#The Siren The Song and the Spy #the mermaid the witch and the sea #maggie tokuda-hall #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #i enjoyed this a lot!! more than book 1 tbh #i enjoyed book 1 but wasn't obsessed w it for whatever reason. also my memory of it is pretty hazy #but ahh!!! good characters #TWO aroace MCs :)#aroace books #florian & evelyn only have a couple short chapters between them; so maybe not great for fans of them #(but also honestly i'd prefer that to like. they're mcs but bad things happen to them)#it maybe… simplifies revolution and overturning the empire a bit?#but I guess most of the characters are just joining right when it’s about to pop off.#and also it does have the fairytale vibes that makes that work (I saw a review that said ‘deau ex oceania’ haha)
