HC definitely cries during his and XL’s wedding.
Because for as long as he can remember, he has always been 100% sure of his love for XL.
XL’s vows, his every word, memory, and promise expressing his love for HC - it’s a miracle. It’s a goddamn miracle to be loved back. When XL declares that he’ll devote the rest of his life to loving HC and make sure he’s happy, HC’s tears finally stream down his cheeks.
He sniffles, lower lip trembling.
“-oh, oh baby-“ XL interrupts his own vows to wipe HC’s face with a handkerchief. HC sobs pitifully, choking out an apology. “No, San Lang needs not to apologize. These are happy tears, right?”
HC’s face scrunches up as he nods. He desperately wipes at his eyes.
“O-of course they are. Gege makes me the happiest.”
“Aiya, you’re so sweet, my love.” XL cups HC’s jaw, stroking his thumb along his damp cheek. He finishes dabbing HC’s face, murmuring, “San Lang is such a pretty crier. I’m so lucky to love him so.”
XL’s own eyes are misty. He can’t help it. Whenever he sees HC cry, he can’t help but cry himself.
He shakily wraps up his vows, ending off with a watery, “I just…I really l-love you so much, San Lang. And that love grows bigger and stronger every single day.”
His hands gently squeeze HC’s.
“You are my everything.”
The knot in XL’s throat breaks free, causing him to let out a squeaky hiccup. This makes everyone in the audience chuckle through their own teary eyes.
(Okay, maybe not everyone. Some people are a little emotionally constipated and are dying inside from the sappiness overload.
But they will survive. Their friend is marrying their special person and that’s all that matters.)
It’s now HC’s turn to say his vows. The vows that he spent weeks diligent writing out and memorizing. The vows that, upon staring down at XL’s sparkling eyes that probably hold literal stars inside, HC completely blanks on.
“F-fuck, I’m sorry, Gege, I had everything planned out but n-now I can’t do anything right,” HC stutters, shrinking in on himself.
“Shhh, you’re doing great, my love,” XL whispers, smiling encouragingly. “Take a few deeps breaths. Big inhale- and exhale- there you go. Now, just tell me how you feel.”
HC takes a few more deep breaths. If XL trusts him not to fuck things up, then HC will trust his voice as well.
“Okay.”
HC proceeds to spill out his heart into the most beautiful, eloquent love confession. Now XL’s the one with tears blurring his vision, the sheer amount of love he feels for the man in front of him flooding out.
HC serenades his beloved with years’ worth of yearning daydreams and late night prayers. Of precious days spent planting and tending to the garden he and XL have made for themselves, and cherishing the buds and blossoms that bloom from their love.
He’s gradually leaned closer until his foreheads rests against XL’s, breathing out lowly, “-you are, and always will be, the one for me.”
When the officiant blesses the couple toward an everlasting marriage of love, XL lifts onto his toes while HC’s arms wrap around his waist. They kiss slowly and tenderly, XL cupping HC’s jaw, a salty taste registering on his tongue.
When XL pulls away, HC chases his lips for one more shorter peck.
“Hi husband,” XL whispers endearingly.
“Husband.“ HC repeats, in slight disbelief.
He leans in for another kiss.
Bonus:
-When HC throws the flower bouquet, it heads right in FX’s direction. Naturally, MQ tackles him to the ground and the person behind FX catches the bouquet.
That person is HX.
SQX outright shrieks.
-Cue HuaLian cutting the cake. XL sneakily dabs the frosting onto HC’s cheek and proceeds to lick it off.
In retaliation, HC smears cake against the whole lower half of XL’s face. XL cackles when HC goes to clean up the mess he made.
MQ: [finger in the mouth gag]
-A wave of people come to congratulate the newlyweds throughout the night and HC IS NOT HAVING IT-
He just steps back and let’s XL do the socializing, all while back hugging his husband.
HC after all the important protocol activities: “can we go now?”
XL: “San Lang, it’s our party, try to enjoy it?”
HC: “mhm…”
HC was a sticky boyfriend but now he’s a sticky husband!
-Someone has to be the photographer so they can take the cutest candid photos of the newlyweds.
Enter YY: the low maintenance photographer with a weak-enough presence to capture all the moments without people noticing.
YY when he sees how HC keeps leaning over to whisper things in XL’s ear while smirking: “can they get a room?”
YY also has all the tea of the night.
He finds SQX and HX making out in the corner; SQX on HX’s lap with the bouquet tightly squeezed between them.
He catches FX pouring hot sauce into MQ’s drink, and later on dance floor, MQ making it his mission to step on FX’s feet.
He spots PM leaving with several women.
LW and SWD go out in the gardens, LW rubbing her temples while SWD pulls out a joint.
He sees BY and PX running around like wild, headless chickens because they lost E’Ming aka the ring-bearing-dog and HC is going to kill them.
He stumbles upon QYZ fighting someone’s child and runs away before the younger man notices him.
YY is unsuccessful and therefore, gets no more pictures of the night after being caught.

