I’ve been struggling so bad to find skins of high quality and detail that are darker hues, or eye/nose masks that don’t lose detail the deeper the shade gets. I saw that you gave a resource list of skins a few years back when Nyanaath looked a lil different, so i wasn’t sure if there was anything relatively new that you used or not. I see the pores and details in Nyanaath’s skin and am just dying to know how to get like you lmaoo

First of all, Hiii and thank you! 😁💕Happy new year! Prepare for a bit of rambling but I link to some stuff in the end.

I want to start off saying that most of my sim pics are edited to some degree, especially previous pics from the past. I'm trying to rely less on editing to make my sims looks nice, but of course there is only so much you can do in a sims game.

This is an example of what Nyanaath's skin looks like unedited. EA lighting sucks ass and looks patchy in Sims 3 on dark colored objects in general and unfortunately, sims are not excluded. I end up smoothing the discoloration and patchiness with editing 😭

Before vs After

Skins as dark as Nena's have to be made dark from the start because using a pale/light based skin and trying to use an in-game slider to darken it never turns out good in any game. Dark skin reflects light and shadows differently than light skin and needs its own already-dark base.

I will seriously consider trying to throw together a skinblend for male and female skins that are dark like this because I truly think there are none. BUUUUT LOL rambling aside I do have new recommendations for makeup and skin details since that post:

1. First up is @sourlemonsimblr for makeup. Especially for eyebrows and lipsticks! A lot of their lipsticks are insanely detailed and recolorable enough that they can fit most darker tones. Their skins are lovely too and they've even recently made a dark skin which I will💗Link Here💗. I haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet but they always have quality stuff. Take a stroll through their Downloads page because it's definitely worth it. 2. Next up for skin detail makeups is @smallsimmer. They have so many good nose makes and eye/lip details that can be recolored to use on your darker skinned sims! If you ever had a skin you really liked and wanted to switch up the nose, eyes or lips, their skin detail makeup will absolutely come in clutch. They even have a few converted for child and toddler sims (something ts3 is lacking in)💗Link Here💗 3. If you want some AF skins for darker sims that are readily available and detailed, I'd suggest @annoyinglydarkblaze I learned a lot about making skins from watching their journey into skin making a few years ago. Since they aren't as active anymore and their posts are a bit scattered I will link the skins I like best: 💗Here💗 💗Here💗 and 💗Here💗 4. My next pick for more masculine/male-centered CAS makeup and CC is @nectar-cellar Their cc has been helpful as I slowly update my male OCs. The Beards/detail makeup torso muscled-torso meshes and clothing are some of the best. 5. I also suggest @simtanico for sliders and their detail makeup. I have just about every slider they've created 😂They also make really well done maxis-match kinda styled clothes for male sims too.

I'm sure there are tons of other people I'm missing but its been a minute since I've been around simblr myself so I'll try to update this list as I go.

I'll also leave you with a little tip: Do NOT be afraid to use the opacity slider and layering with makeup on darker sims. Layering and opacity is your friend!

Argh, nice, I have some actually and luckily the question doesn't include "why?" because I'm not sure I know how to explain that. 💦

Anyway they are: Zorro (who expected this? 🤣). Luis Ramone (New World Zorro) I know he's bad but seeing him always makes me smile, Tylo, at least in my opinion, was really good at playing him, Luis is a bad guy but him and his facial expressions bring me good mood (thank goodness I said I couldn't explain why, lol). Arthur Morgan and Kieran Duffy from Red Dead Redemption 2. Vivi Ornitier from Final Fantasy IX. Do my OCs Nico and my friend's OCs count? I hope so. And then others but I don't want to make the list too long.

11. favorite extracurricular activity

Apart from drawing for myself I don't think I've ever had any. When I was still at school I could only stay at home or at my maternal grandparents' house. Whatever I wanted to try there was no time or money. I had and have a boring life, sorry. 😅🙏

Sorry, no movie in particular come to mind. Here my family watch movies about the bible and they bore me so I avoid watching. Hmm… I remember many years ago I enjoyed watching the 2003 film Bad Santa but I only saw it that one time so I don't feel like to tell it's my favorite holiday film. When I was younger during the holidays they broadcast anime and cartoons that they didn't broadcast on TV the rest of the year but unfortunately I have a vague memory of it, but I remember I liked them.

🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

Her biggest fear is being alone. And not in the 'sitting alone in a room' kind of way. In the 'I'm the only one left out of everyone' kind of way.

For a mundane fear, she does have arachnophobia. That's a trait carried over from her creator...

✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?

I've mentioned many times that she's heavily inspired by Linkin Park, but there is one song in particular that I consider her 'theme' song. That song is 'Somewhere I Belong'. I can't pic just one line for her, because it's literally the whole song.

🎀 RIBBON - how would they fit into other worlds / aus? what aus would you like to try out? what fictional world would they fit / not fit into?

Anon, when I saw this was one of the questions, I began to vibrate excitedly in place. You have no idea how badly I wanted someone to ask this question! (I am hugging you and happy crying right now!)

So it's probably obvious that she fits best in an AU with magic stuff. I do have one where she's just a normal person working in a Hot Topic-type store (poor girl has to work retail...I am such a cruel creator). Basically I just removed anything that made her near-god tier and the whole 'Anubis is daddy' thing, and replaced it with a temperamental short-stack with daddy issues (not really too far off from the original tbh lol).

I haven't written any other fandom AU's with her (yet), but she could easily fit into any fandom by changing a few pieces of background. I actually have base ideas for fandoms like Dragon Age, WoW, and Inuyasha.

For an AU I would like to try with her, probably a Highschool AU. That's an AU I haven't explored, and I kinda wanna. She would definitely be the 'new girl' trying to find where she fits in. Unfortunately I have a hard enough time doing school scenes in my longfic, so I don't foresee me writing a Highschool AU anytime in the near future (though I've played around with the idea of maybe doing that sort of AU as an RP).

Like I said before, I've made her so that she's adaptable between AU's. I'm not sure if there's one she wouldn't work in.

I really appreciate you asking this haha - while I thiiink you’re the only one I’ve really gotten asks from, I always enjoy hearing from you!

Kind of tangentially, I’ve been a bit stuck in my own little shell over here and would love to branch out and talk to more people. I’m still learning about tumblr culture (you can probably tell I saw the post about reblogging more recently when I went had a comparatively massive reblogging spree the other day) and I’m trying to figure out the balance between my own work and thoughts on my blog and others’. That’s been halted a bit by school these past few weeks but spring break is coming up and I’m excited to get to engage in my hobbies a bit more, and hopefully do some posting!

I adore talking to people about my fandoms but my engagement in most unfortunately changes on a whim haha… BBC Sherlock has been a very consistent one since I got into it in early 2023, and I’ll always love talking about those goofballs >:D I also enjoy the Warriors universe but I’m not up to date on any of the current books ^^ I’ve been meaning to write up a nice intro post, I can use that as a log of all of the stuff I’m into at any given point if that would be helpful! Also if you have any media recs, feel free to throw them at me! I’m compiling a list of things I want to watch in the future and I’d love suggestions! Esp. anything with queer rep/somewhat founded queer headcanons :D

Uhh general thoughts:: If you have OCs please infodump about them to me, I love hearing about other people’s characters >:3 and I love to talk about writing/drawing, it really inspires me to hear about other people creating stuff so that’s very welcome! If I remember rightly, I'm sure I followed you first, I believe I saw an interaction between you and another mutual (don't ask who... I have a terrible memory lol). But it was when I was going through your verse list that made the decision for me to follow (we both know what I found there xD)

I'm not usually one to reach out first, because I'm shy as all hell but for whatever reason I decided to bite the bullet and sent you an IM requesting a thread. And we just... hit it off, like instantly!!

There was a period where the communication kinda dried up, but that happens sometimes, but like, your writing was just amazing! And I was actually a lil bit intimidated by you and your talent for a bit tbh. Just kinda like, "Oh wow... why does this amazing writer even give me a second glance...?" kind of thing? Dumb I know, but it's a thing I experience more often than I care to admit.

