Chapter 14 notes
Because I adore this story with my whole heart and wrote this chapter in a feral three day blitz and have massive Pietas brain rot, here are some of my notes:
Melania Macmillan- she is increasingly seeming like the glue that held the family together. She curbed Arcturus's excesses and taught both Sirius and Orion to look for their stars when they were upset. I also added the parallel of Arcturus tending her plants just like Sirius tried to at Grimmauld (they both loved her so much but can't express it in a healthy way).
Arcturus and his trauma- He is deeply affected by the chaos of troubled childhood and is therefore very strict and harsh on those around him. He is also massively projecting his father onto Sirius.
Dalia- she was not cut out for motherhood and while her husband wasn't unkind to her, there is some truth in what she wrote. Also she does love her daughter (in her own way).
The rivalry between Otto and Darcy was supposed to be a mirror to Regulus and Sirius- albeit one that is kept in check by their 'mother'.
The way Aeliana is hesitant but not afraid to speak with Leone is a contrast to how Regulus suppresses his emotions when speaking with Orion. Also Leone has a fully thought-out plan about how he would flay Sirius alive (do I find the unhinged protectiveness hot?..........)
Regulus tangling his thoughts about Aeliana with Walburga- I wonder what he's really jealous of.
Sirius is that mix of vulnerable and cocky - also, he would totally create art if he set his mind to becoming a poet.
Neither of the teenagers is thinking in this chapter and I enjoyed using the symbol of sweat-soaked sheets and the different forms of media they were drawing from in their dreams (Aeliana = her smutty romance books and Sirius= his stolen magazines).

hi ^^ im not sure about sending asks unprompted but ive been thinking about the similarities between juste and leon (the shared design cues, black haired green clad friend slash rival, chatting up death (although juste does a lot more of that than... literally any other character except hector), stuff like that) and i wondered if you had any thoughts on it (since juste and leon are also the only protagonist belmonts in igavanias; trevor, richter and julius are there but arent the focus of their games)
also, on the thing about juste and hector being similar with the furniture collection: theyre also similar in that theyre the two characters to have basically the most dialogue shared with death, at least as far as the games go (hector because of zead being a atalker)
(send away! I appreciate asks <3)
Mh, I didn't think much about their parallels but yes, being the only main IGAvania Belmonts comes with similarities. They're also both pretty boys while most Belmonts tend to be macho :P and, more seriously, they both can cast spells through the fusion of subweapons and color-coded artifacts. Which is interesting, because it's repeatedly said that Juste's magic comes from Sypha, but apparently Leon had already a degree of magical powers. Personality-wise, they're both noble hearted and willing to do everything to save their loved ones? Leon comes off as a little more idealistic if not naive, though.
(I never noticed that they both have green-coded, black-haired rivals. mh. something something maxim's duality paralleling mathias'... ehh I'm sure there's something there)
Oh, and they both have badass quotes. "I'll kill you and the night!", "Vile spawn of Maxim, you are not worthy of being my opponent" <3
Hector and Juste are even less similar. The one parallel I can find is that they're both accused of being Alucard clones 😂 poor Juste doesn't deserve it, being a Long Haired Pretty Boy is common in CV (although I still don't understand why he's also vulnerable to water - Alucard is a dhampir, Nathan in CoTM had to deal with cursed water, what is Juste's excuse?). At least with Hector there are some substantial similarities. But no, I can see the contrast between Hector's dark magic and Juste's light (?) magic, but not much more. I guess Juste is surprisingly aggressive despite his pretty appearance, much like Hector is in perpetual angry mode in CoD? lol
and in the end, now i wonder what death thinks of all three of them, especially juste lol

Joachim/Walter and Leon/Sara (and if you want Hector/Dracula >:3)
:3
Joachim/Walter
The way they are such a toxic cesspool bordering comedy. Absolutely divorced. Joachim curses Walter and shows such a hatred for him while Walter is sitting on his throne sending him knights to kill all like "lmao have fun ;)" (at least until Joachim mode get's the tables turned around)
The development of their relationship; how Joachim fell for Walter's manipulations and followed only for envy, Walter's general insufferableness and whatever shit he put Joachim through made it all rot, to the point of a rebellion... that he lost. All complimented by Walter being an A+ bastard (this is if we go by the older Walter route. If we go by the younger Walter then its even more hillarious and also more manipulation games)
The way their color schemes compliment eachother. Red/orange/black and purple/white/black contrast hell yea
Leon/Sara
ABSOLUTE CUTIES. They legitly love and care for eachother so much, and i like to think that they also became besties, helped compliment eachother's weaknesses and just made the other a better person. My sweet babies
On a similar note, the lengths they're willing to go for the other's safety, to the point of Leon renouncing his titles and lands and risking his life for her while she was ready to sacrifice herself, and then take care of his children as the whip's spirit for centuries upon centuries. They both carry a will to do what's right and help others, they understand and trust eachother in their morals and i just love it <3
And ofc the tragedy :). How Leon has to kill Sara with his own weapon. How he carries her with him, together but separated by death at the same time, at least until death claims Leon too (not Death tho he got his ass wiped). How Sara, someone so sweet and kind, is now an spirit of vengeance destined for murder and bloodshed (of monsters but still violence) yet she still cares for Leon's children, their children, despite how she might never see him again. Now if you excuse me- *gross sobbing*
Hector/Dracula
Emotional abuse.jpg; I like when Dracula shows his cunning and in this case it's the straight up psychological warfare he'd use against Hector in order to break the forgemaster's sense of self. And we're talking about a severe power imbalance already, with Drac already being a lord, mentor and mayhaps even a father figure for a very vulnerable and lonely young guy who's rejected by society. Oh no :^)
The parallels. Not only he is trying to replace Lisa in his grief but he's also repeating his failed plan of bringing Leon with him into eternity, replacing him too in a way. He's ready to use these two young men, powerful yet dependent on him, with the difference of having legitimate affection for Leon while Hector is just his current bone to chew up while he's suffering (and also Hector being "easier" to mess up (see point 1))
It gives Hector's escape more depth ? ( hmm im not sure what is the best word to use). Not only he is abandoning a senseless genocide bc he was done being used, he is also fleeing an abusive relationship, and despite all the hells he went through, and the manipulation devised so that he would remain trapped, he went ahead and chased his freedom anyways. And later on not only he manages to rebuild his life and get a lovely wife (it goes wrong but that's more, Isaac's fault), he also get's to kill ressurected Dracula. Hell yes dude go send that absolute bastard straight to hell :D

