anything you've been doing lately: prepping hardcore for artfight lol. i was hoping that earlybird signups would open sooner so i could target hunt better buuuut it is fine im saving a load of characters for when the website inevitably crashes. so far ive done everything including animate my icon so i think im all prepared (i always think that until the fight actually starts lmfaooo)

anything you intend to do later: today is my last day off work before artfight so im using it to relax and i intend to play overwatch until my brain leaks out my ears

it's really hard to balance irl stuff with online stuff sometimes >.< I've had a lot going on in my head recently, but I'm trying really hard not to let it overwhelm me, which is easier said than done lmao overall though I'm doing well! ^-^

you hit the nail on the head regarding what's so wonderful about Christmastime!! it's also just always been a really special/nostalgic time of year for me and my family, and I also adore Christmas music haha. it all just fills me with a lot of warm, cozy feelings~ I really like winter all-around though, I'm the kind of person who prefers the cold over the hot, although I think my favorite season is probably spring cuz it's the perfect in-between! 💕

And lastly my absolute favs right now and I can talk about them forever Dabi & Hawks - I love literally everything about them individually and together. Dabi, who was told he's never been enough but consistently proving that everyone is wrong (literally living when he should be dead through sheer will power and vengence) vs. Hawks, who always remember "what is he even good for" and desperately tries to prove he can be of use? Dabi, who's ready to die while taking revenge vs. Hawks, who's willing to die to save everyone else? They're both so much more than who they pretend to be, who they wear that mask for and I think sometimes people misunderstand them for it, but its why I LOVE THEM!

I love their dynamic and how they used each other in the manga, I love that they're on opposite sides of a war both with ideals that clash so differently and they're perfect foils of each other, and yet so easily they could have been in each other's shoes. I think it makes them understand each other in a way that no one else does when all their lives, they've been very much alone. Their tragic backstories also plays into their character development very well (and every ch it shows me this!) Contrary to some opinions out there (esp. about hawks oof) , I think Horikoshi did a fantastic job writing them and they are the most interesting in the animanga by far and why I picked up the manga. There's so much to explore with them, so much potential angst and parallels between them, but even on their own they're just written SO WELL.

Hawks views are so skewed and it shows because of how he was brought up (by a family who didn't want him and then bought by the commission to be a solider) and it's so ingrained into who he is today, but he genuinely still just wants to "do good and protect people", so he's still the best hero in my eyes. 😭 And Dabi, who obviously isn't innocent, but you can't help but root for him to live at the end of it anyways bcus Dabi was genuinely good once and he tried so hard to be, he couldve been the best fucking hero. They're so flawed and fucked up in their own ways, but I love them for it and they're PERFECT. At the end of the day, I know they've done heinous things but they both deserved so much more. Latest chapter with them meeting again has me screaming too and I'm so excited to see what's next in manga!! There's so much more I could say but sorry this is so long already!! How about you, are you a fan of BNHA and who's your favs? 😁

And I'm also into a lot of other animes (seasonal or otherwise like sxf (so so good and heartwarming), csm, tokrev, jjk, mp100, golden kamuy, a lot of slice of life and lesser known ones, etc.) if you wanna know more ^^

WIP(s) Updates

Hi there! As many of you know, IM PUBLISHING A BOOK!!!! It’s called The Sun Leads Back To You and it comes out early next year. Now, since I have been pretty much been talking about querying and traditional publishing my sci-fi novel The Wrath of Chaos for pretty much my entire time on writer-gram. So, today I will be sharing some updates on both in case anyone cares lol

How far along am I on TSLBTY?

As of today, writing this post, I am 25k into the first draft with 9 chapters remaining. I would love to finish in the next five days while I quarantine but I know myself well enough that it won’t happen lol SO, I’m aiming to finish the first draft in the next two weeks.

What is the timeline for TSLBTY?

My hopeful plan is to publish within the first two months of 2023! If all goes well in the next few weeks, I’ll be living in Germany by then so the publication date will really depend on how quickly I can get proofs and ARCs delivered. Aside from that, I hope to send out ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) around November/December of this year.

What is happening with The Wrath of Chaos?

What happened with this WIP was a terrible case of lack of motivation. After much research and many edits, I came to the conclusion that there wouldn’t be much of an audience for a YA superhero book. The market right now is mostly focused on enemies to lovers fantasy and romantic comedies, while sci-fi has kinda taken a backseat. And my last round of beta readers (and please, none of you take offense to this) really gave me the impression that none of them were really into the story nor did they like it. I don’t know if this is true, but I felt that if I couldn’t even have betas actually enjoy the book, maybe it wasn’t worth it. Plus, I feel that being a Christian writer won’t do me many favors while publishing traditionally (though my stories don’t really deal with religion aside from the ocasional character here and there).

However, I came to the conclusion that the people who don’t like me can suck it, and after two months of working at a call center I think i can confidently say that I am able to handle being yelled without crying. SO, I will continue writing for myself and the three people who still like superheroes and sci-fi.

I believe I mentioned this at some point, but I am only four chapters away from finishing the final draft. So my current plan is that when I take a break after finishing TSLBTY I will finish those last four chapters. I will then take a one week break and dive into the final edits (basically, polishing it as much as possible) before querying. I do not have very high hopes, because as I said, I don’t think there’s really a market for superhero sci-fi, but I have two main goals: two agents I really like and a small publisher I LOVE. If that doesn’t work out, then I will cry for about a week before focusing on TSLBTY and then starting my next book.

Would I self publish TWoC if trad doesn’t work out?

No, and for a very simple reason: money. For The Sun Leads Back To You, the biggest thing I’ll spend money is the cover and MAYBE commission art for promotional stuff and pre-order gifts. However, if I were to self publish The Wrath of Chaos just a (good) editor would cost me over $500. A cover would be at LEAST $150. I am soon to be a college student living abroad and while I do plan on getting a job, it will not be in my first semester or maybe even my first year. Self publishing The Wrath of Chaos would mean spending almost $1000 to sell a maximum ten copies. While I really did consider the possibility, the plan went down the drain when I realized how much it would cost.

Why did I decide to self publish?

I don’t know lol. I started to rewrite the story when I was going through one of my worst period of anxiety I’ve had in years. I started writing until I realized I was doing one chapter per day. Soon enough, it was a story I couldn’t get out of my head. I considered querying this one instead of TWoC, but the more I thought of it the less it made sense. IF, hypothetically, I got an agent, would they represent me when I changed to sci-fi later on? Or would I have to keep writing contemporary and give up on sci-fi? And would I be stuck on YA forever or would there be a possibility to upgrade or NA or even Adult later on? It wasn’t a matter of control like it is for most who choose indie. I looked at what I wanted my career to look like, and my goals for sci-fi align much more with traditional publishing, whereas for contemporary it’s literally just about getting my story out there. Not to mention, I have this challenge with myself of wanting to publish before turning 20. With my birthday in June, even if TWoC or TSLBTY did really well, I wouldn’t get to see them on shelves until I’m 21/22. Now, I will get to hold my book at 19 :)

When will more information be released?

Weellll, today I got and paid for the cover! I hope to have the final draft done by late September/early October. As soon as I do, I will be doing a cover reveal! It’s likely I’ll be kinda quiet until then, but I fully plan on doing teasers (quotes, reels, character introductions) and might start commissioning art around September, depending on how moving goes. Though if anyone wants to donate money to the cause or let me know of (legal) ways to make money please let me know lol.

would anyone be interested if I streamed working on my next Live2D project? it's going to be kind of experimental bc i want to use a less conventional art style and method to layering to see what happens but I'm also just generally trying to think of neat things to stream while i get my legs under me doing it? i used to stream years & years ago but i stopped before it was really smtn mainstream so there's a lot of learning to do before id be any good by today's standards 😳

there's a couple hours of work that goes into preparing the art for rigging, and then a good 10-12 hours worth of work in Live2D creating the animations for face tracking but idk maybe that would be interesting for people who want to see the workflow of another amateur rigging vtubers? now that babe has a good income i can back off commissions and do fun projects and ive really been wanting to stream for the last few months 😩 wdyt?

if that's too boring im also definitely planning on doing charity streams, like those donation posts i reblog offering to do doodles but doing it live. mostly for medical or food related gfms but if none are immediately viable then supporting native communities. in that case it would be a lot of drawing requests for people for donating so lots of varied art instead of one subject! and maybe more engaging than educational?

idk! what do you guys think? the charity streams are for sure but if the Live2D sounds boring i can find other stuff to do too. maybe simple blender 3D modeling or smtn for practice?

(ps im gunna reblog this in the morning bc it's 3:30am so I doubt too many people will see it lol)

Im so sleepy right now lol but anyway update before I sleep. I quit my job yesterday since I'm starting to get heavier assignments now so unfortunately I won't be able to balance between school and work no more which also means that I basically have no income lol so now I have to rely on commissions to support me.

