Brocedes-coded songs (pt. 1)
Deep into the Brocedes brainrot rabbithole, I have compiled some songs which reflect the nuance of their relationship. Am I doing this because I just finished school and find myself with nothing better to do? Absolutely.
Just to clarify, this is merely fictional conjecture and does not reflect the legitimate state of Brocedes’ relationship (tldr: this is a shitpost).
#1- John My Beloved (Sufjan Stevens)
Starting off on a semi-obscure note and the connections here might be a *bit* of a stretch, but some of the lyrical parallels are golden (or should I say, silver).
Aside from the line
appearing approximately 10 seconds into the song, a clear indication that the lyrics would be from Lewis’ perspective, we get into some of the more impactful leitmotifs, including:
OUCH. I read this as the feigned niceties which were necessary despite the behind-the-scenes Merc infighting starting in approximately 2014 when things started heating up. Winning the championship is a task of individuality, and would inherently ostricize Nico from Lewis when the duo would start intensely competing for it.
Then we repeat the same leitmotif with slightly different lyrics, arguably the strongest comparison with Brocedes.
These lines reveal a bit of a double entendre. Prior to the separation, the two attempted to hang on to their fractured relationship. "Can we be friends?" refers to the longing to maintain a relationship. It now more closely correlates with Nico's desire to rekindle a friendship with Lewis now that he has retired. Lewis has not returned the sentiment due to the elements of betreyal which riddled their 2016 season, revealing the one-sided pining.
ALSO THE LAST TWO LINES AHHH- The media is notorious for misconstruing representation of relationships. Formula 1 is known for enhancing the dramatic nature of rivalries. It could be true that Lewis and Nico still share an extremely close bond, yet the media as well as the fans (more prominently) refuse to acknowledge this in favor of the heated drama. "The world" cannot comprehend the true bond that the two share, instead opting to assume that they are no longer close.
THIS. LINE.
This is by far the closest connection to the duo. The plea to contend peacefully, as opposed to the heated exchanges of the past is a sentiment shared by both. All they wanted to do was fulfill a childhood dream together and they were ultimately left with a tattered relationship.
"Before our history ends" is a reference to the lasting legacy that the duo will leave as rivals and individual drivers.
It reveals a finality to their association and a cessation of the non-speaking terms on which they now stand.

I am just......weirdly compelled by this one. I'm not sure what it is. F3 teammates lore maybe? Chalex chose me one day and it makes me pause and go "hm" sometimes. Very compelling, I enjoy it.

4. galex
Galex are a warm hug. They are just what you need when you're at your lowest. The narrative is sweet and compelling, with mastermind George Russell being down just a bit horrendous. The anecdotes about them from their teenage years are also just so....childhood best friend who you admire greatly. I love them.
3. landoscar
Look, McLaren worked a miracle here. I'm not a massive fan of Lando on his own, but Lando if he does PR with Oscar? I'm sold. This dynamic is just incredibly entertaining, the fic is INSANELY fun. You know if you approach any sort of landoscar content you're going to leave feeling bubbly and thinking "well that was a good time". They're my ditzy night out of ships. I love them so much

They haunt my brain. They are my Roman Empire. I think the below screenshots sums up my feelings about them

It could never be anyone else. The predestined and the inevitable. The soul tie they share and well, I run at least two blogs dedicated to them. They are once-in-a-generation talent born twice, with slightly too many coincidences for me to think it's anything other than destiny for them to fight for championships. We're privileged to get to watch their narrative unfold in real time, and I can't wait for the coming years.

Random f1 fan: “Lestappen has no drama.”
— The 2019 Austrian GP where Max ruined the chance of Charles’ first win and Charles then unfollowed Max but they still took the same plane to leave. The 2019 Silverstone where Charles “revenge” to Max. Unfollowing each other but won’t miss any memes about each other on the internet. Claiming Not Friends but still being each other’s biggest fan: 2022 secret santa.

— The INCHIDENT. And many many more intense moments from their karting days. The 2022 Roman Empire in which Max and Charles competed for WDC.

— Armando Filini, manager of the Maranello Kart, the first team for which Leclerc raced. “They were always fighting. It didn't matter if they were competing in a tie or in a final, if it was raining or if the track was dry. Once we were in Genk, Belgium, in the first free practice, and they went on track. Charles and Max met, began to push each other and almost hit each other, with the risk of being left out. Jos Verstappen and I were glued to the fence to look at them and he turned around and said to me: 'These two will fight forever. They will fight even in F1′. A prophecy”.