Last Night (Leon Kennedy x Reader)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Infinite Darkness!Leon x GN!Reader
Warning(s): Implied sex
This is about a dream I had a few nights ago. I added a few things at the end bc the ending in my dream didn’t make sense but I’ll explain it later at the end notes.
*****
“Ugh! She’s a fucking headache!”
The coolness of the air conditioning in the briefing room dried up the remaining sweat on your back and forehead and your hands went disgustingly sticky with the clamminess clinging into your palm. Fatigued and dozy you were, you were sure you were going to pass out right there in your seat.
You, along with your partner, Leon, were tasked to save Ashley Graham again, this time in a more urban part of Italy. When the president told you about her getting kidnapped again, you legit rolled your eyes and Leon nudged your side when he saw the subtle gesture you displayed. Had Leon had the audacity to disrespect people who had higher power than him in his line of work, he would’ve flipped the president off and took the both of you to a nearby bar. He wasn’t like that though, much to your dismay. He still had that “mama’s boy” attitude in him even when he left some of it during his “rookie day” or night or something.
You were close to rioting that time. They were going to send you to that fucking mission again with only the two of you and hand you both shitty-ass pistols with ten fucking bullets. Who the fuck does that? Wouldn’t you send the whole team if you, the president of the United fucking States, had a daughter that’s been kidnapped? Also, why the fuck didn’t they enhance the fucking security level? Hello? Parenting 101?
Leon crashed onto the couch beside you, making you bounce a bit, before shaking his hair from the grease and dampness his locks held. “Agreed. I might’ve lost my ears right there…again,” he grunted as he stretched his arms above his head and managed to pop a few joints in the process. “Wanna grab a few drinks after this?”
With your head leaned against the back of the couch, you turned to look at your friend with jaded eyes and a lazy smile. You nodded in response and slapped a hand on his thigh. “Sure.”
*****
You may or may not have had one too many drinks and danced around like a fucking worm on crack. Leon had one of his arms wrapped around your waist and a glass of whiskey in his free hand as he ground against your skirt-clad ass while you responded back with the same enthusiasm as him. Both of you were drunk, that’s for sure. Not only with pure intoxication, but also with a sinful desire; something you two unknowingly shared on nights where fingers worked their magic to bring you both to a blissful high. You knew they weren’t enough to satisfy your wants, but they were enough to calm your racing thoughts temporarily instead of committing to a one-time thing and bringing awkwardness in the atmosphere, at least you thought it would’ve been a one-time thing.
Leon whispered naughty things into your ear, things he wouldn’t have said had he been conscious enough to stop himself from making a move, and boldly dipped a finger in your skirt and rubbed your pussy through your underwear. He was going to make love to you, he said, and he would make sure that you would be his. You bit your lip as you moaned at his words. He was hot and you would gladly let him fuck you anytime, anywhere. And so, you agreed.
*****
Ring. Ring. Ring.
The provoking sound of your phone pulled you away from your dream. Your fantasy was so close to getting to the good part. Leon was about to fucking kiss you and then somebody decided to fucking wake you up! You sighed. If somebody woke you up this early then you guessed it was really important. So, despite being piqued and groggy from the sudden sound, you picked your phone up from the night stand beside your bed, not even thinking about how different your room looked, and checked the time before answering the call. “Hello?” You spoke, your voice raspy and your throat feeling like a thousand knives were stabbed into it. You also took note of how your head felt like you were banging it against the wall with so much speed and vigor and attempted to ease it down with a simple massage but to no avail.
“Morning, Y/N!”, the voice from the other line boomed, causing your agonizing condition to aggravate even more.
Ashley
You groaned at the contrasting enthusiasm the girl had and you had to slam the phone on the mattress to ground yourself and keep you from dying. “Can you keep your voice down? I have a headache right now and it would be much appreciated if you could calm down,” you said after bringing your device back to your ear.
“Oh, sorry. I was just going to ask if you could meet me in the church later? I wanted to talk to you about something while we get everything set for my wedding tomorrow. I tried calling Leon, but he wouldn’t answer. Can you do me a favor of telling him about it too?”
“Yeah, yeah. I’ll call him.”
“Thanks, Y/N! I’ll see you later,” she said. The call ended with a series of beeps and you slammed your phone on the bed again with your eyes shut tight in irritation.
I cannot deal with that girl again. Especially now that I’m hungover… But who am I to deny the president’s fucking daughter…?
You sighed.
Welp, time to call Leon.
You raised your phone up parallel to your face and was about to press Leon’s saved contact name when you suddenly felt an arm wrap around your torso. Your heart pounded. With eyes opened wide and brain waking up from its slumber in an instant, you slowly turned your head towards your left and almost screamed at what you saw…or rather who you saw.
Leon.
His chest was exposed to the warmth of the morning air, hair strands clamped together by oil and sweat that was starting to form on his skin. He was still deep in his slumber and you noticed how the round bulge tucked in his eyelids moved around as if he was exploring something in his dream.
Never had you and Leon shared a bed together. Those times where he would come over to your place for a drink? He would always insist that he could just crash into your couch in order to avoid invading your privacy.
You panicked at the situation you were in. You grabbed the hem of your blanket and yanked it up to check if anything did happen, and surprise, surprise; something did. You were both naked and you felt something drying up down there. You also started taking notice of how your vagina felt sore from probably getting pounded and fucked silly last night-
Oh, right! Last night.
You vaguely remembered how Leon touched your body while you two were getting drunk. You two were getting a bit too flirty and began groping each other here and there, getting more and more suggestive as minutes passed, pie-eyed and unconscious with how you were treating each other as more than friends.
Every corner and every wall your eyes passed was becoming a void of something dark, something you became anxious of. What happened would forever change your friendship and your relationship with him for sure. Hell, you weren’t even sure if he was going to stay by your side starting from when he wakes up in a few minutes. And as much as you wanted to go back and prevent that from happening, you couldn’t, and you had to face the music whether you liked or not.
*****
Sure enough, when you woke Leon up, everything was awkward. No words were exchange from when you prepared for the day, breakfast, and until Leon drove you both to the location Ashley had told you to go to. The silence rose hysteria in both of your minds. You were going fucking crazy. You were fidgety when you sat beside Leon in the passenger seat and the man would bounce his leg up and down when you hit a red light. You both were trying to avoid taking a glance at each other, but those inevitable moments that you did, you would forcefully smile at each other and then gaze back out the window again. That was the cycle you lived on for a few hours and you decided to let it stay like that until one of you broke the atmosphere.
You waited inside the church as you were told. It was only the two of you inside but you acted like a handful of people were sitting beside you with the amount of space that was left unfilled between you. You were biting your lip and focusing on the pillars and stones that made up the building until you couldn’t process anything that was happening anymore and stood up, studying the interior as you roamed. “Hey,” you heard somebody whisper behind you. You looked down to your wrist when you felt something warm and saw a fairly large hand loosely gripping onto it before looking up to see Leon’s eyes gazing into yours. You nearly got lost in them but thankfully, he spoke before you got stuck into your own stupor. “I just wanna say… I’m sorry. I-it’s not gonna change everything that happened but I don’t want to break what we have. I value you and our friendship too much for me to let it go. I don’t think we can forget about last night but if it makes you feel better…I-I-“
“Can we talk about this outside? I don’t think it’s appropriate for us to talk about it here,” you chuckled. Leon nodded in agreement before leading you out to where a garden caught your attention. “Listen Leon, I know we can’t just pretend nothing happened but… I don’t wanna let go of this either. I value this as much as you do and it would be crazy stupid for me just to just hate you for something we weren’t even conscious about or something,” you said. You both laughed in relief as the weight on your shoulders dissipated into thin air before you placed a gentle palm on his cheek. Again, no words were shared but this time, no anxiety was present. Instead, you felt like this was an intimate moment only the two of you shared. Something was being written in the stars and you saw every word the gods wrote in the eyes of the person in front of you both.
As cheesy as it sounded, you two felt like magnets were pulling you towards each other, physically and mentally, and in a matter of seconds, you found your lips being pressed against Leon’s.
It was like you were recreating what happened last night without even knowing the details, except this was slower, more sensual, and certainly more emotional, and you couldn’t help the tears that flowed freely against your cheeks.
“Come on, let’s ditch Ashley. Maybe we could relive what happened last night?”
*****
Okay, so in my dream, Ashley’s not getting married and she didn’t call me. Instead, what happened was after the bar scene, Leon and I got teleported in front of the altar and just fucking talked. And then we walked outside and what happened in the end of this fic happened in my dream. Lol.
I rushed this bc I’m tired.

