“Careful, sweetness, you’re gonna give yourself away too soon,” Pez replies.
Alex chooses not to focus on the pet name — because since when was Nora sweet? — and sighs. “Just, please, no mentions of my fucking mom when we’re talking about sex. It’s weird enough to be doing this with June here.”
“I have to agree with little bit on this one,” June nods.
Henry, just on the side of too tipsy, leans over with gin on his breath and whispers, “Mm, you’re not little, darling.”
Or he tried to, at least.

My entry for Theeesgiving- which might not fit the assignment, but I couldn't get this forgotten moment out of my head!
This is a situation June never thought she'd find herself in.
Yet here she is: her best friend she's had a secret crush on for years that she's kept locked away in her heart and the guy who's had a thing for her ever since his best friend's brother's wedding together in one room for the night… and there's only one bed. Sure, there's a couch, but those are never comfortable, and she has no idea which of the two would take it.
She must look like the deer in headlights that she is, because Pez says softly, “Don't worry. We're not going to make you choose.”
“What?” she asks, startled.
Nora gives her a long, loaded look. “We've decided that we're not going to fight over you. Whatever you decide is what's going to happen. Neither one of us is going to get to get you to do or say anything you feel pressured into.”
She felt like she had Alex’s chaotic brain in that moment. Nothing was making sense. “Nora, I- how did you know?”
To her credit, Nora didn't laugh. “I'm your best friend. It wasn't hard to figure out.”
“But what about-”
“Shhh,” Nora hushes her with a finger to her lips. “Don't worry about anything and just feel.”
That's when she finds Nora’s lips on hers. It sets a fire in her, one that she now knows she never wants to put out.
When they finally part, hair a little disheveled from roaming fingers and breathless from the length of the kiss, June looks over at Pez, who has a conniving grin on his face. She's not sure when the two of them planned this, can't even imagine the awkwardness of that conversation. “But what about-”
He kisses her cheek, then looks between them. “Never fear, love. That bed is big enough for you two to do some canoodling and for me to get a decent night's sleep all at the same time.”
She just stares for a second. How did she get so lucky?
Then she turns her attention to Nora, their lips meeting, hands finding their way to places they've never been before.
When she wakes in the morning, despite his promise before they fell asleep that he wouldn't touch her and would be a gentleman, she has Pez’s arm wrapped around her on one side and is wrapped in Nora's embrace from behind. She's never felt so safe and loved in her entire life.
Maybe she can love her best friend and not have everything fall apart, after all.

Out of 24 fics published in 2023, 14 were explicit, 2 were mature, 7 were teen and up, and 1 was general audiences
3 fics didn't have a title sourced from anywhere. 3 were sourced from literature/poetry, 3 were puns, and the remaining 15 were song lyrics, with 3 each from Taylor Swift and Matt Nathanson.
My highest kudos/hits ratio was on Empty your heart of its mortal dream, aka the Fae Prince Henry fic.

Nilch nada zip in terms of, like, fests. I wanted to do Threesgiving but the words wouldn't come, so a sort-of-threesome-sort-of-foursome will probably appear on some random day in fucking February or something lmao. However while they weren't fandom-specific events, I did do:

I have a lot -- a lot a lot a LOT -- of WIPs that will be completed in 2024, so please don't think of this as an exhaustive list, but they are the ones I'm most excited for:
A Practical Arrangement - @clottedcreamfudge has Devised A Punishment if I don't get chapter two out for y'all by Christmas because my usual methods of pushing past my brain bullshit weren't working, so technically this is a 2023 project 🤣 @ships-to-sail and @celeritas2997 have the carrot and CCF has the stick.
Anastasia AU!!! I LOVE this fic and I think it's in the 'meaty one-shot' range buuuuuut we'll see. It might get a little out of control.
Angstapalooza RWRB edition - this is gonna be another long fic, 10-11 chapters, 50k words ish, and I cannot WAIT to make y'all cry sink my teeth into it. My Schitt's Creeks babes know what happens when I deem something 'angstapalooza' lmao.
Hockey Boyfriend Henry part 3, aka the whole reason I started writing the fucking series in the first place lmao
Leverage AU, which I haven't shared anything of yet because it's a post-angstapalooza longfic but I am VERY HYPE FOR.
Rafael Is Surrounded By Disaster Queers, aka the Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead-style Rafael POV... 5+1? Vignettes? set in the Much Ado actor AU verse. Which at this point is just a gift for @inexplicablymine and @cricketnationrise and I wouldn't have it any other way.

