When Sein was first introduced, I was a little worried because I loved the dynamic between Frieren, Fern, and Stark so much, and I thought we didn't need another character potentially messing that up. But, I was worried for absolutely nothing because I fell in love with his character almost immediately and he rounds out the group beautifully. They all play so well off of one another and he really feels like he belongs, even if he was only around for a short while.
I guess the point of all this is that I really miss Sein...

I'm glad people love the rakii so far! Developing them is great and since I've been fixated on them. Me and the bf have been brainstorming a lot in the background as I want to fill their universe well enough for others to explore. But I at least wanna let y'all know, I'm not soley a spec-evo artist (Let's be real, I understand only the basics), but I draw many of other things such as, 80s-90s retro shiz, robots (which i really get back into that groove) n, other stuff...

i had a thought (oh no). i've seen people say S2 Sylvie is cranky and confrontational because she's only starting the arc Loki is at the end of, but I feel like S2 Sylvie is written as though she has finished her arc, and that now she's freed the multiverse nothing remains to stop her fulfilling all her dreams by retiring to work in a McDonalds.
She will only return to the action to fulfill contractual obligations help out intermittently and unreliably with this new plot that has nothing to do with her other than being a direct consequence that neither she nor anyone else could have predicted because this plot does not actually follow on from the one she was part of before she didn't have all the necessary information about how this story would be dragged out while also not actually dealing with the situation(s) the end of S1. So she's annoyed to discover that things are still broken, but she's retired now and would prefer to be left alone.
Meanwhile Loki's arc is ongoing in S2 as he has yet to realise and accept that all this stuff about Free Will was bullshit and he is literally doomed by the narrative and can best serve those he cares about by becoming a cable tidy.

to be completely frank i think most of the people i've seen with major complaints regarding RGG 8's story are forgetting that 99% of what they're saying can be applied across the whole series
#this is not aimed at anyone in particular i've seen these sentiments all over#but things like 'well the story was mid' ok well come back to me after you've replayed yakuza kiwami. no optional majima everywhere allowed#and things like the ending falling flat - sure. but so did 7's#the pacing in the end chapter + chekhov's failboy were like. huh???#i'm never gonna call RGGS perfect but they're NOT regressing at all.#if anything gaiden and 8 have got me extremely hopeful for whatever comes next#like it's their 20th anniversary this year they've left so many loose ends in 8 they can carry on from they've got forever to keep going#MY only complaint is that they couldn't have retrofitted more of gaiden into IW but i can't exactly fault them for that#idk for all of the dooming i'm seeing i want to say something more positive about the game as a whole#even if this post is still pretty doom & gloom#people just let their expectations get way too high for this one game and i'm not even sure how that happened in most cases#it met all of mine - hell it EXCEEDED them. but i recognise i may be privileged on that front lol <- kashiwagi likers are eating so well rn#text#8#again i don't mean to attack anyone in particular it's just a general frustration i've been having#and i only hope that if there comes a time when people play over again that they're able to dig further into the meat of the story#and recognise that this game isn't uniquely 'shit' or 'mid'

#911 lone star#repeat after me#owen is not the main character because this is an ensemble show#i mean as a general rule you really should stay out of people's inboxes to bitch at them about something you know they don't agree with#but also people are allowed to call out the show for trying to get clout for diversity and then making it the owen strand show#and not even the 'owen strand is sooo good at being fire captain' show which would at least get us firecrew scenes!#it's now the 'owen does anything BUT fire captain because that's basically like sitting on the bench' show#which is a shame because there are a billion police/fbi procedurals i could watch if i wanted to#but i don't i want the found family hopeful wholesome 911-verse#and when owen IS being captain or being dad to TK or one of the team or a friend for the other captains his scenes are so good!!#i love those scenes and they give us more content for the other ensemble characters#and THAT is a lot of the complaint about the screetime is that it's majorly going to one character doing outside stuff#so not only is it not centered on the other characters but they don't even hardly get to be involved!#ANWAY#don't mind me just tired of hearing people say no one can be mad because owen is the main character#if this was a show with 2 mains and a handful of supporting characters or the show was named after owen in some way i'd get it#but literally he isn't the main character and that is why people are upset

correct me if I'm wrong but I was just thinking about the roykeeley in season two of it all, and that fight where Keeley loses it at Roy for being clingy because she can't handle how close they are now that they work in the same building but like,,, Keeley and Roy would have been working in the same building while dating for a good chunk of season one as well.
She started working at Nelson Road before Jamie was even sent back to Manchester. They would of had months working in the same building, so either Roy has always been that clingy and Keeley just didn't mind at first, which I found doubtful given that it only takes her like a week to blow up at him for it in season two, or Roy being clingy is an out of character thing for him to be doing that should've raised some kind of red flag to friends and loved ones that I feel like from what we know about Keeley as a character would've been treated with more empathy than she actually had in the show.
#i'm going off of memory so this might not be anything#but wasn't one of her complaints that he sat quietly in her office reading when they were on break?#girl how is that being clingy and not just regular levels of wanting to spend time with your partner?#I stand by that Roy wasn't in the wrong for that#I actually stand by Roy not being in the wrong for MOST of his relationship with Keeley#I don't even think he was wrong for breaking up with her#I will not ever view breaking off a relationship you aren't happy in as selfish#and I don't care how much the show tries to make me view him as selfish for it or like he threw something good away#no he didn't#just because Keeley was hurt by being broken up with (understandable reaction) does not mean Roy did the wrong thing by breaking up with he#he looked at the way their relationship was going and saw that he wouldn't be happy if he stayed so he left#and the show tried to frame that as a bad thing#“maybe i should've just stuck around and enjoyed it”#no sir that's not how these things work#staying in a failing relationship just because you don't want to be alone isn't healthy you did the right thing#your career and your love life aren't metaphors for each other#and let me be clear Roy and Keeley were 100% a failing relationship right from the start of season 2 with the fight that inspired this post#keeley's feelings about the breakup aren't more valid then Roy's just because she's the hurt party#and they clearly broke up amicably if Keeley is willing to sit down and tell Phoebe about it with him#she wasn't jilted or wronged in any way and the show framing it like that grinds my fucking gears

things i would change in lita if i were in charge:
put Rain in a dorm room instead of living at home
a large part of why Phayu/Rain doesn't work for me is because we don't get to see Rain develop on his own...ever, really. he's in college, but he's living at home, living off his parents' money, still updating his mom on his where abouts like he's in high school. he goes from being closely entwined with/dependent on them to being highly dependent on Phayu. Phayu/Rain didn't come off as "Rain's making stupid and risky decisions but that's part of growing up," which i would've enjoyed, it comes off as ".....no, seriously Rain, can you make this decision?"
moving Rain into a dorm would've given him some much needed independence. even if though he would've still been reliant on his parents financially, there's still the growth that comes from being away from your parents' daily influence, managing your own space, managing your own personal well-being, etc. that would've been Rain's starting point for independent growth. vs canon, where Rain's start in independent growth was an intensely sexual relationship with a highly independent guy (nooot really anything i'm comfortable with myself). Rain can enjoy being coddled/spoiled/etc (which i like! good for him!), but the writers never gave him a chance to figure out who he was on his own, so the relationship as is doesn't land for me :/
more Phayu interacting with the garage family
i really like the glimpses of Phayu's character that we get. he has a lot of contradictions that look like so much fun to explore, but his characterization often gets shuffled to the side in favor of kink. the most interesting Phayu scenes are always the ones where it's not just him and Rain which......really sucks. the Prapai/Sky sex scenes reveal a lot about them as individual characters as well as how they interact with each other. Phayu/Rain sex scenes kinda touch on how they act together, but the main thing they do is tell me more than i want to know about the writers' personal kinks. hell, most of what Rain learns about Phayu as a person is discovered through other people--which is really annoying! i want to be learning more about this guy through his interactions with Rain, not primarily the gossip other people tell Rain. that doesn't happen until like, ep6-7, which is the literal end of their personal arc and mostly spent away from each other. sighs.
more Saifah
quality character, highly underutilized. i love his eyerolls, but the writers never really did much with him to bring him past that point :( i can extrapolate a lot, but canon developed Sig in the second half of the show more than they did Saifah for all of it. Saifah is Phayu's literal twin brother and business partner, and some random architect student got more of a character than him. this is not a complaint on Sig, i fucking adore that guy, but it's a bizarre writing choice.

seriously. what the fuck. TWO kidnapping scenarios, the entire reason why i watched this show, and you guys couldn't cut out any of the 1905t59488993e repeated scenes to give me more than 2 minutes of kidnapping aftermath? who the fuck even cares about trucks driving on roads
things i would not change in lita if i were in charge:
Chai showing up to rescue Phayu and Rain wearing a zebra print shirt. sensational. 10/10, no notes
#love in the air#didn't mean for this to be so heavy on phayu/rain but there's not really anything i'd change about prapai/sky#their arc has settled in my brain and rattled me to my bones#the only thing i'm >:( on is the lack of kidnapping aftermath#and the way the mafia was utilized but thats what crossovers are for#but phayu/rain........sighs#the writers clearly have a big/little kink#not my kink but cool for them#but college graduate / college freshman isn't a huge age/experience difference#so they massively exaggerated it by making Rain as literal childish* as they could while making Phayu over competent**#by not developing the first part of Phayu/Rain properly the second half doesn't land#*childish as in still dependent on parents/still living at home/still hugely naive like a child with little *chance* for independent growth#**except in rescuing boyfriends from kidnapping. i have no complaints its fucking great i wouldnt change a single thing#the other odd thing about the Phayu/Rain big/little kink is that it clashes badly with the fantastic point they made with Sky's arc#and how his age+gen isolation+lack of grown experiences#left him extremely vulnerable to Gun's manipulations and grooming#SIGHS

So much of the sentiments I see directed towards socially alienated people relies on personal control alone. It's always 'You need to have the courage to ask for help and to reach out for others first!' while the absolute shame of the fact that nobody actually wants to help you is sort of just glossed over.
How do I say this... ideas like 'other people are kinder than you think' and 'if you communicate, people will want to work with you' are really threatening to me. Not because of a cynical belief that other people are bad but because of how it applies to personal reality. I know the idea that other people are kind and want to help others is true, because I can see how it works for everyone else, I observe people showing kindness and concern and effort for each other every day.
So when people you respect or view as kind and considerate won't say anything to you, it feels like the only good interpretation is that you are a person that is not worth being kind to.

I think I somehow managed to softlock my twilight princess save
#I'm out of arrows and trying to do the king bulblin fight that requires you to shoot him#but there's no pots or anything around to smash to get arrows#the enemies aren't dropping arrows#the bridge of eldin is broken so I can't go to kakariko to buy arrows#the lake hylia bridge is blocked off until I defeat the boss#malo mart isn't open yet because I can't go to kakariko#I can't find any other shops in castle town that sell arrows#can't warp because not wolf link#and. my biggest complaint about twilight princess so far#the game is very very rigid#it's leading you from setpiece to setpiece#and everything is hard coded to only have one solution#even when another solution would make just as much sense#so king bulblin can *only* be damaged by arrows#neither the boomerang nor slingshot pellets do anything to him#they just go right through him#...and I have plenty of slingshot ammo. why#maybe bombs will work. idk if I have it in me to try#apparently arrows are a rare drop from archer bokoblins?#but I cannot get them to drop#I've been whacking archers for 30 minutes

#this is just a long complaint#i cannot find a single korean musician or singer or band that i consistently like#there will be one or two songs that are palatable and the rest are all astonishingly mediocre at best and tragically awful at worst#i have found exactly one song that i actually love#and all the others are just songs that don't make my ears bleed (but aren't anything I'd listen to if I wasn't trying to learn korean)#and most of the time that means putting up with the worst possible lyrics for the sake of the fact that at least i like the tune and singer#granted i don't tend to like indie or pop and it's hard to find a band that isn't one or the other or both#i know that statistically there has to be a korean artist out there somewhere that i will like#but this is such a slog#listening to music shouldn't be an exhausting process but here we are#at this point i'd give an arm and a leg for one (1) album that doesn't have multiple songs that activate my gag reflex