Still, no regrets at all, and what made me stick around was the sheer amount of open communication we've had since then, the development of our muses relationship even before we'd gotten to the juicy parts. Like... I love OC's man, I haven't the imagination to be able to make one of my own to rp with, but with Mercy, fuck... I love her. I love how complex she is, that she isn't a stereotype in any which way; she's gorgeous, hella strong, bitch is a fucking badass! But she has her faults, her flaws, her insecurities which make her so damn relatable and it shows just how much work and love has gone into her creation just by the way you write for her.

I love her, and I love you too, man. You're the best and I hope this ship just keeps on sailing~ <3

this is honestly so sweet and i just... kind of want to cry. you’re one of my most favorite people i’ve had the privilege of meeting on this hell site and i’m so happy that we did!

i remember when you first messaged me and how taken aback i was by it; it isn’t often that folks reach out to me, and i hadn’t expected anyone to actually look at anything i had put up on my pages. i also hadn’t ever had anyone interested in mass effect verses, so it was doubly surprising when you reached out to me! i remember being flattered that you wanted to talk to me at all, for thinking that i might have something interesting to offer you in terms of plots, scenarios, character development, and all that other writing stuff that i’m not nearly as confident in as i should be.

i am, unfortunately, not very good at keeping up with communication. sorry for the radio silence that we had for that short period of time! i just worry that i’m boring or that i have nothing worthwhile to say. i also sometimes just... withdraw on occasion as my mood takes a sick roller coaster ride through my brain. D: it’s awful.

i am simultaneously flattered and baffled at the idea that anyone would ever be intimidated by me or my writing because, like, idk i just don’t consider myself to be that good. i’ve learned to see my work and say, “that’s pretty okay,” but that’s about it, y’know? there’s also the fact that, bruh, you’re much better with prose than i am. your word choice is really just like... top fuckin’ notch and i really enjoy the way your writing flows as i read it. it’s very fucking lovely and i think you should be very proud of that if you aren’t already.

Diana Stephanie (Fire Emblem: Fates)

3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?

Well, given all that happens pre-Fates, I guess you could say Diana’s childhood wasn’t ideal? But she also doesn’t remember a whole lot before her kidnapping, so although she always feels out of place in the Northern Fortress, she never can put a finger on it. But overall, her childhood is alright. She has her brother Tristan by her side all the time and there’s a large library always at her fingertips. Fond memories include any time she spends with her brother - watching him train with Xander, secret adventures in the town outside of the Fortress, and time on the parapet outside of their room. Bad memories would include anytime Garon visits and requires an audience, as well as any time she feels that she’s disappointed any of her siblings (always ends up being a really vivid memory).

31. Do they drink? What are they like drunk? What are they like hungover? How do they act when other people are drunk or hungover? Kind or teasing?

Ha, well... Diana only drinks when either upset or forced to. The two main times I’ve written so far involving drunk Diana both fall in the Nohr timeline - after her brother leaves her in Nohr while he stays in Hoshido and during the wedding ceremony between her and Xander. Drunk Diana is very emotional and tends to have much less of a filter than she does normally. She’s also prone to apologize a lot more than she already does. Hungover Diana isn’t really distinguishable from normal Diana, just a little quieter. She’s good at hiding headaches or nausea. When other people are drunk, if Diana feels comfortable enough with the person, she’ll try to help them, but if not, she’ll just kind of... let them be drunk. She won’t tease them though, just try to avoid them.

Jin Jieun (Mystic Messenger)

16. Do they collect anything? What do they do with it? Where do they keep it?

BOOKS. Jieun has so many books. She keeps them on a shelf in her room (sometimes spilling onto the floor) and when moving into Rika’s apartment, really frustrates her brother by insisting she needs to bring all of them. Most of them are true crime, but there’s an occasional romance novel hidden in the middle.

22. What are their favourite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or do they prefer to bitch behind someone’s back?

Jieun tends to avoid confrontation, but her favorite insults are generally a collection of swear words combined in various ways. She definitely is more of the type to bitch behind people’s backs though. Her brother and Seven get a lot of her venting, unfortunately.

Diana Elaine (Kuroko no Basuke)

32. What do they dress like? What sorta shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashion that they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s their hair like?