Note
honestly I'm kinda disappointed all the popular/well known ships are gone/eliminated
the semis look kinda boring now tbh
(ps: I don't mean to hate on the ships winning. I'm sure they're winning for a reason. it's just they're all kinda unknown/not mainstream)
We're definitely surprised to see some of the highly seeded ships go down early, but personally, I think that makes the remaining matches more exciting, not less! Who doesn't love an upset, after all? But of course, with Bubbline in one half and Destiel in the other, there are definitely some significant heavy hitters still in the running!
That being said, we know we have some underdog semifinalists that people are less familiar with, so here's a brief primer on each of them!
Hualian comes from the Chinese novel Tian Guan Ci Fu, or Heaven Official's Blessing. If you've heard of Wangxian of Mo Dao Zu Shi/The Untamed fame, TGCF comes from the same author. It is a xianxia love story about ghost kings and fallen gods. Here's the plot synopsis from IMDB:
Eight hundred years ago, Xie Lian was the Crown Prince of the Xian Le kingdom. He was loved by his citizens and was considered the darling of the world. He ascended to the Heavens at a young age; however, due to unfortunate circumstances, was quickly banished back to the mortal realm. Years later, he ascends again, only to be banished again a few minutes after his ascension. Now, eight hundred years later, Xie Lian ascends to the Heavens for the third time as the laughing stock among all three realms. On his first task as a god thrice ascended, he meets a mysterious demon who rules the ghosts and terrifies the Heavens, yet, unbeknownst to Xie Lian, this demon king has been paying attention to him for a very, very long time.
At #58 in the Tumblr 2023 top ship list, they're solidly middle of the pack in terms of seeding, but they did take down Buddie at #10, and Davekat of Homestuck infamy: a very impressive showing!
Sulemio hails from the latest installment in the Mobile Suit Gundam anime franchise, The Witch from Mercury; as with all Gundam series, it is a sci-fi military drama featuring giant robots and space warfare. This one happens to also feature heavy inspiration from Revolutionary Girl Utena. Official synopses seem a bit lacking, and I unfortunately don't know enough about the series to summarize it myself, but I'll link this very helpful guide that someone left in our notes!
They're the lowest seeded of our semifinalists, ranking #59 on Tumblr's 2023 top ship list, so the fact that they've taken out the top seed is truly a feat; having a rallying force with @demilypyro has certainly helped their cause (and our very busy activity feed 😅) a great deal!
Regardless of who wins the next rounds, there are very fun underdog journeys present on both sides of the bracket. Plus, it's always good to remember that polls like these are not meant to be indicators of popularity, but of passion.

Am I the only one fed up with the constant comparison between mdzs and tgcf?
When I first found out about tgcf I checked the comments to see how it was recieved by the other readers and oh my Xian Le! The whole review section was filled with people saying that it wasn't on par with mdzs! Mdzs was the first danmei book I read (couldn't ever finish it I just can't read after the confession scene I did not like the romance part a lot) and while it isn't my favourite I liked the plot so I kept myself away from tian Guan ci fi. And then after 2 years I saw its donghua airing and I thought if a donghua was being made then surely it couldn't be that bad and that was when I actually fell in love with the masterpiece this book is. I wouldn't mind if people had any actual complaints about the book but just because it's theme are not similar to mdzs that's insane. It's like you hate a mango for not being an apple. I'd like to hear everyone's opinion since I've seen this happen for way toooo long and heard absolutely no one complain against it, so is it just me who finds it problematic?
(Sorry for the rant it's just been upon my chest too long.)
both the books are brilliant in themselves and have their own shortcomings. I've never been much of a fan of mdzs but it's plot it's characters and their motivations are brilliantly written is something I would never counter. Tgcf on the other hand is not so based on people's motivations rather their reactions. How they react in certain situations and what those reasons cause. As much as I am in love with tgcf it has its own shortcoming but the very reason I love tgcf is that even with those shortcomings it makes itself a very very enjoyable and through read.
Both the books may appear similar at surface but they have very very different themes. As I said previously mdzs is more on people's motivations to do what they must. It's like you have to do what you must to survive it raises questions such as if you did what you did to survive then can what you did really be condemned since that at that point of time was the only thing you could've done. So condemning that is not right.
While tgcf on the other hand is more based on the reactions people have with their own situations and then those reactions affect things. It raises questions as what is truly correct? How do you condemn someone when what they did was truly justified by their point of view during the time that decision took place. Do you punish them? But if they were not even aware of those matters then how can they be at fault? Being oblivious while cannot be a defense in law it's a huge set back in life.
(Sorry for the rant~ haha I swear there's something wrong with me just can't seem to stop typing about books once I start.)
(I posted this on reddit too but ....people just don't stop the comparison, in a very unhealthy way.....)

