WIP Wednesday
Many thanks to @jmagnabo92, @three-drink-amy, @theprinceandagcd and @duchessdepolignaca03 for the tags!
I've been primarily working on my neighbours AU for @aroyallybigbangrwrb but I thought I'd feature something a little more spicy today that is a much older WIP that I haven't gotten around to writing properly yet.
Alex takes himself in hand, thinking only about Henry. He finally understands why Henry’s face has been the one to appear in all of his fantasies over the past few months, almost every time he takes a shower and he can no longer resist the urge to touch himself. Now that he’s had the chance to experience the real thing, the taste of him, the weight of him in his mouth - it all finally makes sense.
The next time they’re together, Alex desperately wants him in the shower.

Thank you for the WIP Wednesday & Several Sentence Sunday tags @firenati0n @onthewaytosomewhere @duchessdepolignaca03 @taste-thewaste @heysweetheart-writes & @myheartalivewrites! (I pray you actually see that cause tagging still seems to be having issues 🙃)
I got back from a ridiculously long trip, mostly seeing a friend in Amsterdam (half the time I was there I was working on an assignment which is done now eeee) & a little writing retreat near Shrewsbury in England (it actually produced some fanfic ideas too!) before I got back to bonnie Scotland on Monday. All this to say 1. I finally have more time to write 2. You get an extra long snippet today from my bigender Alex fic:
‘Is your usual barber busy, love?’ Henry asks as he scrolls on his phone, waiting for the kettle to boil. Alex is sprinkling cinnamon into his coffee, he looks at Henry with intrepidation.
‘Wow, I knew you loved cinnamon but even that seems excessive…’
Alex curses at the shaker still tilted in his hand.
‘Your dulcet tones distracted me, baby!’
Alex fakes a strop while he cleans up the kitchen worktop. They carry on around the kitchen for five minutes. Henry makes his tea, adding a teaspoon of honey which Alex licks the remnants of before putting the spoon in the dishwasher. Alex fixes his coffee before joining Henry at the dining table with some cookies Cash dropped off yesterday.
Henry seems content, with a mouthful of a cookie so Alex takes the plunge. He can do this, it means nothing. Yet.
‘I’m actually going to Percy's hairdresser for a change.’
‘Oh, how come?’
‘Don't get me wrong, Martin is still elite. He's never gone wrong with these curls. But Percy mentioned how it's a really queer friendly space and it sounded… nice, I guess?’
Henry smiles at him, there's a crumb on his lip that Alex wants to get for him. He takes a sip of his coffee instead.
‘Percy is even more precious about his hair than you so-’
Alex blows a raspberry at Henry.
‘That’s enough out of you white boy.’
Henry puts his hands up in surrender with a soft chuckle and if Alex ends up taking care of the cookie crumbs on Henry's mouth, well… he just doesn't like food waste, okay?

So since I haven't been writing my Big Bang, you may be wondering what I've been up to. It's not the Big Giant AU, either -- nope, it's a brand new AU that I don't want to share too many plot details about, but suffice it to say it'll be full of all my old standards: angst, smut, schmoop, etc. Today, I bring you a snippet of a little conversation that Alex and Henry are having on what may or may not be a date, depending on whose perspective you're considering.
“You’re a duke?” Alex asks. “I honestly had no idea.” Frankly, Henry would’ve preferred to keep it that way.
“You mean you don’t stalk my Wikipedia entry regularly?” Henry jokes. “Probably for the best. You only get the official facts there and none of the interesting ones. This is an official fact, though; Grandpa bestowed the title unto me when I turned twenty-five in March.”
“Now I want an interesting fact,” Alex declares.
“I fenced competitively until I was nineteen,” Henry replies instantly. “I was bloody good at it, too. Probably would’ve had an Olympic run like my cousin Anne had with her equestrian competitions. But then there was a minor incident where a foil tip was improperly attached, and I wound up very slightly stabbed—”
Flatly, Alex interjects, “You what.”
“Very slightly,” Henry emphasizes. “Didn’t even leave a scar, but my dad nearly had a heart attack when he found out, and that was the end of my fencing career.”

sigh, here's the tea y'all: I was p much convinced I was not going to do a WIP Wednesday today. I'm not mentally in it, I'm feeling run down and useless, and my ability to write has gone out the window as of right now. But I found this lil snippy at the end of a doc, waiting to be incorporated into it's home, and I thought I'd share the last line I'd written for wip Wednesday. Henry falls in love with Alex who wears glasses, and Alex who studiously hunches over his desk into the late night until Henry has to pry him and ply him with sweet kisses, convincing him to come to bed.

The gym has been decorated to the nines for the dance, streamers and gauzy fabric panels hanging from the rafters and draped over every available surface. There’s white picket archways set up around the perimeter of the room, providing selfie opportunities and more places to lay fabric and tack up fake greenery. Seriously, it’s like the dance committee raided a Joanne’s Fabrics without regard for anyone else’s sensibilities.
Nora gives her ticket to the bored-out-of-his-mind Spanish teacher manning the check-in table and slips inside. Just like every other school dance, it’s both ridiculously crowded and hotter than hell—there’s already signs of frizz on almost every girl’s hairdo, despite the scent of hairspray lingering in the air.
She can’t find June anywhere.
