hehehehhee hey guys so the first paragraph of this was deleted and i JUST noticed so im gonna retype this whole thing.
okay hi, again, so in honor of me hitting 200+, i made a poll and one of the top choices was an event, so here u go :3 this event is based off of xikers' new album: HOUSE OF TRICKY: Trial And Error, aka one of the best releases so far hehe anyways thank u guys for 200 and im working on the server with someone rn giggles.. okay rules are down below

9:37AM. It was Thursday morning, only a few days after Alexis was born. You rolled over in the king size bed to find Kelly wasn’t beside you. Looking beside you, you could see Alexis wasn’t in her bassinet either.
Still sore from surgery, you slowly put your slippers on and went to the living room to find the rest of your family. Kelly was laying on the couch, shirtless, with Alexis on his chest and a blanket covering them while watching SportsCenter. Reaching down, you rubbed his shoulder to get his attention.
“How long you been here?” You asked, sitting beside him on the couch.
“Less than an hour I think. I didn’t want to wake you, I know you’re exhausted, so I fed her a bottle and we’ve been watching highlights of the Blackhawks game,” he replied with a smile.
“Your mom texted me last night.”
“Oh yeah? What did she say?”
“Said you texted her about the baby. She wants to visit when we’re ready. She can come today if that works for you.”
He nodded.
“Can you grab my phone?” He asked, “the new lieutenant officially starts today and Cruz was gonna text me about who they got.”
You wandered back into the bedroom and found his phone still charging on his nightstand. Looking at the notifications on his screen, there was a text from Boden.
Fixing your eyes on the screen of his phone, Boden had texted “call me.”
“No text from Cruz, just Boden,” you announced.
“What’d he say?”
“Call me.”
“That can’t be good.”
“Probably not. Want me to take Alexis so you can call him?”
Kelly pulled back the blanket and began to laugh. Once you saw what he had done, you started to laugh too.
“You wrapped the baby?” You chuckled, looking at the Moby Wrap you received from your baby shower wrapped around him and Alexis.
“Hands free,” he laughed.
“Coffee?”
“Sure.”
As you wandered to the kitchen, you saw Kelly mute the tv and call Boden, all while Alexis was sleeping on his chest.
A few moments later, you came back to the couch with two coffees in hand. Alexis had started to fuss as Kelly hung up the phone.
“What did Boden want?” You asked, handing him one of the fresh coffees from your hands.
“New lieutenant didn’t show up for work today,” he replied.
“Who did they get in for you?”
“Connor Maxwell, used to be an engine lieutenant before he got his squad certs.”
“Do they know what happened?”
“Boden says the guy overslept, but he doesn’t buy it. They’re gonna let him stay for the shift and cut him loose if it doesn’t go well.”
As Kelly told you about this squad lieutenant, he got a look of desperation in his eyes.
“What’s wrong?” You asked.
“I’m a little worried about my men.”
“Why, baby?”
“I’ve never been taken a furlough this long in a very long time.”
“Are you scared they’re gonna like this new lieutenant more than you?” You laughed, rubbing his shoulder.
“I just don’t want my company to go to hell while I’m gone,” he chuckled, kissing your forehead.
“How much time did you take off?
“I told Boden 8 weeks.”
“Is there a way you can go back early?”
“I guess I could, but I want to be here for you and our baby.”
Alexis began to fuss, still wrapped with her dad.
“I’ll take her, babe. She’s probably hungry.”
Kelly unwrapped Alexis and handed her to you. You raised your shirt, exposing yourself in order to feed your baby.
“I’m sure we’ll be fine here, if you want to go back early, Kelly,” you told him.
“I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed or like I want to work more than be home with our brand new baby.”
“I’ve got 8 months of leave. You would’ve had to leave me home with Alexis by myself when you’re on shift regardless.”
“I know, I know, I just hoped she’d be a little older first.”
“It’s like 3 days a week max, I’m sure we’ll be okay if you want to go back early,” you smiled, adjusting your head’s position to leaning on his shoulder, “I know you love your job and I know you love us, but we’ll be okay if this is what you want.”
“Are you sure?” He asked, wrapping his arm around you.
“Kelly, would I ever lie to you?”
“I guess I have my answer then.”
“You should call Boden and tell him there’s been a change of plans,” you gestured to his phone on the side table.
