Pretty upset that musical number in the season finale of Puppet History has some of the most heartwrenching lyrics I've ever heard
It's been a long and winding trip
And who'd've thought it'd come to this
The end of days, a cosmic kiss
Hold your breath and hold on tight
Hunker down, try not to cry
Tell the critters that you love
That you love 'em, that's enough
'Cause there's no stopping what's to come
Some shit's just etched into the stars
Calamities you can't outrun
And when sweet earth we finally meet
The sky will burn and boil the sea
As mountains rend, it's you and me
Here at the end of history
This is about the Chicxulub impact and I am 100% Not Okay about it, but it's from a show about history told by a fuzzy blue puppet that seems to enjoy frustrating a Filipino-American guy who would really rather be talking sports and hunting ghosts. Like. How dare you.

Again I know it's supposed to be a haha reference to the turns into a bear when he's too aroused thing, but in again refusing to brush just over the surface of this character: "I must be careful or I'll lose run of myself again. An Archdruid should show *some* restraint." comes across to me as more melancholy than perhaps intended when a. You take it into consideration that several lines imply that Halsin has issues with self control and self servitude, and presenting an "acceptable" version of himself as an outwards facing authority figure, to the point where he brushes over his own feelings, or pushes things that he wants down in the effort to reflect better what others want from him.
And b. Remember that Halsin was essentially just an apprentice when he was forcibly situationally promoted to Archdruid - he wasn't taught *how* to be an Archdruid or trained for it, or mentored; he was thrust into it because they didn't have any other choice. But they needed someone, so he stepped up. Halsin has spent the last century studying and learning things on the fly or through trial and error, and in a position of leadership like that, he is aware that every failure to uphold that mask *counts* and others *are* very much affected. How many times has he muttered that same mantra? Or heard it thrown around? An Archdruid not having control over their own magic is a big deal. Even when he is no longer Archdruid, he still grumbles it to himself. He's been at it over a century and he *still* doesn't feel like he's gotten it right. Even when he is in a place of progression, of trying to gain hold of himself again, those wisps of failure and self doubt still creep into everything. And that's sad to me.

Yes, Rainbow put those bandages on 100% for aesthetics. And yes, those are all Rainbow's accessories Scoots is wearing and they're all too big for her. They're just having a fun little photoshoot doing cool poses.
Man I loved drawing Rainbow overconfident and arrogant.
I came across this German youtube video (an Easter Bunny parody) with a dope clubbing song (starts 03:25). But the main inspo for these images was the gorgeous lady singing the refrain and her absolutely stunning hairstyle (lady starts at 03:58 if you only wanna see her lmao) , which I immediately wanted to put on Rainbow. Plus I imagine Scoots would want something similar but needed lots of hair pins.

Do yourself a favor and take a seat for this one fam 👍
I fell upon a point
The axis of the spectrum
To bathe in abstract joy
Or die without direction
Determined steps we take
But please, for goodness sake
We’re not gonna make it out alive
I sit for wasted days and toil in desperation
To weep beneath a sky of fractured indication
Let faith lead you down
But please, for goodness sake
We’re not alive; we’re just getting older
I would help you, but I can’t
Seems that time got the upper hand
To live yet never understand
Is there a purpose?
But you look like heaven crashed on your shoulders
And you look like heaven crashed on your shoulders
And you look like heaven crashed on your shoulders
And you look like heaven crashed on your shoulders
But you look like heaven crashed on your shoulders
(Do we)
And you look like heaven crashed on your shoulders
(Deserve this)
And you look like heaven crashed on your shoulders
(Do we)
And you look like heaven crashed on your shoulders
(Deserve this)
Live by the subordinate belief
That we are more than this we live
By the subordinate belief
That we are more than this we live
Okay so you guys are just gonna have to trust me on this one. This came from an(other) anon source since the link on Way Back Machine is dead. This was published to Ves's YouTube channel on July 15, 2012. The description said something along the lines of this (basing it off memory, it's very loose):
I wrote this song about the idea that humans have evolved beyond our means. We suffer implications due to our sentience and awareness of our world, which leads us to questions we cannot answer. Animals are programmed to fear death but they probably aren't aware of its inevitability, where humans most certainly are, but are totally powerless to stop it.
Update on this song as of December 2023:
Two different Anons provided me with more background info. The first screenshot is the original description that Ves had (he also worded things in a much better and more Vessel way than I did lol). The second screenshot is copy+paste text from the lyrics portion below the description. I updated the lyrics to reflect the text.

My translyrics for Salamander, written out under the cut :D
This one was much more difficult than the last, but I'm still very satisfied with it! 😤 I'm both sad that my version lost a lot of the fun soundplay of the original, and also waaay more impressed with the lyrics and vocals after digging it like this! I tried to keep it balanced between the original and Fuuta's version, though maybe it ended up leaning more toward the cover, idk. Leaving my specific notes in the tags 👍
Salamander~ Hot's nice, don't you agree? This pa- passion's fine, see?
"But" isn't what I wanna hear, so say "more" loud and clear.
It's heating up all through my mind when I'm with you.
I want a taste, but all this spice may prove more than I can take, (eh?)
Something's on your mind. So spit it out and tell me, don't waste my time, kay?
I'm hooked on this, pass me a dish.
The way I'm starving here without you -- it's a crime
A spicy treat, put on repeat,
Can I get seconds with the same heat? One more time!
Salamander~ Hot's nice, don't you agree? This pa- passion's fine, see?
"But" isn't what I wanna hear, so say "more" loud and clear.
It's heating up all through my mind when I'm with you.
I can't stop anything, although I wouldn't want to stop, oh no --
Take a breath, it's best to cool down or you earn yourself a burn.
I want a bite, I can't help giving in to this new appetite.
Again, again, I want to be on fire when I get to the end.
We live too fast, we burn to ash,
I never handled spices well and it's a crime.
A spicy treat, put on repeat,
Can I get seconds with the same heat? One more time!
I want to burn bright red
I want to burn bright red
Salamander~ Hot's nice, don't you agree? This pa- passion's fine, see?
"But" isn't what I wanna hear, so say "more" loud and clear.
Tell me I'm not alone in my mind!
Salamander~ Look what's happened to me. This pa- passion's crazy
Tell me I'm not delirious, I'm being serious.
It's heating up all through my mind when I'm with you.
I can't stop anything, although I wouldn't want to stop, oh no --
Take a breath, it's best to cool down or you earn yourself a burn.
I want to leave I want to go, but I can never stop, oh no --
Take a breath, it's best to cool down or you earn yourself a burn.

I know there’s been surveys or other posts asking about the inspiration for blog titles…
but does anyone else have a title that has deep meaning to them?
my main’s isn’t that deeply meaningful but I did decide on it for a few reasons:
1. シンゴペーション or Shingopation is the name of one of Shingo’s songs…which should be enough said cuz cute but…
2. Shingopation was the first SMAP (…SMAP-adjacent…) song that earned a spot on “What’s Alex overplaying?”
3. For some reason, syncopation is probably one of my most favorite words becsuse of how satisfying it is to say… “sin-co-pay-shun”
I don’t know it’s always made my brain happy since I heard Selena Gomez use “syncopate” in Good for You which is still kind of a bop?!
—
my sideblog’s though…
朝が来る or Asa ga Kuru (“morning will come”) is from one of Takuya’s songs and it had such a profound effect when I first heard it…and honestly continues to have one
long story short, there’s a reason why Karei naru Ichizoku is probably always going to be one of the greatest pieces of media I’ve ever watched (and why I really, really recommend watching it)
even if you feel like it’s impossible to get back up…morning will come again…
…morning will wait for you…
(by the way, as far as I’m aware the song doesn’t [intentionally] have this meaning but the lyrics really spin it that direction unless you take them literally)
