hey, i've been seeing several blogs reblogging the tony fanart with the cape, i just wanted to mention that the OP tagged is a st*rker (i have the tag filtered) , idk if you care about the discourse or not, but it makes me really uncomfortable

I’ve been debating whether to even answer this, because it’s going to cause some backlash, but what the hell; I’m having a slow night.

Personally, I don’t like starker content.

However, #1: The picture in question is of Tony wearing Stephen Strange’s Cloak of Levitation. Regardless of how the OP tagged it, there’s no hint of Peter anywhere in the art, much less anything shippy having to do with him. No one who looks at that art on my blog is going to get a starker vibe from it. I mentioned the ironstrange ship in my own tags, but the only way they’ll even see the OP’s starker tag is if they click through to the original. I don’t know about the rest of tumblr, but I almost never click through to originals unless there’s a readmore link. So I feel okay having the art on my blog, no matter what its original tags were.

However, #2: I’m not going to get involved in Discourse(TM) about the starker ship. There are a lot of ships I don’t like, for one reason or another. My reaction to them is to... not engage with them. I blacklist the tag or unfollow the creators, and get on with my life. I don’t like starker myself, but I’m glad the starker fans are out there having fun. Yes, I see why it might be problematic and even triggering for some people. I am not one of those people. (tbh, I had a much worse reaction to the brief flare of Clint/Loki fics after the first Avengers movie. At least starker fans aren’t starting from a canon relationship of violation and abuse.) I’m on tumblr for a good time. It’s my escape from the ugliness of the real world. I curate my experience accordingly, and I’m not about to try to tell anyone else what they should or should not enjoy.

Summary, for you and everyone else reading: You don’t have to worry about seeing starker content on my blog. But don’t expect me to help demonize the people who like and/or create for the ship, or to take down something I liked enough to reblog because someone else tagged it that way.

If you came here from my main blog you may be thinking “Isn’t this the same thing? Why do you need another Marvel blog?” - and to an extent you would be correct. However, I want to keep this blog purely as a graphics/gifs/edits blog - i.e. no personal posts, no fanfics, no nsfw content etc. 

I plan to post my own gifs and edits as well as reblogged content, so to help me get started please feel free to request gifs/headers/icons!

I think you’ll find this post helpful (https://exclusivelyirondad.tumblr.com/post/175840925415/im-open-to-criticism-regarding-any-possible) Essentially I avoid the st*rker tag and st*rker-leaning blogs, but I won’t notice if something is tagged as such in an original post/reblog unless I saw it in that form. There are two ways bloggers can add to their collection: [1] via the searchbar (wherein original posts are tagged & my browser extensions filter anything I don’t want to see/reblog), or [2] via another user (as in this case, via caoticbarnes, whom I either follow or choose to reblog a preferred captioned/captionless version of a post.)

I think a lot of people, such as OP, use popular tags not knowing they relate to a ship, so I don’t bother digging that deep, but if I’m wrong and OP is a st*rker blog, I’d be happy to take it down (though, from what I saw, they just make celebrity icons). However, I would like to point out that, while it’s alright for you, anon/my followers to use stricter filtering on which posts you will or will not reblog, I have my own standards of filtration. 

I’ll probably try to avoid answering this particular brand of ask in the future if I receive them. If you’d like to send me a private message, you’re free to do so.

how do you find your content? i noticed you post a lot of old stuff too. your bio says you're anti-starker but do you just go into other tags like rom howney or starker to find posts and remove those tags?

My trick is to [A] browse either the Tony Stark tag of Peter Parker blogs or vice-versa (the Peter Parker tags of Tony Stark blogs; statistics are in my favor as the majority prefer the Irondad-Spiderson dynamic over St*rker–that, or they just post scenes from the movies wherein both of them appear), and [B] create my own content either using others’ gifs or my own artwork.  Hopefully this also answers your second question; it is helpful if other content-specific blogs use the tagging system for their work.  To answer your third question, I will admit that at a more desperate time during my blog’s initial ascent did I make two curious attempts to delve into each of those tags to find something that would perhaps be neutral in content, but amidst all the moodboards and promotional images for not-so-innocent fanfiction I became somewhat dizzy, queasy, and overall uneasy.  I quickly discovered, of course, that only St*rker blogs or St*rker-supporting blogs would typically use those tags and make such posts, as anyone outside of that fandom just as soon learns that Irondad and St*rker are two very separate fandoms, and tag their posts accordingly [only original posts show up in the Tumblr search, and not reblogs.  For this reason it is important, unless you are creating original posts, to use tags only applicable to your/your followers’ ability to search your blog and find items, hence this blog’s ‘user friendly’ policy–I do not use more than one tag to describe ‘homecoming,’ for example (such as ‘spider-man: homecoming’ or ‘hoco,’ as that would require more of my time and 3 separate tags.  Moreover, if I were to use one of these at one time and another at a different time, it would make the tag-search difficult for my followers who wish to find all content under that category when browsing my blog.)  However: if I am making my own post, I know that it will appear under Tumblr’s search results, and so I will cover as much ground as I can by tagging it in all of the appropriate ways in which it can be named (I believe the first 3-5 tags are the most crucial, however.)] Thank you for the ask! ^_^