He grabbed his phone and you finished feeding Alexis. Kelly put his phone on speaker phone as you burped Alexis.
“Kelly, how’s the father life treating you?” Boden asked him as he picked up. You could hear his smile through the phone.
“Ah, Chief it couldn’t be better,” Kelly grinned, “do you have a minute?”
“Sure, what’s on your mind?”
“I was thinking about coming back to work a little earlier than what I originally planned.”
“When were you thinking?”
“Next shift, if you’ll let me.”
“Can’t stay away too long, huh?”
“What can I say? It’s in my blood,” Kelly chuckled.
“Actually though Kelly, is your wife okay with this? You sure you don’t want to take some time with your baby?”
“We’ve talked it over, it was kinda her idea actually.”
“I know he’s missing it, I’ll be okay if he goes back,” you piped up.
“Well, I still haven’t filled your spot for next shift. You’re welcome to it if you want it.”
“Thanks, Chief. I’ll be there.”
Kelly hung up the phone and turned to look at you.
“You’re really sure?” He asked, leaning in to give you a kiss.
“Yes, Kelly, I’ll be fine. Maybe I’ll even bring her over to the firehouse when you’re on shift,” you replied, “you don’t have to be worried.”
“I love you, thank you for being everything I wanted in life.”
You leaned over and hugged him with one arm, Alexis dozing in the other.
“Can you take her so I can have a quick shower? I still feel like hospital.”
“Of course baby, do what you need.”
You handed over Alexis to her father and just the sight of the two of them together melted your heart.
“Oh babe, question for you,” Kelly asked as you were headed to grab your house coat, “do we have more bottles? Or should I clean a couple for later?”
“Uh,” you were wracking your brain, trying to figure out where your nesting brain put them, “I think they’re in the drawer by the fridge, but honestly I don’t remember.”
Changing out of your clothes and into your bathrobe, you couldn’t help but notice the horizontal scar on your stomach. It was still a little painful when your hand brushed it, but the pain didn’t matter because you had your baby. The perfect baby, with the perfect husband. You didn’t need anything else.
Turning on the water and getting in the shower, Kelly knocked on the bathroom door.
“I hate to interrupt you,” he chuckled, “but there’s someone here who you’re going to want to see.”
“Can it wait until after my shower? I’ll be quick, I promise. Ask if they can wait?” You asked, shampoo already lathered in your hair.
“Yeah, we’ll be out here.”
Kelly closed the door behind him and the thought of who could be here for you raced through your mind as you quickly finished your shower. After finishing up and drying off, you threw your hair up in a messy bun and put on your sweats to go see your visitor.
“Babe, I made some breakfast for the four of us,” Kelly told you, setting the table.
“Who’s here? And where’s Alexis?” You asked.
“Hi, sweetie,” a familiar voice beamed.
“Mom, what are you doing here?” You asked.
“I came to apologize,” she said, “I’m so sorry for what I said.”
Without saying a word, you walked over to your mom and gave her the tightest hug of your life. A couple tears filled your eyes.
“You want to meet your granddaughter?” You asked, motioning to Kelly to remove Alexis from the wrap.
“Yeah, I’d love you,” she smiled.
Handing over your daughter to your own mother was such a special experience for both of you.
“Kelly can you take a picture?” You asked.
“Oh, honey, I just got off a plane, I look awful.”
“Mom, you look great. I want to remember this.”
Kelly grabbed his phone from the counter and took a picture of the three of you together.
“I also came for another reason,” she admitted, sitting down at the table, “Kelly and I were talking while you were finishing your shower. He told me he’s going back to work earlier than expected. I already called back home and I’ve made arrangements to stay with you for a week or two.”
“Mom, you didn’t have to do that.”
“Yes I did, my daughter had my first granddaughter. I need to be here with you.”
“I’ll be fine on my own while Kelly is on shift, you don’t need to help me.”
“Well, then I’ll explore Chicago. I’ve never had the chance to do some sightseeing here.”
You nodded and brought Alexis’ motorized baby swing closer to the table.
“Set her in the swing while we eat, you can hold her after,” you offered.
Your mom set Alexis in the swing and it bangan to slowly swing side to side.
“So Kelly, when are you back to work?” your mom asked.
“Tomorrow morning,” he said, grabbing some more bacon from the counter.
“That’s quick,” she replied.
“Yeah, only missed two shifts, but I know my girls will be okay for 24 hours without me.”

@tripleyeeett You are SO FREAKING AMAZING AT WRITING ASTARION and so funny and down to earth and I love your no-bullshit attitude and nerding about BG3 and all sorts of stuff.
Also, I know that they haven't been posting stories for a while, but I do also want to shout out @asteralpine (kaeorin on AO3) - their Loki's Lullabies series was my first introduction to Loki fics (back in 2021); part of why I made a new tumblr account was to be able to share their stories, but more importantly I don't think I would have even started WEMTBB if I hadn't discovered the Lullabies! I have slowly been working on a mega post of all my favorite stories from the series and why I love them so much, but I'm starting to think it's going to be a multi-part post because with over 250 entries in the series, there are too many to fit in one post. These days, the lullabies can only be found on AO3 and you need to be logged in to read them, but I highly, highly recommend them. Oh, and also, there are other non-lullaby stories, and they also are all A+.

Problem
Okay I got a problem and I'm sure some of the other writers on here can agree. I know I've covered this briefly before and I know @lay-z is also pretty passionate about this topic but its the topic of silent readers or just simply liking a post here on Tumblr
I know Tumblr is weird, it has its own system of giving reach. It's not like twitter or Instagram where likes bring your post further, in truth likes don't do anything. In the early days of Tumblr, we didn't even have the like system, the like system was made as sort of a bookmark on a post instead of actually giving reach.
The ways to support your favourite writers is reblogging actually, reblogging brings a writer to more people, more people means more reach and the more that writer will wanna produce more work like that. I know it sounds greedy and trust me, we writers are greedy for the reach but I believe we have a right to be. I only have 250 followers are here that I've gained since early June I believe, my old account I had somewhere close to 1200? And even with that bigger follower pool, I was still struggling to bring new readers
You may be thinking though "my blog isn't made for writing, that's why I don't reblog" and hey that's fine. I get it, you don't wanna clutter your blog with stuff that doesn't fit but you know what you can do then? You can comment on the post, commenting also gives feedback because commenting brings notes, notes bring reach, reach brings more feedback which writers are starving for
Here's one thing that upsets me more though; silent readers. People who read your stuff yet don't react at all. Especially when these silent readers sneak into my dms and say how much they love me and my work. If that was true, why aren't you reacting on it?
People try to excuse silent readers too much I believe, they aren't something that should be praised because you know what message that sends? That not reacting is okay. It's not, it makes so many writers leave this platform. Why would I writer stay here on Tumblr where they are flooded by silent readers who give zero reach or feedback when they can go to AO3 where readers are more generous. The only reason I haven't fled Tumblr yet is that I enjoy writing on it and how I can organise my work but with the lakc of reach lately, it's getting tempting to leave
True I write for my own enjoyment but I also write for feedback and reach, I love seeing people love the work I put hours sometimes days in. Silent readers just don't do that, they swoop in, take, and leave nothing behind.
If someone made you really good food, are you just gonna finish and leave? No you're gonna thank you gave you food and tell them how good it was, why is it different for writers on here? We're people who put our time to write stuff for your enjoyment
Respect your writers and artists, respect the people who put hours and days into your enjoyment

it’s interesting that engagement on tumblr and twitter is so high right now but it doesn’t seem to be transferring to more engagement on art? i have twice the number of followers on here and on twitter that i did six months ago but interactions on new fics is half of what it was for similar ones at the beginning of the year and i’ve seen some other writers talking about the same thing. i wonder if it’s because there’s more dream team content now? so people are naturally more invested in short form, immediate content like liveblogging than more of a free time filler like reading fics. i know i’m reading less than i was during content droughts (sorry for essay andying in your inbox lmao your post just got me thinking)
no no my ask box says essay andys welcome i think unless i changed it and that is interesting! i dont personally write or create fanart but over the past 9 months my clips have probably gone up from an average 210-250 notes to 300. i thought it was just blog growth and more tumblr users but idk your theory on immediate content gives immediate fan reaction and engagement does seem quite likely.
maybe also a summer thing? more things to do and people are more likely to go outside and be busy rather than stay in reading?
i also wonder, there are obviously quite a lot more newer hispanic fans i think, especially on twitter. i genuinely dont know at all, but they might be more likely to reblog and tweet about clips and streams, and even read spanish fanfiction rather than read english fanfiction? <- again i really dont know about this at all.
#but i also agree i am reading less than i was in content droughts#i hope ur not discouraged though anon :( there is always a very loved place for all fan content and don't be disheartened at all by it#i think the fanfiction side did take a larger hit from oct as well so maybe it just needs more time to build up?

