hope your ex roommate gets jail time or charged for assault bc that's awful and I'm sorry that happened to you, absolutely disgusting on her part. hope you can look into reduced income housing so you can get some damn peace from nasty ass fuckos like her
First offense (on record) so no jail time. She'll have a court date, will likely have court-mandated counseling and community service, and so long as she doesn't get in trouble again, the record will be sealed and won't show up on background checks. My state protects first offenders, but if she gets arrested again she'll have two charges instead of just one.
I've looked into it, and unfortunately section 8 isn't accepting new applicants rn. But I did hit up my old landlord and I'm going to see the place this week. It's pricey, but if I budget Very Carefully, it's doable. And it's a 1 bedroom, so I won't have to worry about housemates.
Which is great bc I literally do not think i can mentally handle living with another person for a Very Very Very Long Time

Possibly controversial opinion on deleting fic: once you post your fic, it's not entirely yours anymore.
Sharing your writing means sharing your writing. When someone reads your writing, they're using their own lived experience to create a version of the story you told. It's a creative act, it's a transformative act. No two people will read your story exactly the same.
The story a reader creates in their head while reading your fic belongs to them. As a fanfic writer, this is easy to understand: you read/watched the canon you're writing fic for, and then you wrote a story based on the one you created in your mind. Doesn't your blorbo feel like they belong to you? Others write about them, too, they exist in canon, but the one that lives in your head, they're YOURS. Nobody else's.
So you've shared your story, and people have created their own version of it in their heads. It's on your AO3 account, so you hold the power to delete it. You should have that power; this post is not an argument against a writer's autonomous right to do as they wish with their stories.
But whenever you consider deleting a story, remember that it's not just yours. You've shared it. You've given it to others and allowed them to create their own versions of it in their heads. I'm sure you've had stories taken away that were important to you: favourite shows disappearing from streaming platforms, beloved books going out of print just as your copy got lost or damaged. It sucks, right? So when you consider deleting a story, remember that there's someone out there who will come looking for it, and who will be sad when they realise that it's gone. They'll have lost something.
"But nobody likes my stories that much" -- wrong. Stories are stories are stories. Whether or not you like your own story, I guarantee you that it meant something to someone. And if you delete it, you'll be taking it away from them.
There are reasons to delete a story. I would never tell an author to never do it, or that they're a bad person if they've done it. I do often wish, though, that fanfic authors were more aware of the power of stories and the impact it can have to take them away. Don't delete your fic lightly. Find another way, if possible. The fanfic community is small enough as it is. It doesn't need to lose stories to you thinking nobody will care if your stories are gone. I promise you, someone will care.

Heya, this is probably just in my head cause I've been typing up a story, but I've been writing books for years but have no clue how publishing works so other than typing one up out of my notebooks and currently working on typing up another nothing gets done with them.
If I wanted to like submit a novel to Gollancz to see if you'd publish it would I need like a writing agent or something?
Hi there! Congratulations on all your writing! Getting started is the hardest part, followed by actually finishing the dang thing (and then followed by whichever bit of editing the author is currently on and therefore hating the most)
We are occasionally open to unsolicited/unagented submissions, however as we are still (shamefully) working through our last batch - thanks to a grave underestimating of how many we would get, and overestimating of how much time we had around everything else - I can't say for certain when we plan to re-open them.
That said, even for authors we pick up through unagented submissions, we would generally recommend that they look into getting a literary agent, and often will refer them to agents we work with regularly! This is for a number of reasons that will benefit both you and us:
Your agent will have a broader knowledge of your genre pool, and be able to submit your work to editors within the field more broadly. If they've been around a while, they'll also have a sense of what each editor's tastes are so they know where it's worthwhile to try.
Your agent should be your biggest champion. They should have a good knowledge of publishing contracts, so they understand what's standard to be asked, and what is unusual. That helps manage expectations for both the author and the publisher in negotations.
They will act as a relationship buffer: when your book is acquired, it'll be based on passion and excitement, and - particularly if you're a debut author - it can be very hard to bring up things you're uncomfortable with for fear of rocking the boat or damaging the relationship with your editor. Your agent gets the lovely job of being able to be the person who can communicate any concerns or things you're upset with directly to your editor, without you having to feel like you have to throw your toys out of the pram directly. The nature of a go-between might feel like a bit of a game of Telephone, but it's actually really valuable to also take a step back from the situation and can often take the panic out of discussions. (Note: You should NEVER be in a situation where you feel like your editor is making you uncomfortable or that they wouldn't take feedback well, however the relationships between authors and editors and agents and editors are very different)
They can focus on the business administration side of things while you get to focus on the fun bit of actually being creative!
There are loads of ways you can pitch to agents - whether it's through one of the many pitching events (PitchWars, PitMad, specific pitching hashtags on twitter etc.), through writing competitions (The Future Worlds Prize is one we're directly involved with for unrepresented British SFF writers of colour) or as a direct submission. If you are submitting directly to an agent, make sure that you check:
Are they open to submissions?
Do they represent books in your area?
What are their submission guidelines?
Most agents will get inundated with submissions - more than it's feasible to read! And if you aren't in their genre, or don't follow their submission guidelines, it's a quick way to get your work disregarded without it even being looked at. Check out Manuscript wishlists, agent websites, and agents' social media to see what's going on!
On tumblr, @literaticat has a wonderful 'Ask the Agent' blog and I really recommend it. Agents on twitter often run AMAs as well, depending on what else is happening, so keep an eye out there.
I hope this is helpful! I'm always happy to answer publishing and writing questions, and good luck with your writing!