plum drop the essay on fuyu/peko and mondo/taka paralelles !!!! i am curious
ask and u shall recieve (inserting my first ever page break because holy FUCK this got long)
oke! I guess I’ll start off with Peko’s initial conception as a character, which was the main initial comparison danganronpa intended between Peko and Kiyotaka.
Tumblr media
I’ve noticed danganronpa has a tendency to re-use character tropes or roles after each game, tho their fates end up differently. For example, Chihiro was the smart, cute, and sweet character who ended up dying early on and had little significance outside of alter ego afterwards. Chiaki is the same, except if Danganronpa took Chihiro’s character and made her one of the main protagonists that has much more significance in the game.
The staff of SDR2 confirmed that they based Peko off of Kiyotaka, from their intense red eyes (which was intentional) + predominately b&w colorscheme, they both have swords, and their characters are tied to justice, though in different ways. Not to mention both are meant to be extremely disciplined, but ultimately struggle at socializing due to their rough backstories. But that’s where Peko’s ties to Taka as an initial concept end there, because the parallels between Peko/Taka and Fuyuhiko/Mondo are a whole ‘nother ballpark.
Before bringing that up though, we should note that while their designs are significantly different, Mondo and Fuyuhiko are extremely similar in terms of their backstory and personality (down to their ability to curse like a sailor). Both struggle with an inferiority complex (Fuyuhiko w/ how he isn’t taken seriously because of his babyface, Mondo w/ how his self esteem is really fragile and gets jealous of others when he acknowledges them to be stronger than him). Both act like tough, aggressive lone-wolfs (well, Mondo pre-sauna anyways), but have been stated to have a soft side, to the point they doubt their capabilities of being a tough leader because of it. They both even have a sibling they both believe would be a better leader than them (Daiya and Natsumi). BASICALLY fuyuhiko and mondo are the same role, being the intimidating gang leader that no one should fuck with, but in actuality has a lot of insecurities behind that facade.
Ok, ok, time to the ACTUAL relationship parallel analysis. We now know why Peko/Taka are meant to be parallels, and we can definintely make a solid claim for Fuyuhiko and Mondo. This isn’t new for Danganronpa, in their tendency to use patterns but give them a different twist depending on the game. Which is exactly what happened in  regards to chapter 2 of THH and SDR2, respectively.
The games’ chapter 1s are simple: meant to introduce the characters/game/stakes. Leon and Sayaka’s deaths were tragic, but the emotional impact of them wasn’t the main priority by the writers. Only to show that this was, indeed, a Killing Game where anyone’s possible to die. But chapter 2 of danganronpa is intended to be the chapter where you’re introduced to just how emotional and tragic the games can actually be, meant for maximum heartbreak (for both the characters and the player).
Chapter 2 of THH was where the different students’s relationships between each other became more solid. Sakura and Aoi were good friends. Toko’s obsession for Byakuya first solidified. Hifumi being Celeste’s servant, etc. Taka and Mondo’s fast developed friendship is no different. After the sauna, the two clicked so much that they believed calling each other just a friend wasn’t really accurate, and settled on calling each other brother instead. While they don’t have memories of their close friendship during Hope’s Peak at this time, it’s heavily implied that their closeness during that time made them subconsciously gravitate towards each other so fast, which could also be seen with Sakura and Aoi, and how Chihiro was able to find Makoto familiar during their introduction.
Peko and Fuyuhiko’s relationship could be considered to be just as close. The two grew up together, quite literally since they were kids. Like Taka and Mondo’s relationship pre-sauna, Fuyuhiko and Peko’s relationship was somewhat strained, though it’s more deeply rooted than two extremely contrasting guys clashing over their perceptions of each other. Fuyuhiko is extremely insecure in his place as the Kuzuruyuu clan’s head, and sees Peko’s desire to protect him and carry out his commands as an unwanted crutch that challenges his desire to be independent, as well as extremely worrying considering how because of this, Peko devalues her own life and worth as a person. Fuyuhiko very much loves Peko as a person, and as such tried to distance himself from her during their time on Jabberwock Island. Though unfortunately, Peko took this as him loathing her in general, further cementing her desire to be his “tool” because if he couldn’t stand being around her, she might as well make herself useful to him.
Now. Finally to get into the explicit parallels between the relationships of Kiyotaka/Mondo, and Peko/Fuyuhiko. Peko and Taka’s perspective on their relationships is a great starting point.
Each game’s chapter 2 shows just how willing both Taka and Peko are willing to go in order to protect Mondo and Fuyuhiko. Peko’s motive for killing Mahiru wasn’t to escape, but to in her eyes save Fuyuhiko from the Killing Game, by using herself as his tool to carry out muder, and have everyone incorrectly vote for her so Fuyuhiko could get away. She was his bodyguard in the truest sense of the word. Now in THH’s chapter 2, instead of fighting against Mondo in proving his guilt, you’re fighting Kiyotaka. He refuses any evidence you throw at him, arguing relentlessly to prove Mondo’s innocence, to the point the only reason he stopped was because Mondo told him to. And you later find out, in chapter 3, that Kiyotaka felt so determined to prove Mondo’s innocence was because he felt like it was his responsibility to, as he cared for Mondo so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, in a way, Taka considers himself Mondo’s bodyguard. Just without the years worth of reinforcement that you’re nothing but a tool to be used which makes you devalue your own worth as a person. (Not that his self esteem and willpower wasn’t ultimately crushed by Mondo’s execution, but that’s only because the circumstances he lost him was undenyingly brutal considering the Killing Game). While the circumstances of Peko’s desire to protect Fuyuhiko are really murky and problematic considering how she was raised, Danganronpa confirmed that she protected him so much because of her care for him, to the point she was willing to sacrifice her own life to assure that Fuyuhiko is safe. And Kiyotaka was willing to go to the exact same drastic measures, by voting for himself.
It’s also worth noting that in the stage play, he willingly accepted to be punished alongside him by doing this to make sure Mondo doesn’t die alone.
So from my own understanding, Super Danganronpa 2 took the tragedy of Mondo and Taka’s relationship, and flipped it so that while it still follows its signature use of repetitive patterns, they made the circumstances different, but just as heartbreaking. And how? Because they took the Taka of the relationship, and made Peko the culprit. It’s not the Mondo this time, which is who you’re supposed to expect to be the culprit, because of your expectation from THH’s trial 2.
Peko tried her best to protect Fuyuhiko, much like Kiyotaka tried to after he recognized the fact Mondo was the blackened. Both were, at the expense of their classmate’s and their own lives, were willing to protect them both, no matter what. Peko took a more active role in trying to do this however, which is what Kiyotaka severely regretted not doing, as stated in chapter 3.
And Fuyuhiko is what would have happened if Mondo was forced to face the consequences of his actions (in Fuyu’s case, being partially responsible for Mahiru’s death, in Mondo’s case, Chihiro’s). Instead of Taka arguing to prove Mondo’s innocence, it’s Fuyuhiko who’s doing that for Peko. A deliberate use of subverting the pattern given to us by THH’s chapter 2.
That’s the main takeaway, but I suppose I should also address the romantic parallels while I’m at it. I personally don’t like Kuzupeko as a romantic relationship, mainly because of how Peko’s self worth and personal value of herself as a person was as a direct result from being considered Fuyuhiko’s “tool” and their professional relationship as yakuza leader/henchman. Fuyuhiko does love her as a person, but that doesn’t negate the years of psychological degradation Peko endured to consider herself as a tool. Though in typical Danganronpa fashion, they choose to gloss over the problematic aspects of their relationship while heavily implying romantic subtext between them. So while I can’t say I’m a fan, I know the game/DR3 anime says otherwise.
And as for Ishimondo, I know some will disagree with me, but I definitely feel that their relationship is heavily lined with romantic subtext as well. Not much is really explicit in the game outside of Ishida and Hifumi’s romantic rivalry for alter ego (who Taka considers Mondo), but the mangas and posters definitely show their relationship that most would consider normal for couples.
But at the end of the day? Both Peko and Taka love Fuyuhiko and Mondo, whether or not you consider both, one, or none of their relationship to be romantic. They wouldn’t have put their own lives on the line if it was anything else. And it’s that emotional connection between Kiyotaka and Mondo, and Peko and Fuyuhiko that’s meant to give you an emotional punch in the gut for THH and SDR2’S chapter 2’s, because of how far the two were willing to protect them.

little things in v3 that make me appreciate the game slightly more (spoilers)
the fact that the two incest plotlines can directly be traced back to tsumugi, whose fantasy in her love hotel event deals with her and shuuichi being stepsiblings. the fact that brother-sister incest happens twice within this killing game (with korekiyo & miyadera, and monotaro & monophanie) could be just tsumugi trying to extend her incest fetish to the public.
tsumugi probably named monophanie that way because she knew that she wanted to make kaede the protagonist (at least for the first trial). monophanie sounds like monophony, a term in music that refers to a unified, completely homogenous sound, such as a single instrument in a piece, or every instrument playing the same exact melody.
tsumugi's place in the trial room is exactly where junko's was, right in front of monokuma. she wanted to copy junko's killing game so much that she wanted to take the role of being in her position.
because it's so ambiguous whether tsumugi ever says the truth at all during her entire confrontation, it's almost to the point where she doesn't even have her own identity, and tsumugi shirogane could just be another fictional character she made up for herself. she could have deliberately chosen to raise her voice and have blue hair to pay homage to sayaka, who technically started the killing game in the first place.
the monokubs all have different homages to various former contestants in the killing games. monokid is a guitar player like ibuki and has syo & junko's long tongue. monodam is a robot much like mechamaru, and his name could be a reference to gundam, while his attitude seems pretty similar to twogami's (wanting everyone to get along regardless of whether it's possible or not). monosuke has a gruff attitude similar to mondo, enjoys baseball like leon, and is associated with money like celes and togami. monophanie is sweet and shy but still obedient and cruel, like mikan and touko, and her color scheme brings monomi and chiaki to mind. monotaro has a scarf like gundam, uses throwing stars that bring to mind izayoi from dr3, and has a leadership quality to him like kiyotaka and twogami.
the monokubs have similar color schemes to the warriors of hope, with a few of them having similar traits to them. monotaro and masaru are both the "leaders" and hotheaded, and are orange-red. monophanie and kotoko are both submissive yet still scary, and are pink. monodam and monaca both control their friends and associates and become power hungry because of it, and are both green. monokid and nagisa don't have much at all in common, but are both blue. monosuke and jataro also don't have much in common, but are both associated with neutral tan colors.
tsumugi and the ultimate impostor both show up in this game, but tsumugi is impersonating them, which would probably be her dream -- she's essentially cosplaying a cosplayer who's cosplaying as someone with no identity.
tsumugi doesn't end up contributing a lot because she's an intern for team danganronpa -- she's not used to having a say in major decisions and big meetings, since she's low on the chain of employees.
you never actually see tsumugi's face in the shot of everyone after kaede's execution, probably because she was either smiling or just completely expressionless. she got away with murder by killing another person, and as such would probably be incredulous or ecstatic about the result of the first trial.
when kaede asks tsumugi about her favorite anime, she mentions hers, and her favorite episode of said anime is episode 53. she probably was lying here, and just said that number in a panic. she hadn't probably thought that far into her backstory as tsumugi.
tsumugi probably planned for shuuichi, maki, and himiko to still survive the school being destroyed, since she gave them some of the most emotional moments in the game, killing the people closest to them. shuuichi had the deaths of both kaede and kaito, maki had her breakdown after kaito's death, and himiko lost both angie and tenko within the same trial. it would make sense that she had planned for them to survive through the whole thing, even if kiibo kind of sidestepped her plan a bit.
at the end, before her execution, tsumugi seems actually pretty neutral about her plan failing, even saying that she's proud to have made a perfect copy of the original killing game's plan. this could mean that she intended for the entire thing to fall apart, bringing an audience surrogate, a masterful liar and criminal, and a gifted detective into the same season all together.
kaito's illness was either planned from the beginning, or implemented after tsumugi realized how close he and shuuichi had gotten, and how helpful kaito's been to him. kaede was an easier target because there was a believable reason to execute her in everyone else's eyes. kaito probably would have never killed if he hadn't been battling his illness, since he agrees to help ouma in chapter 5's plan knowing that his time is limited. tsumugi probably instilled a handicap on him, knowing that he was the most hopeful and optimistic of the characters besides kiibo, who she could easily manipulate since he was essentially just a standin for the audience itself.
the inclusion of the remnants of despair as a plot point for part of the game makes sense when tsumugi is revealed to have created the entire season. she's a huge fangirl and wanted to have a nod to the second game. it also would make sense as something that she would just randomly throw in as a means of fanservice to the audience.
the demo's whole gimmick of makoto, hajime, and hagakure being part of the game alongside the new characters is put in a new light after the reveal that the original games were just works of fiction in v3's universe. plus, it's implied that makoto and hajime are actors, which would make sense. technically speaking, everyone in v3 is an actor as well, and with tsumugi cosplaying as a bunch of previous characters in the final trial, chances are that the makoto and hajime actors aren't the original characters, merely portraying them.
tsumugi being the mastermind makes so much sense, and the theme of truth vs. lies makes sense in terms of her constant denial that fiction can't influence reality. as a big fan of danganronpa before becoming part of the games themselves, she's more than likely well aware of the effects that fiction can have on real life, and probably agrees with shuuichi deep down.
the parallels between tsumugi and junko are interesting, but the ways in which they die are the most. they're both crushed to death, and while junko's smiling the entire time (save for the very end, when the crusher stops momentarily, allowing her a bit of confusion as to why it isn't working before she dies), tsumugi is just blank the entire time. it goes to show how even though she got to live her dream and become her idol, she just didn't have the same dedication and devotion to the cause that junko did.
also, kokichi and tsumugi are both crushed, and both were suspected of being the masterminds, also being the representatives of two criminal groups. they're very good antitheses to one another when you start to compare and contrast the two.
i could keep going but honestly we'd be here for a while