— Max and Charles are not intimate friends for sure. Comparing brocedes’ dynamics to lestappen’s only proved you know nothing about lestappen’s lore… ZERO. I knew it’s a popular comparison in the industry but talking about ship dynamics it’s a totally different thing.
I’m surprised many ppl only recognize shipping drivers who are really good friends irl otherwise they call it silly fans’ fabrication.
Lestappen is the type of ship in which Max and Charles don’t need to pretend to be intimate friends but they both care each other so much. This has begun from their childhood rivalry in karting times. Caring doesn’t definitely means they care about each other’s daily life. They recognize each other’s capacity that “you deserve to be my No.1 rival forever.” You can find many cases that they care much more about each other’s performance (even Red Bull recognized it!) and their desire to compete with each other. That’s their biggest tense. They’re not friends but still each other’s biggest fan.

Nico has the perfect life - beautiful wife, beloved children. He also still has Lewis. These two don't go together but he ignores that as best he can. This is a such a perfect look inside the head of a cheater who knows what he's doing is wrong, yet manages to hide the fact even from himself.
When Nico woke up, he had the dull headache of a slight hangover; the previous night crystal clear – the transgressions of his marriage. Nico breathed, imagining the tearstained apology to his Vivi – a lapse in judgment, and turned to tell Lewis they could never do this again, the excuses of being drunk, lonely, convenient. The space beside his bed is empty, Lewis gone already with no traces of himself left behind. Well, that's one awkward conversation made redundant.
It's too cliche to commit infidelity in your marriage and try to overcompensate with lavish gifts, so instead Nico came home with presents for his daughters as always, and made love to his wife, twice. He went down on her for an hour – affirming to himself that Monza was a one off mistake, and making her feel desired, and how grateful Nico was for her, for everything they have built together.

This author's Nico characterisation is always so on point, and I love how she captures the complexity of the Brocedes dynamic. They get a deserved and fitting happy ending in this one, and I loved it so much!
They didn't want to see the way Lewis' face lit up whenever he saw Nico, or the way Roscoe ran towards Nico immediately (because he knew who was responsible for feeding him more often than not), or the way Nico always praised Lewis when he was invited to commentate and still never held back in his commentary, or the newest tattoo across Lewis' heart, or the way neither of them was ever linked to any random love interests, or the way their vacation pictures came from the same place, or the way Nico still somehow knew the grid gossip he had no way of knowing (and used it whenever he saw fit), or the way the causes they supported were very much aligned.

Wifeguy!Nico gets to have his cake and eat it too (aka Nicos wife is okay with sharing him). As a part of the Nico Rosberg support squad I love a fic that lets him have it all and doesnt portray him as a miserable man that let the love of his life slip through his fingers. The Nico in this fic is in a loving relationship with Vivian who also happens to realize that he has always been a bit in love with Lewis and sets about making sure they get their heads out of their asses.
“Shouldn’t there be, uh, rules?” He says into her hair, as she kisses his neck. She pulls back and regards him, amused and wary.
“What do you mean?” He can tell from her face that she knows exactly what he means.
“Viv.”
“We can have rules, if you like.” She lowers her head and nips his earlobe with her teeth. “Use a condom, for one.”
Nico tries not to think about his wife thinking about any activity between him and Lewis that requires a condom and fails, feeling himself getting hard just at the thought. He nods, letting her tongue trace over the curve of his ear. “Anything else?”
“Well, just do – whatever you did before.” Whatever they did before . Without meaning to, he snorts a gentle laugh at the thought.
“What’s so funny?” she mutters into his ear, slipping a hand down his side. Nico has abandoned any pretence now, is quite sure that his wife is actually kind of enjoying this. He tests the theory. “Well, I’m not sure a blowjob in the Mercedes garage is possible this week.” He holds his breath. It’s the first time he’s actually admitted it out loud, rather than just meekly nodding at his wife’s assumptions. She might, he thinks, storm out right now, horrified at the truth of it. Instead, she lets out a moan and shifts in his lap.