This is why I have pinterest boards, yo! Check here for some examples! When she’s not in her school uniform, Diana tends to dress on the preppy side in the spring, skirts and dresses. In the fall and winter, cozy sweaters, scarves, and boots are must haves. Always carries a purse big enough for whatever book she’s reading as well. I’m not sure exactly what shops to list, but that’s what she generally looks for. Also a big fan of jewelry - always accessorizes with a necklace and always has earrings in. She generally is happy with her clothes. To sleep she usually wears shorts and a tshirt. She will wear makeup on special occasions or when she feels like she needs to impress, but not generally on a normal school day (she sleeps in too much to do real makeup every day). Hair is generally worn down - it’s pretty wavy - with a headband or a ribbon.

38. What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?

Diana admires determination and a sense of tenacity in others - sometimes she feels that she gives up too easily, so she admires people that don’t. She wishes she was more outspoken and able to make friends, as it’s something she isn’t too good at.

Diana Leigh (Stardew Valley)

Although Diana is not particularly funny herself, she does find puns and wordplay pretty amusing. Although she doesn’t tend to crack jokes too often herself, her sense for receiving humor isn’t too bad.

49. What is their most valued object? Are they sentimental? Is there something they have to take everywhere with them?

Diana’s most valued object is a necklace her grandfather bought her when she was just a little girl. He game it to her the last time she and her brother saw him and she has never left home without it since his passing. Although she isn't usually sentimental, she is in this case because her grandfather is so important.

YES I read the new Kuro chapter! Honestly I disliked the 2CT for various reasons but now that it’s actually become canon I think I feel a little better about it (also, is it just me or does ‘real’ Ciel look a bit different from 'our’ Ciel on the last page? His face looks too…perfect, if that makes sense). I’m excited to see what this means for Lizzy’s relationship with both Ciels and Undertaker’s connection to the Phantomhives!

Oh, actually I agree with you there? What I meant by 'op’ is more of a really strong character, not an overpowered one ^^;; sorry, I’ll try to explain myself better:

Super strong characters like Levi, Mikasa, the Titan Trio, Kaneki, Eto, Arima, Sebastian…they are all technically 'op’ (especially Sebastian, dude has literally no weaknesses so far). However, they work because they also have traits that interest us beyond just their strength. Kaneki is a lonely child, a selfish person with a fear of being left behind, drifting and unable to find a reason to live. Levi is an orphan who was raised by a serial killer- he clawed his way up to where he is now. Annie is a sixteen-year-old trained into a killing machine from childhood, she went through life believing that the only person she could trust was her father, and she was desperate to return to him.

(It’s also difficult because everyone seems to have a different definition of 'op’; I personally just use it to jokingly refer to powerful characters or when I talk about strong characters whose power levels are inconsistent with canon to the point where it gets ridiculous (example: we know titan shifters take some time to heal, so if a titan shifter came along who could be behaded then have their head instantly stick back onto their neck like some sort of AoT version of Noro, I’d consider them OP).)

I guess what I was trying to say was that it’s fine to have strong characters, just make sure that they have an actual personality (readers need a reason to care about the characters, after all!) and that their powers make sense? ^^;;

(Also, I think I might have sounded a bit passive-aggressive or rude during this convo about op characters, I'm really sorry if I did OTL I didn’t mean to, but when I reread my comments I realized they could come off that way)

I agree with you about the AoT OCs though. Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of good ones…actually, most OCs I see for popular fandoms aren’t very interesting. Other than the powers or character designs the thing that bothers me is the lack of proper personality (why do so many people think 'happy’ is a personality trait???).