A thing I seen around the fandom is that Mitch seems to be a pretty controversial character, thanks for that scene in the first chapter when he tries to ask Akane for a sexual favor before "Yuuki" arrives.
Also, I found funny how, even if he's REALLY based in Leon, him and Mitch have pretty opposite opinions on their talents (Leon doesn't likes baseball, only playing it because of the attention and money he gets, because he wants to be a rockstar, while Mitch hates any sport that's not soccer)
Anon: asks this ask
The chapter 1 narrative analysis that lives rent free on my head: *crawls out of procrastination hole*)
Me, sweating and swatting it, feeling my procastination sins crawl up on my back, with the broom: *whistles* anyways
Yeah! I have seen it too.
Yeah! There is a lot of parallels (or I suppose call backs?) in both chapters 1 of both Another games! (motive kill + blackened sports talent guy / blackedned basing his killer plan/alibi around a party)
Mitsuhiro(and Kiyoka) does a really cool call back /and/ inversion of Leon (and Sayaka) while keeping enough similarities and differences to keep it unique. Furthermore, Mitsuhiro (and Kiyoka) and both of their roles also serve as an way to further and prepare the secondary conflict that is revealed in the trial, that is, Kinjo’s ideals and beginning of his character arc.
While Leon stopped liking baseball, wants to strike out on his own (rockstar), what makes him break into murder is someone trying to murder him, meanwhile Mitsuhiro loves football, makes it so it is a heavy aspect of his live, and feels completely comfortable in his future, to the point where what breaks him, is FIFA being in possible danger.
Leon trying to break free from his ultimade role, while Mitsuhiro fully embraces his, is a really cool and interesting contrast between them.
Another point, I would say is that Mitsuhiro, when thinking, ends up being more cunning than Leon (ie, he prepares his murder plan with a very calculative view -> sets up all the pieces of the murder beforehand, plans to kill Kinjo, on the correct assumption that since he is a policeman and deals with crime, he would be one of the biggest dangers to a blackened and capable of investigating well)
And yet, they have enough similarities too! Both are stubborn, impulsive, have strong passions, cocky have a talent centered around sports, have the “jocks” vibes and… are pretty good with improvisation, in that both of them come up with a good misdirection murder plan upon an unexpected event happening. Once Leon discovers Sayaka tried to kill him, he is able to overpower, hide most of his evidences and make use of Sayaka previous set up. Meanwhile, once Kiyoka, not Kinjo, appears, Mitsuhiro kills her and adapts his plan to involve the girl bathroom and throw suspicion on all the girls and supposedly throw off the suspicion on all the guys.
So yes! Big agree that the way both Leon and Mitsuhiro contrast each other /and/ are similar to each other is very interesting. And I also enjoy the way that Mitsuhiro's trial, besides kick starting the killing game like Leon's, adds to the narrative a good stage to kick start of a secondary conflict
edit: changing to here below bc otherwise gee did that break the flow of the ask huh
me unable to control myself: anyways... snippet/hella summary draft
(It always puzzled me at first, the way this trial is far less "gray" than the following 3 ones and stood in contrast to it. Then, it clicked and i realized that having a "known by the audience" "jerk/rude" (here comes the scene you mentioned) killing an double-"innocent", for a less gray motive, set a pretty good stage for Kinjo to introduce his ideology, and left the audience on their toes on how Kinjo would deal with grey-er circunstances, and a good deal of space for the shock/betrayal to settle when Kinjo reveals how hard he goes on his black and white view and steadly double downs on it when confronted, and makes it more rewarding when his arc "concludes" and he realises that yeah, it is fucked up, and yeah the mastermind/killing game had manipulated/broken them all into murder, and thinking on bad criminals and good innocents, is a way too narrow view)

Cardfight!! Vanguard Extra Story IF 14 things
links lead to images posted on discord because this post is already far too absurdly long, have too many thoughts, what a rollercoaster ride this was
Shuka’s opening a gateway into the past beneath herself and Emi indicted Link Joker Gate flashbacks because of its appearance
If it wasn’t demonstrated prior to this episode, it’s apparent how Aichi is far more malicious than any incarnation of past (i.e. his soldiers ready to maim or straight up murder Emi and Shuka , having Kai-kun abducted; whether either was 100% intended to occur the way they did is anyone’s guess)
Miwa as a Sanctuary Knight: there’s two points to this          — it’s an astonishing turn as he was part of the Mates during Legion Mate — the season which many people have acknowledged the parallels to — but working beneath Aichi turns that on its head as well as the implication that Aichi’s force was concentrated around the Miyaji Cardfight Club, as well as giving a fifth member to his faction in similar vein to Kourin of Legion Mate.         — it splits up the Kai/Miwa/Ibuki trio down the same lines as Ultra Rare; Suiko and Ibuki being firmly aligned with Emi while Kourin and Miwa fall under Aichi’s command. Rekka and Kai-kun would serve as unaccounted for, though it’s more clear-cut in his case, as Rekka made her appearance and her allegiance known at the same time as Kourin entered the fray, as well as already fighting on the side of restoring the timeline to its proper state before Suiko was pulled into activity.         — and it was foreshadowed right before our eyes when they announced IF 14 would be centred around Kai-kun.
"Whenever I hear the name "Toshiki Kai”, for some reason, I get chills”. It’s a strange statement with his behaviour later in the episode, seeming to recognize and feign friendliness with Ibuki and Kai-kun. The only possibility can think of for this line is Miwa, like Aichi and Emi (and the rest of the Sanctuary Knights), is his Outside World self pulled into IF World and his memories tampered with, he might be privy enough to his relationship with the other two for the sake of his act when meeting with them.
Kai-kun hugging Ibuki with no restraint. Rena down. Fuck that’s so soft.
9 years of being dead or arseholes who abandoned their child, we get Mama and Papa and the whole family is adorable! Mama Kai and Shizuka would get along so well, they’re two peas in a pod aaaaa        — Toshi also pointed how out the Kai family love of curry persists to this day and god bless.
me last night on call with Courtney: “There has to be a reason why Aichi hates Vanguard specifically just because of not meeting Kai-kun. It wouldn’t be any more significant than literally anything else. Hey, Aichi, why not hate rock music instead or something?” Kai-kun’s room: this kid loves rock, how dare you
Said room also makes it feel like the show is saying Vanguard/Aichi ruined Kai-kun’s life as opposed to, you know, his parents abandoning him. Bushi no—
It took just his name. That was it.
The static within the audio around Aichi is a neat touch when there feels to be a theme of glitching in the ED and it isn’t as though either reality is “wrong”, just distorted.
Just how they go about instilling memories of Aichi in comparison to Legion Mate is fascinating. In Legion Mate, the Mates were able to cleanly remember as their fights progressed and able to accept that Aichi existed prior to the season; we don’t know the extent of the changes to their lives as a result of his disappearance, but here is a different story. Kai-kun’s entire life has been altered as a result of the distortion and he isn’t able to simply see Aichi in his memories and realize that someone is missing from his past, and it takes a toll on him for these conflicting memories from another life to present themselves to him.
One has to wonder what Shizuka is going through in regards to Aichi vanishing, but also what Kai-kun’s parents must think if they were to investigate the commotion coming from his room suddenly to see him and everyone else gone and the disarray left from just how they left.
IF being the seemingly most lighthearted season with the darkest cliffhanger (topping even Link Joker and Legion Mate, because nothing comes to mind that could honestly match this), even if we know they would never dare kill off Kai-kun but the insinuation for the characters that he could be dead is chilling, particularly when they consist of his childhood friends, young girls and the root being a boy seeking him out, whose intentions around it we don't know and whom we've seen destablize (albeit in another continuity) when it comes to Kai-kun, so imagine the ramification and what it could do to his state of mind (or Ibuki, Miwa, Emi and Shuka’s, for that matter)  if they really did play with the idea of killing him off.
Horizontal Oath
God bless this ED, it’s so good
There’s a lot in here about the clashing realities around Kai-kun and it’s nice to know the season isn’t overlooking the incredibly weighted implications of putting him in this position.
The fire spurning to life, while a nice nod to his usual choice of Kagero an its absence in his current life, could also be representative that, while he has many hobbies in his IF life, Vanguard is where his passion truly lies above all, as he grips it and contemplates the people who should be around him.
Emi, Ibuki and Miwa occupying the same spots in the frames they exist in is a neat choice.
Kai rushing towards the light/Blaster Blade only for the card to vanish as his fingers nears it screams of midpoint Legion Mate where the Mates finally got a glimpse of Aichi, to hear his own request that they give up. As the preview shows them in the same location, it’s possible 15 will serve as the first, failed attempt to bring Aichi back to his senses and force the group to pick themselves up and try again in the same way the Leon episodes served in Legion Mate, signified by the repeated animation usage when Kai-kun runs towards Blaster Blade a second time.
The price Kai-kun is going to pay is not being overlooked. To restore the timeline, it’s apparent that he’ll have to sacrifice his IF life and parents, inflicting unto him the anguish of his original Manga/Reboot continuity life and the hardships that came with it  The darkness that emanates from his younger self and the glimpses of that original life as he kneels demonstrates that, while he might accept that outcome, it’s not about to be an easy task, understandable.       — Initially had suspected from the preview for 14 that this issue might be raised with him and he would reject erasing everything he knows and have to be brought around to the idea, but the ED actually refutes this, as he faces everything head-on.       — In doing so, it speaks to his character and the strength to allow this incredibly high price, as by relinquishing everything he knows, he’s able to regain the friends he made through Vanguard even with the knowledge of the pain and strife that he’ll endure and allow Emi to have her family back, even at the cost of his own.       — Additionally, as the shot closes in on him and he yells/roars, it appears he could be in pain from having to surrender this version of himself and his life; but ultimately does so as he fades while Dragonic Overlord becomes the more dominant face, signifying his reclaiming his Vanguard and his original life.
This resolve to allow the timeline to be returned to its rightful state also comes through beneath the starry sky that corrects itself, with Kai-kun standing at the back of Emi’s group, the only one of them fated to disappear by setting things right. Though the camera continues on past him, towards the light that grows brighter and consumes everything — perhaps a symbol of the corrected timeline taking hold — he doesn’t so much as glance back, but looks ahead to the sky, even with the reality that he and his world will be no more.
[2012 Fanguard voice] Bench-chan lives on.
Numerous people in YouTube comments remarked that Horizontal Oath amplifies the Legion Mate atmosphere and its emphasis on Kai-kun whilst doing so is notable. As that was his journey to bring Aichi back and the current is Emi’s, the shift in tone with this new ED and new arc incorporating him heavily is a nice reflection of that when the OP remains the same.      — There is an implication, though, that Emi might start to fall back from the protagonist role, as she appears far more passive in the ED while Kai-kun stands front and centre. When the two of them and Shuka are standing in a field, Emi’s feet are surrounded by shade, and when looking to the sun, she stands on the edge of the formation, seeming far more distant. At the same time, Shuka is on the other side, both of the group as a whole and Kai-kun specifically, with her back to the others. Her guilt has been an enormous factor since the truth of her actions came to light and how they weigh on her, but this feels as though her attention shifting away from Emi and towards Kai-kun as a means of atoning for her mistake.     — Going to be hopeful that they can balance what Aichi means to Emi and Kai-kun in similar vein to Kai-kun and Naoki of Legion Mate, so that they both share an equal part in the fight going forward.
IF 15
Thank goodness, we’re getting answers about Aichi, Takuto and the Sanctuary Knights, let’s go.
Aichi pointing a sword at Ibuki and (Kourin) opening up a fissure beneath the both of them — and right in front of Kai-kun — is a stark contrast to the Aichi(s) we’ve known until now, as how he was seen by Kai-kun was something of great importance to him, but depending on the context of the scene, it’s apparent that this version of him gives no fucks about anything of the sort.
Something that’s been on my mind within the last week is that, aside from the scene in the forest when he was acting seemingly normal, Aichi’s right eye is never detailed beneath his visor, or even when he overrode Majesty Lord (typically, his hair doesn’t completely conceal his eye while in a unit). The theories that came to mind were heterochromia, like Voidkuto, a permanent Psyqualia glow or it’s completely blank in typical possession/brainwashed fashion (or some sort of visual cue pertaining to the fact that a great deal is off about him) but by putting on the airs of normality, he was able to mask it as a normal eye when meeting with Shuka.