Zionists, TERFS, antisemites, sinophobes, and other unapologetic bigots blocked on sight.
Anon hate will result in instant block without response.
Invasive asks about personal details will be deleted without response and the sender blocked if it continues. My privacy is important to me.
I don't care what you ship and you shouldn't care what I ship. Same with reading/writing, tropes, kinks, or whatever else. You don't know my life, I don't know yours, so it's not my place or your place to judge. If you don't like that I don't care what people do with fictional characters then feel free to block me. If you want to know more about my specific stances on "problematic" ships and fiction, please read this post because honestly, I think it's nuanced.
I tag all ships, so if you just don't like a ship that I post about but are a reasonable person who isn't going to start accusing someone on the internet of real and serious crimes and don't care about following someone you don't fully agree with then you can feel safe blocking the ship name and it won't show up on your feed.
Personally, I don't engage with ships where one partner is an adult and the other a minor unless it's meant to explore trauma and its effects (and thus not a "ship" in the widely-understood sense). Age-gap is not included here, nor the "they knew each other when one was a kid!" argument, just the specific relationship itself. It also doesn't include ships between a 17/18 y/o for example, where the characters are close in age and in the same cohort/started a relationship when both were minors, etc.. I'll block people who romanticize fictional adult/minor relationships for my own comfort, but I'm still not going to harrass you about it. Other categories of "problematic" ships are case-by-case for me, but this kind specifically is one I don't want to see.
Don't send me fanfic of my original works! I will not read it during serialization, and I will not comment on it after serialization.
I don't usually post nsfw, but when I do it is tagged "zhuixing adds chili peppers" so please block that tag if you are a minor or do not want to see nsfw!
I've had a whole lot of trauma my entire life and living in this world is hard, so sometimes I will post rant/vent type posts. If you don't want to see these, block the tag "zhuixing cuts onions".
Any discussion of real-world happenings will be tagged "zhuixing posts current events" so block this tag if that sort of thing bothers you.
More about me and my writing below the cut…
……
MORE ABOUT ME AS A PERSON
I'm a queer & chronically ill full-time writer, part-time artist. Originally a city kid from central/northern China, currently living in the USA. Feel free to send me a message if you want to say hi! I'm fairly shy but I do my best to respond.
This blog is mostly scum villain right now, but I'll occasionally post about other fandoms too! The main things I enjoy are MXTX's other books, Tai Sui, Genshin Impact, Tolkien's Legendarium, Star Wars (especially TOR), and the Elder Scrolls.
I'm also writing an original xianxia/danmei novel, 《Ghosts of the Heart》 so please check out my patreon to read that, the first few chapters will be free for anyone to read & begin releasing in Feb 2024.
I'm really interested in language learning/linguistics study, Chinese culture, and hanfu construction & style, as well as a long-standing interest in pretty and cool rocks.
Please don't treat me as a consummate cultural authority! I love sharing things about my culture, but I have been isolated from it for over a decade until just recently, so I am still learning/relearning quite a bit and may make a mistake from time to time. Please be gentle if correcting me-- my lack of connection to my native culture is something I can be quite sensitive about.
我来自中国河南省,我也喜欢闲话我的故乡。我不会说中文很好,因为我多年前来美国了,不过我想要练习说我的母语。如果你想要,你就可以问我问题或发送消息!
……
MORE ABOUT ME AS AN AUTHOR
My writing pace fluctuates. I'm chronically ill and currently having to work retail on and off until my writing career builds up enough support to be my primary source of income. Working retail massively drains my energy, so until I make enough to support myself on patreon, speed of chapter releases won't be especially fast. I do try to post something, whether original or fanfiction early-access, on patreon at least once a week. If you like my writing and can afford to become a patron, please consider it. Every new patron helps me get closer to being able to write more & higher-quality work!
I don't read fanfiction of my original works until serialization is complete. This is primarily for legal reasons, to protect myself, but also to keep from being swayed during serialization by the prevalent ideas in the fandom. I also won't comment on fanfiction of my original works irt characterization or canonicity once serialization is finished. I'm personally more interested in seeing what the fandom comes up with and don't care to correct them. But if you make fanart please send it to me to see! I love that so much!
I believe that the current attitudes around copyright and "intellectual property" are BS. Art is meant to be shared and to grow in a community, and strict IP regulations prevent that growth. Part of the reason why I am so set on self-publishing via patreon instead of going with traditional publishing is so that I can create my own Transformative and Derivative Works policy (currently, the policy is a WIP but I will link it here once it is finished). As a long-time fanwork creator, I fully understand the amount of work and effort and care that goes into creating fanworks, and wish to take a different approach to the legitimacy of such works, allowing for a network of free creation rather than increasing restrictions with IP and trademarks, so I am working to draft a policy that will allow for free creation and expansion without compromising the integrity of the original work. If any independent creators wish to use some or all of my TDW policy, they are entirely free and encouraged to do so, as I would love to see a world where creators are not so constrained by strict copyright and IP culture, and where stories belong to both the listener and the teller as they have for thousands of years.

