I fully expect Diego to make an appearance, sooner or later.

Today I started by trying to help Sarah with the HPLC purification of our product wire. However, due to the extreme challenge of separating compounds that only differ by the degree of alkylation, she basically kicked me off when Marco came and asked us to finish the media.

Thus today I made the rest of the media for pAF MS2. I added the 18AA solution w/o C & Y, then the 20% arabinose, a heavy metals soln, tetracycline, and ampicillin to the previously autoclaved media (pictured is all the stuff I added under flame so its sterile). I took a sample as a blank then added the overnight cultures marco prepared. I let them incubate at 36ºC in the stir thing. After they reached an OD 600 nm of 0.8 (after 5 hours at about 6 pm), I added ~10 mL of pAF solution. Tomorrow we get pAF MS2!!! Hells yeah!! and we made so much we probs won’t have to make any more until late fall. 

Meantime, Sarah was able to separate the three compounds using the magic HPLC. Papa Bless, I have no idea how or what she did, it was magic. Hopefully we get a good yield. 

Today I also took an NMR for “fun.” I went to the facility and walked in. There was nobody there except some dudes from the Hartwig Group on the AV-500. Totally Chill right? so I log on to the AVB-400 and go to remove the standard. As I’m removing it this short asian guy shows up behind me and coughs a little expectantly when I don’t hand him the floater. When I start to put my sample in it he asks “do you have a reservation??” and I’m like “WAT.” I back down obviously but I’m confused about why he was being kinda rude? I thought the procedure was to log on to the computer to claim it before putting a sample in? I am also confused about why the system let me log on to an NMR at 4:09 when it was ‘reserved’ at 4:10 pm... How am I supposed to know if this guy had a valid reservation??? What the frick???? What if I told him to fuck off I was here first???? Idk like none of this NMR shit is clear to me. Which ones can I use?? which ones are walk on?? which ones are reservation only??

More importantly, which machines are which. There are no labels. how do I know what one I’m using? Where are the cheap AF signs that say AV-300, AVB-400, AVQ-400, AV-500, etc???? I could make these signs. I volunteer. takes 5 mins. I could bring my own. I have at least 10 sheets of paper and a sharpie and tape. fuck me. 

Anyways, I ended up on the AVQ-400 and that’s when hella people started to show the fuck up. Like everyone was trying to avoid 4:20 blaze it by taking NMR at the same damn time. So my idea of trying to get some practice for ~30 was p rekt. I took the H NMR just fine and still had ~8 mins on the machine but I had made the panel with the button to start the C13 NMR go away and had to frantically look for it for 5 mins and then said fuck it I’ll wait again by the time the person behind me pointed to where I needed to click. I could have figured it out, it’s just this damn time crunch where everyone is all over the fucking place. Like calm the fuck down! We will all get NMR, I just need 20 mins straight on a machine. Ugh. I want to practice more. 

My Carbon spectra looked like crap. Not even worth it to take. And that’s what Sarah wanted from this compound. The proton NMR looked funky fresh. It didn’t match what she had already and was tripping her out. I’m not sure what was going on. chemistry is hit or miss honestly.........

This was my 2nd time taking an NMR by myself, I have taken less than 10 NMRs in my life, and I haven’t had the low field training yet. I do that on Friday. Hopefully I can level up this skill stat. 

Overall, it was a good day. I just want to get up earlier because I start school soon and need to be on that 6:30 AM wake up life.