After a major crash, Lewis finds ways to recover - and finds solace in his old teammate, Nico. I loved this fic because even though it started off heavy, it got so much lighter and had so many cute, fluffy moments! I love angst with a happy ending!
Lewis hadn't seen his life flash before his eyes when he crashed. If he had though, if his life had flashed before his eyes in all of it's technicolor brilliance, he knew what he would have seen. Not championship wins, not living the high life, but hot days on the beach in Greece. Nico's bare back to his chest, Lewis running a hand through his hair as they dreamed big, dreamed of what they could (and would) do together. He would see all of their good times, and maybe some of the bad too.

Nico the florist is madly in love with Lewis the tattooist. Everyone knows this except for Nico. I enjoyed this fic because the love/hate vibes are immaculate. Lewis lives rent-free in Nico's head, to Lewis's slightly fond bemusement and the entertainment of a stellar supporting cast of other drivers.
“I want to get something for Lando. What is seductive?” Carlos blinks at him, then eyes the freesia display.
“Who the fuck is Lando?” Nico mutters, before he gestures over to the camellias. “Those represent desire, but that’s all bullshit.”
“He needs to know I’m trying to seduce him,” Carlos insists.

It turns out, a familiar face decides to take the seat next to his former rival and teammate : Nico Rosberg is Lewis Hamilton's new teammate. Angst with a happy ending is the love of my life! This is one of my favorite brocedes fics of all time and is a must-read for sure!
There are more flashes of champagne. Flashes of Nico’s smile, of them having pizza in some cheap Italian restaurant at the beach. Eating Kellogg’s Frosties right from the box in the morning, sitting on the kitchen counter, their legs dangling down, thighs touching, them making plans for the day.
Nico’s laugh.

There is a touch, they spin and then they’re both in the gravel. Lewis is fuming and he gets out of his car, the Spanish sun burning down on them. He’s ready to yell, the anger hot and white in him, pooling in his stomach.
They don’t talk for the rest of the day, the coldness between them a stark contrast to the hot anger from before.

Hey I am a new f1 fan and i have to say Lestappen is the reason I actually got into f1 recently and I jus realised that Lestappen is the most followed ship tag on f1 tumblr. Why do you think ppl seem to navigate towards Lestappen even though as a ship, we hardly get content as opposed to some other ships, say, Maxiel piarles carlando etc.
Like the amount of fics for Lestappen or their dynamic in general seem to attract more fans than the usual f1 ships. I wonder why. Is it cuz of the enemies to lovers trope or cuz both of them are cuties who have a seemingly intriguing vibe between them or ?

I can't speak for everyone, but I can talk about why I came to like them:
Purely from an aesthetic perspective, they look absolutely irresistible together. They are both very handsome/pretty guys. They really have this beautiful and vibrant energy around them as individuals, and when they are together, they look like someone's fever dream. So, it is very understandable for people to look at them and think: "Wow, these two would look so fucking hot doing nasty/bad/good/horrible/lovely things to each other, let's write them down so everyone can agree with me."
But it is never just this simple.
Lestappen's true allure lies in the way that their destiny seems to be literally intertivined from day one.
Their past before their F1 careers is filled with so much lore as I am sure you're having fun reading about. They have literally been racing against each other since they were toddlers. Everyone who knows them both says that they are of equal talent in different flavors. That they are generational talents and if they're given the machinery and team atmosphere that they deserve, we'll be in a delicious few years of them fighting for championships against each other (i am looking at you, ferrari). So, the childhood rivals narrative is already grand. At this point, I need to say that I liken them to a reverse Brocedes (brocedes were childhood best friends who broke apart as adults due to their championship rivalry. Lestappen is childhood enemies who as adults became closer and I hope if they get to fight for a WDC, they'll get even more closer like Launt and Makkinen.)
They fit all the popular media tropes both as a couple and as individuals:
They are the Sun and the Moon, the Red Oni&Blue Oni, the Fire and Ice/Water. All the best dichotomies you can think of... Dichotomies are attractive for people and in narration because they generally deal with people sewn from the same cloth who have turned out different due to their circumstances, meanwhile being fundamentally the same. Like both sides of a coin...
They also both fit into these contrasting roles and subvert the trope, too. (I am on the 'subvert the fanpopular assigned roles' team because people cannot be fit into simple stereotypes.)
More than the Enemies to Lovers trope (which i always approach varily because most people write Max like a brute and Charles as a helpless damsel), I think the Fated/Starcrossed Lovers, the Mirror of One's Self/One's Better Half/Soulmates tropes are much more explorable and lend themselves to character study better. Because, their situation looks both simple and yet very complicated.
Of course, I am speculating here as a fanfiction author who works on what I can see/read about these men, but apart from the "differents attract" and the "twink/hunk" flavoured fics going around, what pulls people in is how they seem to have been literally created for each other, this connected by the red string of fate thing they have going on. Their whole worlds seem to be revolving around each other:
They just can't help themselves about showing their fascination with each other (one more so openly and loudly, the other is a bit reserved about it, but slowly slipping and it is delicious to watch).
They are each other's both destinied and chosen rivals (God, the intimacy of this shit right here... leaves no room for anyone else to even be an "afterthought" as long as they have each other in their sights as their target).
The single minded attention they have for anything the other does even if they pretend to not pay attention (they do).
The tension between them. (Sometimes spicy with adrenaline and the need to best the other and sometimes tasting like soft, years long unnamed yearning).
Unnamed, unlabeled... as if the moment they put a name on it, call it friendship, joke about it as a bromance, it will turn into something especially Charles doesn't seem that ready to embrace. Yeah, this is them... They have certainly been something for each other for years, since they were kids... That something grew with them, evolved, sometimes had very sharp edges, sometimes soft and fluffy... the way it never died off, never tapered off even when you think Max has become everything Charles has ever wanted to be, gained everything he has ever wished for meanwhile Charles can only watch and possibly blamed himself for falling short and feeling admiration warring with jealousy in his heart whenever Max looks back at him with an expectant smile as if wanting to share his happiness with him. Possibly hoping that one day, when Charles achieves his dream, he will also look at him with a soft smile and be happy with him, too.
God, it must have twisted Charles' heart so badly when he realized that Max genuinely wants to share his joy with him instead of how he expected him to rub it in his face like many others have done to each other and many people believed Max would have done to him. The way Max is so soft and sunny and kind and thoughtful when Charles must have been expecting a merciless killing machine ready to tear him apart both with his words and his on track moves. But the reverse happened and it is so compelling, like, how the hell Max can be so soft for this guy who repeatedly said he hated him in the past as if he wanted to keep the distance as stable as possible. Lol, it is like we are watching an ice castle named Charles crumble irl, and I bet it is a spectacle for the people of the fandom.
And also, the way Charles can be written as someone who thinks he has more to lose if he falls for/accepts his love for Max, because he might feel he is always going to lose to him and never win against him in a meaningful way... (Here, I must say I don't like the fics where they write Max willingly losing to Charles after they become an item. Charles wants a fight and wants it especially from Max, because in his eyes only Max's kind of fight is both "just" and on par with the way he believes what racing is actually about. This is what made him fall in love with the sports and also with Max.) This right here is soooo juicy to pass for the lovers of angst. You can write Max as his mirror that he both wants to smash and also adore like narcissus did, the way you can write them as soulmates in which Charles feels trapped by his fate, the way you can write them as My Better Half whom I hate....
They elicit a huge emotional response in the fans/consumers of fanworks. So, it is only understandable for people to seek out those strong emotions again and again. They induce heart palpitations and it is an addicitive rush of serotonin and dopamine, so who are we to deny ourselves the pleasure of enjoying them?

Helloooo, i have a genuine question about Charles going to redbull (let me just quickly say that i am not in any way hating on anyone, they're all very talented, so if it seems like i'm shitting on someone, i promise i'm not, it's 2am where i am, i'm very tired and i really just wanna know, and please corrcet me if i'm wrong when stating facts)
Yes, Max and Charles have the same driving style, and have all the lore from their karting days
But what I want to know is, in what world would redbull let Charles (consistently) beat Max? Max has been/ is redbulls golden child, he's been with them since 2016, and he's been very succesful with them, and maybe what i'm saying is wrong but i'll say it anyway: i do kind of believe the team is built around Max? (let's remember how many people were the other driver at rb with Seb and after he left now with Max, like he's the constant and obviously building a team is complicated and idk what goes into it but you can steer it into a certain direction)
And if Charles were to join rb, would he be content with playing second driver to Max Verstappen (who is a 3x wc, like we get angry when Charles has to be 2nd driver to Sainz (who has won like 2 grand prix's) on the occasion (happens too often))
( with this i want to mention the mercedes situation with Rosberg, schuhmacher and Hamilton, where after Michael had left, technically Nico should have been a priority (bcs he'd been there longer), but because Lewis already was a WC, Nico had to be 2nd driver again and brocedes happened) (not that the whole situation is even comparable to brocedes imo, lestappen doesn't even compare)
I truly think redbull are using the whole lestappen thing as a marketing strategy (let's all remember what it's build on) and to create a better image around Max, since they can't really use Daniel anymore because a) he's in the AT seat and b) we saw the uproar from Checo's fans who (rightly, imo) got mad at the whole situation during COTA