I just made a commission sheet today but I wont be posting now, maybe tomorrow? And I also don't want people to feel that I am here just for profit? Because essentially I am here mostly to gush about my undying love for Utonium. So im just saying that there's no obligation to support me at all or commission me, although I very appreciate it if you do. Either way, I'm going to sleep and rest now, I hope everyone is doing fine 💕💕💕

Translation Plans

Well... my break was pretty good. was finally able to download the clean fresh live version of the cxm secret mission that i had my eye on since i ranked up, saw the 1984 wonder woman movie (it was okay and I could write an essay on what didn’t sit well with me as a fan of the comics [im kinda of a comic book purist when it comes to the way characters think and their behaviour] but I really liked Lynda Carter’s cameo).... made a lot of progress on one of the hakumyu piano arrangements i’m working on (have now probably listened to certain parts of that song over a hundred times now), watched a bunch of the original hakuoki musicals in hd.... and I finally got my dad to play Batman: Arkham Asylum. My bro and I have been trying to get that to happen for years lol... especially since it has Conroy and Hamill doing the Batman and Joker voices (the animated series is the best!). super steep learning curve tho since it’s being played on the ps3 and the last console he used was the Nintendo Gamecube.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to stock up on translations as much as I would have liked to during this time on account of my hardware seriously acting up... to the point that I needed to send my laptop in for repairs and get a new one. Aside from how unresponsive my keyboard was and how hot it got, the laptop itself had become quite slow... though that might have been because my passport [external storage drive] took a bad fall which made a lot of my files harder to access since it was barely able to handle files being accessed/copied/moved off of it (this is after diagnosing it and repairing it via command prompt chkdsk x: / r), with the latter being what I spent most of my break waiting for as i avoided using my laptop since the majority of my drama rips and game capture videos were on it... To give you an idea of how long this took (and how long it is still taking), I went from being able to transfer my 50mb of files in a few seconds... to sometimes taking more than a day (tho other times i’d be able to get 4gb moved in >24 hours, making the timing super inconsistent. also i don’t have access to a cd drive now so i can’t just re-rip things)... which is why I haven’t been able to work on any videos since my last post (I have more than 1.3TB of stuff to move, so my new laptop isn’t exactly at its best right now and won’t be for a long while since I’m not going to be using a recovery service as waiting out the transfers for everything out will definitely be cheaper... the ballpark estimate I got was being anywhere from $500-2000, which is money that i am not exactly eager to part from just for the sake of saving time)... meaning I also probably won’t get to videos for a while since subtitling requires accurate timing and im not fond of things freezing on me while working on videos... ugh. i still have to do an insane amount of grinding later in warframe once my current batch of files finishes transferring...

Anyway, below is a list of what I’ve mostly managed to schedule (anything with a “?” is something that I haven’t committed to) and a list of what I’d like to get done this year (can’t make any guarantees... however, im probably going to try and translate some things with souma this year cuz of hakumyu), while the stuff in bold text is on my shortlist of things I intend to prioritize (Saito’s Ginsei no Shou chapters and Shinsengumi Oni-tan are still being worked on though not as actively since they’re a lot longer...).

Also, aside from December, the month that CNY falls on (February this year) and March (bday) will be the only foreseeable times when I put out less translations tho I’ll probably be playing video catch-up during that time this year since i’m not sure what i’ll be able to get done as i wait for my files to get moved.

oh well. I’m still aiming towards posting stuff on a weekly basis for the rest of the year... here’s hoping that it’s less volatile.... tho i unfortunately have non-existent expectations given what made the news yesterday. just glad i don’t live there.

also, re:patreon goal - i am currently not able to access the files for the drama i am looking to get a translation commissioned for as it is in the process of being moved off of my damaged passport. 29gb remains as part of that transfer, which is the result of me trying to move all 865 files from where i keep the majority of the hakuoki dramas i’ve saved all at once... ended up doing that because every time I access that hard drive, each time i open up a folder, and every time I highlight a file to move, the file explorer goes “not responding” for an uncertain amount of time, and have instead opted in doing something that would hopefully reduce the likelihood of something crashing.

waddup jay !!! me n my friend decided to get a job at like walmart or target (mostly target bc walmart is spooky at night) n now we're just,,,,,figuring out how to actually get a job ;; i wanted to maybe start doing commissions when i got older or something that i can do at home n still get money but like,,,,who would buy my stuff lol idk anyone and i only talk to like two people altogether. i dunno !!! im just rlly nervous of doing an interview bc i cant talk !!!