So for a while I’ve had this headcanon that certain members of the Bureau of Balance correspond to the Seven Birds, whether just for literary purposes or for in-universe Lucretia missing her friends and surrounding herself with people who remind her of them. Some are fairly self-explanatory, Magic Brian and Taako, Leon and Davenport, Killian and Avi and Magnus, and some require a bit more digging like Lucas and Barry, two scientists who are passionate and willing to do anything for family, and Robbie and Merle, both laid back and seemingly stuck in their own world but ultimately they have their passions and are good at them. However, there was one wrinkle in this theory and that is for the life of me, I could never find Lup. That is, until my last relisten.
Lup is undeniably a very unique character. To quote her own breakdown of her character, she has “definitely some lust, some gluttony probably, pride for sure, hella wrath” but is also “pretty on her grind”. She’s emotional, full of anger over her situation, full of dissatisfaction with her situation and desire to be more than she is, but she’s also incredibly talented. She’s in canon a prodigy in her field and she only grows in power during The Stolen Century. She does everything she can to try and save her and her friends from this cycle of death and living, but in the end she regrets what she’s done and even dies trying to fix it. And on the surface, it’s hard to parallel that to anything until you find another character who is full of emotions, full of potential and talent, but also feels trapped. Sound familiar?
Lup’s BOB parallel is Johann. For starters, they’re both insanely talented, “the best violinist basically ever” and the one who “did this world already and kind of crushed it”. However, both of them take seemingly ambitious projects on and end up trapped, unable to move forward in life and frustrated. And then, their arcs become direct contrasts. Lup uses her power to create something and puts it out in the world and is stricken by the destruction and harm it causes everyone and tries to hide it away. Johann creates something that is destroyed and forgotten and can never be recognized and regrets not being able to share it with others. Lup lives clinging first to Taako and then to the rest of the Seven, terrified of losing the only people she has, and Johann lives in obscurity terrified of not being remembered for his work and forgotten.
To quote @tazdelightful (who graciously listened to my rambling), “Lup and Johann are the forgotten”. Johann lives forgotten by the world and Lup dies forgotten by her friends. However, in the end, Lup returns to life and becomes remembered by those who matter the most to her, and Johann dies and in doing so his memory and songs are spread to the entire world and everyone around. Their character arcs compliment and contrast to one another, and they are both The Forgotten and in the end, The Remembered.

For my own amusement, I started tracking how the songs from the Billboard Hot 100 from this week in 1974 have been used in movie soundtracks. Feature Films only people! As you read, you will see the “gimmes” that made me think of the idea, but I’m putting this behind a cut because there ended up being so many which had a soundtrack match. As a reminder, you can follow along as I do the Hot 100 each week corresponding to which classic AT40 and VJ Big 40 get played on SiriusXM ‘70s on 7 and ‘80s on 8 respectively with my ever-changing Spotify playlist.
100. “Beyond the Blue Horizon” - Lou Christie. This one is a cheat because when I looked it up on Spotify it showed up on the Rain Man soundtrack. The only song I could have told you off the top of my head was in Rain Main is the Belle Stars’ version of “Iko Iko.” Rain Man marked the first soundtrack appearance for Christie’s version.
98. “The Air That I Breathe” - The Hollies. Very memorable appearance in The Virgin Suicides, which had the score done by, wait for it, French electronica duo Air. The song would go on to be heard in other movies.
90. “Billy Don’t Be a Hero” - Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods. The Paper Lace version appears in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Both acts topped the charts with the song on opposite sides of the pond: Paper Lace in the UK and Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods in the US. [Update: the BD&H version may be in "To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday"]
87. “Hollywood Swinging” - Kool & the Gang. This oft-sampled track first appeared in a feature film in the 2005 Get Shorty sequel Be Cool.
84. “La Grange” - ZZ Top. Armageddon first, followed by others.
68. “Band on the Run” - Paul McCartney and Wings.  I didn’t search for this at first because I didn’t think there would be anything, but then Jet was on the chart at #27, so I did a twofer search on imdb. Jet has not been in any films (save “One Hand Clapping, a rockumentary on Paul, which I don’t count for purposes of this discussion) but “Band on the Run” appears in The Killing Fields, in a shocking scene that contrasts the light tone of the pop song with the horrors of the Khmer Rouge’s executions of Cambodian citizens.
66. “For the Love of Money” - The O’Jays. Has been used many times, according to IMDb the first feature film use was the Richard Pryor roman a clef (if I’m using that right, I only know it from Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man) Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling.
59. “Rock Around the Clock” - Bill Haley and his Comets. Notably used in Blackboard Jungle, the song is on this 1974 chart for its appearance in American Graffiti.
55. “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo” - Rick Derringer. First one that comes to mind is Dazed and Confused bc I had that soundtrack, but it has been in others.
49. “Love’s Theme” - the Love Unlimited Orchestra. The swirling strings of this song indicate that someone is indeed falling in love. That’s my way of saying, if you think you haven’t heard this, you have. Imdb has it in Mean Girls, among others.
47. “The Way We Were” - Barbra Streisand. The titular song of the 1973 film The Way We Were, starring Barbra and Robert Redford. A little long, but worth a watch bc Barbra is amazing in it. At the 1974 Academy Awards, Marvin Hamslich won Best Original Song honors for this tune, and was awarded Best Original Dramatic Score for his other musical work on the film. I always think of Lisa Loopner’s big crush on him.
44. “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing” - Stevie Wonder. First feature film usage was the 1998 Eddie Murphy flop Holy Man, which surprised me as it’s such a good song, you’d think it would have been in something earlier. Notable given Eddie’s impression of Stevie Wonder he performed on SNL!
42. “Rock On” - David Essex. Michael Damian’s cover (or remix as described by Patton Oswalt) was recorded for the 1989 2 Coreys classic Dream a Little Dream, and per imdb, David Essex’s original appears in the alternate-history comedy Dick, from 1999.
37. “Oh Very Young” - Cat Stevens/Yusef Islam. Surprisingly, this sweet song appears in the gross-out bowling comedy Kingpin.
36. “Jungle Boogie” - Kool & the Gang. This song may have been used in the most films and tv shows of any I’ve researched so far, but its first appearance was in Pulp Fiction.
34. “The Payback - Part 1” - James Brown. First feature film appearance was in 1995′s Dead Presidents. A different James Brown track appears on the soundtrack for racist-ass Melly Gibson’s Payback from 1999.
33. “Help Me” - Joni Mitchell.  Another why’d-it-take-ya-so-long shocker, this mellow tune first appeared in the 2018 sci-fi movie Kin, narrowly beating Welcome to Marwen from 2019.
31. “The Entertainer” - Marvin Hamlisch. The title theme from the Redford/Newman team-up The Sting. Hamlisch won a record-tying third Academy Award in 1974 for Best Original Score for The Sting.  It seems at this time Best Original Score and Best Original Dramatic Score were separate categories. Hamlisch would win Grammys for both this and “The Way We Were,” eventually becoming an EGOT winner in 1995.
30. “Eres Tú” - Mocedades. This Spanish Eurovision entry notably appears in the buddy comedy Tommy Boy when Chris Farley and David Spade’s characters sing along with the radio.
28. “Midnight at the Oasis” - Maria Muldaur. Catherine O’Hara and Fred Willard perform their own rendition in the Christopher Guest film Waiting for Guffman. That should be all you need, but imdb has the first film appearance for the song as 1995′s Falcon and the Snowman.
24. “Let it Ride” - Bachman-Turner Overdrive. This lesser-known but not less great BTO jam has appeared in a handful of films, the first being Ash Wednesday, starring Elijah Wood and directed by Edward Burns and not Garry Marshall. Note: it does not seem to be in the Richard Dreyfuss gambling movie Let It Ride, a classic VHS cover of my youth.
18. “Mockingbird” - James Taylor and Carly Simon. Memorably performed by Harry and Lloyd in the dog van in Dumb and Dumber, later joined by a Latinx family on guitar and vocals.  Before that, Beverly D’Angelo and Chevy Chase’s characters also sang it on their road trip in National Lampoon’s Vacation. I couldn’t find an instance where James and Carly’s version played in a movie but I am sayin’ there’s a chance. That it could be someday.
16. “Tubular Bells” - Mike Oldfield. This instrumental is best known for being the theme to The Exorcist, but I was surprised to learn from the Wiki entry that it was not written for the film. Tubular Bells or something that’s meant to sound like it has been in a ton of other things, generally uncredited. Of note: Mike Oldfield would go on to do the score for The Killing Fields.
14. “Seasons in the Sun” - Terry Jacks. Now here is the type of song that ‘70s haters point to as an example of the whiny wuss rock that they feel over-dominated the era. It’s not one of my favorites but I appreciate it for how weird it is. I suppose being translated into English from a French/Belgian poem will do that to ya. Before I did my search, I imagined I would find it in a Farrelly Brothers movie or two, possibly the Anchorman sequel. However, the only feature film match I found was the 2002 indie flick Cherish, a movie I have never seen despite being confronted by the cover many times at rental places over the years. Before today, when I watched the trailer, I would have told you it starred Jennifer Love Hewitt and was about “a band trying to make it.” It turns out I am thinking of the 1999 film The Suburbans. Anyway Cherish seems aggressively indie and very of-its-time in a way that makes me want to watch it.
13. “Dancing Machine” - The Jackson 5. The song appears in the Blaxploitation spoof I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, as well as the movie of Starsky & Hutch.
11. “Lookin’ For A Love” - Bobby Womack. This was in the movie of The Ladies Man starring Tim Meadows as his SNL character Leon Phelps. I almost skipped this one but I’m glad I didn’t because Tim Meadows rules.
8. “The Loco-Motion” - Grand Funk Railroad (the single and album it was on are credited to Grand Funk). We have our second song from the Kirsten Dunst/Michelle Williams movie Dick. Since that was satirizing Nixon and Watergate, well done to the filmmakers for including these 1974 hits!  It appeared in one earlier film, My Girl 2.
5. “Come and Get Your Love” - Redbone. Known to modern listeners for appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy. [Sidebar: if you can find a way to listen to the With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus episode T.G.I.G.O.T.G.OST (Thank God It’s the Guardians of the Galaxy Original Soundtrack) with Sean Clements and Hayes Davenport, do it!] The song first appeared in Dance Me Outside, a Canadian film about First Nations youth, which is a cool parallel with Redbone being composed of Native American musicians. “Come and Get Your Love” is also in Dick!
4. “Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me” - Gladys Knight & the Pips. Another SNL feature pops up on our list, 1994′s It’s Pat: The Movie.
3. “Hooked on a Feeling” - Blue Swede. ALSO known to modern listeners as being from the GOTG, but possibly only in the trailer? I’m fuzzy. The song ALSO also appears in Dick, and its first feature film appearance was Reservoir Dogs.
2. “Bennie and the Jets” - Elton John. You know it, you love it, you cackle at the gag in Mystery Team. IMDb has this song down as first appearing in the low budget feature Aloha, Bobby and Rose, from 1975. It is ALSO in My Girl 2, with proper credit for Sir Elton.
1. “TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)” - MFSB featuring The Three Degrees. IMDb says this appeared in the Al Pacino film Carlito’s Way, and I have no reason to doubt them because it means we are done! Thanks for readin’ and rockin’ along.

Danganronpa: Parallels Between Class Trials 1 and 5
I’m sure someone far more familiar with Danganronpa has made this observation and has articulated it better, but a certain set of events I’ve noticed in the first game seem to mirror each other. Namely, class trials one and five: the ones where Makoto Naegi is attempted to be framed.
For starters, there’s who the framer is in each situation. For the first trial, Sayaka Maizono is the one who attempted to frame Makoto, even if it went wrong and she died. In the fifth, it’s Kyoko Kirigiri attempting to frame him even if neither actually committed the murder.
It’s interesting that in both instances, the person attempting to frame Makoto is the person he’s closest with at the time, to the point where romantic feelings are implied at some point. Sayaka and Makoto immediately grew close before she was killed, and we see Makoto and Kyoko both grow closer throughout the game, even if the latter tries not to reveal too much about herself.
As we all know, things went very differently for the both of them. Sayaka was hesitant and instead ended up killed by Leon, but since she planned everything Makoto was still framed for her murder and he had to prove everyone otherwise. Kyoko doesn’t die obviously, but actually succeeds even though the position she was placed in was more a matter of circumstance: Makoto purely happened to be the most likely person besides her (even if neither actually committed this murder that wasn’t even new), so she had to make him seem suspicious to survive.
Their motives also actually have a rather interesting contrast. Sayaka was purely scared as anyone reasonably would be, and after seeing the video of her pop group disbanded she felt like she needed to get out at any cost. Including framing the person she is closest to at Hope’s Peak. Basically, there was a more selfish element to her reasoning, even if there was a bit that seemed to be motivated by the people who were basically her best friends breaking up and likely in terrible conditions now.
Kyoko on the other hand is someone determined to uncover the mystery of Hope’s Peak and stop the mastermind. Instead of being driven by fear and despair, she’s being pragmatic. Pragmatic to the point where if someone has to die so that the truth can be uncovered (and therefore, everyone else can stop suffering and this evil can be defeated), she will pursue that path. Sayaka was driven by her intense emotions, Kyoko was putting them aside to pursue what was she viewed as important for everyone as a whole at the time.
Even if her motives are obviously more selfless here, there is still a selfish bent akin to how Sayaka has a slight selfless one: she believes she needs to be alive for the mysteries of Hope Peak to be unraveled. It is somewhat arrogant on her part, yes, but the curious thing is... she’s actually right. In the bad ending where she’s killed instead of Makoto, we see that everyone lives in Hope’s Peak for the rest of their lives and pretty much just accepts it.
Thing is, Makoto needed to survive too. We see this in the climax of the game where he’s necessary to keep hope alive in everyone as Junko reveals the truth about the outside world to them, which honestly would be despair inducing in anyone. When Makoto was sent to be executed and she wasn’t, it not only became clear to her that trial five was indeed set up, but that the Mastermind saw Makoto as a threat too. She recognised she was one piece of the puzzle, but even if she was aware of Makoto’s ideals and optimism, here is when it actually hit her that he was the other piece they needed to get out.
I also think there’s a curious element of hesitation and regret with both of these trials. With Sayaka, she was driven to get out to the point of betraying the person she grew closest to, but I do agree with the idea that she was conflicted about her decision. I mean, Kyoko believes her hesitation is actually what caused her plan to fail and end up with her killed. She didn’t want to frame Makoto and end up with him dead, but she put her survival first. When she was killed by Leon, she very well could’ve spelt out his name as an act of revenge, but obviously doing so would save Makoto and the others. She probably did regret attempting murder in the end, especially after Makoto promised he’d find a way for them to get out together.
With Kyoko, it might not make itself apparent until after Makoto’s attempted execution, but I really doubt she was okay with putting the one person who believed in her, someone who had actually managed to befriend her, under the bus the way she did.
All their interactions before this trial suggested that Kyoko was genuinely warming up to Makoto - I mean, she was pretty clearly upset at him not discussing the possibility of Sakura Ogami being a mole less about the idea that he knew something that she didn’t, but that he offered trust and when having a chance to prove it goes both ways he blows it. Basically, she allowed to open herself up only to feel betrayed. She was upset because she was beginning to see Makoto as a friend and was warming up to him.
She goes back to being her usual more distant self after that brief falling out, but they still spent all this time together and got to know each other. When the fifth trial came, she knew that she may have had to make sacrifices, and of course was able to put any feelings aside to achieve that. She was quite clearly lying to frame Makoto, but she did what she had to for her survival. Thing is... she may be pragmatic enough to achieve this, but deep down I bet she was pretty upset at what she may have had to do to survive.
This all culminates in Makoto’s attempted execution. This is when she realises her mistake of putting her survival (and in her eyes, what’s necessary to uncover the school’s mysteries) first. She may have thrown a wrench into the Mastermind’s game, but this was still a friend she was risking for it all. Sure, she does admit she can’t solve the mysteries of the school alone, but that’s not there all there is to it: Makoto is a friend, possibly her only friend at this point. One she literally just saved from being the actual murder the trial would focus on. The regret is strong enough for her to literally go into a garbage dump to find and rescue Makoto. Not only that, but she’s actually trying to look out for his wellbeing since she brings food and water, and actually is willing top open up about her past to show she’s more trustworthy.
I think there’s also a mirror in regards to trust. With Sayaka, regardless of how conflicted she was with carrying out her plan, she still took advantage of Makoto’s trust in her. A big thing in the first trial was Makoto realising that he needed to put aside his preconceptions to actually face the truth: that Sayaka was attempting to frame him. Here, Makoto was too willing to trust her, and that easily could’ve been his downfall.
With the fifth trial however, Kyoko is quite obviously lying to frame Makoto, and Makoto specifically spots a lie that only he could know in regards to the Monokuma key that can open any door. This is quite clearly a betrayal, but Makoto chooses to trust Kyoko regardless. Why? Well, I mean he wasn’t declared the Ultimate Hope in the game’s climax for nothing.
Instead of a more oblivious trust he placed in Sayaka based more on a small shared past and mutual romantic attraction, the trust he placed in Kyoko was one that proved to work out with experience. Instead of trusting Sayaka because of the relationship they had, the experiences Makoto and Kyoko shared and their working together ended up helping form their very relationship.
I tie this to the Ultimate Hope thing because as Makoto’s optimism is his big thing, he chose to have hope that Kyoko had ulterior motives since they both realised the fifth trial was rigged. He could’ve continued insisting he wasn’t guilty, but he took a massive risk that could’ve ended his own life because he believed Kyoko had a plan as she usually does. And of course, experiencing each other’s methods over the game ended up forming their friendship, and that caused Makoto to trust her not only as someone he worked with, but as a friend.
Makoto’s trust in Kyoko ended up being a gamble that worked because even though neither knew it and this was indeed a massive risk, Makoto was saved by Alter Ego. Here, Makoto’s luck, and more importantly hope, really did win out. Of course, as discussed Kyoko didn’t realise Makoto actually would make it out and really was putting his life on the line, but he still trusted her enough to take what was the biggest risk of his life at that point.
Some smaller things too:
I also noticed that preceding both trials, there is some pretty significant stuff that happens where stuff happens with both Sayaka and Kyoko that is quite concerning and gets Makoto worried: Sayaka has her freak out and goes into panic mode, while Kyoko disappears until the trial actually gets started (though in the anime she actually shows up for the investigation, even if Makoto’s worrying is still there).
Before both murders are discovered, there is a major incident where both Sayaka and Kyoko come to Makoto’s room. Sayaka comes because she claims to be scared of someone breaking into her room, while Kyoko comes over as Makoto is sleeping to save him from being killed by the Mastermind.
This is probably the wildest stretch of them all, but in the events leading up to both of these cases, there is a rather... lewd reference to their potential romantic development in both cases. With Sayaka, it’s the suggestion to sleep in Makoto’s bed, which prompts a brief moment of shock because of the sexual connotations of this act in most cases elsewhere. With Kyoko, it’s when Makoto is diverting Monokuma’s attention, and Monokuma asks what they’re doing in the bathroom, claiming it must be something dirty.
I’m not exactly sure where this is going, but I think this is interesting to look at. I guess if anything, these situations kind of mirror each other as a way to show how both characters Makoto grows close to and their respective relationships with him end up comparing and contrasting? Something like that, if anyone can articulate something better then go ahead.