Do you ever think about how we have the perfect setup for an Avengers Infinity War level movie with Luke, Anakin, Ben, Dark Rey, Cal Kestis, Thrawn, and Ahsoka?
We could see Cal meet Ben, Anakin meet Rey, Ahsoka meet Ben and just have an epic storyline that really gives The Skywalker Saga, a proper conclusion.
I'd call it Star Wars X: Destiny's Embrace & then two years later do Star Wars XI: Solitude's End
Both would have Rey as the main character. Ben would come back, but at what cost?
Disney has one of the best fictional stories ever created and they'll never deserve it. They've done nothing to prove they truly understand & cherish the unlimited potential it has. Quite the opposite. They've done soooooooooooo much damage to Star Wars since getting it.
Rian Johnson was the man that could've saved Star Wars but unfortunately, Disney didn't just let him take over doing the movies after TLJ.
That movie will go down as the most underappreciated Star Wars movies of all time imo. The amount of things in that movie that still to this day make me wanna actually bother buying Disney+ & watching it at least 3 or 4 times is insane.
Rey & Ben's storyline with Luke is masterfully done. Snoke is handled great & I wish we had Rey interacting with him more tbh. The little smirk she gave him that really screamed "I'm gonna make you pay for what you've done to Ben Solo." Really hit like a train.
Long Live Ben Solo

[ patch ] sender patches up a wound on receiver's body / hunter & octavia / @thewholecrew
Tumblr media
a weak trace of a smile forms on her lips. they've done it this time. gone too far with their surgeries and their torture, and their bloody fucking experiments. octavia can't feel anything. not the agonizing pain from where they cut away her skin. not the usually cold steal against her back or the tightness of the restraints around her limbs. she can't feel a damn thing, and it only makes her happier. this is going to end. it's only a matter of minutes now before she closes her eyes for the last time.
the bright lights that surround her dim, confusion knitting in her brows as octavia does her best to focus glossy hues on the dark figure in front of her. a gloved hand taps at her cheek as she cringes, screwing her eyes shut. it'll pass. all the scientists and her captors will leave. she'll die right here. they'll go away. "come now, miss blake, you're not going to want to miss this." the hand slaps against her cheek harder as she forces her hateful gaze on... stryker. fear leaks into the green of her eyes because if he's here...no. she'll die. there's nothing he can do to prevent that. his mad scientists have gone too far.
she's too weak to need any sedation as protected hands work to undo her restraints, ungracefully moving her from the steal table to a gurney on her stomach. too weak to fight any of them, she grimaces and groans in unimaginable pain that floods back into her system. the burning sensation of the exposed wounds on her back sends tears pricking her eyes. "stop," she protests weakly. the gurney moving down the long corridors causes her stomach to heave and flip, her nails digging into the thin mattress pad before it comes to a halt in a much dimmer room. it's larger than her cage. but too dark for the recovery room. frighten hues shift around what little of the room she can see, but it isn't until she's wheeled close to a man heavily restrained in one of those long torture chairs that she tries to move. "no no no no, please." her head shakes, palms pressing against the gurney in an attempt to force herself up. just let her die. let her die without causing more pain to someone else.
"ah, you see, miss blake, my data is incomplete, and my men got a little overzealous back there." stryker easily forces octavia back down, "i'm sure you understand that in order to cure your vile species, we must continue. discovery after all, requires experimentation. now, let's get you all healed up."
octavia's head shook. it's not possible. she can't heal herself like some fucking magician. even sucking life from another person cannot undo all the damage they've done to her. stryker's gone fucking mad, but he's clearly convinced as he forcefully grabs onto her arm below her elbow, directing her palm toward the awake man. emerald hues lift to the restrained stranger, unable to read his expression as she was forced toward him. "please, stop...please i don't want to, i don't wanna hurt anyone anymore, please," she begs, trying with what little strength she had to pull her arm from stryker. but he touches her palm to the man's arm, and almost immediately, intense pain and agony surge through her. she's never heard this man speak before in her life, but his voice filled her head with his suffering, his struggles as he endured experiment after experiment.
he has to be like her. a mutant, or something, because as octavia locked her eyes onto the man, she watched as her abilities sucked his first, leaving his life untouched. her teeth grit together, trying to stop the spill of moans that bubble in her throat as the gaping wounds on her back heal, the skin regrowing and closing. the process is painful as every bit of torture they've subjected her to today heals. "that's it miss blake, very good," stryker praises her, but it only makes her feel sicker. finally, she could hold her head up properly, strength returning to her body as the man's life force began to drain from him, and as stryker let go of her arm, octavia instantly recoiled. she panted heavily, watching the man she'd almost killed quickly regain colour in his features. amazement and terror battle together inside of her because if this man can withstand her draining...if he can heal himself, heal her...octavia's head shook as the agents moved toward her, properly restraining her now that she's gotten her strength back.
"im sorry..." she murmured quietly, eyes still on the restrained subject as they began to walk her out of the room. if he can heal her...this will never end.

There is no beauty in the damage I have caused,
A trail of destruction follows my every move like a shadow in candlelight,
Illuminating my feeble sense of self and rapidly declining mind.
I am often found tangled amongst the worst nightmares of others,
With the sickly green of monsters smeared across my face,
And a spew of words free-falling from my blue lips,
You will never find me anything other than raw and ugly.
There was nothing I could of done,
No way to save you or I,
The chaos I forced upon our world was the first selfish thing I ever did,
So please understand this: it is nothing if not a kindness for me to remain unlovable.
My darling, didn't your mother tell you to run away from the monsters?
They'll chase you; I should know,
Once they've got you,
There's no turning back,
You'll never come back.