ayo~~ sorry for replying late, I was out unexpectedly;; good luck with your job searching tho~~ my ex worked at wm and found they were super nice about their gender ID and physical/mental health requirements ! idk if that’s a general experience or they just got lucky but, of people I’ve known they’ve found work in places like that pretty good for being nice if u struggle with things a bit~ (also dont give up on the idea of commissions or anything ; u; that was what I wanted to do when I was in my mid teens n it seemed impossible but it worked out~) n ye there’s tons of things you could do online ! there’s so many opportunities to do things that don’t require having to be great at being a person in society ;;

aksjdn I sympathise with tao stress..he is gonna be super active this month, but at least the roadshows seem pretty short and uneventful. I’m sure you’re doing it fine tho~~ taozi wouldn’t want you getting stressed out over him :c

i watched a movie today at the cinema lol...just because i wanted to eat popcorn...and i realise ppl really only go to the cinema for 2 reasons...1 to date or 2 as hang out activity with friends but i think mostly still number 1 to date....and i of course fall in the non-existent category which is just to have an excuse to eat popcorn....watched king arthur simply because the name and poster look like it can be a blockbuster...but the thing was i actually googled it at the counter before buying the tix....funny how my internet was workign so fast suddenly and all the searches showed it was a flopped basically the reviews were bad...and yet a min looking at it i went straight to buy it....tryna to convince myself it cant be that bad right....well it was horrible not to mentioned they made us watched ads for fucking 20mins!!! yea definitely dont rmb when was the last time i went to a cinema got tortured like this....and the movie thought it was gonna at least be exciting but damn its farrrrrr from it....but at least therere a few funny lines here and there....but then the visual effects were good like realluy good but the storyline mygadddd!

i went at first to submit the resignation letter and thought i could get my cheque today but nope....they said friday so yea wtf....and angie realised i didnt write the date of the letter...and so guess what yea i printed it and nope i aint gonna put the date....just to screw them up if theres anything wrong with it...gonna ask someone to bring the cheque to me outside and i will pass the letter and just leave like that!! and ive started writing bout the article i wanna share on wob...but now im gonna focus on just 2 angle 1st mostly on how the company hire and exploit staffs as probationer and keeping us as probationers without valid reasons and depriving us of the commissions we worked for and never gave us a official written assessment report....im not sure if companies actually do that but logically speaking shouldnt that be only fair for us???? because what if after month and months later new invalid hearsay surface about our work performance??? from the way i see it this is so fucking wrong....i rmb even when working at toywatch they hired as part timer knowing id stay only for 3 months but i did less than that yet i got SOOO much of commission well good thing they were a hit back then. and now i wonder why sunni being their best sales person would just leave the company and shes close with tahnee prolly she knew the company was having some troubles who knows....and i wonder what if someone gets bully at workplace how can they do with it??? because company always backup their own staffs....like shirley she said just because she always argue with angie ok i understand shes a senior admin staff but still makes no sense one is in sales another in admin you cant just simply deny ppl liek that!!!! and i think the lesson here can also be working in a small company may not be good....too much political can get into the way and they can easily gang up and not go through things with the right protocol...im sooooo tired with this but i gotta hold up till i get my cheque and share the story no way i can just let it go so easily what if other ppl face the same problem again because theres no fucking maximum probation length i still cant fucking believe this!!!

i feel so sick just thinking bout this entire thing....good news is i called mr anwar today told him i no longer working there...and told him next time i could help him with things like how i helped him...and he said i can call him when im around bukit bintang and we can discuss...sooo now im like hmmm when should i actually go and see him??? if i do it this week surely liek damn pushy maybe next week because im afraid if i drag it long we might forget bout it...haizzzz my head cannot think properly....and im not done with the site!!

last night i got a message from her on fb so she unblock me lol...and said she blocked me cause im bitter after she gave me some advice...but seriously im just toooo tired to even tryna explain myself...because shes obviously kinda wrong about me....i do hear ppl out if theyre undertsanding and have the willignness to hear ppl out first...like shahbell and angie i know theyre....but omg i cant believe shes the type who makes assumptions out of ppl....she doesnt even know someone well enough to say all that....i mean i know i stalked her and all that and it gave her a very bad impression of who i am...but still haizzzzz seriously next time shalinn youre required to think fasterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrr
