okayy so i just finished watching that new disney peter pan remake (“peter pan and wendy”) (also spoiler warning btw-) and honestly. i liked it actually- like the pacing was a bit weird/kinda too fast imo and i’m not a fan of the ending (but to be fair that’s just bc i generally don’t like the ending where the lost boys leave neverland but peter doesn’t so that one isn’t the films fault), but other than that i think it was really good and fairly well made tbh. i would’ve liked some more musical numbers- like the two pirate sea shanties are okay and i don’t wanna complain but damn there’s so much music potential for a story like this tbh. like you could’ve had a song where peter pan actually sings or wendy (im ignoring the lullaby bc i want a song actually about her yk?) or maybe even a duet with them!!!!! i had hope for new music but well meh.

anyway!!! i loved almost all the visuals in the movie and the instrumental background music was really good too! i liked that it was very obviously inspired by the background music of the original tbh!! and i liked the casting tbh, i actually think all the actors did pretty good jobs !!

and the special effects were really good imo! like- not to compare this to the 2003 peter pan movie, but in that older one i always kinda cringed when characters flew around bc i just idk didn’t like how fake it looked- like obviously that’s bc of technical or budget (or both) limitations but still idk- but this time i actually rly liked the way they did the flying for the most part, especially in the scene where they flew to neverland. i also think the set design was really good!!

AND!!!!! i like how literally every aspect (except for the ending lmao) that i disliked in the animated movie was changed- like tinkerbell isn’t blinded by jealousy anymore, the native characters (or well in this case character, since tiger lilly was kinda the only plot relevant one) aren’t such flat caricatures anymore and hook didn’t act so unbelievably ridiculous yk? also i generally just like how well tinkerbell and wendy and tiger lilly got along tbh, because in the older film as we all know they were written in a almost misogynistic way tbh with the way they were reduced to jealousy so much yk? except for wendy kinda but eh. this modern version is SO MUCH BETTER at that, like i don’t think there was any scene where any of the three were really jealous at all unless i missed something lol.

like idk i just like it. it’s definitely different from the original story and from the older movie but not in a necessarily worse way. its similar enough to be familiar and nostalgic but different enough to have its own charme yk? like its no carbon copy and that’s a good thing because it doesn’t try to be and it doesn’t need to be. it humanised almost every character more (even though the pacing again was kinda not ideal lol but it was still enjoyable)!!

i just think it would’ve been good for the movie to have some more transitional scenes or to drag some moments out longer tbh. like there was no moment in my opinion that was really too long, which is good, but there were a few that i think should’ve been longer tbh. it felt not like the movie was rushed but like the viewer was rushed through the plot yk? like there weren’t really any moments to dwell on a situation or to let it sit, except for when wendy was swept onto that beach and when she walked the plank. those two moments were imo well timed. but like especially that scene in james’ peter’s room could’ve handled a few more moments, or the scene before peter left london again when he was talking to wendy yk?

anyway uwu the cinematography was rly well done too imo, and i definitely liked the fight scenes and that scene when they all arrive in neverland :3 and the set design was very good too !!! i also think i liked all the costumes except maybe wendy’s and hook’s jackets cuz like idk, they’re fine but i’m not vibing with them lol. anyway yeah sjdkdjkdjdk- peter pan’s and tinkerbell’s outfits were really good tho imo. and tinkerbell in general was rly good!! idk the actress’ name but she did a great job and whoever did the casting for this whole movie also did great !!!

yourusername 3/4 done with filming for First Gear 🤍 So much work has been done for this movie and it's been the good kind of overwhelming so far. I've learned so much and experienced so many new things.

Included the one and only charles_leclerc here because majority of the things I learned came from him. He's pretty nice except he was beyond nervous when I drove the car for the first time.

akaashi keiji: you can hear it in the silence

blurb keiji is hiding something from you. only when you get the courage to unearth it will you get more than what you anticipated.

a/n there were a lot of comments saying they wanted more of childhood!friend akaashi so i come here to serve! based off of a ts song. also im not sure abt the ending lolol

# wc, angst to fluff, mutual pining, but ofc neither knows about the mutual part, childhood friends to lovers, late night slow dancing awh, confessions

you wake up to noises. most, muffled and distant on one ear with your other is pressed against a lap; some, slow and near, like akaashi’s breathing and soft humming he doesn’t seem conscious of doing.

“hah?” comes someone’s voice. you recognize it, but in the dregs of exhaustion, you can’t pin a name to it. “this again? are you a pillow now or something?”

“i don’t mind,” akaashi says, and his grip on your hair tenses a little like it’s a lie, “we do this all the time.”

your brows knit together subtly.

the voice -- kuroo, you now identify -- hums thoughtfully. “yeah, i know that. but don’t let y/n… step all over you or something just because you’re used to it. you’re a smart guy, ‘kaashi.”

akaashi doesn’t reply this time, even when you were so sure that he would ask kuroo by what he means. keiji knows what he’s talking about. this unsettles you more than you’d like to admit.

you didn’t realize you were gripping his jacket tightly until his fingers resumed playing with your hair, soothing your nerves with just a touch. this makes you wonder, does he know you’re awake? or is it just a subconscious instinct to comfort you?

“well? are you gonna do it or not?”

do what?

akaashi lightly scratches your head. you’re probably purring, who knows. “i’ll see you around, kuroo.”

kuroo sighs. “see ya, man. kenma says bye.”

akaashi hums again.

you wake up and pretend as if you weren’t aware the entire time. if akaashi noticed, he doesn’t call you out on it. so you talk; you talk about how yukie and kaori will treat you to ice cream later and if he wants to come. about how they want to watch a romance movie with you tomorrow and they spoiled you about a slow dance scene. about how you’d like to hang out with him some more.

but he doesn’t speak again the entire night, sharp eyes far away from where he actually is.

akaashi is hiding something from you.

you should’ve known earlier, given how you pride yourself in knowing akaashi better than anyone else, but somehow you’ve missed this one.

ever since that practice match with nekoma -- ever since kuroo entered the room, and said words that made bells ring in the back of your head -- you’ve been noticing signs from akaashi that proved your theory that akaashi is avoiding you.

it’s a subtle shift. akaashi is certainly slippery when he wants to be. but for someone who has been best friends with him since you were plucked out of the womb, you noticed.

when you invite him to your house, he declines, always saying that he’s too tired but maybe he could next time (which would be fine, if his next time didn’t involve repeating the same words; it would be understandable if he didn’t sneak out to practice -- so aggressively, almost angrily -- when he thought you left the school).

when you talk to him -- this one is a tricky one -- he’s quiet. he usually is comfortable with letting others lead the conversation, but this is a tense silence. the kind of quiet that means he’s thinking hard and worrying about something. sometimes, some days are like that. you just don’t understand what’s so different about this one that has him hiding it from you.

it frustrated you. but you love him too much to risk making him uncomfortable for pushing.

but your heart breaks when you realized he's pushing you away.

you decided to give him space. you didn’t talk to him in the same way he didn’t instigate a conversation. you didn’t go to him in the same way he didn’t look for you the way he usually does. it’s been a week since you two last talked.

whoever came up with the quote fondness makes the heart grow stronger knew their shit.

“a fight?” ren, a classmate who you’ve only spoken to about three times, ponders aloud. he’s staring at you. “are the high school sweethearts fighting?”

“what? which high school sweetheart? where?” you whip your head around, disappointed to see everyone chatting peacefully. no high school sweethearts drama here, no sir.

“you and akaashi.”

“what?” you cough as an excuse to cover your face. “w-we’re not like that.”

“really?” ren looks genuinely surprised. “oh, my bad. sorry for assuming.”

“no harm done,” you smile, pointedly looking back at your notebook.

ren doesn’t get the hint. “say, l/n. i overheard the girls talking about this horror movie. do you like horror movies?” you haven’t given it much thought before. you usually didn’t mind any movie so long as you had akaashi’s blank-faced commentary and criticism that never fails to entertain you. the memory makes your expression sour.

“ren-kun,” you start, cutting off his pitch about how he had bought two tickets for him and his brother but blah blah blah this and that.

“y-yes?” ren looks hopeful.

“am i a bad friend?”

“...what?” ren blinks once, then twice. “uhm. i wouldn’t know, not exactly. but you seem sweet. and nice. i don’t see why you would be.” at your silence, ren shifts awkwardly foot to foot. “do you think you’re a bad friend?”

“i don’t know,” you murmur. “maybe he does.”

“who?”

“akaashi.”

ren looks contemplative, then sighs. “do you want to take your mind off of it?”

your eyes skim over the imprinted words on the book. you’ve been on the same sentence for the past few minutes, and never have any word registered on your mind. you don’t notice the door sliding open and someone entering. “and how do you suppose i do that?” you ask him, only a little absentmindedly.

“listen, l/n. to be straightforward with you, i really want to take you to this movie,” ren says. the boldness is almost charming. if only he was your type (and if only your brain would be caught dead if you were to think about anyone else). “it doesn’t have to be a date, but if you give me a chance it could be.”

you stare at him, dumbfounded. “uhm.”

you don’t want to go. someone wise once said (yukie-san) that horror movies were a cheap trick to get their date to hang onto their knight in shining armor because they are scared or whatever the boys wrote in playboy 101. honestly, all things considered (and you really don’t want to consider it), you’d rather not do any of that. it’s kinda lame.

you don’t have to answer when your eyes widen at the new figure coming up from behind ren.

“sorry, yamamura-san, but i already have plans with… l/n-san,” akaashi says, steely-eyed as if daring ren to doubt him.

“oh?” ren glances back and forth between the two of you. he holds akaashi’s gaze, and it’s almost a sneer. “hm, sure, okay. offer’s still up, though, okay?” but he walks away, tail between his legs at the surprising hostility radiating off of akaashi.

akaashi watches him leave with a funny expression, before turning back to you and his face softening.

you scoff. “i’m not gonna thank you.”

akaashi smiles, as though he was already expecting that. “you looked uncomfortable. you can just tell them that you have plans with me and i’ll understand and play along.”

but he doesn’t understand that you don’t want him to do all this from the goodness of his heart, but actually because you want a date from him, does he?

you sigh, breaking eye contact. “so you avoid me all week and then make my plans for me? some nerve you got there.” you’re not actually mad at him. akaashi shows his way of caring through subtle ways like this, because he can’t bring himself to just say plainly what he wants.

somehow, knowing all these little things about him makes it harder to get angry.

akaashi looks guilty at least. “sorry, did you plan on going?”

“no, of course not. you know i’d rather not bother,” you laugh.

akaashi looks thoughtful at this response.

it’s 2 in the morning.

2 in the morning and you’ve been tossing and turning unable to sleep so you decided to watch some shitty reruns that weren’t even close to enjoyable. but it took your mind off of things. like the fact that your akaashi is drifting away and he won’t even tell you what you did wrong.

and also-- what in the everloving fuck is akaashi keiji doing standing outside your window like that?”

“keiji?” you whisper, hysterical in a way that neared yelling; you didn’t notice the slip of his name, but he did. “what the fuck are you doing here?”

you had to pinch your arm to make sure that you aren’t hallucinating.

akaashi’s gaze on you is piercing. you definitely don’t look at the way the long sleeves of his shirt is cuffed around his forearms-- you do not. “can you sneak out?”

“what? right now?” even with your incredulity, he nods patiently. “are you fucking crazy!? how the hell did you even--”

“let me have this, y/n,” akaashi says, looking at you so earnestly you want to slap yourself silly for even raising your voice at him. “please.”

“akaashi--”

“keiji,” he whispers back, craning his neck to glance behind him. he’s usually not this adventurous, but you tell yourself that this is probably not the last surprise he’s giving you. “come on.”

so you give in.

well, kind of. you were expecting him to take you somewhere and kidnap you. maybe offer you to the aliens so it would leave some explanations as to why akaashi is acting so fucking weird!

but he actually led you to your own backyard, where there’s a speaker on the table and his phone on top of it. it’s playing some slow music you vaguely recognized played by a popular artist. you wonder if your neighbors have suddenly gotten deaf or if you’re the only one who feels as if the world has gone silent just for this.

akaashi must like this song if he’s willing to listen to it right now after offering:

“can we have a dance?”

you stare at him, round-eyed. so this is why he’s all dressed up. and you’re in your most comfortable pajamas. “you’re fucking crazy.”

akaashi can’t hide his smile. “that’s not an answer.”

you give in, taking his hand as he guides you to wrap it around his and the other on his shoulder. “keiji.”

“y/n.” he has one hand on your waist now. you don’t think you’ve been this intimately close to akaashi before, so you need to speak up before you lose your mind.

“did i do something? to, like, make you mad at me or something? did i upset you?”

akaashi’s eyes soften. “no, of course not.” you don’t know, but somehow you two are slow dancing, and akaashi is leading -- so naturally, as if this is how it’s supposed to be.

“then why were you avoiding me?”

“i didn’t mean to. i was just… thinking.”

you pair are swaying slightly, following the melody. your heart is fluttering and akaashi keeps looking at you. what the hell is happening? “d-does it have to involve not being around me?”

“i didn’t like the space either, y/n. but i was thinking about things that you would hate me for.”

you sigh. “keiji. look. you’re my best friend -- my bestest one ever -- and i love you more than you know, do you seriously think i would just hate y--”

akaashi’s eyebrows rise to his hairline. it’s the most expressive you’ve seen him. “what did you just say?”

you’ve never said the “L” word before. especially not just to akaashi, because then it would mean different. and akaashi -- stupid keiji who knows you too well -- knows this.

“--you, uh-- fuck.” you pull away from him. “did i just confess? was that a confession? please ignore what i said. i didn’t say anything. let me continue my monologue, dammit.”

akaashi can’t stop smiling. “do you mind repeating that? i didn’t hear you properly.”

“no. nooooo, don’t look at me like that.” you cover your eyes so you wouldn’t have to see the way he looks so happy. it’s not good for your soft heart.

“and how do i look at you?” akaashi is amused. he’s just teasing you at this point.

when you don’t reply, akaashi persists. he hasn’t been this assertive since… ever. maybe you’re a bad influence on him. “how do you know that you love me?”

“i don’t know! i just-- i just look at you and--” your voice goes quieter. “i think i do.”

akaashi hums, tugging you close until your chests are touching and leads you to sway again. “then, in that case. i think i might be in love with you, too.”

so i did this on a few playlists, and first i got a cover of "9 to 5" for the show "we are lady parts" (please listen to the cover and please watch the show they're sooo fucking good)

and then on a different playlist i got the original 9 to 5 by dolly parton, so i think that's a sign lolol

honestly, so many ways to spin this. you could either go more in depth with far beyond the stars, but there are already a few wonderful fics doing just that, so instead ill go with an au im always kind of thinking about, and hopefully i will write someday:

taking a page out of "the city on the edge of forever", this would diverge from the episode "past tense" and have ben and julian stay in 2024 longer, a few months maybe, a bunch of snapshots of them living together.

ben, interested in history as he is, being interested in local activist movements, etc etc. (and this is purely for my own wish fulfillment and love of house music but. they also go out to dance at least once). julian working long shifts at a hospital and the ways he learns to adjust to the state of 21st century earth medicine

...now that i ran with this i am not sure how exactly this fits this 9 to 5 in particular but. i hope it makes sense? i can always elaborate

hiiiiiiii would u say there is much in wot that grrm took insp from for asoiaf? i keep hearing abt the wot-infuence lately nd am curious abt ur estimate on the question. it's particularly funny in regards to ur starkly contrasting opinions on wot's & asoiaf's gender depiction. either way, would love to hear ur thoughts

if im honest with you im finding the influence fairly negligible. they are telling vaaaaastly different stories and their worldbuilding is not similar other than being like, vaguely medievalist. the only thing i can think of is wheel of time having its nobility engage in a political ��game of houses” in one of its cities which iirc was directly an inspiration for the idea of the “game of thrones” in asoiaf, though so far it hasnt been very well executed in wheel of time lolol. they also share the concept of warging, i guess… and the wildlings might be grrm’s take on the aiel in a way (martial culture, sexually “free”, female fighters, a people banished to a desolate border land) esp with rand coming to lead them like jon might. again im only 5 books into a 14 book series so there could be more but seriously they do not feel similar to me in any major way. if grrm was inspired by it, it’s in pretty marginal ways. iirc the first WOT book only came out like 6 years before AGOT which was insane to me

#also their themes (if we can even say wot has coherent themes) are not only different but often contradict one another #the ONE thing i feel like WOT has over icefire is the fact that metanarrative is directly built into its worldbuilding #i think that’s really awesome even though. It’s not executed to the degree it could be #wot read #oh and to be fair most of wot’s POVs are not nobles which is kinda neat. even if they have Super Special Destinies anyway #wheel of time is much more comparable to stormlight archives which is obvious because sanderson finished em

- i'm doing alright, i hope you're doing better though! i'm running on no sleep rn lol. i'm literally trying to speedrun all of these requests cause i feel bad for leaving them to rot in my drafts :(

- she thinks you're an asshole when she first encounters you since you'd always seem to start random arguments whenever it came to her health and how reckless she seemed to be on the battle field and your wording was always a bit iffy, but as time went on she noticed that you'd only been hard on her because you were worried about her.

- arguments still happen, sure, but not as frequent as they used to due to the fact that she tries to listen to you more instead of turning defensive when you comment on her fighting style. at times when you'd nit pick at the smallest things, it does tend to get on her nerves but the days where you finally feel comfortable to the point where all you want to do is hold her or be held is what she cherishes and looks back to most.

- that's often how your arguments are settled if you ever happen to have one in the first place; she'd close the distance between you two just to pull you into a warm hug that always seems to cause you to tear up a bit.

JINX

- she also thinks you're an asshole and annoying and fights between the two of you would be constant and take a little while before the two of you actually made up. it also takes her a bit longer to acknowledge that you're just worried about her wellbeing. she's not stupid and is far from being such, but she's got so much on her mind and is going through so much that she might not be able to register you being worried about her at all.

- though when she finally does catch on, she starts to cry. she's lost practically everything so to have someone—anyone care about her as a whole is just tear-jerking for her. fights don't happen as much since she just acknowledges what you're telling her rather than trying to object, but there are still times when fights do break out though they're quickly resolved.

￫ she might try to run off out of frustration whenever the two of you happen to have an argument of any kind, but she always ends up coming back to you due to her attachment issues—holding you close and mumbling about how she's sorry and doesn't want you to leave her and it just breaks your heart to see her like this.

uh- ok hold on, theres gonna be like three (maybe more i cant count-) bc i cant choose between them-

Supernatural i think the shows actually kinda old, but do i care? not one bit im also only at the end of the fourth season, and ive got ten(ish) more to go sooo- (if you know what the show is ignore this, but if not read on: its essentially about these two brothers (sam and dean) who fight supernatural beings title lol -- things like demons, ghosts, monsters, etc basically anything from old mythology from all cultures) anyway- love love love this show bc 1. characters are so good, and like well developed (continuing to develop throughout the show as well) like omg- 2. plot is literally amazing like wth, theres usually a bunch of plot twists 'n stuff, so it keeps you hooked alotta the time and 3. it might be dramatic, but it has its funny moments too (also the fandom is still like *aggressively* active with all the ships-) favourite characters so far- dean, older brother, loves food (like me sometimes), and the reason for most of the jokes in the show (as in he makes them, and ppl make some abt him) honestly hes just really funny and i love him platonically second favourite (he might actually be my first but-) castiel, he doesnt appear till the start of season 4 but its worth the wait, i think ppl find him annoying at first but hes so pretty and i aggresively simp for him platonically, hes also kinda dry but that makes it funnier- (fun fact, ppl ship dean and castiel together -- destiel -- so its funny that they're my two favourite characters-)

Merlin show got cancelled but used to air on BBC, its set in medieval times (king arthur, is legit a character but hes not king yet), so its got magic, sword fighting, the whole thing love the show bc again characters are amazing, plot is amazing, and while its dramatic it has its funny moments (also even though the show ended like ten years ago, fandom is still active and i love that)my favourite character is probably gwaine, i cant explain why he just is (if you watch the show you'll understand)

finally (but *definitely* not least) Haikyuu- idk why i think its mainly just bc the eng dub makes me smile every time i watch one of its episodes- and also probably bc i simp for so many of the characters (shhh-) also recently learnt im a bokuto kinnie do with that what you will *major* sakusa simp, he's just so pretty and i cant handle it, and idc if people think hes distant and moody and stuff bc i literally love him(you can probably tell that by the amount of kiyoomi content i reblog)- i also simp a lot for suna, just bc have u seen him hes pretty as sooo- its also bc i find him funny and i just love him ok? (also low quality suna pics i legit love for some reason-) a character from haikyuu i love but in a more platonic way, is bokuto, again he's pretty- but its also his personality is just so chaotic and i love him for it- especially when him and kuroo are together, it just makes things all the more funnier for me

uh- there's more shows, but this is all i can think of rn- also sorry its so long, i tend to ramble a lot sometimes-

BESTIE i get. drinks from the local vape shop and theyre usually rlly good (the purple lemonade had a weird grassy flavor and i mean duh but it was REALLY noticeable but otherwise. gr8 luck) but the uh. the major problem is they dont have consistent stock EXCEPT the purple lemonade. so i uh. like last time was a super mellow chill high and today was. waaaaaaaaaaaayy more than i was banking on. fully zonked.

LIZARD. obvs hes a juggalo (miracles came on shuffle and im so. yea the world IS fuckin beautiful thank u violent j and shaggy 2 dope) uhhh fun facts! his face paint is actually that. face paint. you uh. think abt trying to use greasepaint on fur lol. he is also ACTIVELY DECAYING. for the most part hes holding up alright and nothing would really kill him. he's Undead. but he just. doesnt heal anymore.his eye is scarred bc he was missing it before he died but what his fur conceals is the fact that his arm is just. fully a fresh wound. 2 skin flaps stitched over what boils down to a mushy scab. he literally only stitched it up bc he was Sick of Bleeding everywhere. it's gross. hes gross.

aspect of his design im passionate abt— his CLOTHES!!!!! ofc for his design i used a base but the clothes were modified + ofc colored by me :3 his hoodie is based off this one + his shirt is Also a real shirt!! also ofc his facepaint. idk if i ever posted the mockup of it so here:
