International Tiger Day is being celebrated on 29 July every year all around the world. This day is also celebrated as Awareness Day to prevent the extinction caused due to poaching. It is due to poaching and destruction of forests that the number of tigers has dropped significantly in various countries.
India currently accounts for 70 percent of the total tiger population in the world.
The idea of ‘International Tiger Day’ was born in 2010, at the Tiger Conference in St. Petersburg, and it was decided that it would be celebrated every year on 29 July.
Share wishes and images on the occasion of International Tiger Day. Support the initiative “Project Tiger to revive the tiger population” launched by India and adopting a tiger through WWF.
It Growls! It Prowls! This “realistic plush toy with Vinyl head” actually moves and makes noise, so with a little (or a lot) of imagination you can be in the heart of the jungle with this fierce and fine fellow.
Here's a study I did of a tiger. This is my first time properly trying to use my marker set, and I'm kinda happy how it came out for a first attempt? Also keep in mind I am NOT good at drawing big cats, so sorry if the face doesn't appear super tiger-like. I tried my best.
Let's consider this a late Lunar New Year picture since technically, this is still the year of the Tiger (and I think the person who started the Turtorial back on Deviantart believed that as well when he drew his own picture for us to try to do ourselves). Anyway, this was inspired by the Teacup piglet pictures I've seen. So, here's a very tiny and timid tiger cub placed in a jade teacup with a Tiger Lily on it. You might say this little lady's camera's shy. And it is possible that the teacup she's in is very big for a tiger cub to be in. Hope you guys enjoy this.
An international Tiger Day is celebrated globally on 28th July to raise awareness about Tiger Conservation. The day was first celebrated in 2010 when 13 Tiger range countries came together for a Tiger Summit in Saint Petersburg in Russia. The summit was held to create ‘Tx2 – Double the Tigers’ campaign to increase the number of the endangered animal. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) along with several companies partnering it promoted the campaign through investigating the rangers which has led to an increase in tigers’ population.
The day is quite special in India, as India houses about 70% of total tigers present on the earth. In the year 2010, India recorded 1411 tigers alive in its forest vicinity which was quite alarming. Since ‘Double the tiger’ campaign, the tiger count increased to 2967 as recorded in 2019.