Prediction: The Harkles WILL go to the coronation but refuse to bow/curtsy or say the oath. This will give them huge brownie points with the woke brigade. Plus, they get to show up as family but suck all the air from the event by making it about them. I don't think Meghan is going to be humiliated again like at the Jubilee and funeral. I sense payback from her for these "slights". This will lead to some more Sussex deals and media blitzes. It'll be in the history books too: come on, a son of the King who refuses to bow to the racist institution?! BRF won't expect it so they'll be on the back foot again trying to wrap their minds around it. It's something I've noticed repeatedly with the BRF/courtiers. They didn't understand how to deal with the Harkles because they had never dealt with people willing to defy the rules so much to get what they wanted. Anyone who stepped out of line before got enough flack that they reigned it in. H&M just keep fighting back. It'll rock the institution for sure and that stunt will do more damage than anything they've done thus far. Just my thoughts...
I almost want this to happen.
Charles would deserve the humiliation.

Unforsaken, 8b
(All sections on tumblr)
(AO3, lagging behind but more polished)
The precautions are either unneeded or good enough; no Wizard's Clay is stolen as they cross Rohan.
There is a mishap when fording the Entwash that leads to four crates being submerged.
No one knows how that affects the Wizard's Clay. Dyn thinks probably it just needs to dry out? And the magic in the crates should have protected it? But she's not sure.
Not like they're going to test it on the banks of the fucking Entwash.
Anyway they proceed to the Anduin, above the rapids. Elrohir and Celeborn are there, with a half-dozen light barges (and still some of the Men who brought them).
There are some logistics to work out.
They don't need six barges. They could do it with three, or even two considering not all the oxen will be on barges at once — the wagons and clay-crates could all fit on one barge — but decide it's probably best not to put all their eggs in one basket. (Even if the crates do protect the clay from water damage, no one really wants to try fetching lead-lined crates from the bottom of the Anduin.) They make it four. They can spread the clay out, and have room for extra fodder for the first leg of the trip, where one side of the river is the Brown Lands and devoid of forage.
Celeborn and Legolas already have a good amount of experience transporting cargo and even livestock by barge, though on a considerably smaller river in Legolas's case. Elrohir doesn't have nearly as much barge experience but he's done it before and has handled both tricky boating and unhappy animals before.
Gimli, however, is still not a boat enthusiast, and it's only since going to Ithilien that the Hirnedhrim have seen anything beyond crude rafts (though they at least can swim). Gimli has handled draft animals, if not ones pulling barges; the Hirnedhrim have all herded cattle, but never hitched them to anything.
So yeah, they're probably not going to be able to handle even four boats at once.
Fortunately there's still time to send help, from one direction or the other. But who to send?
The same reasons not to send Elladan stand.
Obviously not any of the orcs.
Sending Maglor would defeat the point of sending Celeborn early. —Which is kind of a shame, because Maglor does have some experience with river barges. (When asked why, he rolls his eyes and says "Caranthir".)
Glorfindel has less barge experience than Maglor, but he's not a complete novice. However—
It's not that Glorfindel is expecting treachery from Maglor and/or Celegorm and/or the orcs generally. He isn't. He trusts Turgon. He is fairly sure he has the measure of the others. He doesn't expect them to make any trouble on purpose. He's just afraid trouble will spontaneously generate in their general location anyway, and wants to be on hand just in case.
The twins and Arwen don't want to take Khitwê and Risyind away from Sharlinnu and (whenever she gets back) Whiterot now. But they can be spared, and they've both done barge-work in Pelndoru.
Khitwê and Risyind understand, and don't complain.
(…About being separated from Sharlinnu and Whiterot, that is. There is quite a lot of complaining about the late-season mountain crossing.)
(Sharlinnu points out that they do, in fact, have the same physical temperature tolerance as every other elf and therefore this shouldn't be a big deal to them. She is roundly ignored.)
*******
A few of the more energetic orcs — goblins — of Gundabad offer to join the Great Goblin's mission, despite the elves.
Bellow appreciates their initiative, but he can't bring anyone who doesn't remember their first life, and he is not recommending that everyone try to do that. Do not try to do that.
No, really, don't do that.
If they want to do something productive he suggests they try to plan out where they'll go when the dwarves inevitably get together a large enough force to take back Gundabad. Probably the Grey Mountains will be left alone a while longer? Or the Mountains of Angmar, if they don't go far afield.
(Bellow feels responsible when people look to him for leadership, all right?)
Whiterot offers to stay behind and keep an eye on things while Bellow — Turgon — returns to Imladris, and then rejoin them when they pass through the Gap of Gundabad. Turgon is a little dubious, but not enough to say anything.