Hello and happy (early) thanksgiving if you’re celebrating !!
I think everything you said is very true actually. I know Red Bull likes to say they aren’t built around Max, but they definitely are. And he’s definitely their golden boy. There’s no getting around that, as much as I think the Red Bull team genuinely likes Charles and would support him.
The reasons why I think that can work regardless:
A) Like you said, Ferrari treats him like a 2nd driver to Carlos half the time — which is just insulting, seeing how Charles should be their prioritized driver and Carlos is most certainly not the caliber of driver Max is. I don’t think he would want to be a true “number two” to Max nor do I think he deserves to be a second. However, if he’s going to get treated that way in Ferrari, I’d rather he get second driver treatment in a competent team where being less prioritized won’t damage him as much precisely because he and Max prefer the same style of car mostly.
B) I think if Red Bull were to sign Charles, they’d be doing it with the intention to try to be the team to do two number one drivers and succeed (unlike Mercedes). Liberty Media was very open and public about wanting Red Bull to have two top drivers for the entertainment value. Plus, it would be just one more thing for Red Bull to completely dominate and do that no one else can, which is very on brand for them. Obviously Max may get a bit more preference initially, but I think they’re smart enough strategically to be able to balance their support if it deserved to be balanced.
C) Mostly, however, I think Red Bull is also thinking ahead to the future. Max has been open about wanting to pursue other categories and other opportunities. Half the time he sounds like he might retire in 2028. So Red Bull needs to be prepared to 1) try to keep Max for longer and 2) have a new number one lined up for when he does leave.
I think Charles is a good candidate in their minds for many reasons, aside from the fact he’s just as talented as Max (arguably). Charles is extremely marketable and likable, without the baggage that Daniel brings (and frankly with more talent than Daniel brings). He gets along well with Max and they’ve been able to be friendly about their (f1) battles, both like to drive aggressively against eachother and therefore are more forgiving with eachother, etc. I think if you’re going to try to make Max accept an equal driver it needs to be Charles.* He’s also shown that he can play the team game and he’s historically been angelic about Ferrari in the media, despite how badly they’ve fucked him over. That’s very useful for Red Bull.
(*Lando is potentially a good candidate and Red Bull obviously has tried to get him before. But I don’t think he matches Max and Charles, which means he’d probably just be a good number two and not a true equal. Plus he and Max were always friends, and I think part of why Max and Charles could manage the more tense aspects of being competing teammates is the fact that they decidedly were not friends through karting.
Also, if the rumors that the Hamilton camp reached out to Red Bull are true? And that Red Bull said no because he and Max couldn’t work as teammates? I think that indicates that they know a second top driver would have to work on a personal level, and they think Charles can work. Helmut Marko indicated that Red Bull approached Charles, after all, which means they must have thought it could work.)
Another major thing with Charles that could make him an ideal choice is that he more openly appreciates the… “show” that Liberty Media is trying to bring to f1. Especially with his Vegas commentary, about how he understands why they are trying to bring in new fans, etc. If Max retired earlier or at the end of this contract I think a huge reason will be because he hates all of the show. So lining up a replacement for Max who won’t end up retiring for the same reason is also beneficial to them.
Which actually loops back to that I think Red Bull knows Charles challenging Max and entertaining him / bringing him fun on track again would help keep Max around. I remain convinced that Charles in a good car could keep Max in f1 longer. Red Bull could very much plan on trying to use Charles to coax Max to stay, and if that doesn’t work out then they have Charles still to continue dominating with. It’s a win-win for them.
Now, that’s not to say Red Bull aren’t just using the lestappen angle to boost Max’s likability. That’s very possible and my second top theory behind it. It may even be more realistic, all things considered. But I don’t think Charles considering Red Bull is as far-fetched as some believe, either.

