Bardic inspiration be damned, Jaskier decides, slipping once again on the pebbled ground as he climbs the rocky coast line of Skellige.

He had wanted to see the whales, but did not listen to the advice given by the locals to go to one of the cliffs beyond the village. No, Jaskier really thought it would be better to experience it up close and all that.

He didn’t even see a fucking whale.

Maybe whale watching is done better from up high, but Jaskier had seen this perfect spot down by the rocks and now he is full of sweaty regrets.

Because he can’t find the path he took to get down here and the high tide is sweeping in, making his path treacherous and slippery.

Swearing profusely, Jaskier manages to at least get above the waterline. His shoes are wet, as are his breeches to the knee, but at least his leather satchel is fine.

Good thing he didn’t bring the lute.

Jaskier settles down to wait it out. It’s a fine day after all, even if the sun is slowly setting, and the sea is as calm as it can be around here.

Despite being so frustrated with himself, Jaskier finds himself relaxing. The sun shimmers on the surface of the sea, and gulls cry above, accompanied by the lapping of waves.

There are some rock formations further out, some of them almost shaped like giant, crooked pillars.

This view is why he was drawn to Skellige after all, so far away from his homelands. The stone he sits on is hard, yes, but warmed from sitting in the sun all day.

Out of the corner of his eye, to the left, Jaskier notices movement.

When he turns his head, there is nothing there.

Strange.

He knows Skellige is not the safest of places. The coast is riddled with harpies and sirens, the latter especially dangerous this close to the water.

Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all.

Then he spots something again, but this time straight ahead. It is directly in the bright reflection, so Jaskier has to squint but isn’t that… it looks like…?

The back of a whale!

Jaskier scrambles up to his feet, trying to shield his eyes to get a better look. Yes, that really is a whale out there! A big one, looks like, and far out!

He can only see the top of it, and the strange huffing sound travels across the surface when it blows water high, high up into the air.

The droplets are glistening like diamonds, like rain on a sunny day, as they fall back down.

The whale stays there for another minute or two, breathing deeply, and then the surface ripples as she dives.

Her tail comes up, rivulets of water falling down her fin, and then gives a giant splash as she pushes herself further down.

Jaskier realizes his mouth is hanging open.

He truly didn’t expect to see one, and not this close to the shore. Alright, it was not that close to the shore, but still visible to the naked eye, and he is thrilled.

He scans the surface once more, hungry for another sighting, but once the water has calmed there is nothing else.

Immediately, Jaskier starts going through his satchel to bring out the precious paper and pencil to write this down. When he finds it, he plops back down on the rock, legs crossed, and everything else forgotten.

The words come easily, filling the page with poetry and observation.

So lost in it, he doesn’t even notice he isn’t alone anymore until there is a soft splash right in front of him.

Jaskier startles, a long black line scratching across the page.

He could swear there is the upper half of a face sticking up out of the water, just a few feet away from him.

Pale skin, yellow eyes, even paler hair slicked back over what seems to be a surprisingly human-shaped head.

Jaskier’s heart is beating so hard he can feel it in his throat. Is this a siren? No, he would be dead by now, wouldn’t he?

Is it a dead person? No, the eyes are watching him very intently, blinking slowly, so it couldn’t be. It could be a drowner, though, but aren't they blue?

When nothing happens, Jaskier forces himself to relax his posture. His entire body is fighting him, that knee-jerk fight or flight response trying to decide which is best to do, but Jaskier decides on neither.

“Hello?” he ventures, and the eyes look back at him. “Who might you be?”

There is no response, which, fair, nose and mouth both seem to be submerged. But the being comes just a little bit closer, and Jaskier fights to keep his breathing even.

Just to be safe, Jaskier puts his papers to the side, pinned in place by the satchel. It wouldn’t do for them to become wet, even if this is where he meets his end. Maybe the skalds can sing about him, were they to find his notes. The bard who got too close, or whatever.

Fear is great inspiration, it would seem.

With a soft sound, the top of a head becomes an entire head, a neck, shoulders, and arms. Pale, glistening, well muscled, and surprisingly human looking, were it not for the gills on his neck, the long fins along the outside of the under arms, and smatterings of scales.

The white hair is longer than he thought, slightly curly now that it is out of the water, and sticking to the sides of the person’s face.

Jaskier blinks hard, taking it all in.

“Are you a mer?” Jaskier asks breathlessly, as the person pulls themself up on a rock. The lower half of the body is still hidden, but he can see hints of scales on their sides and down over the hips. Pale grey, like pale silver, he thinks.

The person, who looks very much like a man, tilts his head, and seems to scent the air.

“Afraid?” The person asks, his voice raspy and low. Yeah, it absolutely sounds like a he, but Jaskier is not very well versed in Mer anatomy.

“You surprised me,” Jaskier says carefully. “I thought I was alone.”

“You are never alone in the sea,” the mer says between sharp teeth.

As if that wasn’t a terrifying statement.

But the Mer speaks the language of Skellige, and Jaskier desperately wants to know more.

“Who are you?” Jaskier asks. “Do you live here?”

“This is my territory,” the Mer says, straightening up a little, revealing just a hint of a powerful tail below the surface. “Mine to keep.”

Jaskier smiles at the little display, finding it a little endearing despite the hint of aggression. Like a hissy kitten, trying out its claws.

“Then I am your guest. Forgive me, but I am lost, and I can’t find my way back.”

The mer watches, expression giving nothing away. Then again, expressions just might be different for Mer, Jaskier muses.

“Forgive? Do you need forgiveness for being lost?”

“Maybe not, but for imposing on your territory. I did not know it was yours. I only wanted to see a whale.”

The mer looks over his shoulder when Jaskier motions with his hand out to the open sea. His profile in the fading light is stunning, and Jaskier feels like he is in some kind of fairy tale.

“And did you see her?” The Mer turns back towards Jaskier.

“I did. She was beautiful.”

The Mer seems satisfied with this answer, and does an odd little hum. It rumbles along his sides, and Jaskier notices another set of thin fins along his ribs. He also notices scars, some new and some old.

“You may call me Geralt,” The Mer suddenly decides, pulling Jaskier out of a daydream where he considers what else is out there.

“Geralt,” Jaskier repeats. Not what he expected a Mer to be named, but again, who is he to tell? “You may call me Jaskier.”

“Jaskier.” Geralt says it like he is tasting the name, and with a slight lisp. “Is this land your territory?”

“I am but a guest here as well. I am a wanderer.” Jaskier smiles again, and Geralt’s eyes dip down to it, as if he doesn’t understand.

“So no territory?” Geralt asks, seemingly confused about the prospect.

“None. Well, none but this one.” And Jaskier pats his satchel. “It holds my treasures, and the stories I collect.”

“How does one collect stories?” Geralt asks, sinking into the water again and swimming closer, eyes all the while trained on Jaskier.

He stops when he is about an arm’s length away from the rock where Jaskier is sitting, making Jaskier’s adrenaline run again.

“Afraid?” Geralt asks again with a frown, tilting his head back as if he is smelling the air. Huh.

“A little,” Jaskier admits, seeing no point in lying. “I have never met your kind before, and I don’t know if you would wish to drown me.”

“If I had wanted that, you’d already be dead,” Geralt says with a cold expression, probably meant as a reassurance, but it doesn’t feel like one.

The Mer props himself up on a rock hidden under water and Jaskier now sees the tail, sleek, strong and silver.

“I collect stories by writing them down, and sometimes singing them,” Jaskier explains, deciding he does not want to remain on the subject of drowning while stuck where he is. “Would you like to hear one?”

When Geralt nods his assent, Jaskier thinks about the skellige songs he knows. Most are bawdy tavern songs, to be honest, but he recalls a ballad of the Maid and the Moon.

He sings it with the lapping of the waves and the cry of gulls, slapping his hand to the rock to keep the beat. It sounds better with a drum, but it will do.

Geralt keeps watching him, keeps doing that weird blink of his. Jaskier starts another one, one of war and fire. And then another one about returning home, which aches just a little.

When the songs are done, Geralt doesn’t say anything, just dives beneath the waves.

The sun is getting really low, and Jaskier is a bit worried he will have to stay here all eve. He isn’t wearing much more than his white tunic and a thin pair of trousers, courtesy of the Skelligan summer heat, but the temperature is dropping along with the setting sun.

Geralt returns with less of a splash than Jaskier expects.

His hair sticks to his forehead, and this close Jaskier notices a scar over his left eye. It looks old, and deep, and Jaskier can’t help but wonder if Geralt’s skin would be cool to the touch, if he were to reach out.

With some strain, Geralt reaches up to the rock where Jaskier is sitting, and Jaskier shifts to accept what Geralt is offering. Their fingers touch, and Jaskier learns that no, Geralt is not cold. The ring that he is handed, however, is.

“Does this one have a story too?” the Mer asks, and Jaskier is immediately flattered for being trusted with Geralt’s treasure.

“I’m sure it does, but it seems it is not mine to tell. Is it yours?”

Jaskier attempts to give the ring back, but Geralt sinks further into the water, shaking his head.

“I do not know it. The ring is yours to keep, Jaskier, as a thanks for sharing your collection of stories with me.”

Jaskier senses this is goodbye, as the Mer swims backwards, back out towards the deep. Despite their short time together, the thought of parting stings. It feels unlikely they will meet again.

“Come back again, Jaskier the wanderer. It was good to have you as a guest. Your path to land is clear.”

Jaskier blinks in surprise, and then frowns at this statement. When he turns to look towards the rocks around and behind him, he realizes that the tide has pulled back enough for him to climb up towards the safety of land. When Jaskier looks back, Geralt is gone.

The waves lap against the stones as if nothing happened. Before the sun can disappear beyond the horizon, Jaskier gathers his things and carefully makes his way up.

When he’s ascended to safety, he turns once more, looking out over the ocean. The sky is a myriad of colors, birds a dark outline against its splendor, but not a hint of his new friend is to be seen.

The day after brings a storm and Jaskier is unable to go back to the shore for another two days. It’s strange, but Jaskier feels an itch under his skin, he wants to go back, learn more, see Geralt again.

On the third day the sky clears, the clouds finally finishing with their weeping and the wind its howling.

Jaskier is better prepared this time. He sits down on the same rock as before, and he sings while he waits.

Geralt finds him again on that rock, this time swimming close without any hesitation.

“Lost again?” Geralt asks. There is a new set of gashes on his arm, looking like claw marks, too big to be anything Jaskier would ever want to meet.

“No. Looking for a friend.” Jaskier smiles. “If you will have me as a guest once more.”

Geralt smiles back at him then, stiff though it may be, but Jaskier sees it as the gift it is anyway.

“It would be my honor.”

Since Jaskier came to Skellige, he has seen at least three whales, climbed a number of beautiful and treacherous mountain passes, and tasted alcohol strong enough to give women chest hair. He has made friends with skalds and fishermen and errand boys and lords, and his time is coming to a close.

He will miss it. Them. This sharp country and its inhabitants, the living myths found hidden everywhere.

There is one he will miss a lot, Jaskier thinks, as he makes the now familiar climb down the rocky shore.

Saying goodbye is a part of being a wanderer, but it doesn’t make it any easier. His mother always liked to remind him, a goodbye is not a farewell, but still, Jaskier doesn’t have much hope for that.

Geralt is already there waiting for him, and Jaskier plops down on a rock further down so he can dip his feet into the water.

The Mer had expressed great interest in the concept of shoes, struggling with understanding their function. That first time Jaskier had joined him for a swim, Geralt had made one of his unreadable faces when Jaskier took off everything but his underclothes before getting in.

Technically the cove not a safe place to swim as the currents are strong and had threatened to pull Jaskier under more than once, but Geralt was always there to catch him.

Now, Geralt is sunbathing, propped up in a way to let his bare chest soak up as much sunlight as possible, his tail lazily moving side to side in the shallow water.

He is achingly beautiful, and Jaskier is suddenly struck by melancholy.

Jaskier doesn’t say anything when he sits, only removes his shoes and socks to dip his toes in water that doesn’t get warm, even in summer.

The Mer opens his eyes, gazing directly at him, eyes as bright as rays of sunlight.

“Sad?” Geralt asks in that direct way of his.

“Yes,” Jaskier admits, splashing his feet and scaring off the shrimp that were brave enough to approach him.

Geralt sits up enough to lean back on his elbow and watches Jaskier intently.

“Why?”

“I am leaving soon, my friend. A ship arrives within the week to take me home. To my territory.”

Geralt opens and closes his mouth, then looks out over the sea.

“Hm,” he says, confirming that he understood but doesn’t know how to reply.

Were Geralt a human, Jaskier would have asked him to come with, but he is not. Geralt’s territory is here, his life is here, and even with a boat, the travel across the seas is dangerous.

He will not ask it.

They sit in silence for a long while, Jaskier humming under his breath when a story, this story, starts to take form.

When it is time to leave, Geralt swims close, gently taking hold around Jaskier’s calves to stay afloat.

“You have been a good friend,” Geralt says, deep in thought.

“As have you,” Jaskier says, aching with the sadness of parting, of leaving Geralt behind.

To soothe himself, he reaches out a hand and cups Geralt’s cheek. Something he has not done before, something he did not think welcome, but Geralt leans into it.

“I will miss you,” Jaskier says quietly, and the Mer looks up at him through thick lashes.

Then he pushes himself out of the water, heaving himself up on the rock and leaning over Jaskier, into his personal space.

There is water everywhere, soaking Jaskier’s breeches and shirt, but Geralt has leaned forward, and Jaskier meets him halfway.

The kiss tastes like salt and sunlight. Geralt is careful not to hurt him, his teeth hidden behind gentle lips.

“I will miss you, too,” Geralt murmurs against his lips, and then he sinks back down into the water and is gone.

Lettenhove in spring is beautiful. The trees are full of buds ready to bloom any day now, bumblebees waking up and doing their confused dance around the flowers in the courtyard.

It is now late enough in the year that summer threatens to overtake the land, waking a wanderer from his slumber.

Jaskier makes his way down past the docks, to the rocky parts where the river meets the ocean.

It’s a habit he can’t shake, and he dips his feet in the cold water, just like he did last summer. He sits there for a good long while, thinking of a kiss and a ring.

There is a ripple in the water to his left, and for a moment, Jaskier thinks he only imagines the familiar face peeking up just over the surface.

But their eyes lock, and half a face becomes a full head and shoulders, as Geralt swims closer.

It is impossible, or, well, improbable. Jaskier feels a giant smile form on his lips and something heavy that’s been on his heart finally lifts.

“Are you lost, wanderer?” he asks, when Geralt swims ever closer, reaching for Jaskier’s calf to hold himself steady.

“No, I'm here to see a friend.” Geralt returns the smile tentatively. “I crossed the sea to find you.”

“Then you are welcome as my guest, friend,” Jaskier says warmly, reaching down to touch Geralt’s cheek, just like the last time they saw each other.

And just like last time, when Jaskier leans forward and down to meet him, their kiss tastes like salt and sunlight.

Okay, I think I got some thoughts in my brain to say stuff I wanna say about Aria's Story which includes some spoilers. It is nice :D I think my absolute favourite thing bout it is the fact that the stages are separated by "books." First chapter was in a comedy book (where I somehow died the most at). Second chapter was in a fairy tales book (my favourite section, go lesbians go!). Third chapter was in a romance book (second favourite solely because the soundtrack in it was so soothing to listen to). Fourth chapter was in a horror book (which is somehow not really that scary).

It's kinda funny how in a way, the comedy section was more like the "horror" section cuz while playing the game, the scares went from so much to only a lil bit. And ngl the horror chapter gives me vibes of a haunted house attraction in an amusement park which is actually pretty good on its own way.

I absolutely adore the story, it has such a unique charm to it despite how "average" it is at first glance. It has the common formula of 4 friends, 1 that's cold, 1 that's annoying, 1 that's calm, and 1 that's cheerful. Its story is also common in a way where (spoilers) one of em is dead and the other one in the group is trying to revive them. But despite that, it's like, even with such a simple formula, it was written in a way that makes it unique on its own and I really love it for that!

For the endings, I really prefer and like the True Ending more than the Good Ending. In the True Ending, "Aria" accepted her own death (putting it in quotes cuz the real Aria is dead, and the one in the game is just a "copy" of her. Copy as in a fictional character created for the sake of "reviving" aka replacing, the dead Aria).

So then "Aria" took the quill (magical quill that can create and erase anything written with it but can't really revive a dead person), and bid everyone farewell as she used it to erase her own existence. As painful as Aria's death was and despite Clyde using the quill to try and get her back, the friends chose to move on in the end anyway. (I really love the art accompanied by it showing the friends together and a ghost Aria floating behind em).

Now the Good Ending... It's such a close second simply because I love OMORI and I'm always a sucker for characters that was meant to be a copy of someone but became their own person (Sunny and Omori sibling/bestie aus will always be my favourite).

In the Good Ending, "Aria" wanted to keep living but as her own person and not as a replacement for Aria. So Lewin gave her a different name (Wendy) and they all agreed to try to get her to their own world (which is reality basically and not within a fictional world created by the quill) as her own person with an appearance of her own. In which they succeeded 3 years later! Wendy got sent to reality as an adult with a different look to Aria (but still similar in a way that they look like siblings... it so cute...) and no memories, cuz Wendy's last request to them before they left, was to get rid of Aria's memories so Wendy can make her own, even if it means she'll have amnesia. And I adore that ending on its own way too! The friends get to still move on but now they have a new friend! (Wanna draw Wendy and Aria together so badly... drawing em with Sunny and Omori... the besties ever with their clones turned siblings).

#aria rants #deep down am wishing that the game is a lil longer but its current length rn is also enough for it as well #i just think some length will be nice to expand more on the story and characters #also this game has such nice soundtracks i rlly love it #gotta say tho that in the romance section. theres a part where the sound is the beating of a heart and when playing the game #was ironically bad for my heart cuz i cant calm down. like theres smth bout hearing a heart beating in the background #that makes my own heartbeat confused in a weird way. like its tryna copy it but also not which just makes it beat faster than normal #like am listenin to it now again and it aint even that quick. it just sounds like a normal heartbeat. but also it went a biiit faster #by the end of the soundtrack and if its in game. the sound loops as long as youre in the area so maybe my heart just got confused #by how it would speed up a bit as the sound ended and yet it loops to being normal heartrate again #but also gotta say. the sound itself is actually soothing on its own way had it not been for my heart trying to mimic it

another breeze by review of 2023 in books/movies/tv and one play

Books:

the beatryce prophecy - 3/5 v beautiful read. kate dicamillo has my heart

the summer of the swans - 3/5 really liked the dialogue in this, and I like the idea of like. a book in real time

ender’s game - 4/5 a very chewy read. more unsettling than I anticipated

the seven dials mystery - 3/5 a little disappointing in the climax

frankenstein - 5/5 so much better and so different from what I'd been led to believe by popular media. I'm a frankenstein snob now

the phantom of the opera - 5/5 also very different from popular understanding, and much more interesting. I'd really love there to be a faithful mini series adaption

the turn of the screw - 2/5 v longwinded and wordy, and a bit of a let down in the fright department

maus - 5/5 harrowing

lang fairy books (green, grey, crimson) - 3/5 enjoyable but got a bit repetitive after a while. I listened to these from many different readers, so that added to the experience

marlene - 4/5 really liked how frank she was, not only with herself but others too

a dark night’s work - 2/5 too much description, not enough dialogue, and took too long to get to the Event. kinda a drag tbh

the flying girl - 5/5 completely loved this. worth it just for chapter nine

the cruel painter - 3/5 unsettling and unintentionally hilarious

the water dancer - 4/5 beautifully written and v interesting story but kind of odd pacing

the thief - 4/5 already did a whole liveblog on this series so yeah. really enjoyed the myth story telling in this

the queen of attolia - 5/5 wild from start to finish. gen is insane. "I can steal the magus" gen that's just kidnapping sit down

the king of attolia - 5/5 probably my favorite of the series. really liked seeing an outside perspective to the consequences of qoa

tea with the black dragon - 2/5 v disappointing. the guy didn't even turn into a dragon at the end

the fall of the house of usher - 3/5 v atmospheric and unsettling

the sittin’ up - 3/5 lots of fun characters

a conspiracy of kings - 4/5 the pov changes was a interesting choice

true grit - 5/5 v engaging read even though I knew the story already

thick as thieves - 4/5 a little slow, and I would've been angrier longer at the end if I were costis

the house on mango street - 5/5 unexpected gut punch

return of the thief - 5/5 such a satisfying ending,

my sister lives on the mantelpiece - 4/5 borrowed from libby on a whim, and it turned out to be incredibly sad, and I did tear up at least four times

the thanksgiving play - 3/5 only listened to the audio adaption so it wasn't the true experience but. wild

old souls - 3/5 really went to a different place than I was expected. liked the art style but kinda a chewy read too

Film/tv

the last of us (s1) - 5/5 went into this knowing almost nothing about it and really enjoyed experiencing it

the mandalorian (s3) - 3/5 been so long since I watched it I kinda don't remember what happened but at least they got mandalore back. yay

mad max fury road - 5/5 knew it was good, didn't know it was gonna be that good. easily one of my top movies now

shrek 2, 3, and 4 - 4/5 overall, the all made me laugh

kung fu panda 3 - 5/5 the most beautiful one I think?

the sixth sense - 5/5 knew the twist going in but still incredibly well made movie

the others - 4/5 really enjoyed the double twist. gave me chills

the phantom of the opera - 3/5 really weird editing

black adam - 3/5 had a very different vibe from other superhero movies

instant family - 3/5

oh my ghost - 3/5 the only time I've cared about characters having sex

exclusive fairy tale - 3/5 could've used a murder ngl

gifted - 4/5 much deeper than I expected

the quiet girl - 4/5 really got to me in the last ten seconds

high seas (s1-3) - 3/5 liked the sister relationship, esp in s1, but s2 was too dramatic, and s3 was completely unnecessary

shutter island - 3/5 also knew the twist going in but it got worse. v interesting visuals and atmosphere

tom jones - 3/5 I would've made tom wait a year

mission impossible: rouge nation - 3/5 kind of a slow burner ending

mission impossible: fallout - 3/5 they were a little Too smart in this, but really enjoyed the final act

mission impossible: dead reckoning part i - 5/5 actually really enjoyed all of it

beef - 3/5 absolutely wild show. really well acted tho

the bourne legacy - 2/5 unnecessary and kinda weird

jason bourne - 2/5 jason bourne should not be using an smartphone. also had to step away after they ****** *****

man on fire - 3/5

only murders in the building (s3) - 4/5 really enjoyed everyone in this season

once upon a time (s3-s5ish) - 3/5 everyone is so Dramatic and Serious about everything but it's actually very silly

titanic - 5/5 actually a really good movie?? who knew

fair play - 2/5 watched this to see something bad happen and you know what. it did

practical magic - 3/5 darker than I expected. gave me tonal whiplash

one royal holiday - 2/5 enjoyed watching aaron tveit doing an ?? accent

sweeny todd - 3/5 helena bonham carter. carried this tbh. also they didn't have to do johanna like that

the christmas bow - 4/5 genuinely enjoyed this?? would actually watch again

my happy marriage - 4/5 surprisingly really enjoyed this. I liked how understated the romance was

last holiday - 3/5 a really sweet movie actually

it’s time for him to come home for christmas - 3/5 actually really sad in some parts. and there was actually chemistry between the leads so it bearable to watch

the boy and the heron - 4/5 really bizarre but in cool fantastically way that I could really get into. somehow more beautiful than other ghibli movies. will need to watch again

the little mermaid (2023) - 4/5 liked this more than I thought I would. but disney really thought that we (me) wouldn't notice that they used two different horses interchangeably in the same scene??

polite society - 4/5 amazing leading lady. super enjoyable watch, no notes

attack on titan finale - 3/5 thank GOD this is finally over. zeke's death was really unsatisfying to me tbh but at least he died. and I wish armin had gone harder on eren on his bullshit bc good lord was he stupid. it sucks that the end is the weakest part of the story but at least it's over and levi was there. amazing animation tho

Hii! Honestly, Sort of confused????

Just like a lot of people I assume, I don't understand what's the big deal of the perilla leaf debate. I think seeing my partner helping out someone who's struggling would actually make me love them more for it, for being attentive towards someone I care about like a friend. Assuming it's a really close friend. But that's just me. Maybe because it's kind of uncommon these days but I like when men open doors for people, or they are helpful. They spent enough centuries being a baggage, modern men be helpful for once!!!! Pretty much what Namjoon, Yoongi and Jin said here, this is what I think too:

I was also remembered of the whole discussion on whether Jungkook is a jealous type of guy and I said he definitely has moments of jealousy. Feeling jealousy now and then doesn't make someone a toxic jealous person or partner, it just makes them human. They are people too and most importantly they are men. I'm not surprised or confused that he feels jealousy, but I'm confused that he feels jealousy over this.

Lots of assumptions here but let's assume he and Jimin are partners. Jungkook says it would be too much of Jimin helping out with the perilla leaf if JK is there, but Jungkook doesn't think it's too much of him to sit on his friend's lap while his partner (Jimin) is there, giving a speech? He thinks it's too much and his partner Jimin holding someone's salad for a second could lead to falling in love and marriage, but Jungkook himself says other men are "his" while -supposedly- being in a relationship? Is it okay for you to do things that you would feel betrayed if your partner did? Now that would make him a toxic jealous partner. I won't even get into Mijoo. Like how is holding one's food more intimate or romantic than all of that.

I think this is for me one of those "Jungkook is single vibes" moments, only because it makes no sense to me that he would care so much about eating and not real, more obvious acts of intimacy that he himself has with Jimin's friends (the other members).

So yeah, it's confusing and kinda crazy to me ngl that he would feel bothered by that and not by other definite and unmistakable acts of intimacy, I could make a list and it would be endless.

Besides they all feed each other literally all the time like????? Using the same spoon? Passing their own plates to the member next to them?? We've even seen them do wraps and feeding each other on camera. Are they okay with that only because it's on camera? Like I know at this point they're more family than friends but I don't think anyone would've expected any BTS member to get jealous over something food related lmao. Not even in an hypothetical situation. The funniest thing is that I can even imagine Jungkook helping out someone with their food like that. Most of his other answer he gave about friends and acquaintances he was actually quite understanding and tolerant.

It also made me think again that Jungkook and Taehyung are similar in some personality traits, and how their idea of romance and relationships is very fairy tale drama like, with the slow motion and the hands touching and meeting eyes and falling in love because you both reached for the popcorn at the same time. Very much idealistic and totally not real.

Anyways it's all very silly to me tbh 😳 anyone feel free to contribute with your own opinions 👀

Dissecting: Edens Zero Ch. 130-134

Kleene/Jinn

I was reading Ch. 83 and found this.

See, I don’t know if Mashima plans his story out or if he develops certain plots on the spot because everything is connecting. “Oh, I could use this later...” Brilliant. Amazing. For real though, I was like damn it’s the Mildian/Sun Jewel arc again (Xiaomei’s battles foreshadowing).

Shura vs Ziggy

It was interesting to read that Shura isn't the biological son of Nero. This leads me to think...what if Shura and Shiki are related? I mean they both have gravity ether and they both were taught by Ziggy. They both are also strong in their own right. We also have the theme from Fairy Tail of Good vs Evil (Zeref and Natsu) but in this instance it would be Shura and Shiki. We also don't know where they came from - their origins. Plus, Nero says that his power was incompatible with Shura but he was able to match with Ziggy's gravity powers.

Later, when the crew of Edens Zero find another relic (Robo Cola cap), they infer that Mother could be a place and a person. I was also thinking that because in FT: 100 years quest, Aldoron was a dragon god but his body was home to 5 cities.

So, if I'm right then, Shiki and Shura maybe are from a city on Mother...and maybe even Rebecca.

I'm noting that Shiki is younger than Shura. When Ziggy was training Shura, that was 15 years ago but, that's also the same time Ziggy found Shiki as a baby....unless Ziggy is lying and he has false memories. 👀👀👀 Is Ziggy truly good or bad? Does Shiki have additional powers like Rebecca?

What is the all-link system? Looks like Shura and Ziggy have the same idea. I think if Shura and Ziggy battle - Ziggy will win. What did you guys think?

Xenolith and the Crew of Edens Zero

I wonder why Xenolith's maintenance is lasting longer. Perhaps it may be revealed in the future. I would laugh if he moved his consciousness/personality data into a younger robot body.

Weisz stays being a perv lol with the bondage training.

Did Xenolith teach Shiki 'Black Sky?' For me, I feel like in the next arc, when Shiki is facing a really tough opponent we will get flashbacks of his training with Xenolith and him learning Black Sky. Then, he'll perform it against the enemy...which could be Ziggy. So, yes, I think Xenolith did teach him. Could be wrong but we'll have to wait and see!

Both Xenolith and Xiaomei have stated that Rebecca's power will change/save the world/universe.

- Xiaomei (Ch. 64): "She has only just begun to unlock the secrets of Leap’s real power. This power may truly save the universe one day."

- Xenolith (Ch. 132): "Her power is weak…but it is the most special. Special enough to change the world."

Witch calling Rebecca a 'Chrono Witch' is giving me Scarlet Witch vibes...

Fan service with the bath scenes but, at least it is keeping the story going, in that, she has to train in the bath in order to get stronger. Sister makes me geek, "You better get out of those ropes before this turns x-rated." When I read that scene, it gave me Virgo vibes from FT.

I also want to see how Xenolith met Ziggy. So, I'm wishing for a flashback.

I don't know if I put this on a post before or not but, my thoughts are that Ziggy did reach Mother and found Shiki there. He erased the Four Shining Stars memories because something bad would happen if he didn't (like they would get infected the way he is now). So, he did it to save them.

UGHHHH BUT THAT CLIFFHANGER...WHYYYYY - It'll probably blow my mind when it gets revealed.

Also, WOOHOOO! Jinn and Kleene joined the crew. That cute ass smile!!! OOOMG his face when he isn't able to untie Kleene. 🥺🥺🥺

The Oceans

So cool to see the winners of the Edens Zero character competition featured as the Oceans 6! I'm a fan of all of them and don't you worry...we won't forget Shura's assistant even though she's not part of the 6. However, she might be since Shura killed off Cyca. Yikes.... RIP Cyca

Their designs are so clean!! (Sorry if the images look blurry Tumblr only allows 10 photos per post so I tried stitching them together in Illustrator but I think the file size is too big for Tumblr so that's why it may be blurry but, I hope you get the gist of their designs.)

I wonder what she means by that...I feel like this will be important later. We also don't know much about the other members of the Oración Seis Interstellar. I'm excited to see what their ether gear is...especially Eraser. 👀👀👀 Does his ether have something to do with erasing things? Are they corrupt or good guys? I guess we'll found out soon...

B-Cube

Rebecca has carved 'Edens Zero' onto her B-Cube. Did you guys notice in Ch. 134 that Rebecca's ingrained B-Cube is the same one we see in Ch. 4? That's the scene where there are two robots 20,000 years in the future who find two bodies (a man and a woman) and a B-Cube which we can now confirm is Rebecca's.

The Ships + Other Notable Mentions

LOL I feel like if I was a B-Cuber, I would be an entertainment/fashion channel....basically like Sorcerer Weekly but make it Space Weekly or a cool name like Into the Void. Maybe a play off of 'Cosmopolitan' but shorten it to 'Cosmos.' So many options.

Anyways lets get into the ships. I talked about this first ship in a recent post.

#1 Homura and Creed

I'll say it again...I SHIP IT! I am hoping for some more scenes with them together. He always looks so cute when he blushes <3 He's a Homura stan too hahah. 🥺🥺🥺

Predictions: - Creed and Homura will fight - Creed will protect Homura again - Homura will save Creed - Creed will join the Edens Zero crew

Now, I was reading on a few discord channels that people are comparing Creed to Mest (Fairy Tail). Now, I am really trying to understand this comparison because frankly, I don't see it. Creed has a crush on Homura. That's valid. Also, Creed doesn't just have pictures of just Homura, he has Weisz, Rebecca, and Shiki. He's not creepy like Mest.

Mest was a weird guy when we first met him laying in the pool or eating flowers. Their personalities are totally different IMO. We could talk ages about the age gap stuff but I'm not really gonna go into that.

Do you see the comparison?

#2 Rebecca and Shiki

Shiki escaping from his restraints to save 'Rebecca' made me happy lol. It makes me think what he would do if it was Homura or Weisz in that situation. What would Shiki do? Plus, after the simulation was over...we can see Rebecca in awe and blushing.

Then, Shiki is hugging Rebecca and they're both blushing 💕 That's a cute moment ngl.

"I'm not THAT into Shiki." - So, you don't deny that you like him 😉

#3 Hermit

I don't know if I mentioned this but I fucking love Hermit's name. It's such a cool name.

#4 Justice

Ch. 130 he was looking gooooood with his bandages. 🥵🥵🥵

“So what kind of books do you like to read?”

Emma hesitates with her fork halfway to her mouth. “Um,” she says, then stuffs the bite in and takes her time chewing it as she tries to come up with an answer that won’t make her sound like a child.

“I really like short stories,” she says finally.

“Oh?” Walsh raises an eyebrow and it occurs to Emma, not for the first time, that he can be really fucking patronising. Why did she agree to this date, again? “Saki?” he asks with a smirk. “O Henry? Poe?”

“Fairy tales,” she replies shortly, irritated by him pulling author names out of thin freaking air as though he knows them. Maybe he does, but that doesn’t make it any less obnoxious.

“Fairy tales?” he says with a scoff. “Pretty princess stories?”

Emma frowns. There are no pretty princesses in the stories she’s talking about.

“Witches, more like,” she says. “Baba Yaga. Nourie Hadig. Vasilissa the Fair.”

“Oh.” Walsh looks taken aback, and she draws perverse pleasure from it. He doesn’t know everything, much as he likes to pretend he does. “That’s—well, it’s not what I would have expected.”

It’s not really what Emma would have expected either. She’s never been much of a reader. It was hard to be, bouncing from one school to the next, never really having time to settle in and form relationships with teachers and school librarians. No foster home she ever lived in had much to offer in the way of reading material, and she just never developed the knack of escaping into books.

Not like Killian had.

“Saved my life, is what they did,” he said, tracing the gilded title on his copy of Treasure Island. “When my father was drunk and my mum was crying. Liam made me stay in our room, said there wasn’t anything I could do to help. Which was probably true, but I could still hear them. I could hear—” He swallowed hard, gave his head a tiny shake. “Unless I had a book,” he continued hoarsely. “Then I could shut it all out, pretend I was sailing off in search of Flint’s treasure or taking the Ring to Mordor. Books kept me sane.” He looked up to meet Emma’s eyes. “I’d like for you to know that too,” he said softly. “That… transportation to another place, away from all things that trouble you.”

She shook her head, her chest aching. “I’m not like you,” she said. “Words don’t—I don’t know, they don’t vibe with me. I just get bored if I try to read.”

“What if I read to you?”

“What?”

His face was hopeful, his eyes a drowning blue. “What if I read out loud and you listened?”

“Um, well—” She thought about it. About Killian’s deep, smooth voice telling her a story. About sitting, cosy under a blanket, and just listening to him. “—yeah.” She gave a small shrug. “Maybe, if you wanted to.”

He smiled. “Let’s give it a try.”

And still, Emma thinks, she’s never read a book.

The date ends as early as she can manage it. Walsh drives her home, tries to invite himself in.

“Best not,” says Emma with a tight smile. “My roommate’s probably asleep.”

“Ah.” There’s tension in Walsh’s smile as well. “Sure,” he says. “Your roommate.”

She wants to ask him what the hell he’s trying to insinuate, but also she doesn’t really care. She gave Walsh a chance and it didn’t work out, and—

“I’ll call you tomorrow,” says Walsh. “Maybe we can—”

“I don’t think so,” Emma replies firmly. “I don’t think you and I are going to work.”

“Yeah.” Walsh sighs. “Yeah. Okay, then.”

He gives her a nod then turns to go. No further words are spoken.

Emma turns the key in the lock as quietly as she can, creeps into the apartment on the tips of her toes. The television screen wants to know if he’s still watching but Killian is sound asleep on the sofa. Emma smiles softly as she brushes back a lock of hair that’s fallen across his forehead. This is a turnaround, she thinks. Normally it’s her falling asleep, to the soothing sound of Killian’s voice as he reads her a tale.

She doesn’t think she can carry him to bed the way he does her.

“Killian?” she murmured, nuzzling sleepily at his neck as he lifted her from the sofa. The effortless ease of the motion, the smell of his skin and the warmth of his breath on her cheek had her heart fluttering, her belly clenching with sensations she couldn’t bring herself to name.

“Shh, love,” he replied. “Go back to sleep.”

“But is it finished?” she protested. “How did it end?”

Killian laid her gently on her bed and pulled the blanket over her. “We’ll read the end tomorrow,” he said softly, and she was sure she imagined the press of his lips on her brow as she drifted into dreams.

They never do read the ends, though, she thinks now. The next night is always another story, another ending she falls asleep before she can hear.

“Killian,” she says softly, brushing her fingertips down his cheek. “Killian, wake up.”

“Hmmm?” he mumbles, sleepy eyelids blinking open. “Swan?”

“Hey. You fell asleep.”

“So it seems.”

“I just thought you might prefer to do that in your bed, so you don’t wake up with a crick in your neck.”

“Aye.” He sits up and rubs the neck in question. Emma gulps as she watches the cords stretch as he does, and the ripple of muscle beneath his t-shirt as he rolls his shoulders. “How was the date?” he asks.

“Eh.” She shrugs. “There won’t be a second.”

“I’m sorry, love.”

“I’m not. I wasn’t that into him to begin with.”

“Well, so long as you aren’t upset.” He’s watching her so intently.

“Definitely not.”

His expression relaxes into a smile. “I’ll say good night then,” he says, standing and moving towards his door.

“Good night, Killian.” Her heart twists a bit as she watches it close behind him.

In her room she sits on the bed and kicks off her heels, reaches into the paper bag that sits on her bedside table. A soft knock sounds at her door.

“Come in,” she calls, letting the item fall back into the bag.

The door opens and Killian steps in, rubbing at his neck with one hand and holding a very familiar object in the other.

“We, uh, didn’t get a chance to read tonight,” he says. “And I thought—well, I thought perhaps you might be ready to see some of these endings for yourself. That you might like to keep this for your own.”

He reaches his hand out to her and she takes what he’s holding, staring wide-eyed at the worn cover, her thumb tracing along the F in Fairy Tales.

“But—” She looks up at him, dumbfounded. “This is your favourite.”

“Aye,” he agrees. “It’s seen me through some very tough times. That’s why I want for it to be yours.”

There’s a lump in Emma’s throat and she has to swallow hard around it. “Thank you,” she whispers. “I’ll take good care of it.”

He nods and turns to go.

“Killian!” she cries out, and he turns to her again. “I—I love this book,” she says. “I love it because you love it and because I—” She can’t finish the sentence but Killian’s eyes snap to hers and the look in them is ferocious. She grips the book tight to her chest and reaches into the bag on her table.

“I bought this today,” she says, pulling out another book. The same book. A newer copy, with a tougher cover and illustrated with real engravings. “I was going to read it tonight, but now—” Now she holds his book against her heart and knows she can’t part with it, not for anything. Not for all the world.

“Now I want you to have it.”

“I—” He takes the book almost reverently, eyes shining as he runs his fingers over the cover. “I don’t—”

“I want it to be yours,” she whispers.

“Emma,” he chokes, and then he is pulling her close, his fingers in her hair and their books knocking against each other. “I’ll treasure it,” he says his voice thick and rough with emotion.

The words he doesn’t speak are the most precious ones she’s never heard.

“I love these stories,” she says. “But only in your voice. The words are beautiful but it’s you speaking them that transports me. I bought the new book for the words but it doesn’t have you in it. This one, though—” She grips the old book tighter.

“That one is my heart.”

“And that one—” she nods to the new book, clutched tight against his chest “—is my hope.”

“Your hope?”

“For an ending,” she whispers. “A happy one.”

He rests his forehead against hers and she sighs into his embrace. “Oh, my love,” he breathes. “That, at least, I can promise.”

Okita's Route Part 2: Still on Kyoto Winds because I didn't realise that I'd ramble so much

Predictably, I'm enjoying Okita's route a lot more than Kazama's. Also, I'm skipping a lot less than when I played Kazama and Iba's routes, which makes a lot of sense because Okita is actually in the Shinsengumi and, therefore, gets a lot of screen time. So far, he acts like an asshole but this isn't backed up by his actions. Apart from the casual child cruelty X_X

Chapter, uh, 3? I think...

I feel like Hijikata sticking up for Sanan is just making things worse X_X . Saying that he's not useless because he's a swordsman is just plain wrong. It makes it seem like he's just saying it out of pity. I'm sure that Sanan has plenty to contribute, besides slicing people up.

"Sanan is quite the beloved member here, isn't he? It's nice to see such a tight-knit group." -_- Itou is such a master of shade. Gently implying that they only keep Sanan around because of their relationship. You evil bitch X_X

"Ugh, who brought those bastards into the Shinsengumi?" RIGHT?! Glad to see that Okita's not blindly following Kondou's lead here.
