In the middle of reading Finale after finishing Legendary and caraval, it sort of seems like Tella put herself into the delusion that she was jacks' true love (Again, I'm still reading Finale so correct me if I'm wrong). Personally, I think that jacks' wasn't truly in love with tella, but the idea of being in love with her blinded him into thinking that she was his true love even though the only reason why tella survived jacks' kiss was because of legend's(dante's) blood. So when you think about it, tella was never jacks' true love to begin with, but she convinced herself into thinking that she was jacks' true love just because she heard a heartbeat from jacks even though there wasn't much proof of her being his true love other than the heartbeat