just a quick post. i was reading a few article on how to identify bot accounts and discover that i may be miss identified as a bot/spam account since i’m new and dont know much about this wild west of a platform.
so I am here to help assist other newcomers with a summary of my research, keeping in mind I’ve only been here for a day so if someone more experienced is giving out advice theirs is probably better.
1. bot/spam accounts generally have a default icon and background. (fixed this up first thing i did after making the account was add an icon and i just uploaded a background)
Recommend course of action: add an Icon and background as soon as possible. and maybe play around with you theme a bit.
2.username looks inappropriate or spam like. (this isn’t a problem for me since i didn’t do this because why would I)
Recommend course of action: just don’t, if you may have made this mistake, best to change it.
3. a blog is sending messages that are asking if you want content that is potentially nsfw, example ‘do you want pictures of n***d women on your phone’
Recommend course of action: report and block. i speak from experience, i got one of these messages and didn’t even finish reading it before blocking and reporting. also don’t send this type of message to people wether or not they think you are a bot that would make anyone uncomfortable and explicit content is against community guidelines.
4. apparently like strings on accounts and large amounts of reblogging are suspicious.
so say you go to someone account and read like there art or something and you like everything there. apparently 10 or more likes on one account within a short time period is considered a like string.
this is one I found myself guilty of, so what happened was I found the account of someone who made a series of tutorials on how to draw kobolds that I had found in pinterest so I followed the and i wanted like all the tutorials (there where 10) but i decided that liking just the tutorials seemed suspicious so i liked some art in between (it’s good art.) i now see that liking just the tutorials would have not been as suspicious. to that person, sorry for the spam likes, I have learned my lesson.
Reblogging, so something like 40 or more rebloggs in a day with little context, than nothing for a few days looks suspicious.
Recommend course of action:
like strings; of you come across an account you really like just like 3 or 4 posts and follow. you will get another chance to like more.
Reblogging; i don’t see this one being much of a problem if you just casually use tumblr. I myself have spent some time (but not all my time) on tumblr and Liked around 250 posts over 24 hours but have only reblogged 12 (which is probably still a lot) but i have also added something with the reblog such as a comment along with the normal tags people usually only put (i feel bad reblogging without contributing something). the only way i think you would reach a number like 40+ is if you are on all day with nothing else to do and are reblogging every third post you see (not that i’m judging, apparently reblogging helps more that likes.) or you are reblogging reblogs in response to them on a post that went viral. if you are adding to those i don’t really think that would be suspicious. And try not to reblog too many posts from one blog in a short amount of time that seems very spammy
REPOSTING IS NOT THE SAME AS REBLOGGING
reblogging, if you like the reblog it likes the original post. this is helping in most cases from what i’ve read. (just try not to over do it.)
reposting is copying the image or text (some cases both) and uploading it on your own, often done without permission form or crediting the original author. this is not helpful, if you have permission form the original author and you credit them, that should be ok.
yet again, i am also new and may be mistaken about some of the stuff here. this is based on personal experience and research i’ve done.
hope this helps others new users to this wild west. I intend on posting my art soon i just need to get it all together first, that i can upload a few pieces at a time.
If you are an experienced user who has any corrections of stuff to add I’m sure new users like myself would love the help.

Robbie Daymond: Yeah, that's wild, right? That's a unique to Critical Role sort of pre-show that you don't see many other places do. It was fun, man. It's like the wild, wild west! Like, they just threw stuff at me. And I think that they gave me a few softballs right off the bat and then they were like, "Oh, he can play, let's go."
So it evolved from being, "Hey, here's a script, think about it. You've got 10 minutes before we record this." And then it got to the point where the night before Sam says, "Hey, I wrote this like Dave Matthews thing, you can play guitar right?" And I was like "Uh, okay." When I get there, and they're like, "OK, here's the loosely-based script that we're going to do, but basically we're just going to wing it." there is something so precious (as in beautifully rare) about the way Zerxus treats Asmodeus. yes i understand that canonically Asmodeus is a Capital M Manipulator and that this is likely still canon in Exandrian lore, but what a brilliant way to show that Zerxus' compassion is literally limitless.

i love how much love they're animating into vax. that was a character that so many people underestimated and just tagged as 'sad boi' because of how his story ends but so few remembered how full of warmth and charm and softness vax was. he was goofy and protective and wanted the best for his sister and fell a little bit in love with every person he met. i'm so happy i can still see that in the animation version of him.

My favourite thing from the "Cersei used to swap places with Jaime so she could have sword fighting and politics lessons" is that it implies that Jaime wore a dress and went to Cersei's embroidery and sewing lessons. I have yet to see anyone address this beyond a vague 'yea, Jaime pretended to be Cersei with a dress'. guys. guys. Jaime probably had to attend multiple lessons with a septa and learn how to make pretty stitches. Fuck all your 'Cersei is a great lord and mother but a bad queen' rants, I want to hear your 'Jaime is a good lady and knight but a bad lord' rants. Give me detailed analysis of what lady lessons Jaime would be best in. I bet that it's dancing and one time with Brienne he got distracted and started doing all the lady's moves by instinct and everyone watching just blue-screened because he is way better and more practised at the feminine moves than the masculine ones.

Oh my heavens, I'm flattered. And I'm sorry it took me forever to respond! I was out of town and seeing family so I tried not to be on Tumblr that much. But I saw I got an ask and didn't have time to read it. I've had a sucky couple days (really fun to drive to another state to see family just to get horribly sick & then be nervous about spreading it when you go to a reception you know lots of elderly people will be at), and seeing this and reading what it actually says really made my day.

This ask blog thing we've got going for characters. I only use this for rp. And I used to rp before on another site but it...wasn't that great? People took it way too seriously. Like, they were more worried about a word count than the story and characters and having fun. And personally I find word counts to be the least important in rp (I do understand wanting to have long paragraphs in some rps but I would never get mad at someone for having 230 words instead of 250). So I stopped because that sucked. But if I can send an ask to you or another blog like yours, I get a little taste of rp in a way that doesn't suck. And I've had WAY more fun than I thought I would and it's become way more of a thing for me. It started out as just anon asks since I don't use my main blog, I only use a side blog. I went and made a whole new account for this because I was having fun.
Family. Had a family get together this week so I've been having fun with them. They're family I haven't seen in forever too (they live on the East Coast and I live in a Western state) so it's great. And I've been seeing family a lot more lately since I'm going to live out of the country temporarily and I have a few cousins doing similar things, so we've been seeing each other more often to make up for the time we won't see each other. But I just love my family. My relationships aren't perfect by any means. But I know they won't abandon me because of something big or small.
So, I'll be living in Brazil temporarily, and I know no Portuguese. So I've been using Duolingo to learn some basics. And I took five years of Spanish between middle and high school, but that was pre-covid and I've lost a lot of it since then. But it's almost like I'm relearning Spanish as I'm learning Portuguese. Because in some ways Portuguese feels like Spanish that is written completely differently and has a very different accent. So far with the most basic of the basics, I can understand Portuguese if spoken and I can kind of speak it (still trying to get the handle of Portuguese pronunciation instead of Spanish pronunciation), but reading and writing is so much harder because there's different characters and everything is spelled way different (yo vs. eu). But then there's words that look like they might be exactly the same (como and bebo) but so far Duolingo has only shown me the one conjugation so I don't know what's going on with anything else or what the infinitive is. But it's actually so much fun. I'm relearning one language while learning another. And I have a knack for languages in general and enjoying learning languages, so this is really fun for me.
Writing. Writing fanfiction is just so fun and therapeutic and makes my brain go insane with happiness. All of my fics are linked on my other account, and to be honest I don't know if they'd appeal to any of the people I've interacted with here (you wouldn't guess that I don't have any Doctor Strange fics, would you? Stephen is a big deal in one of my Loki fics though, and I'm planning out some fics for Stephen and variants, but from this blog you'd think Stephen is my favorite when he actually isn't! He is in my top 4 though! Loki, Bucky, Coulson, Stephen, order can vary. Now that I got that tangent out of the way...).
Food. I love food. And I love cooking. I don't normally talk religiously (yes, I am Christian, a minority in Christianity too, I was harassed on a side blog on my other account by someone saying that Christians can't be queer and they called me terrible things so I don't feel comfortable talking about it that often any more), but the fact that we have both the ability to taste and so many ingredients that can be cooked and combined in delicious ways, at least to me, is very strong evidence that God loves us. Currently in a big nutella thing. Also, since I'm going to Brazil, people having been giving me Guaraná Soda, this Brazilian pop that tastes amazing, and I may have been looking up where I can buy it in the States by my house. Sushi is also extremely delicious. And I could go on and on but I'll stop now to save you all time.

How to tell a theatre reviewer doesn't know as much about Shakespeare as they'd like you to think:-
- they say a production of "Richard III" is too funny
- they say a production of "Cymbeline" is too weird
- they say a production of "Coriolanus" is too gay
- they say anything bad ever about Jade Anouka's Shakespearean acting (NB if they do this it also means they are almost certainly a massive bigot)
- they criticise a production of "Macbeth" for being too straightforward and as-written
- they criticise a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for not being straightforward and as-written "enough"

Today being the birthday of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins (September 22nd, that is).
Here are some suggestions for things to do to celebrate:-
- eat mushrooms
- and/or po-ta-toes
- and/or fisheseseses
- have two breakfasts
- be generally lovely and compassionate, but never in awe of anyone
- drink beer (alcoholic or non-alcoholic as you prefer)

People can be very down here on those who only leave kudos rather than a comment on AO3. And just. I love comments, don’t get me wrong. They fill me with joy!
But getting those emails that something I wrote weeks or months or years ago has got a new kudos or two still absolutely delights me. Please don’t underestimate how wonderful and heartening that is.
Similarly, reblogs here on tumblr are the *best* and are how things get noticed and spread given the way tumblr works, but that doesn’t mean I don’t notice or am not very pleased when some thoughts or a ficlet I wrote here gets a heart too.
I know how much energy it takes sometimes to leave a comment or to reblog something. Far too much, sometimes. Far, far too much. And knowing that my efforts are appreciated even with just a click of a button... still special and good. And sometimes I’m worried that all the “don’t like, reblog!” posts on here discourage people from doing that because they feel like it’s worse to like but not reblog than to not react at all, and... no. No, really no.
To conclude: comments and reblogs are the best. But kudos and likes are still good and encouraging things! If you want to show appreciation for something I’ve written or made? Then a) thank you, how lovely of you! <3, b) please don’t be put off doing it in a way that actually works for you. <3

HELP we had a woman in the library just now CLEARLY reading from a list of books being targeted for censorship in public & school libraries (presumably so she can read them & turn around to bitch about how they’re corrupting the children & need to be removed) & me, being an utter shit, checked out looking for alaska & the perks of being a wallflower for her, gave her a big smile and went “oh wow, you have GREAT taste—these were two of my favorites in high school!!!!!!” (which is true) and she looked like she bit into a lemon
listen she didn’t say why she was checking them out so i can only assume it’s due to her love of excellent 90s & 2000s ya fiction 😇😇😇😇

i have a standing bi-weekly appointment for a medical treatment, and i ended up missing a few appointments in a row for various reasons. and when i came back to the infusion center earlier this week, the nurses couldn’t stop saying that they really missed me & were wondering why i hadn’t been in
it had never occurred to me that i was anything more than a job duty to them. it never occurred to me that they’d miss seeing me, even though i know that i miss seeing regular library patrons & wonder where they are when they’re away. i just never put two & two together that way
so yes, people would notice if you disappeared off the face of the earth tomorrow. yes, people smile to themselves when you walk in the door. yes, your presence matters to far more people than you realize

seriously, teenagers are the absolute hardest group to engage at most libraries & we'll often organize programs that absolutely no one will show up to & it sucks. if you go up to a public librarian & say "hey, some friends & i want to do this thing. does that sound like a feasible teen program for the library?" most people will move heaven & earth to pull it off for you because we know there's an interest in our community. we will go balls to the freaking wall to make it happen
do you want a cosplay contest? a video game tournament? a free escape room? bring it up to the library. it's not a burden or an annoyance at all. it'll be like christmas came early for us

I think sometimes when I am caustic about a TV show that I actually love, it's because I am fundamentally angry that I got tricked into caring about it by people who, in retrospect, it feels like did not care about the show, or me, or what the show was to me. I don't know how to respond to that except angrily, and I prefer my undying anger cut with as much humor as possible. I don't mind loving something imperfect, but I truly resent being treated like a fool for investing in something, like that is actually extremely hurtful to me. And it makes me not want to be fair to the creators, who yes, were sometimes very clever and thoughtful, though other times overly slick and careless and inattentive. And I can, in some moods, parse out my positive and negative reactions to various bits of things with some equanimity, but in other moods I'm really just very angry about being yet again That Idiot who trusted people who were mostly just fucking with me to get a reaction, as bullies do. And then I'm not always fair, I know.
I look at my Magicians tattoo every day, all through the course of my day. I think all the time about whether or not the world is beautiful enough to live in, if the stories we tell about our lives make them beautiful or if they are sad attempts to narcotize us against the utter emptiness. I think about being on a key quest every goddamn day, and maybe I should be more grateful to the writers for opening up those questions for me through a protagonist I think would absolutely get exactly what I mean when I say that. But then -- I also do not think the writers very much liked that protagonist, or that if they knew me they would like or understand me at all, and gratitude still feels slightly out of my reach.
So if I sometimes talk about The Magicians as if it were "bad," that is admittedly a stripping-out of a lot of nuance. The reality is that I think it's a show that failed -- that failed to solve its problems or answer its questions, mostly because over and over it seemed to get bored and drop things as though nothing truly mattered and everything was disposable, which I personally think makes it a show that failed to land on a human level. And a lot of things fail, but I really, really didn't want this one to. Sometimes that leads me to giving it a little too much credit, and sometimes I know I give it too little.

I have this theory that what's wrong with Quentin is literally just like -- college. I mean, things are "wrong" with him, in that he's non-neurotypical and almost certainly has a depressive disorder, but I think the actual reason he's so visibly stressed and angry and self-loathing is that there's no environment more ill-suited to managing stuff like that than a place where people are constantly exhorting you to make massive decisions and simultaneously submit to nearly constant external assessments and everyone around you either has power over you or is in direct competition with you and you're expected to hyperfocus on yourself and your goals and be ready and able to justify every choice you make, and they say if you can do that you'll be successful but if you can't that's called failure, and also you don't ever sleep or have any privacy and half of your emotions are still mostly or completely new to you. He is like 22 at the beginning of the show, and he's furious with himself for feeling broken, but he is 22 and he's just limped across the finish line of a notoriously irrational and inhumane educational system. Quentin's biggest problem is that he's not capable of repressing how beaten to shit he's been by the last few years, but I guarantee 90% of his classmates are equally fucked-up and neurotic, they're just hiding it better. Quentin's not a good hider of things, have you seen his face? It's not built for that.
Anyway then he goes to Brakebills, which is exactly like Columbia except exponentially more so and also he's been training for this for ten minutes instead of his whole life and he fully thinks he's going to be expelled just as randomly as he was admitted, and the institutional solution Brakebills has settled on for this phase of student life is Brakebills South, so what more can you say about that. The reason Quentin starts to get better once they all flee Brakebills is that academia is designed to ruin people. Fillory is too, but sometimes you're allowed to stab your problems, and that really seems to be liberating for Q.
There are probably flaws in my logic here, but. Sometimes you don't so much need a quest to fix you as you need to do adulthood badly for a little while and gradually do it less and less badly, which Quentin did in seasons 2 and 3, but I suspect he might've just naturally done anyway if he'd managed a movie theater or whatever during those years instead of going to the school where they shove demons under your flesh. I'm saying he maybe didn't have all that many problems that required intervention, so much as they required just letting up on himself for two seconds.

I think part of the origin story of a lot of queer acephobia -- and I’m going to stress this at the top and the bottom, I’m only interested in how dynamics like this come to be, I’m not here to absolve anyone of it, don’t be an acephobic weirdo, deal with your stuff -- is that you are a filthy pervert and you aren’t entitled to sex it’s not for you is a massive pain-point for allosexual queer people. Any interest at all that we express in sex is deviant, obscene, a mental illness, destructive, offensive, and predatory; sex is what’s wrong with us, and the message kind of soaks in that if we could be ourselves but minus the sex, or at least the acknowledgement of sex, we’d be allowable. Even back in the Deep Darkness of the 90s, I remember hearing people say nobody cares what you do in the bedroom, as long as you don’t shove it in anyone’s face. Maybe the people saying that believed it and maybe they didn’t, who knows. But it was easy to believe, at least on some level. Maybe it wasn’t your personhood that was unbearable, but just some particular action or expression that you could mask or moderate, at least where the straights could see you.
So I think if you’re coming from a place where a lot of your journey to deal with your own sexuality starts with that specific trauma -- like, I really can understand why the idea that asexual people are oppressed is hard to process. They’re doing what everyone told you you should do! They’re the ones who are being obedient and inoffensive and “safe” and “family friendly!” Of course that buys them approval. Everyone always told you that was what buys approval, and you went through so much, externally and internally, to come to a place where you could say you’d rather have the sex than the approval, but they never had to do that! They don’t even want the thing that was your monstrous flaw, how dare they think they understand what you’ve been through?
Idk, obviously no one story is everyone’s story, but whenever I hear an allosexual queer person being dismissive of the idea that asexuality is an axis of oppression, I get the strong feeling that I’m seeing the long shadow of someone’s internalized, visceral disgust of gay sex, manifesting as a resentment for people who never had to be disgusted by themselves in the same way. I have so much empathy for that, I honestly do, but it’s still not okay to be so wrapped up in your own trauma that you’re fundamentally incapable of listening to people who are traumatized in a different way from you. The way we’re treated isn’t fair, but it also isn’t the fault of asexual people, and the kicker is that straight people lied to us all along. They wouldn’t like us better or treat us with more dignity if we could just excise the sexual desire from our personalities -- ask an asexual person about that.