Thinking about Leviathan
If there's typos in this.... No there's not you're blind. Anyway
They're a fishperson
Pirates killed their family thinking they were protecting treasure, it was in fact a baby in the chest.
The captain wanted to just leave Levi to starve to death but the crew pulled the puppy eyes. The captain said they'd drop Levi off at the next port. That was a few hundred ports ago...
Levi loves their family, and grew up not really understanding that pirates are considered evil or bad by most of the population. They aren't told of the bad things their family does though, only the good. They have a skewed perspective of the crew and it took years to come to terms with the fact that their family happily killed innocent people for money.
They're so different from the rest of the crew but everyone on that boat loves Levi as if they were their own child. Leviathan grew up with 3 mothers and 5 fathers 2 uncles and an aunt.
The crew is over protective and Levi was heavily sheltered. The crew was afraid that Levi would be killed, or enslaved if they were alone outside the ship
Their biggest fears came true. Levi went off on a little adventure by themself and ran into a marine officer.
The rumor of a pirate crew with a powerful beast aboard the ship had spread like wildfire and the marine attempted to arrest Levi.
Levi panicked, killed the man then ran back to the ship. A few hours later the marines roll up with reinforcements and they say that they'll let the crew go if they hand over Leviathan.
Each member stepped up and claimed to be Leviathan. Then said the marines can't arrest them all. The marines got impatient and opened fire on the crew. They searched the ship and didn't find Leviathan. They didn't think to look in the large treasure chest in the captains cabin.
Levi had crawled into their old "crib" for comfort after fleeing to the ship. They heard the whole incident and when they climbed out of the chest they found the bodies of their family.
The wail Levi let out shook the earth and caused a tidal wave that destroyed the port.
I'm not sure where I want them to go after that. This is all I got.
Levi knows that the pirates killed their real family and had a whole conniption about it. But realized that the crew had every chance to kill them too or drop them off at slave ring. But they didn't. And that's how Levi knows it was a genuine accident.
Levi is mostly blind, they contracted parasites in their eyes as a child and although they've been removed, the damage was already done. They're sensitive to loud noises and bright lights. Very soft spoken, too smart for their own good and they love the cold.
Slow metabolism, they don't eat much but they're an avid tea drinker. Kinda a snob with teas. Knows a lot of herbal and holistic medicine, smokes like a chimney and has the voice of a siren (not really but they sing really well)
They want to write a book about the true stories of pirates, everyone always tells the scary and bad stories. They want to write about the good pirates.
Although marines killed their family, they don't resent them. It took a while to come to that conclusion but they know that the crew never would have let the marines take them so it never would have ended well no matter what happened

ep33 (1/3): relitigating the suicide scene
Tumblr media
so picking right up where we left off, I know wwx is extremely unpopular now but does this asshole have to bring up the massacre at LP??? that seems targeted towards wwx's specific and fairly private insecurities. but once someone is a villain, that means everything they've ever done is tainted. so as if this wasn't bad enough, now he has people on all sides turning on him with emotional attacks far more damaging than any physical wounds they could impart
Tumblr media
oh yeah and people telling him directly to die. really heartbreaking to see this happen to a character so vigorously attached to life, someone who's been beaten down again and again and who refused to die. and wwx loves his life. loved. you can tell how devastating this is to push someone like him to this
this will always be the most meaningful way that he dies. his suicide is one of the most powerful and significant events in the story. having him torn apart just hits different
Tumblr media
first you tell him to play, now you tell him to stop. it's a good thing he never listens to you. man, but lwj was useless this night
well, that's not true. he tried to save wwx. he reminded wwx, just for a moment, that someone still cared about him. and that mattered
Tumblr media
ohh the single tear
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND the spitting up blood, which alarms lwj so much that someone gets a hit on him. qi deviation?
Tumblr media
and it just goes to show, doesn't it. all the posturing about brave dead soldiers and the loss of innocent lives was just a smoke show to conceal their true purpose. the hypocrisy, the corruption, the greed. as soon as he stumbles they latch onto his source of power to steal it for themselves
Tumblr media
this is so raw. they hardly ever let him get this messy. but that is actual snot on there
Tumblr media
THE RITE OF SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!! IT SOUNDS SO GOOD HERE. also they've been at it for hours, I guess? it's dawn
Tumblr media
check out that sick cgi hand being severed from its arm. they're all just fucking killing each other trying to get the STA now. gloves off. sect leader yao just slit a guy's throat
I've seen a post like 'lwj killed a bunch of guys in wwx's defense at nightless city, I guess they just politely don't mention it' but lbr, nightless was a bloodbath because of the sect members killing each other too. if they bring up what any one person did, they'll have to face what they all did. better to blame all deaths on wwx
Tumblr media
oh, bad cgi hand stab. my beloved. grabbed my attention early on
Tumblr media
and this, and this. he's at his limit. he's been holding it in, but now he's just openly sobbing. at this point I'm ready for him to go. better to come back later, more at peace, than stay here and suffer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DEVASTATING. we know wwx will come back, eventually, but for lwj? he's watching the love of his life kill himself and he's powerless to stop him
I don't think cql lwj ever could have taken wwx anywhere against his will. even now, he's begging rather than trying to physically stop him. he didn't fly down on his sword to grab him. he doesn't have it in him to impede wwx's autonomy like that. even now
Tumblr media
and here's more tears. beautiful shot
Tumblr media
classic shot
Tumblr media
another classic shot. looking like he can hardly believe it. I like when they talk in fics abt him losing his mind and not remembering or understanding much that happened this night. I don't think he's quite lucid. he didn't even seem to see lwj earlier. but he smiles a little, when he sees him. good old lan zhan, trying to save a lost cause
I also really like the blood running down his chin. I think it adds to the look really well
Tumblr media
no words for this one. fuck. he must be so tired
Tumblr media
jc's emotional journey here is worth paying attention to. obviously it's not the black and white hero-vanquishing-evil scene we saw at the beginning of the show, but I've seen multiple readings that try to simplify it in other ways, that try to say 'this is a private moment between only two characters', between wwx and jc or between wwx and lwj, when I think it's very clearly a significant interaction with both of them. jc and lwj are the two characters with the most significant relationships with wwx, and neither of their respective roles in the story can be shoved aside for the other. at least, not in the flashback arc. postres it's a bit of a different story
anywa wwx is never going to have a simple relationship with jc. especially not here or now, not after what just happened.
I have seen people criticize jc really harshly for killing his brother, which is annoying because it doesn't offer any context as to who wwx is or why this is happening. anyone can kill their brother, it all depends on why. I'd rather criticize him for things in the context of the scene
Tumblr media
and why is he smiling? well, like with lwj, maybe it's nice to see a familiar face at the very end.
wwx is already planning to die here. jc's actions don't make that more likely, but they probably hurt wwx on an emotional level. or maybe he finds it fitting, a just end after what he feels like is an unforgivable crime. I don't think that makes jc's actions here better, btw. I still think this was a horrible thing to do to someone who loved and sacrificed so much for his family and for innocent people, whatever his mistakes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he looked resigned in the moment, but revisiting it, it looks like he's bracing for pain. oh god this all hurts so much. I don't care who 'really' killed him. the emotional scars matter far more. and this isn't something wwx is going to forget when he wakes up. he has his eyes closed so he can't see how scared and sad jc looks but like, does it matter? must he coddle jc even now, when jc's about to try to kill him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yeah it's pretty unambiguous that he stabbed that rock on purpose in order to dislodge it. the camera pans back up to him, he looks determined and angry, and he twists his sword. I've seen so many arguments and speculations on it and um he doesn't look confused or anything just terribly terribly sad. there's part of him that's grieving wwx too even as he tries to kill him. damn, but he always gets in his own way
I do think it's significant that he doesn't outright stab wwx - after all, why change it from ep1? maybe to make clear that this was a suicide more than a murder, despite appearances
Tumblr media
yeah wwx sees what's happening and twists out pretty clearly
Tumblr media
and jc looks...stunned? shocked? horrified? a bit dumb with his hair like that. this is hardly a straightforward or easy emotional time for him. he probably went home and cried for week and refused to consider that he might have been crying for wwx just as much as jyl
that being said I have limited sympathy for him over grieving wwx. like he didn't even try. he wanted him dead, and he died. though characteristically, wwx succeeded where he failed in actually doing the deed
Tumblr media
DYING WITH A SMILE ON HIS FACE. HE KILLS ME I SAY
Tumblr media
lwj obviously is devastated but jc here is shaking his head, as in disgust or disapproval. really, jc? he's dead, and you're still going to hold him in contempt?
Tumblr media
this 'wei ying' got me way more than the first one did. soft, and broken, and full of regret.

I'm seeing people saying we're done with Mike and Gus, do you think that's true?
no idea, honestly, on the one hand, 6x09 would be an odd/anticlimactic place to leave them, but at the same time, their storylines in bcs were always going to be the most difficult to wrap up because they already have definitive endings in brba. it's like their stories here are open ended, because their stories there are already closed. so, while it would be unusual to leave them, i can also see how the emphasis on them in that episode speaks to small endings, in a way.
gus is free of lalo, free to continue on with his superlab and his grand revenge, though we know it will destroy him. he has a brief moment of possibility and connection with david and turns it aside, because he's shut off that part of himself, too set on his course to ever choose differently.
mike scrubs clean the remnants of an innocent man, bloody rags wrung out, snapshots thrown into a fire. he then has a discussion with a man who has lost his son - my boy is gone, a refrain mike knows far too well in the darkest and loneliest parts of his own mind, repeating how he broke his boy, and they killed him anyway - and he gives him an empty promise of justice, that this man, who is far better than he, immediately rejects, tells him it means nothing, it can never bring nacho back, and all of them, these criminals with their petty, destructive wars, their useless vengeance, are the same. and mike continues on his dark way, his bad choice road, because it's too late to do anything else, and he shaves off a little bit more of his soul. there's a certain poignancy if his last scene in this show revolves around another son he failed to save. the third one will escape, but he'll never see it.
we know they'll get a bomb rigged to a wheelchair and an angry bullet to the gut, hardly long from here, a handful more years (a crazy handful of nothin', in the end), though long enough to do even more damage than has been done, because that's where these decisions carry them. there can't be real resolution to their arcs here. they are predestined tragedies. they're ghosts, walking and talking in the ether of the past. they're dead already. they've been dead all along.
so, it's hard to say how they might use them effectively again. maybe they will have reason to, maybe not. if they don't, i will understand why the story left them in those specific moments.

im SO curious about the Soldier, Poet, King universe you've built, specifically about what of xichen's childhood jgy and mingjue could see through a threeway drift? jgy and xichen have already connected on that deep, deep, emotional level and jgy and mingjue know each other like the backs of their own hands and the connection mingjue and xichen could have as two older brothers who never had a choice to become the men they are today, as witnessed by jgy, could be So interesting! maybe all three of them could drift and go to a nice memory somewhere in the void where they could see each other as children and like. have a therapy picnic at the top of a grassy hill healing from their childhoods a little?
Im also curious about what kinds of chronic pain mingjue and jgy must be experiencing daily, and what else xichen could do to ease their pain a little bit! also i NEED to know. do nieyao have a shared closet space and how do they navigate integrating their stuff with xichen? PLEASE tell me he gets a drawer of his own and his own pillow
Ahhhh yes I do still need to stick them in a Drift all together!! It'll happen, trust me! As far as what they'll find -
Even in LXC's drift with JGY he was still holding back a bit - one doesn't just repress repress repress for 20+ years and then open up all at once, so there's still definitely some stuff to drag up to the surface. I think he's still doing his best to avoid it during all of this mess going on with them recovering from their drift and then NMJ being all pent up and angry with their situation and everything he's like "Ah yes good, other people's pain to take care of :) :) :) I don't need to think too closely about my childhood still, look, there's no space I'll just take care of my partners" so he's like. Not doing the amount of introspection he needs 😂 Classic.
But once they all get in there together, LXC will get to experience the full force of Nieyao's dynamic, rather than just getting JGY's one side, and he'll realize that there's nowhere left for him to hide. They've done their processing and their healing with each other, as much as they can, and so when they get in the Drift with LXC they're both going to be completely focused on him. And I think you're absolutely right about NMJ bonding with him over having to be the older brother who's always in control, always knows just what to do. I think they can already feel that from each other to a certain extent but it's magnified a thousand times when all their walls are down, and JGY is just going to be like 'holy shit I'm glad I didn't have to raise A-Yu'. But then they're going to have to get to the part where LXC has to trim bits off himself constantly to make himself palatable and respectable and NMJ is going to turn that right back on JGY like 'hey at least I've been allowed to actually feel my feelings my whole life' and so Xiyao will bond like that. Loneliness, and respectability, and fighting hard to be seen as the perfect solution to every problem so that they can continue to be needed because that's the only way they feel like they can justify their presence places. I've actually already teased at that a bit with LXC's internal monologue during his failed drift experiments with JWY and QS, but it'll get magnified again when he drifts with Nieyao and digs up the root of that behavior.
And then yes, because their Drift is finally stable (as in not overpowering and dangerous to JGY like they are individually) they'll just hang out after all that mess and share softer things in the Drift. Meng Shi's hugs and love that she absolutely smothered JGY in. LXC's gentle forgiveness and understanding of all of Nieyao's sharp edges. NMJ's fond memories of Lao Nie and raising Huaisang before everything changed. They'll get to be so soft and gentle with each other because it's what they deserve T-T
For the chronic pains: NMJ has frequent and debilitating migraines from the damage done to him during his last Drift with Lao Nie and the lingering effects of it while he'd been losing himself afterwards. JGY was able to help bring him back from the edge of his sanity, but when NMJ was burned by his suit during his solo flight it included parts of his brain that'll just never recover fully. JGY has aches and pains from old wounds that weren't allowed to heal correctly when he was being abused by JGS before being essentially sold back to NMJ, and so he has to carefully watch how much he does in a day to not overtax himself and have a flare-up. He's gotten very good at riding riiiiight up to the line without actually going over it and it drives NMJ insane becasue he's a worrier. There's not too much that LXC can do, but he knows a lot of good accupressure and massage techniques that help make NMJ's headaches milder and less frequent, and he's not shy of tempting JGY away from work with promises of sex and cuddles to get him to not push himself quite so far (and he can also massage him as well to help some of the worst of his muscle aches).
The closet: Their clothes are limited considering the space limitations, but they absolutely just shoved two standalone wardrobes together and jumble all their stuff together because they can't be bothered lol. LXC cheerfully moved all his stuff in without even asking as soon as physically possible after he and JGY recovered from their Drift and Nieyao both found it very sweet and funny to see him asserting himself in their space like that. It helps that they're all color coded - JGY only wears Jin gold, NMJ wears Nie green/grey because he refuses to integrate into JGS's world any more than necessary, and all of LXC's stuff is white. Don't worry, LXC absolutely gets all his own things and their space definitely fits all three of them, especially since LXC lives somewhat ascetically from his upbringing in Cloud Recesses.

1) don't call people pet names. i'm not your "hun". you know who does that shit? people that know they're wrong and are trying to infantialize the person pointing out their bigotry to make themselves feel/look smarter than they really are.
2) i'm fully transitioned. i've never felt dysphoria and i don't feel it now, and i work to make sure others get the care they need. because this bullshit medical gatekeeping is hurting trans people right now. but it mostly targets trans people of color, disabled trans people, fat trans people, and trans people in extreme poverty. people that aren't privileged, like your entitled ass. it's always the most marginalized that are hurt first. and that's not you. which seems to piss you off because you can't play the most victimized victim. so, you hate on other trans people, which brings me to:
3) i've never hated trans people, like you do. which is why i know we don't need to hate ourselves to be trans. you can't understand a trans person not hating themselves. you can't understand a trans person feeling euphoria and joy, instead of dysphoria and misery. that's a you problem, but you're trying to make it everyone else's problem too. "misery loves company" is a saying for a reason.
4) i CAN screenshot it but you will, as you just did, claim you're not talking about "real" trans people. you'll never acknowledge it because you genuinely believe there's "fake" trans people (there's not).
5) you're claiming that these "fake" "confused" trans people are going to take your hormones and surgeries from you. instead of the cis people that are actually doing that, and those same cis people using medical gatekeeping at the starting point for actually taking your hormones and surgeries. you really think other transphobes won't come for you next? you really think they'll spare you because you told them who's neck to step on first?
6) you're claiming that you're protecting those "fake" "confused" people by gatekeeping medical care (which belongs only to the "real" trans people, just like oh-so-special you!) hmm, why does the "fake and confused so we have to protect them from themselves" thing sound so familiar? oh right, it's used by every transphobe ever. it's used by every anti-lgbt person ever. newsflash. you talk like them because you believe the same things they do.
7) there are steps to getting surgeries, ALL surgeries, that prevent people from going "wild" with them. it's informed consent and if a surgeon feels like the patient is rushing/isn't ready, they can put it off for a while to give them time to think about it. which is NOT what you're talking about because that's not what gatekeeping is. there are steps for getting any medication, hormones included. you're acting like trans people are going to "abuse" them. this whole idea you have about people "damaging" themselves by just suddenly jumping into these things... is just wrong and uneducated.
8) some cis people are figuring out their gender, yeah. but they've never taken it so far as to get on hormones and have surgery before realizing it's not for them. the trans people that have de-transitioned and gone back into the closet have done so because of the extreme transphobia they faced. they're not suddenly "cis" because they fear for their safety. the same way a gay/lesbian or bisexual person going back into the closet isn't suddenly "straight". you're hating on the victims of transphobia instead of the transphobes. it's almost as if you completely agree with other transphobes. (and before you "sources???" this one - just google it. there's TONS of writing from closeted trans people about this. learn to leave your echo chamber)
1) cool, I don't 'know I'm wrong', I'm pretty confident in my views actually.
2) I actively am not playing the most victimized victim, nor do I claim to. I purposely don't share any information about myself because I don't want assholes like you or Terfs using any of it as a gotcha in some way, y'all love doing that shit. You have literally no idea what my race, religion, ability, etc.. is and I'm not going to share any of it. Also forgive me if I don't believe you're fully transitioned and never felt dysphoria because you're some cowardly weirdo harassing me in my inbox and you could say literally anything to try and prove me wrong.
3) I don't hate myself, and I don't believe you need to have yourself to be trans. That isn't what dysphoria is. Youre an idiot lmao.
4) "I CAN screenshot it but I'm not going to" you're a fucking pussy lmao I've never said it so you can Screenshot it, you are so full of shit and you know it. You just wanna make a trans person you hate look bad
5) have you ever heard of detransitioners..? Tell me how much you hate them too I guess bc they disprove all your bullshit
6) again have you heard of detrans ppl because crazily enough you can't just choose to be trans and nondysphoric ppl who take hrt wind up with problems because of it :/
7) I'm well aware given I HAVE to go through all of it. As in I don't have a choice if I want to be happy. You literally hate dysphoric people so much oh my goodness
8) "no one who has ever gone on HRT or identified as something for an extended period of time and if they go back or realise they were wrong they are actually not, it's just bc of bigotry" wow I didn't expect you to tell me in this ask how much you hate detrans people. Youre actually just an awful vitriolic, violently transphobic person huh

Top 8 Reasons To Hire A Professional House Painting Company
Painting a house is a tedious, time-consuming job. Not only do you have to prep the walls, but you also have to clean up after yourself and deal with any unforeseen issues that come up during the process. In other words, painting isn't something that you should try on your own—even if you're an experienced DIYer! That's why hiring professionals like us at House Painting Co. is so important; we handle all aspects of the project from start to finish so you don't have to worry about anything else but enjoying your newly-painted home!
Tumblr media
Experience
Hiring a professional house painting company is not something you do on a whim. You should always be sure that the company you hire has years of experience in the industry, and that they have been able to provide excellent service to their clients over the course of that time.
A professional house painting company will know exactly what they are doing because they've done it many times before. They know how long each task takes, how much damage can happen during each stage of the process, and what potential problems may arise during any given phase of your project (and how best to fix those problems). This makes it much easier for them to complete your job quickly with little risk involved--you don't want someone who doesn't understand what he or she is doing making mistakes or causing damage!
Pricing
Pricing is a major consideration for most homeowners. The fact is, you can save money by doing your own painting, but you'll likely spend more than if you had hired a professional house painter in the first place. If price is an important factor for you and your family, it's best to get several quotes from different companies before making any decisions. Also keep in mind that most contractors offer financing options so that there are no upfront costs involved (some even offer 0% interest rates).
Contracting
Hiring a professional house painting company is the best way to ensure that your project will be done right, on time and within budget.
First and foremost, when you hire a professional house painting company you will get a contract that clearly outlines their responsibilities as well as yours. This document should include:
A clear timeline for completing the job (including start date)
A final cost estimate with all fees included (e.g., materials, labor costs)
Information about any additional work that may be required (e.g., extra coats of paint)
Finishing Touches
A professional painter will clean up after themselves.
They are going to make sure everything is done to your satisfaction, and if something isn't right, they will fix it immediately.
They'll make sure the job is done right and on time--not only for your sake but also for their own reputation!
And lastly, but certainly not leastly: Your painter will ensure that all costs involved with painting your home are within budget (or even less than expected).
Insurance
Insurance is one of the biggest reasons to hire a professional house painter. When you use a licensed and insured contractor, you can rest assured knowing that your property and assets are protected from any damage that might occur during the job. Your homeowner's insurance will cover repairs if something goes wrong with the painting process, but it doesn't cover any damages caused by poor workmanship or oversight on the part of your contractor.
In addition to protecting against potential disaster scenarios like fire or flood (which we hope never happen), hiring an insured painter ensures that they'll be able to pay for damages if they occur nonetheless--and since their liability insurance will kick in immediately upon accepting payment from clients like yourself, this means that any claims made by unhappy customers will be covered by them rather than having to come out-of-pocket as well!
Branding
Branding is a crucial part of the house painting business. After all, it's what differentiates you from other companies and makes your customers remember you.
When people think of branding, they often think of logos and advertisements. While these things are important in terms of making sure that your business stands out among competitors, they're not the only things involved with branding--and they may not even be the most important ones! The way that you interact with customers can make or break their experience with your business; if they like how well-branded (and friendly) everything feels when talking to someone at your company, then chances are good that those same people will come back for more work later on down the road.
The Personal Touch
You want a professional to paint your house because they have the skills and experience to make it look great. They'll also be able to do so without damaging anything in the process, which is important if you value your home as much as we do!
While many people believe that hiring an amateur painter will save them money, this isn't always true. In fact, it can actually cost more in the long run because inexperienced workers may not know how best to handle certain situations like cleaning up after themselves or protecting surfaces when working with harsh chemicals (like bleach). This means that they might leave behind unsightly messes for you--and we all know how frustrating that can be!
On top of all this: hiring someone who cares about doing good work means that they're going to take pride in their workmanship and make sure everything looks perfect before leaving.
A professional house painter will take care of everything.
A professional house painting company will take care of everything. They will take care of the entire process from start to finish and ensure that you get the best results possible.
They will handle all the insurance, licensing and bonding so you don't have to worry about any legal issues that could arise during the project. They also handle marketing and branding so you can focus on other areas of your life while they do the work for you! Lastly, they provide a personal touch which is something we all need in this busy world we live in today!

In this article, we're going to explore the world of affordable roof repairs in Melbourne and introduce you to expert roofing services that will make your life a whole lot easier. So, sit back, relax, and let's dive right in!
The Importance of a Well-Maintained Roof
Have you ever stopped to think about the vital role your roof plays in safeguarding your home? Just like a trusty umbrella keeps you dry during a rainstorm, a well-maintained roof shields your house from the elements. From rain and wind to scorching sun and pesky critters, your roof acts as the first line of defense against potential damage. That's why it's crucial to ensure your roof is in top shape, and if it isn't, to promptly seek affordable roof repairs.
Signs Your Roof Needs Attention
Now, you might be wondering, "How do I know if my roof needs repairs?" Great question! Let's explore some common signs that indicate your roof requires some tender loving care:
Leaks and Water Stains: Are you noticing water stains on your ceilings or walls? Perhaps you've even encountered the dreaded drips during a rainstorm. These are clear indications that your roof is compromised and needs attention.
Missing or Damaged Shingles: Take a moment to scan your roof. Do you see any shingles that are cracked, curled, or missing altogether? If so, it's time to call in the experts to fix the issue.
Sagging or Uneven Roof: A droopy roof is never a good sign. It could be a result of water damage or structural issues. Either way, it's crucial to address this problem promptly to prevent further damage.
Increased Energy Bills: Have you noticed a sudden spike in your energy bills? A poorly insulated roof could be to blame. Damaged or missing insulation allows precious warm or cool air to escape, forcing your heating or cooling system to work harder.
The Solution: Affordable Roof Repairs in Melbourne
Now that you're aware of the signs that your roof needs attention, it's time to explore the solution: affordable roof repairs in Melbourne. Fortunately, there are expert roofing services in the area that specialize in providing top-notch repairs at budget-friendly prices.

Benefits of Professional Roofing Services
You might be tempted to grab a ladder, some tools, and attempt a DIY roof repair. However, enlisting the help of professional roofing services in Melbourne brings a multitude of benefits:
Expertise: Professional roofers are trained in the art of roof repairs. They have a deep understanding of different roofing materials, techniques, and safety protocols. Their expertise ensures that the job is done right the first time, saving you time, money, and potential headaches.
Quality Materials: When you hire professionals, you can rest assured that they'll use high-quality materials for your roof repairs. This means enhanced durability, longevity, and improved protection for your home.
Safety First: Roof repairs can be dangerous, especially for those without proper training and equipment. Professional roofers prioritize safety and have the necessary gear to navigate your roof safely. Leave the risky business to the experts!
Time and Cost Savings: While you might think a DIY approach saves money, it can actually cost you more in the long run. Professionals can efficiently complete the repairs, saving you valuable time and preventing further damage that could lead to expensive repairs down the line.
Finding Affordable Roofing Services in Melbourne
Now that you're convinced of the benefits of professional roof repairs, the next step is finding affordable roofing services in Melbourne. But don't worry, it's easier than you think!
Start by doing some research online and reading reviews from previous customers. Look for roofing companies that have a solid reputation, positive testimonials, and reasonable pricing. Don't be afraid to ask for quotes and compare them to ensure you're getting the best value for your money.
Additionally, seek recommendations from friends, family, or neighbors who have recently had their roofs repaired. Personal referrals can provide valuable insights into the reliability and affordability of various roofing services.
Maintaining Your Roof's Health
Congratulations! You've found the perfect affordable roofing service in Melbourne, and your roof repairs are complete. But the journey doesn't end there. To ensure the longevity of your roof and prevent future problems, it's essential to invest in regular maintenance.
Here are some simple tips to keep your roof in tip-top shape:
Clean Gutters: Regularly clean your gutters to prevent clogs and ensure proper drainage. This will help prevent water damage and prolong the life of your roof.
Trim Overhanging Branches: Overhanging branches can scratch or damage your roof during high winds. Trim them back to maintain a safe distance from your roof.
Inspect for Damage: Perform regular visual inspections of your roof, especially after severe weather events. Look for signs of damage and address them promptly to prevent further issues.
Conclusion
Your roof is a vital part of your home's protection, and affordable roof repairs in Melbourne can ensure it stays in top shape. By recognizing the signs of roof damage, enlisting the help of professional roofing services, and investing in regular maintenance, you can keep your roof happy and your worries at bay.

✉ @portraitsof said: [ META ] + family, found or otherwise ( for toga !! )
In terms of her biological family, Toga has a very complicated relationship with them. On one hand, she does miss them sometimes. Some part of her still longs for their acceptance, for them to apologize for the damage they've done to her, for not loving her as she is.
More than anything, though, she deeply resents them. She spent so long trying to hide her true nature and conform to their expectations that she almost lost sight of herself and forgot who she really was. Up until she snapped and ran away in middle school, she was constantly putting on a façade to try and please them, but their praises never made her feel any better, because she knew this wasn't who she really was. It pains her deeply to know that they'll never accept her. She feels like she's wasted most of her life trying to be someone she's not, and she fully intends to never go back to that life. She tries not to think about them at all most of the time because she spent so long only thinking of them, and because it's so painful for her. She just can't understand why they treated her that way. Why was she so wrong for just being herself? Why couldn't they love her?
On the other hand, Toga cares deeply for her found family in the League of Villains / Paranormal Liberation Front. Joining them was the first time she ever felt like she truly belonged somewhere, even if things were a bit rocky at first. She feels like they see her for who she truly is, and for the first time in her life, they weren't frightened. They accept her and value what she contributes to the group, which is something she'd never experienced before. She admires them, too, in that they're also unafraid to be their true selves in spite of what society says is "right" or "normal". To say the least, she would do anything for her fellow villains and views them as her real family.