BUT, 2024 is also for taking original writing seriously. Maybe flash/microfiction on patreon, definitely diving into an original novel. I've thrown in the towel with my contracting agency in the new year and everything. Ack.

“I felt up your employee,” Alex says, the words rushing out of his mouth. Henry blinks. “I thought Angus was you, and I grabbed him by the hips, and it was weird as shit, I’m sorry.”
Henry has the nerve to smirk, rolling his eyes. “He really is an excellent double,” he says, reaching out to pat Alex consolingly on the shoulder.

After getting a concerned call from the man's PPO, Henry makes an effort to ensure his body double Angus is getting properly socialized. Alex is hesitant to spend time with the Henry-shaped clone, but he quickly finds himself getting charmed by the man. Angus gracefully slides from strange phenomenon to friend.

In honor of @happiness-of-the-pursuit , @affectionatelyrs , and myself being Threesgiving Fic Pez Pet Name Brethren, feast on this snippet! PSA: Dirty words under page break :)
He keeps his head close to Pez’s when he speaks. “He’s a pretty thing when he listens, isn’t he Pez?”
“An absolute vision.” Alex smirks against the way Henry’s eyes flit between his eyes and the lazy grin on Pez’s face. “You’ve trained him well, Alexander. Never thought I’d see him quite this obedient.”
Alex leans further. He inks an open-mouthed kiss to the side of Pez’s neck. “Just wait. You’re not going to believe the little tricks he’s managed to pick up on.”
He sees Henry’s eyes follow the volley of words. The small shuffle Henry takes forward looks involuntary. His eyes are so focused on himself and Pez that Alex can’t imagine Henry would have spared the energy to move intentionally.
“You had something to tell us. Didn’t you, princess?” He gives the words over to the edge of a mocking condescension, the kind he’s learned skitters straight to Henry’s cock.
“Yes, Sir.” Henry moves his eyes to Pez’s. “Yes…”
“Mister is fine, sweetness.” Pez’s voice is lined with something smokey and dripping with authority. And Pez had said he had experience switching. But the utter drug of that dominance leaking into the words is a shock even to Alex. He watches that same surprise flutter across Henry’s features before it melts into want in his eyes.
“Yes, Mister.”

Hi, tell me about Watermelon Sugar, please
YES. This is mine and @heybuddy-drabbles work for Threesgiving.
It is a threesome fic that really leans deep into Alex's Bi identity as well as a focused look at what clear healthy communication looks like when you bring a third into the bedroom. Also just... steamy sex multiple ways in multiple positions. I'm not saying we got out Kamasutra for this work but there is a doc where the logistics of their positions is discussed extensively, and it's, well, hot.
I am sure we will share more on WIP Wednesday's throughout November in the lead up to the fest posting, but what most have been writing so far in the M/M/M space for this fest, we are taking a detour to write M/M/F. :)

Seven Sentence Sunday
massive thank you to my lovely friends @anincompletelist and @happiness-of-the-pursuit for the tag!!
this is a snippet from my upcoming entry for Threesgiving. I cannot tell you how excited I am for this little fest.
also don’t count my sentences, there may or may not be more the seven 🤫
But the truth of the matter is, Henry always wants to be good, always needs to know that he’s doing well. Add the press of the collar around his neck, the hours Alex has devoted to finding rules and protocol they both adore, training it into him to be muscle memory… Well, Henry is helpless to do anything besides follow Alex’s lead. Pez’s lead, if that’s what Alex wants.
The thing is, at the end of the day, Alex has never once made a decision for Henry he hasn’t thought through completely. Alex has never failed to look after Henry like this. Henry has lost count of the times Alex recognized what Henry wanted, what he needed, before Henry has even had a chance to consider it.
So, no. There’s no hesitation to Pez’s lure. Henry simply falls to balance on the palms of his hands in front of him, and crawls to his best friend.