Then there's the fact that I don't interact often with those under 25 years of age. Except in retail environs.
Therefore to keep children safe, because I do not agree that anyone under the age of 21 is able to be cognizant of the responsibilities of adulthood.
["You live under my roof, you abide my rules" until such time you move out. Some, that's 18yo & I get that. I commend those people that have succeeded in life after such a push from the nest. Most women in the classical southern upbringing aren't going to experience such. No one in my family did. Maybe it would've helped me. But alas, the military was not God's Plan for me.]

If the blog owner is over the age of 21 years old then it be labeled as mature.
No matter what the blogs content is.**
And anyone who comes onto tumblr has to give full birthdate now.
So.
Block those under 21yo from any blog over said age.
That way you aren't flagging blog posts, & entire blogs, left & right over stupid crap.
That way it is based on a persons age.
Once that legality is taken care of if someone doesn't want to see blank, bot, porn... or any of the myriad of other things.....
THEY CAN KEEP SCROLLING OR UNFOLLOW ALTOGETHER.
But blogs that I would like to see, based on their reblogged posts, are unavailable to me because of this stupid labeling that is now obsolete.
That way it has nothing to do with individual blog content. But rather a simple age system for the entire site. It's not destroying something that people worked years to create.
It should theoretically lessen your workload exponentially.

I lost ~250+/- followers because I got tired of following the crowd & reblogging the same thing everyone else was doing. So I started talking about my life. Hoping that my struggles to escape domestic abuse, as well as my life's journey, my faith, might inspire someone. Or at least show people they are not alone.
Anyways.
Stepping off my soapbox now.
Be creative thinkers, not mindless automaton drones sheep.
The more music, movies, tv shows I see being recycled or/or altered to fit a particular mindset the more I wonder about this world.
Why I watch shows like 'Bones' & 'Mysteries of the unknown' more than any other type of programming.
I am tired of social engineering.
But if tumblr wants to simplify things & clean up an old programmer code mess...
Changing it to blog owner age across the board would simplify things like crazy.
I think I could do it in one line of code. [Been a long time, I admit that. But that's the household I live in.]

Around 250-300 without counting the traditional ones that I just. *eyes my sketchbooks* yeah I can't really count them and I'm not gonna try xD
2- How many works of art have you shared?
A bit less than half of that I think. I tried going to my archive for the tag "my art" but counting by hand is still a bit much (bc there's also old pieces I shared only now or reshared with the wrong tag (i usually use 'bringing this back' instead of my art tag for these) so yeaaa i stopped at 100 posts too lazy to count further)
5- What work are you most proud of (regardless of likes/reblogs)?
I mentioned the Snowmantis one in an earlier post so I'm gonna go with this one this time I gave it exactly the atmosphere I wanted and that's well let's say that's rare for me to nail what's in my brain to that extent ^-^
25- What is your favorite work that you created this year?
I don't know if it was quick to make or if I just got that impression because that's Donato but it was.. idk. it was a blast working on this. and I really think I did a good job with this

Bee and Puppycat Watch Guide
This is just how I would recommend watching it. Feel free to ignore this.
Start with the original pilot on YouTube.
Then watch the original season 1, also on YouTube.
Okay now, you have two options. You can start with the reanimated episodes that are the first three episodes of what Netflix labels as season 1, or you can skip to episode 4, which is where Lazy in Space starts (essentially season two). I would recommend skipping straight to ep 4. The reanimated episodes are good and add interesting information but as someone who watched Lazy in Space before it arrived on Netflix (don't judge me. this was way before we even knew Netflix was going to pick up Lazy in Space), I think it's better to experience it without the new info from 1-3 and everything else is stuff you already got from watching the pilot and original season 1 but slightly to the left because it's a little rearranged and condensed.
Now, that you have finished Lazy in Space, go back and watch ep 1-3 for the sweet animation and the new lore.

Brad: Parties in Gotham are on a different level, dude. I must have missed it on the invitation but one of the parties I went to was gas masked themed. Everyone was like super committed to the theme and kept giving me weird looks when they saw I hadn't brought one.
Dick: Was it back in January, when Scarecrow escaped?
Brad: Um, now that you mentioned it, yeah.
Jason: Then it wasn't a theme. The news read off one of Crane's gas threats. Smart that they all brought their gas masks. Dumb as shit that they still went out.