now that I have calmed somewhat (but not really because I’m not normal about Icarus) First of all, I want to say that I love this fic very much and it has made me tear up, scream, sob, laugh and just feel very much. It absolutely lives rent free in my mind. I’m amazed and I want to thank you (and your twin) for this amazing work. I’m sort of afraid to re-read it because the emotional damage, but at the same time… it’s so, so good. So yeah, thank you both.
I really like the voice of the characters and the cadence of your writing. I get this feeling of watching a slow-motion crash, and how I want to scream. Also, it’s very human, messy, and visceral. And I have feelings. Charles and Carlos? I’m dying for the outtake. Jenson? Like, before of this fic I didn’t knew much (I don’t watch Sky. I’m form Latin América, and I watch the regional broadcast form) but now I will die for him. Lando becoming flock with Daniel (and I imagine that it may be out of the scope of this fic but I worry/wonder about Lando and Oscar for 2023 season). Yuki? Pierre? Love them so very much.
It’s amazing how you blend like these media/social media bits that gives the story… this sort of flavour. Makes it a fuller. One of my favourite parts of this is the thing with Seb colleting Daniel’s feathers and how a photo of a fan passing a feather becomes photo of the year. Made me cry a little, and it makes the world seem more real. Also, I really, really love the lore/word building around the wings and how everything works. The subtle changes to accommodate feathers, flight, and flock, amazing. I wanted to ask, what type of wings would you have? The same as your twin?
And yeah. Just. I have feelings.

No but seriously thank you so much! The recent comments and feedback I've been getting for Icarus have been amazing, especially in the past few chapters.
I started out planning this fic mostly around Maxiel but the more I fleshed out the plot the more I realised I had to include most of the grid. Charlos have such a huge role to play and though a lot of it is covered in the outtakes, we'll see development and resolution of their subplot in the upcoming latter stages of the main story too.
Jenson is basically the darling of the older grid (he's flock with so many of them) and I am literally vibrating in excitement thinking about finally addressing the Princess Cake/brocedes/slagclaren (I still can't believe that's the phrase for Lewis and Jenson) mess that we saw a few chapters earlier.
And Lando and Oscar will feature a little bit, towards the end of the fic. I have a specific scene planned out that makes me snort whenever I think of it.

hi kajs!!!! i feel like i'm wording this very much like i'm at the q&a portion of a panel you're on so i'm going to roll with it... my question is...jenson was seen at the time 100 impact awards this weekend. he's just there for the leadership forum but! if jenson was getting an award for making an impact...what impact do you think they'd recognize him for?

okay so i actually don't know what the different categories that they give awards for are so i'm gonna make some stuff up (as usual):
jenson is nr1, top ranked and acclaimed in the Kajs category (kajsegory if u will) he's been bringing home the award for biggest impact on me for YEARS! i bought all his books, i met a ton of friends through him (including you :3) & he's permanently altered my brain chemistry so he's got that one in the bag
biggest Camp (/slag) impact ? i feel like the word camp has lost all it's meaning but he's had huuuge impact on f1 in that aspect.. industrious monagamist playboy or whatever he called himself. while lewis serves up actual good outfits jenson has been supplying the paddock with the ugliest outfits known to man and that has truly propelled f1 forward (in my eyes)...
last but not least the impact he's had on us conspiracists... not only has he not let us crazy people rest a single second (all his stupid tweets abt "maybe i should race something this year 🤔") but he himself has always been a bit funny on this part... i remember the passage abt crashgate (or maybe spygate ?) in his books being very funny and indulgent. also his live slug reaction when lewis talked abt being a better teammate (with nico present) really cemented the brocedes lore so. definitely deserves an award
in reality i think the impact he'd actually be rewarded for is probably his happy and positive mindset.. he's always been very special in that regard that he's just plain nice, which i feel has been great for the paddock's atmosphere and the mental health of everyone involved

I think the drivers' fandoms make a big mistake when they are hellbent on considering the drivers best buddies with each other at all costs.
So of course if there's tension in the team, they assume there's tension between the drivers.
The reality is that drivers are colleagues and rivals.
They are not supposed to be best buddies, we all saw how that ended with Lewis and Nico.
Charles said the driver he's closest to in the paddock is Pierre, but even then they rarely hang out together out of races (even less during the off season, I don't think I know of one instance where they were together; maybe it might have happened but out of pure coincidence)
Pierre also said Charles is the driver he's closest to, but in a video with Yuki he mentioned someone else as his best friend.
Danny Ric and Charles met in Vegas off season by pure chance.