Another similarity between Leon and Hector is that they both lost the woman they loved and fell into a spiral of revenge against the culprit (Leon's was so strong it lasted through his entire lineage), funny enough Hector could have been the same had he not had Julia to pull him out of that pit...and that's kinda interesting to me, because normally with this type of parallel it's usually someone like Leon who would have someone to pull him out of that mindset and Hector would be the one to fall all the way through, interesting stuff.
(tbf, the ask was about Juste and Leon, and Juste and Hector, not Leon and Hector lol)
I still believe the two were at least partially designed to contrast each other. Plus, Juste and Leon both had to save their loved one, Leon and Hector lost their loved one and grappled with their feelings of revenge... basically Leon deserved far better than what he got ;A;
(Leon 🤝 Isaac: losing literally everything they cared about in the span of one night. God felt really funny with them)
Revenge and how you react to loss seems to be a persistent theme in CV, at least in IGA games. You have Mathias/Dracula and Isaac who went insane and fell head first in the worst coping mechanisms known to man (and even then, how much it was Isaac's fault is partially debatable due to the Curse); you have Leon who rejects Mathias' offer of walking the same path in honor of Sara (he knew that by accetting immortality he would have suffered for eternity, something Mathias learned the hard way) but still indirectly doomed his whole lineage to carry out his desire for revenge for a full millennia; you have Hector who got so close to pulling a Dracula, and even then 1) he only focused on one person, not God or the entire mankind even though he also lose Rosaly through a mob and he could have blamed humanity, and 2) he snapped out of it at the last possible moment, thanks to Julia's influence - he actually considered that Rosaly wouldn't have wanted to see him like this, unlike Mathias :)
Something to ponder about, for sure.

The Amazing Race has a lot to offer to its viewers. For instance, it features a cast of intriguing contestants and has well-thought-out challenges distributed throughout its runtime. But more than anything else, it is the show's cultural outlook and portrayal of the world that appeals to most viewers. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the incredible landscapes of Africa, the reality TV series takes viewers through it all.

Many documentaries have a similar travel-centric narrative where real people embark on memorable journeys and overcome several challenges along the way. These documentaries not only serve as a medium of escapism for viewers but also educate and inspire viewers to explore the world around them. Whatever one's reason may be to watch them, the list below might come in handy.
10 Expedition Happiness (Netflix)
Tumblr media
Expedition Happiness begins with a DIY project where a couple converts an old school bus into a full-fledged caravan. Using the same mobile home, the two then set out on a journey across North America with their dog. Although replete with scenic landscapes, their journey isn't bereft of obstacles.
Instead of unfolding as a journey that's leading up to a fixed destination, Expedition Happiness proves to be a rite of passage narrative for both the viewers and the leading couple. It may not be for everyone, but for those looking for a travelogue-styled documentary, this one fits the bill.
9 180° South (Hoopla/Amazon Prime)
Tumblr media
In 1968, Yvon Chouinard, Doug Tompkins, and their friends started a trek along the Pan American Highway and went all the way up to a mountain peak in Corcovado. While they were at it, they captured their adventures on film. Inspired by them, climber/surfer Jeff Johnson treads a similar path in 180° South and follows their footsteps, hoping to find his own purpose.

In all of its extreme adventures and high-risk mountain climbing, there's an undertone of eco-themes that most viewers will resonate with. This film touches on the perils of commercial fishing and the negative impact of infrastructure but also inspires viewers to travel, find their own adventures, and seek sustainable means of living.
8 Living On One Dollar (Amazon Prime/Vudu)
Tumblr media
As the title suggests, Living on One Dollar highlights the 8-week journey of four friends who try to sustain themselves on just $1 a day in rural Guatemala. But the documentary is a lot more than its conceptual hook.
Instead of solely walking viewers through the adventures of its four primary hosts, it offers a deep look at the lives of the people with whom the travelers have come to live. It goes above and beyond to capture an in-depth look at the life and culture of the people, presenting ideas and images that stay with viewers long after the credits start rolling.
7 The Kindness Diaries (Netflix/Amazon Prime)
Tumblr media
In The Amazing Race, contestants have to throw their caution to the wind and seek help from those around them. These help-seeking endeavors rarely lead them to dire situations, but often end with help from some surprisingly kind strangers.
The Kindness Diaries explores similar pleasures of traveling. Host Leon Logothetis journeys across borders on his vintage bike. On his way, he crosses paths with generous strangers who help him find food, water, shelter, and in return, he gives back to them in thoughtful and profound ways.
6 Unbranded (Tubi/Amazon Prime)
Tumblr media
Unbranded is a travel documentary with a Western twist. Culled from almost 500 hours of raw footage, the film closely follows the lives of four young boys who travel on horseback like cowboys from the Mexican to the Canadian border. Throughout their 3000-mile journey, they intend to promote the adoption of wild horses.
The documentary is thoughtfully crafted in such a way that it not only pleases viewers with its raw visuals of American public lands but also addresses some major environmental issues like the dwindling population of horses.
5 Tales By Light (Netflix)
Tumblr media
There's an age-old saying: "Every picture tells a story." Tales by Light—a three-season docu-series—captures the very essence of this. By exploring the backstory of several powerful images captured by talented Australian and North American photographers, the series draws wonderful parallels between photography and our natural world.
RELATED: 10 Best Netflix Documentaries Right Now, According To IMDb
For obvious reasons, the awe-striking imagery in the series will appeal a lot more to photography enthusiasts. But the heart-wrenching stories behind all pictures have the power to change many lives. They reflect the empathy and compassion of the photographers who captured them.
4 Residente (Vudu/Amazon Prime)
Tumblr media
Rene Perez (AKA Residente) is among the most celebrated artists of Latin America. In Residente, he takes a DNA test and embarks on an adventure to explore everything from the culture to the personal lives of his ancestors. Along the way, he finds inspiration and uses his experiences to create his next phenomenal album.
Throughout the runtime of the documentary, Rene engages with viewers through his music and creates a highly immersive experience. Due to this, viewers not only get to walk through his creative process of making music but also get a deep and insightful perception of the world through his eyes.
3 Dark Tourist (Netflix)
Tumblr media
Time and again, The Amazing Race surprises viewers and contestants with its filming locations. For those who are fascinated by the exploration of less typical destinations, Dark Tourist has a lot to offer.
Journalist David Farrier visits places that are unique to explore, often spots that have to do with death and tragedy. Farrier's more macabre escapades may be hard to digest at times, but they're fascinating nonetheless.
2 Mile... Mile & A Half (Tubi/Vudu/Amazon Prime)
Tumblr media
Set against the backdrop of the sprawling John Muir Trail, Mile...Mile & A Half follows the twenty-five-day hiking trip of five young men. For the most part, the documentary keeps things simple by highlighting the wholesome chemistry between its cast members.
Along with that, it merges its minimalist narrative with crisp and spectacular cinematography. Technically sound and sincere with its message, Mile...Mile & A Half is a work of art.
1 Faces Places (Amazon Prime/Vudu)
Tumblr media
Faces Places is all about the rural French wanderings of the dynamic duo, Varda Agnes and JR. While Varda, being a veteran photographer and director, shares her warm and witty experiences with the utmost buoyancy, JR contrasts her by presenting his relatively green, but sharp, perception of art that surrounds them.
Both their striking differences and shared love for images perfectly portray the power of the storytelling medium. Not to mention, their poetic journey is complemented by the scintillating music of french artist Matthieu Chedid.

