Contemporary “Ticking Clock” Moviemakers love having characters race against time. A famous example occurs in “Goldfinger” with Bond trying to disable an atomic bomb fitted out with a digital clock counting off the seconds. In “The Countdown,” director Alex Reid employs text messages as the timing device. The 22-minute thriller—starring the director—was made with a $0 budget and shot primarily on an @Apple iPhone using @FiLMiCapps. A few scenes were filmed with a @DJIglobal drone. Mastercard has unveiled its first-ever music album titled Priceless, featuring ten songs by ten artists from around the globe. The hit “Gotta go Dancing” by Michael Rice was recorded at stages C + D, with a total of 9,500sq ft. Located just around the corner from our Brooklyn main Stage B, Stage D is part of GUM’s Trident Complex. Something that came out of the blue other day when I did decluttering. Before my Grandfather moved on, he came across this old time piece. He kept it in his possession for a lifetime; perhaps even forgetting about it. It froze unwound in an obscure realm within his home. The small circular clock stopped ticking as it slept. No one was winding it up. This is certainly comparable to death, an absence of purpose gives death the unjustified fear that defines it. We're all a tad different in our perception of time and life. I'll tell ya something on a personal note, holding an object older than anyone you know is surreal. This pocket watch predates even the first world war, and I feel a bit dumbfounded finding it in my possession. It'd be nice to know who else gazed upon it's spinning gears. Silent Ticking Clock For more than a century ticking clocks have added excitement to movie dramas, thrillers, and comedies. In addition to actual chronometers, there have been metaphorical ticking clocks such as the oncoming train in Mack Sennett’s “Barney Oldfield’s Race for a Life” (1913).