They are friendly and nice to each other, but they are colleagues and rivals first and foremost.
It's not that they're fake, they're simply professional and mature enough to not let rivalry get in the way of being decent and nice to each other.
So yeah I think that even with the recent drama, the relationship between Charles and Carlos is the same as ever, because they were never super close to begin with on a personal level. As teammates they seem to be, but as friends I don't think so. And they don't have to be.
One exception that comes to mind is Kimi and Antonio. In a video Kimi was bidding Antonio goodbay because it was his last day. His wife and children were there too, and Kimi told his kids they would see Antonio soon in Italy for their holiday together. Antonio hugged Kimi's children goodbye. It was all very sweet.
I've never something like that even from Carlos&Lando or Max&Daniel.
And I would never expect to.

I think you are right about most of the drivers. Like I am friends with my colleagues in the sense of us making jokes and stuff and we do sometimes do stuff away from work but their not like my bffs for life.
I'm not 100% in tune with the brocedes lore, but them being teammates and the only ones in the championship battle didn't help.
Charles and Carlos are somewhat friends because they do do things together outside of work sometimes. As do some of the other drivers, like the golf/twitch quartet gang.
Charles and Pierre I would actually call really good friends. They've known each other for such a long time and done some real growing up together. I don't actually see some of the people that I call my closest friends all that much but that friendship is still there when we do see each other. So I wouldn't be surprised if it were that kinda thing.
We also need to keep in mind that they don't share everything they do with us so they might spend time together and we have no idea. Like unless lewis had talked about it I would've never thought that him, Charles and Pierre play (maybe played I have no clue) COD together.
The other thing is they spend a lot of time travelling, so they do spend some time together at GPs and such and then when you are home you just want to see the people that don't travel with you. So I get not wanting to see the same person in your off week that you see during work.
But yeah, I think most of them just get along great together and have a lot of fun and I would call that friends. But not the let's braid each others hair and spill all our deepest darkest secrets friends friends.
And that's alright too! They don't have to absolutely love spending all their time together.

