***RP STARTER***

There was a loud crashing noise heard from near the entrance followed by large, heavy footsteps. These were supposedly made by someone running throughout the castle. As the seconds went by, the grew louder and louder, approaching Ghetsis at a decently high speed.

Suddenly they stopped. There was a brief moment of silence. What the fuck? The silence was then quickly broken by a ear-piecing banging noise and the sound of a door being slammed up against something. The wall or the floor, presumably. A voice was then heard, yelling. A... familiar voice.

"HEYA, GHETSIS!" Archie shouted, lowering his foot back down onto the ground. This fucking pirate for real just busted down this guy's door. With his foot. Just fucking kicked it in. Okay, Archibald. Alright.

Before the footsteps, Ghetsis had been sitting in his office, the shadow triad standing attentively before him, receiving their usual daily debrief.

At first, he presumed it to be another worthless grunt with a promise of an ‘incredibly rare pokémon’ (most likely another absol). Though, the footsteps seemed much to heavy for any grunt he could think of, plus, they’d been firmly told not to run in any part of the castle.

As the thundering grew closer he narrowed his eyes, gesturing for each shadow to take a defensive position somewhere in the room. Perhaps an escaped pokémon? A planned attack from the pokémon league?

With each thud on the door he grips his cane tighter, a practiced deadpan on his face despite the racing of his heart.

Oh my Arceus..

“Archibald?!” he quickly takes to his feet, slamming his cane into the floor. “Did I not prohibit you from entering these grounds?” he scowls, the beautifully ornate door still on its hinges, thank arc. He sighs, gesturing for the triad to fall at ease. Regardless, they take their places surrounding the intruder.

He pinches the bridge of his nose, not even bothering to ask how the man passed his grunts, “what is the purpose of this visit?”

Unhinged thoughts I've had recently about Ienzo/Zexion in no particular order:

We learn from Even in BBS that Ienzo was adopted by Ansem the Wise at a young age after something happened to his parents and he was orphaned. However, for Ienzo's parents to even be mentioned here is really Odd for Kingdom Hearts--we've never seen a canonical appearance of a character's parent in any of the games, and there are only a handful of times they've even been mentioned (Riku mentions that Sora's dad usually takes them out on the boats in BBS, Terra calls Eraqus his father but is not related to him by blood, Sora's mom notoriously calls him in to dinner in KH1, and Kairi had a grandmother in Radiant Garden if you want to count that). The only time we've ever seen the canonical appearance of a parent in the games is Xehanort's mother in KHUX/Dark Road, and that was extremely recent and considered very abnormal. Kingdom Hearts, up until KHUX, was always very unconcerned with the concept of blood family, so the fact that this bit of dialogue was included about Ienzo feels way too out of place not to be deliberate, especially since no other Organization member's parents are ever discussed (even though Lea and Isa were also kids). Given that Nomura seems particularly intent on exploring bloodlines in his current and future KH projects, I wonder if this detail will turn out to be something significant.

The scene in KHII Final Mix where Xigbar interrogates Zexion about what Xemnas is up to in the Chamber of Repose rings especially strange now that we know that Xigbar is actually Luxu (and additionally because the scene was not originally in the game and added to Final Mix, though probably this was to set up plotlines for BBS). What did Luxu think Zexion knew? He doesn't appear to actually glean any information from him--it's Zexion who gets information in this scene, he learns that Xemnas is looking for Ventus. Additionally, if Luxu already knew that Xemnas was looking for the Chamber of Waking to find Ven, he definitely knew that he was talking to Aqua in some way in the Chamber of Repose--my guess is that he was trying to learn from Zexion whether Xemnas had actually captured Aqua herself. (Luxu's ultimate goal here, remember, is to get Xehanort to act as the "scapegoat" and recreate the Keyblade War, and he's trying to keep as close of tabs on his progress as possible. Xemnas was trying to track down more ancient Keyblade wielders at this point--Luxu having just recruited Lauriam--and he likely wanted to know if he had managed to turn Aqua to their cause.) However, as Luxu is almost as inscrutable as MoM himself and his motives are extremely difficult to read, it is possible there's something else that he was trying to learn from him. If this is the case, I'd say that it was probably something that Zexion didn't even know he knew, or else he probably would have told Sora in KH3 if he had deemed it important.

Additionally, this exchange makes one question why Luxu would go to Zexion for this information in the first place, as he had already instated himself as Xemnas' right-hand man and is the person Xemnas would be most likely to tell this information. Nomura has stated in the past that Xemnas and Zexion shared a sort of "master-servant or teacher-student" relationship, which would likely explain this. This also explains why Saix believed that he was a threat to his rise to prominence within the Organization, even though he was a lesser number than him, and had Axel eliminate him in Castle Oblivion. It's kind of a shame that we never got to see this dynamic.

It does seem odd that Xemnas would deliberately mentor Zexion, a non-Keyblade wielder, if he was deliberately looking for Keyblade wielders of old to be his vessels. However, since Ienzo was only around eight or nine years old when he was manipulated into becoming a Nobody (which, side note, that's messed up), it's possible that he believed he might grow to have this potential--or, more likely, he knows what happened to his parents and believes him to have some connection to or be descended from a Keyblade wielder of old.

Zexion is the only Nobody besides Roxas and Namine to have a complete opposite personality to their recompleted self--while Zexion is reserved, terse, manipulative, and delights in cruelty and deception, Ienzo is warm, helpful, and borderline extroverted. While his lack of evil intent and fanatical devotion to the Organization's goals can be chalked up to his being recompleted, just as the other recompleted Organization members are no longer evil, it can't be denied that the difference between Ienzo and Zexion is like night and day. (Take Axel and Aeleus, for example--though they are no longer Nobodies and their goals are different, their personalities remain the same for all intents and purposes.) Ienzo mentions to Sora that they are no longer evil because they were out from under Xemnas's influence, so it's possible that we could ascribe this personality shift to that, especially as we know that he and Xemnas had a mentor-student relationship, and because we know that Ienzo was lied to as a child and made to believe that Ansem the Wise (his guardian) had gone mad and abandoned them (he says that "they" told him this, but it seems likely that this was Xehanort himself, which might be why he became closer to him rather than Vexen). However, as Ienzo does not learn that this information was false until late in KH3, this seems unlikely--and honestly, that drastic of a personality shift still seems unlikely in the short amount of time (at least, to him) between his being killed in CoM and recompleted in DDD. This makes me wonder if, like Roxas and Namine, his transformation from a human into a Nobody was somehow abnormal, though in what way I'm not sure.

Zexion's lexicon is called "The Book of Retribution," and I'm desperate to know why. Retribution for what? His guardian abandoning him?

My most unhinged thing about sleep token’s discography is that I think each song from the album is ‘sisters’ with the song in the same place on the other two albums.

Little Princess in a Terrible Mess

You’ve been trying to get used to this new, tiny life as best you can while your normal-sized classmates and colleagues try to find a way to reverse the curse. Up until now though you’ve had to go at it alone, making your own weapons and accommodations, but one day while you’re out foraging, you’re engulfed in a bright fire that, strangely, does not burn. Before you can make heads or tails of what exactly is happening, or if your feet are even still on the ground, you’re dropped roughly into a... house? Or rather, a dollhouse, but it can easily accommodate you and several of your allies. Beyond the windows, you can make out more fire, but vaguely there’s a face within the flames. PLAY. It commands you. Sometimes EAT. Other times SLEEP. You don’t know what will happen if you disobey, but there’s a stack of charcoal outside that gives you the creeps.

Raven had had just about enough of this shit. It was difficult to tell if time moved differently with him being so small, but he truly had no way of tracking how long it had been since he'd been shrunk - for what? A bowl of stew to celebrate a group of people I'm not even involved in? who didn't even win?

He had some gripes about the situation, to very little end. Some of the monastery staff had been tasked with finding those who had been besmalled, and assured these folk that a solution was in progress, pending test results. It was promising, he'd been promised. That could have been anywhere from several hours to several days ago, but the world remained ever perilous. Finding food, trekking back to the safety of his quarters for lodging, nevermind class - danger waited around every corner, and for no saints-be-damned reason.

He stirred, groaning, awoken by a horrible scent in his nose, cold and cloying. He shifted, the angles of his body smacking against hard, smooth surfaces all around him, and he jumped, startled for a moment, thinking that perhaps he was trapped.