And definitely agree 100% on the angsty backstory. Like, that’s just overkill. There’s a difference between tragedy and being edgy. (It also sort of depends on how good the writer is at conveying emotion and handling the angst, but for the most part stuff like that is

That’s a great way to do things! :D I’m really, really disorganized when it comes to making characters…usually a concept pops into my head and I run with it, adding in details along the way. Tatsuo was created when I wanted to make a male TG OC and suddenly this image of a smug-looking guy with a long black ponytail popped into my head, Naomi started from the idea of making a character with the themes of 'self-discovery’ 'identity’ and 'lies’ woven into their arc. Louisa was literally born from an outfit- I randomly thought of an outfit that looked really pretty and traditionally feminine, yet was actually very practical when you looked closer. Then I tried to imagine what kind of person would wear these clothes and that was Louisa…

idk, I’m bad at explaining stuff haha

(also: Tatsuo was also inspired by various vampire characters I saw in anime/manga, books and TV shows. He’d be so offended if he knew LOL in fact, he just might serve me for dinner at the restaurant or something ;-;)

-rarely shows emotions like anger or sorrow

-not because she’s bottling them up, but because she’s learned how to handle them in a healthy way

-always smells like mint for some reason

-maybe because she’s addicted to mint tea

-her bodyguard suspects she doesn’t drink water at all and lives on the stuff

-she also likes strong flavors

-has the kind of bright, pretty smile that makes you want to trust her

-so you do

-and you (probably) get killed

-had a girlfriend named Iris once, a nice, sensible girl who managed to keep her from getting too buried in her work and various plans for her family and took care of her in ways that her bodyguard couldn’t (AKA somehow got her to realize that mint tea does not equal a proper meal)

-unfortunately Iris did not know that Lou can be a bit terrible

-she walked in on Lou casually wiping the blood off of her knife with the dead body of a certain businessman on the floor in front of her

-“Oh, Iris. What are you doing here, darling? I thought I asked the servants to keep you upstairs, my private meetings can be a bit messy… Iris? Love, are you quite alright? You look a little pale…”

-Well, that was the end of that relationship

Well, I never really had a formed opinion on the 2CT theory, but I did read a few things about it. I didn’t expect it to be true, though. Welp, now we can assume it is true, and I am SHOOK Here’s an accurate description of me during the chapter.

I think that might be since he’s a tiny bit more similar to Vincent, while Our Ciel is more similar to Rachel. I mean, we know that there are physical differences between the two (if we assume that Real Ciel is the one who was previously Lizzy’s fiancé), because Real Ciel is taller than Our Ciel.

Well, like you said, everyone has their own definition of OP. Sometimes, I’ll even think of OCs who have trait that’s already specific to another character as OP, like Titan-Shifter OCs, or OCs with a plot basically the same to a canon character (not OP but very irritating) And don’t get me started on Demon-Contracted OCs in the Kuro fandom. Those make me want to defenestrate myself.

Yup, I have no problems with strong characters as long as they’re not ridiculously strong and aren’t there purely because of that power, but they also have personality.

Don’t worry, I reread my original statement about OP characters and was like ‘man this sounds so bitchy and high and might hnnnngh’ but couldn’t find a way to rephrase it properly ^^;; So, no worries, I know how you feel ^^

Well, for some reason, it seems that the people who make believable OCs are either lazy or scared to post theirs. Or they simply don’t care. The ones with Mary Sues like to holler at people with ‘LOOK AT MY BAE CHARACTER AREN’T THEY PERFECT???’

There’s this blog I follow (it’s gone inactive, unfortunately) that takes Mary Sues and breaks them down (well, the correct term would be make fun of, but they do offer some advice on how to improve them), and you wouldn’t believe the shit I found there. Here’s the link if you want.

For some reason, people seem to think that the edgier the backstory, the ‘more original’ the character, which (of course) isn’t true, because that means everyone will have a super tragic backstory that no longer makes sense. Another thing I’ve noticed is that they sometimes avoid some pretty important details like ‘Character was born into a healthy, happy family. One thing led to another and the family was killed, while character was molested (a very common backstory theme) and taken in by a cult’ and I’m like ???

My character usually start out like this: *luna is watching a show* OK BUT WHAT IF THERE WAS A CHARACTER WHO-

And so a new character is born.

But your ways of starting a character are also quite interesting ^^ Especially by looking at an outfit! I ALWAYS WANNA LISTEN TO YOU RAMBLE ABOUT CHARACTERS!

Titans make me laugh, honestly. Like, these are supposed to be the main bad creatures? Steampunk zombies (kabaneri) look scarier than that.