Maybe? It’s definitely the sport I follow most consistently like every week checking for results. I grew up on nascar but I don’t watch is as much now since my dads guy retired. I also watch futbol pretty regularly but I’m not into it enough to know all the clubs and stuff! I do have my fave players from the Mexican National team lol
2) Lestappen or maxiel ?
Maxiel 1000%. They are so compelling to me because of their story. How Daniel helped Max when he first got into F1 and then left. The whole “I wish he never left” element of it all. The way they defend each other. When everyone was blaming Daniel for his McLaren stint Max (along with others) only had good things to say about Daniel and how he was still talented. Like you don’t stick your neck out for someone like that if they don’t matter to you.
3) Dando or carlando ?
Probably Dando. Although I don’t like them as much as Maxiel I can appreciate the brother dynamic they have.
4) Norstappen or carlando ?
Carlando for sure. Again something about the brother dynamic between Lando and his teammates that makes me soft for him a bit.
5) Charlos or piarles ?
🗣️ Charlos. Who doesn’t love two hot men on the same team. The way they race each other and talk to each other is so compelling. Especially after all the drama that happened this past weekend. I love a bitch fight lol.
6) Piarles or yukierre ?
Yukierre. The chef date!!!! That was it for me honestly. The way Yuki looks at Pierre 😭
7) Brocedes or sewis ?
Brocedes. The lore!!! Like imagine growing up and karting and becoming best friends with this guy then both of you make it to F1 and then eventually on the same team. Now you have to fight said best friend and destroy your friendship with him to win your ultimate goal. Who does lore like this!?!? No one else.
8) Britcedes or valewis ?
As much as I’d love to say valewis the way merc treated him makes me sad so for that I’ll say Britcedes!
9) Sewis or sebchal ?
Sewis. The championship winner dynamic between them two. The fact that Seb was the only one who hugged him at his last race. Yeah. Def sewis.
10) Favorite driver who retired in the last 10 years ?
Does Fernando count if he returned? Probably not lol. Seb for sure! Again I am a Daniel girlie and I love all his friendships and the one with Seb is so sweet. The way he hugged him after his first win. But also the way Seb was so cunty during his championship winning streak. Ugh truly wish I had been watching at the time!!! But for sure Seb. Usually as I find more and more unflattering lore about my blorbos it cures my obsession but for some reason w/ Nico it just makes me even more intrigued. why I enjoy max is cause
a) sick racer. seriously, generational talent. there's this idea that he's some super unsafe crash happy driver but that's really not true, and that narrative is from 2016 -- when he was a wee baby 17 year old. Imagine you're defined by how you were at 17 🫥 I would die. we are watching history in the making: and we'll be seeing him on the grid for many more years inshallah. sexy ass racing... and no it's not cause he's got the best car. i think just how much fun he had wheel to wheel racing with a broken car against Mick in France showed that. this dude just loves racing the way you and I will never love anything
b) he's just Some Guy.
there's a lot of narratives about how evil he is.... but my understanding of him is a dude who doesn't care to play along with the PR optics of a situation. He's blunt, he's honest -- it can be off putting to some, but I find it really refreshing. if you ask him if he's scared of Marc's straight line speed, he'll just say no. yes king give me nothing!! he is the ultimate what you're seeing is what you're getting. he's simply max :)
what I love about him is his innate self belief. he had a dad who projected all his failed ambitions on him, and the post linked by bella does a good job of explaining the parental abuse. I also speak about it here. fandom ofc cannot handle a topic that nuanced, which leads to the worst fucking takes of all time. max is not defined by his abuse, rather time and again he's shown how much so much more, so full of love. he was practically groomed to be a racer, but he's so much more than the weight of the expectations put on him since childhood. there's this interview of baby teen max asking if he thinks he'll be a better racer than his dad and he just says "I am." you need to have that kind of faith in yourself, and prove it!!!!!!!
his whole circle is friends from years back, his mom and his sister, and his gf/her kid. he's literally 24, rich, successful he can have or do anything he wants, and he just likes chilling with his family and playing the sim 🥺 a family dude through and through
beyond that, he's truly just Some Dude. he's got a dry sarcastic sense of humour, has mommy issues, likes to be in the arms of other stronger men, he comes across as a dude with a decent head on his shoulders. yes he bitches in the car and swears a lot and breaks his DRS button pressing it 50 times, and then goes to say he thinks he's pretty calm lolol I love unreliable narrators. it also says a lot that most of the grid likes him, Daniel, Fernando, Lando, Carlos, Charl, he's capable of being a normal dude off the track who isn't untouchable.
C) tits and thighs
before I got into f1, I saw this black and white video of max from Abu Dhabi celebrations, drunk as shit, in some dude's arms singing "we are the champions" I knew NOTHING about him beyond he just became the world champion of ??? something, and he seems so, so happy. and for me that's all it took. that's my golden shoe boy.

Thoughts on maxiel? I honestly love them, 100% #2 fave f1 ship after the drama queens brocedes
Maxiel are like a blorbo in law, I don't personally tread but I've got so many mutuals and just the most insane writers in the fandom who do. I can appreciate it from afar, much like valtteri bottas' tasteful nude 🍑
My brain decided it could only cram lore of ONE (1) 2016 dead ship and landed on brocedes. I'm sure if I lived thru the maxiel era I would be terminal for them. I can appreciate how important they were to each other, both in their careers and developing as people. Max learned a lot about handling his ambitions and relationships. Daniel was also clearly fond of him; given the fondness still lingers even now and the bitterness of being overshadowed has dimmed with time.
Max also had such an obvious crush like he'd be giggling at Anything daniel said and just wanted to make him laugh and whatever this is
The way I am live slug reacting....... also max having a shoey and going 😀 good sweat... yeah that boy was GONE.
the max of today doesn't need that arm around him by an older teammate to get him into f1, he's basically an oldie now himself but also grown in many ways, how he's a better teammate to checo, more self assured in himself and his drive than the rookie who was hungry to prove himself; so while they're both still fond of each other -- they're just in different paths of their life rn. which is why lestappen is more compelling to me cause almost on all accounts they're so equal and proper championship rivals and their saga is just at its beginning where maxiel's has simmered down to amicable ex teammates. first loves never die but they set the stage for the second love.

i have to say that i explained a condensed version of the brocedes lore to my brother today as an answer to his innocent question of where lewis lives and he asked how i know this much of past f1 history despite getting into it in june and i had to say "oh you know some people on tumblr"... anyway thank you for doing the hard, honest, back-breaking work of keeping brocedes alive and well, truly you work harder than the us military