BeefLeaf Drabble (4/3/24)
“MingXiong! Come quick!” He called out, Qingxuan and MingYi had descended for a day of fun,
“Hm?” The earth master mused while sauntering over, not swayed by Qingxuan’s urgency, “That bar?”
“MingXiong~ its a soup bar! Have you heard of those? It’s a human thing where you go to the counter and try all sorts of soups! Let’s go in, they probably have something with beef!”
“You don’t like soup though- you say it’s slimy…”
“Ah, haha,” Qingxuan’s nervous laughter escaping slightly, “Well I wanted to eat with you so I don’t care if the food is to my taste”

Preggie XL waddling around the home, speaking to his unborn child. He’s bored because he’s taken time off work. HC is out and fengqing are coming over to visit.
Fengqing arrive to see XL attempting to clean the home, which they vehemently protest at. They make their round friend sit down while they complete the chores. XL pouts while bouncing on his exercise ball, though glad to have socializing time.
Later, they watch a film together, cuddled on the couch. FX rubs XL’s feet while MQ becomes a back rest for XL, taking weight off his back for him.
When HC gets home, fengqing bid farewell. HC greets his husband with many kisses to his sweet face and then to his full belly. He also picked up takeout from XL’s favorite noodle place, and he feeds his husband while rubbing his tummy.
Later, HC helps XL take a bath, washing his hair, hard to reach places, and massaging his sore muscles. Then, HC sits XL on his lap in their bed.
They kiss passionately, savoring their combined taste. HC’s clever lips and clever fingers bring XL to the edge beautifully. If he could, XL would be purring as his husband cleans him up, pampers him. Leaves the gentlest touches upon XL’s already very-loved body.
They fall asleep with pillows strategically situated between their bodies so XL is most comfortable. With his husband’s face snugly tucked into his neck, HC relishes in the tranquil night, of being the luckiest person on earth to call this precious Angel his.
***
It gets to the point where XL leaves a trail of things he drops around the house because he’s so big, he can’t bend down and pick them up. Like hair ties, towels, books, etc. Just strewn on the ground because it’s too much effort to try to reach down.
When HC is home, he happily cleans up after his waddling husband. Picks the things up and puts them in the correct places.
***
One time, when they’re sitting in bed, HC startles when he hears the sound of sniffling. He looks over to see his husband is crying. Startled, HC asks what’s wrong?
XL wordlessly shows HC a video on his phone of mama cat grooming her baby kittens.
“T-they’re so cute-“ XL sobs, shoving his phone further in HC’s face. Relieved that it’s nothing serious, HC nods while smiling.
“That will be us soon…kinda-“ HC mumbles mindlessly. He grabs ahold of XL’s wrist holding the phone and presses a kiss to the soft skin before pulling away.
XL’s lower lip wobbles even more at the gesture.
“I love you,” he whispers, putting down his phone. HC opens his arms warmly as XL nudges close to his side. HC softly kisses the crown of his head.
“I love you too.”

Since I haven't posted in a while I thought I'd share some of the fic I've written in those years too. I have a bunch of very cute and steamy Hualian fics that include a little adoptive boy~ (with his own story too)
After being reunited at Puqi Shrine a year after the Big Mess, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng can finally live their happily ever after. But nothing is ever as peaceful as it seems. With each adventure they get closer - and find a little ghost boy to complete their little family.

Welcome!
This is mostly a place for an assortment of various fandom interests, queer issues, and mental health topics, with a healthy mix of random thoughts thrown in.
