Hello fellow Rise fans! I just wanted to share this ROTTMNT playlist I made and I’m really proud of. This is my first time making a playlist for a specific fandom/character but I got so inspired after finishing Rise I felt compelled to make one for my boys! This is my first also putting songs in a playlist in a specific order so if anyone has feedback on order or even adding a song I would love to hear it!

I would also like to say this entire playlist started cause I couldn’t stop thinking about how “Goodbye John Smith” by Barns Courtney was literally about future Leo, and I couldn’t unhear it.

I thought Usagi was the same age as Splinter? Was I wrong??

so in case you didn’t know! miyamoto usagi (not to be confused with the yuichi guy from the nextflix show) is originally a character from Usagi Yojimbo, a comic i enjoy separately from anything turtle related! like TMNT, it also started back in the 80s. and like in most ongoing american comics, the creator stan sakai does not like to commit to any hard numbers regarding usagi’s age, even though we know time is passing in-universe. we get plenty of stories set in his childhood, and a few from when he’s a teenager, but for most of the comic he’s somewhere in his mid to late twenties. by my admittedly shaky math, he is roughly twenty-one at the chronological start of UY.

so, you know how i said both the original TMNT and UY comics started in the 80s? well, their creators are friends! and so TMNT and UY as franchises have been doing occasional crossover specials since the dawn of time. it’s a tradition that’s carried over to the TMNT television shows. with the exception of the 2018 ROTTMNT show, there has been a tmnt version of usagi for every iteration of turtles.

and every usagi. is basically a different dude entirely.

i can’t speak for most of the other turtle shows, but in the 2003 show, he was aged down into his teens. this show was notable in particular, partly due to how much screen time this usagi got compared to most other crossovers. (watching an hour long compilation video of usagi clips on youtube was my very first “canon” impression of this character.)

tl;dr How young Usagi is depends on the iteration. Personally, whenever i draw him in the style of a ROTTMNT crossover that-never-officially-happened-and-probably-never-will, I’m plucking him directly out of his teenage years. Master Splinter, by contrast, is usually like 50+ years in most iterations.

hello! i’m sorry to bother you but I have a rather weird question, for some context, I’ve never really consumed any TNMT content but i have a friend that does. This friend keeps making very sexual comments about the characters of TNMT 2018, i’ve confronted them about being weird about minor characters since according to google these characters are 13-16, but they’ve assured me in a recent movie they’re 18? and I thought i’d ask a TNMT turtle fan is this is true or not. . . i’m sorry if this question makes you uncomfortable, i had to ask someone.

Yeah that is rather weird, in the movie the ages are 15( Michelangelo), 16(Donatello and Leonardo), and 17(Raphael). The movie takes place 2 years after the final season where the turtles would be 13, 14, and 15. So it’s very weird and creepy that your friend is saying those type of things.

Shockingly, my favorite part thus far is in the project is coding followed by the art. I really have to be in the right mood for dedicated scripting, but I’m thinking that if I get the basic code outline done first, I can go back and flush out the dialogue to make it better. I feel like it’s a really round about way to get it done, but if it keeps me interested than so be it.

I’m already starting to loose a bit of drive (which happens a lot with longer projects) but by taking breaks when I need to I will hopefully keep up on it.

Rn I’m doing some TNMT re designs for fun while I watch the 2012 series. I finished the 2018 Rise series (and loved it) so I’m watching more, lol.