The Deliverance DLC is out now in Japan and will be here next week, and while I’m glad to see that Clive’s gay entourage will be getting some extra development and interaction (possibly of an even more slashy variety) I do think it’s a bit of a missed opportunity for DLC supports to be restricted to characters who are already in the same army anyway. Cross-army support lines that would be interesting to see:
Leon x Python - gay archers sniping at each other, with Python mocking Leon’s devotion to Valbar and Leon retorting that Python is suspiciously dedicated to a guy (or two, or three) himself. May possibly involve Leon getting hit on for real, which would greatly annoy him. Alternatively, Lukas x Leon would be similar with a less indignant Leon, and could possibly even be shippy in crack sort of way.
Python x Jesse - lazy flirt vs. active flirt; bonus points if it’s like Kent/Fiora and there’s a heavily implied one-night stand between supports. You know it would happen.
Mycen x Nomah - they’re good friends, and anything about Mycen’s mysterious lifelong bachelorhood would be good development.
Silque x any of the Novis characters - she comes from the same priory so she’d know them, and I love opportunities for religion wank.
On a similar note, Tatiana x Genny or Celica, to help clarify if Tatiana is a non-evil Duma worshiper or an inexplicable Mila worshiper in Rigel.
Zeke x any of the Whitewings - hey, FE12 had Sirius support one of those forgettable midgame cavaliers and teased the guy’s real identity.
Sonya x Delthea - probably a little too far apart in age to be shippy, but they’d bond easily over resenting their magical heritages and trying to escape from the Duma Faithful.
Delthea x Genny - big dreams about city life and wish fulfillment fiction. Could be shippy or could allude to their eventual unnamed husbands (or both)
Luthier x someone - just so he can have more friends than Alm and a cat. Maybe Palla or Catria, since they have experience with carefree and danger-prone younger sisters, or Conrad, as older brothers who don’t do relationships apparently.
Also Deen x someone, because he’s bereft of personality at present except that he like money and Jesse thinks he’s hot (neither of which are unique traits). Possibly Deen x Clair, because the parallel with Rutger/Clarine almost writes itself.
Faye x Kamui - for the contrast of a former nomad with lingering wanderlust and a village girl who’s extremely attached to her pre-war life and childhood crush. Could even be shippy.
Valbar x any of the Deliverance guys - if Clive, Lukas, or Forsyth it’d just be some dull stuff about Valbar’s history as a knight, but with Python there’d be the added bonus of Python pointing out that Leon has a huge crush on him. Valbar could use the help.
Mathilda x any of the Whitewings - for comparative studies of Archanea’s and Valentia’s sexism.
Celica x any of the Ram villagers - mostly Kliff because he’s the least developed and I can see Celica trying to pull him out of his shell, but any of them work. Celica x Faye is probably a recipe for disaster; better go Leon x Faye instead since those two get compared often.

you may have answered this before, but what are your thoughts on momota? and what's your opinion about him coming 1st on the reddit poll? (sorry if you didnt know that poll was a thing)
Weirdly enough I don’t think I’ve had a chance to talk muchabout Momota on his own yet! I’ve talked about his relationships with Ouma,Maki, and a few others, and about his illness, but I don’t think I’ve reallygotten a chance to talk much about my own personal feelings on him!
As for the reddit poll, I’m not actually surprised that hecame in first, haha! One of the first things that struck me about Momota washow intentionally he was meant to reference and parallel Kamina’s characterfrom TTGL. While I think the Japanese fanbase has had more of a mixed receptionto Momota as a character due to his character design being highly unpopularamong a lot of fanartists and a lot of uncertainty about the momoharudevelopment in general, I feel like the Kamina archetype is markedly morepopular in the west.
Due to the nature of TTGL and characters like Kamina andMomota who deal with highly individualistic journeys of self-discovery, I feelthe western fandom generally receives these things a little moreenthusiastically. Western ideals do tend to put much more value on theunlimited potential of the individual and in prioritizing self-improvement andambition above all else. The trend in most eastern media (which is not to saythis is a definite thing, merely a trend) usuallyemphasize more importance on the community as a whole and in finding one’splace in relation to helping others, be it friends, family, neighbors, etc.
I can definitely see why Momota’s constant take-chargeattitude, his chin-up, “believe in the me who believes in you” philosophy, andhis really excellent moments of self-sacrifice and taking one for the teamwould have helped him win the reddit poll by a landslide. In that sense it’sreally interesting how different his score was compared to the Japanese pollwhere he placed 11th—it proves once again that none of thecharacters are necessarily super “unpopular.”
It’s not that characters like Momota or Gonta were everdisliked per se, just that they weren’t the Japanese fandom’s favorites. Bycontrast, characters like Momota scored noticeably higher with the westernfandom because of cultural trends and group discussion on the forum. So it’sactually a really fun comparison!
As for my personal thoughts on Momota—I honestly love him.The whole ndrv3 cast resonated with me really strongly for the most part, and Iwould say Chapter 5 of ndrv3 is perhaps one of the most solid chapters out ofany DR game (chapters 4-6 really are excellent all around). I honestly love thefact that Momota was set up at first to seem like the type of character who istoo reckless and hot-tempered to ever actually put aside his own opinions oradmit to his mistakes when he’s wrong about something, only to have this subvertedspectacularly later on.
The fact that Momota spends not only the post-trial but allof Chapter 5 reevaluating his behavior during the Chapter 4 trial with Gontaand realizing how his blind trust and optimism actually was quite dangerous isstill very interesting to me. He’s the only member of the group who advocatestaking Ouma up on the electric hammers when he comes by with them—because assomeone who truly is looking out for everyone’s welfare, Momota could recognizeobjectively that they stood the best chance at surviving by using the toolsOuma had brought them rather than just turning them down because they didn’t likeOuma personally.
Contrary to most people’s expectations for him, Momota isdefinitely not stupid, certainly not in areas where it comes to reading people’sintentions. Like Miu, he comes across as brash and loud, but he excels in hisown personal areas of expertise, and this includes helping and coaching others. The fact that he’s fluent in three languages as part of his astronaut trainingand someone who can clearly follow instructions well and act if need be shows thatalthough he can be hot-headed and a little lacking in common sense sometimes,he’s definitely got a good head on his shoulders when he’s not letting histemper or “trust everyone, doubt no one” philosophy get the best of him.
I think I mentioned it in a piece of meta a long time ago too,but as a self-proclaimed “protagonist” character, Momota is fun because he’sactually closer to the end of his arc of character development, rather thansomeone who makes drastic leaps and bounds of development himself. In manyways, I feel he’s actually much more of a “coaching” figure than Nidai managedto be by virtue of getting considerably more screen time. Most of what Momotadoes for the rest of the group, including trying to force them to confronttheir own insecurities and weaknesses, is exactly what you’d expect from a “lifecoach” sort of character.
More than anything, I love that Momota was willing todiscard his own prejudices and work together with Ouma when push came to shove.Chapter 5 was so powerful because of the lengths they were both willing to goif it meant trying to end the killing game—lengths Kiibo went on in theirfootsteps to emulate in Chapter 6 when he concluded all of Saishuu Academywould be better off in ruins rather than letting the game continue.
Momota’s love for his friends, the fact that he treasuresthe whole group so much even when he’snot exactly correct in wanting to trust all of them to the end, is soadmirable. And I appreciate that by Chapter 5, he was more willing than almostanyone else in the group to actually put aside his usual trust-everyone mottofor the sake of deceiving them all if it meant there was really a chance tostrike back at the ringleader, because it was so unexpected from him, and yetso in-character because of what a powerful move it was. His and Ouma’scollaboration was certainly something Tsumugi never saw coming in a hundredyears, and that’s exactly why it was so much fun.
I think Momota’s a fantastic character in his own right andI’m really glad he’s been really well-received, especially in the westernfanbase! It’s nice to see a lot more art of him than there was when the gameinitially launched. I think people are finally coming around to see the appealof his character—so many people expected him to be little more than eitheranother Hagakure or Leon from his initial promotional art that seeing hisrelevance to the plot really surprised a lot of people, I think.
Anyway, I’m glad I had the chance to talk about him a littlemore because it’s certainly true that I don’t get to talk about Momota enoughusually! Thank you so much for asking!
