so glad to see my little geralt of rivia post getting notes. i am the world's most average witcher lore understander (two seasons of the netflix show and three of the books and a bunch of time spent gleaning real lore from what people use in fanfiction) but i Do consider myself more correct than most people when it comes to understanding geralt of rivia. this is because i want to put him in a centrifuge and spin him around and my judgement is therefore unclouded by things like liking him as a character

#i do love him don't get me wrong. but like. in a way where i am using him to play croquet like the flamingos in alice in wonderland #care very deeply about him. many opinions about him being a good man and a desperate disillusioned romantic #and someone who is trying so so hard to be good at all times in a world where even he can't believe it of himself #but also he's FAKING HIS STUPID ACCENT!!!!!#man who rocks up to the function in an 'i love rivia' shirt when he's never actually lived there in his life #'yeah i'm jared from new york' says jared in a very distinct new york accent. nd then u find out he was adopted as a baby and raised in ohi #and you ask him how he developed a new york accent in cincinnati and he goes 'oh my foster dad said i was adopted from new york...#so i taught myself the accent to feel like i had more of a connection. a sense of belonging y'know' like. man. what #<— geralt of rivia simulator #anyway i am the correctest about him of all time until i'm face to face with someone who's finished the books. then i'll defer #soon though... someday... i will be the one who has finished the books...#and watched more gameplay maybe. not even cause i'm interested in the games i just want to be the arbiter of information #and because aiden is mentioned in the games <3 my darling who does not actually appear anywhere in the franchise <3 #will not be watching season 3 of the show anytime soon. as soon as i went near the books i was so disillusioned with the show #season 2 really took it out of me... killed off any passion i had for it...#made me write like five different fics to try and fix it...#crazy. anyway. netflix writers don't understand geralt. but i do. let it be known.#valentine notes #the witcher

I genuinely think the Witcher has always had the best environment design across all games due to how immersive and lush the forests are, and attention to detail and realism for the settlements. I really do love it. However would it truly be a Witcher game if you didn’t get hopelessly lost on how to even reach the objective

#I’ve noticed that they tried to make this a lot clearer in 3 #BUT I STILL STRUGGLE LMFAO #the witcher #where are the stairs??? how am I supposed to know you gotta knock on doors????#confusion is just part of the gameplay. for me at least

#fantasy rpgs with nice gameplay please #i just dont care as much for sci fi games as i do fantasy games #and i also care less about games with no romanceable characters as shallow as that sounds its true #waiting (not so) patiently for elden ring to go on sale ive no idea if its anything like da or bg3 but i have hopes #also i do have skyrim i should maybe play some of that again #and also witcher 3 i should continue that #but also more games!! need more

nothing quite like after a bad day, being able to open elden ring, summoning my little grafted lord in random places so i get to listen to his growls and laughs while i collect my 564th rowa fruit wile staring at the skybox

Aside from Toussaint, Skellige is one of my ultimate fave places in TW3. Velen’s effing NASTY, and White Orchard’s barely any better--it’s just mud and poop and blood everywhere. Oxenfurt and Novigrad are fancy sprawling cities, yes, but thanks to EFFING Radovid, the people are rabid racists. Everyone’s always spitting at Geralt when he passes, and burning dwarves and mages at the stake, like are you frikkin kidding me? Deuces.

But Skellige’s so dang cool. They’ve got the druids/mages pretty much running the joint at Gedyneith. Even though the place is crawling with high level monsters, Skelligers see honor in fighting them, and deeply respect witchers like Geralt. (Yeah, they hate Yennefer, but that’s her own fault. 😅 ) All the Skelligers pulled up in full force to help defend Ciri and fight off the Wild Hunt, and the psychopaths were cheering the entire time, like wtf. 🤣

So yeah, before the Blood & Wine EP came out, I was totally fine with Geralt and his girls just living in Skellige for the rest of their lives.

But then CDPR went and made Toussaint. 👀

u know when u want to play a video game but you can’t and u can’t really even watch someone play it online bcos it’s not fun? yeah i wanna play dragon age origins.

#en français parce qu'il doit y avoir 5 français qui suivent ce blog #mais contexte #la streameuse que je regardais a crash #donc en attendant qu'elle revienne je traînais sur twitch et j'me suis dit. on va voir si le jeu maudit est vraiment si bon qu'il mérite #à ce point d'être défendu #et #c'est juste un énième clone de witcher 3 et d'assassin's creed (sauce origins et jeux suivants)#vraiment capitalism breeds innovation #il n'y a RIEN d'intéressant #tout est super rigide les graphismes sont cet espèce de beau sans âme qui a envahi les jeux AAA depuis 8 ans #les éléments de gameplay (attaquer des camps par ex) sont les mêmes que dans AC et c'est chiant #les combats sont chiants #genre c'est même pas mauvais genre la honte suprême #juste vraiment la formule super palatable qui est répétée et répétée depuis presque dix ans parce que c'est ce qui marche #oui je sais que les gens défendent plus le jeu par réaction que parce que le jeu est bon #mais quand même #après avoir regardé la vidéo sur la 'marketabilité' de la franchise je peux dire. oui effectivement c'est encore un produit vendu à un #public bercé par les produits dérivés depuis qu'ils ont 5 ans