Which was true, but not nearly in a way he'd assumed. He was surrounded by…tapping a knuckle against it, he could not fathom it was glass - not sturdy enough, if he jabbed his elbow hard enough it would surely shatter - but if not glass, nor wood nor stone, then what? And why was it such a garish mess? All around him the slick hard surfaced shined a medley of saturated pinks, purples, and white. Tapping his toe briefly against the pattered floor told him that wasn't wood either, just more of the slick, hard surface.

"What in the world?"

RISE.

Raven whirled on his heel, hand automatically going for the swordbelt on his side before he remembered that he had not had a proper weapon in ages. The makeshift crystal weapons remained abandoned underground, and a quick glance around did not reveal anything he could use. Cautious, he stared down…the sun? No, not bright enough, and if he squinted, he could see what passed for a face, pressing against the side of his cell.

The light shone at a door, briefly, and he felt it speaking at him again.

JOIN YOUR FAMILY.

The blood froze in his veins, and Raven jerked his head to the door - his family? Here? Impossible - but - how - ? And he dashed, vaguely noticing that it was his bare feet slapping on the floor as he scrambled in the direction the light shone.

"Mother - ! Father - ! Prisc - !" He cut himself short, breathless, when instead he found Lady Ethlyn and another young woman, brunette and beautiful and muscular. His heart hammered in his chest, and, furious, he turned to face the sun once more.

"Morning."

Aqua greeted Ruby as he heard her footsteps coming from across the house. He was sat at the kitchen table, clearly following his customary Saturday morning routine.

A bowl of rice porridge, a mug of black coffee, and the day's newspaper; the only things he seemed to ever have in front of him at breakfast. When you pair his habits along with the fact he wakes up at 5AM, well, you can tell he does a bad job of not acting like an old man.

Mug all but slamming down back on the table, Aqua paused, blinking in an unusual moment of self-awareness at this fact. An awkward moment of silence later, he managed to shrug off his own thoughts and continue talking to Ruby.

"There's, uh, more porridge on the stove if you want some. I didn't make any eggs this morning, I'm afraid."

Eyes once again fixated on the newspaper, he pushes his mug of coffee further away from him on the table, almost as if he doesn't trust it now--

Romani would receive a long sigh from Adelha for her to shake her head. The kitten reaching out to gently tug on Romani’s glove in an attempt to get the doctor to pet her. The kitten mewing playfully. While Adelha moves to kneel down and give Romani a kiss on the cheek. “Silly Romani. It’s almost time for dinner and well past time for you to stop working. So we are going to insist that you cease and desist working this instant.”

Adelha leans back to gently tap Romani on the nose for her to smile at him. That smile holding warmth and fondness as she chuckles at him. “Would you be willing to join a kitten princess and her mother hen of a human for dinner? Archer decides to spoil Chaldea with several seafood dishes. With the added luxury of honey cake for dessert. Does that sound good to you?”

Evening civilities and ceremonies conclude in the usual fashion ( strung along for the prolonged entertainment of aristocracy , forced into a dance done since his youth , it is no less exhaustive ) . Time is taken to steal away from the flock , making haste to put as much a berth ‘tween himself and the senseless gaggle in the castle. They’re EXCITED , he knows - he reasons - yet he was never so good at p e r f o r m i n g for the masses ( so unlike his parents , so reserved & internal ; the expectations mounted before him loom like insurmountable fixtures ) . His nature will likely be his undoing. But for now , he can keep his secrets and hide away in the gardens.

No sooner has he begun to sit down , then he is beginning to resume his too-rigid stature again at the sound of approaching soles. Isa is more than prepared for one of the guards ( or worse , one of the advisors ) to have come to fetch him , reminding him once more of his proper place amongst the people ( a time of celebration , he can foresee them saying , should you not be with everyone else ? why , it does not befit a future king to shirk his responsibilities ! ) . Try as he like , he cannot quite refrain from the tension pulling at his jaw , twisting his features into a hardened scowl. Though , the one who rounds the bend of rhododendrons is … Aqua. He relaxes , though only marginally , letting free of a sigh which frosts slightly in the pre-autumnal air. “It’s only you …” Sitting down at last , he motions for her to join him.

“I did not have a chance to properly congratulate you inside but , congratulations,” All of this , intoned with the grace of a fleeting smile , pale hues alight with admiration. “You’ve come rather far from the girl who used to chase me with a sharp stick , I have to admit.” He chuckles lightly at the memory. “How does it feel to be a knight ? Is it what you imagined it would be ?”
